You say, 'Hail, Farmer Joen' Farmer Joen says 'These are hard times for us, _____. Me and my companion here, Lize, are doing our best to find a way out of a [dilemma].' You say, 'What dilemma?' Farmer Joen says 'Our farm has been taken over by the undead! I'm not sure where they all came from, but one thing is certain, they wanted my farm! If you could [help] us, I would sure appreciate it. So would Lize! There is also a matter of a [keepsake] I left behind...' You say, 'I will help' Farmer Joen says 'This is encouraging news! Because I haven't been able to get to the farm, I haven't been able to plant more seeds so that we may supply citizens with food. I need you to go to the farm and plant some seeds on the steppes. They are well irrigated so the growth should take care of itself.' You have been assigned the task 'Reclaim the Farm'. Farmer Joen and his mate, Lize, were tasked with cultivating crops at the farm in the hollow but found the task harder than they expected. It seems that skeletons have overtaken the farm and he has completely lost control of it. He needs you to plant some seeds so he might start a new crop while the pests are dealt with, lest the citizens go hungry. Use the seeds from farmer Joen to plant the fields near the farm 0/10 (Crescent Reach) You receive a Bag of Seeds (identifies as "A bag full of seeds") that is clickable from inventory with a 2-second casting time. You need to plant 10 seeds, receiving a task update on each planting. Return to farmer Joen and inform him of your work 0/1 (Crescent Reach) You say, 'Hail, Farmer Joen' Farmer Joen says 'Thank you for getting those seeds planted. Now we just need to wait for the undead to be taken care of and we'll be able to get the farm going again.' The farm will be able to prosper even while it has been occupied by the undead. A nice litte bit of attention to detail that I hadn't noticed before: when you plant the seeds, it's not the same model each time. It randomly picks one of three.

It took awhile to figure it out- i kept missing the part where he wanted me to help him due to so many others asking for quests and the print rolls faster than i can read. You have to say "help" to get the quest.
Success comes when preparation meets opportunity -- and EQ is no exception.
Both steps are in Crescent Reach
1st step is 10 / 10 - causes red sunflowers to pop up as tall as me (wood elf), Bag of Seeds is consumed when this step is completed.
2nd task is 1 / 1, visible text is correct. At the end you get a private confirmation and the task offers you its reward.
The farm will be able to prosper even while it has been occupied by the undead. Joen should be able to return to work again once the undead have been removed...

This task is NOT available at 10, You have to be 15 to get it. It can, however, be done before doing the other quest (also need to be 15) that Joen hands out. Neither 'unlocks' the other...
Say the phrase " I will help " to Farmer Joen to get the task.

What no one has answered is HOW DO YOU PLANT THE SEEDS IN THE FIRST PLACE?!?!?!

I know this post is over a year old, but for those who come looking...
First you need to have the seed bag in a top level inventory slot (not in a bag). Then you right-click the seed bag to plant the seed.

Oh good lord I truly think I'm challenged. I've done everything to try and plant these silly seeds. From right clicking, to left clicking while still in my inventory slot. To carrying the bag around with me trying to plant. Nothing is working. Can some help this poor old fool out??

Lize and Joan both offer 2 quests, and neither is chained - once you hit L15 you can get all 4 of the quests at the same time - there's no need to complete one before the other.
As of 5/23, I am unable to get these quests on my lvl 14 toon. The mob names also now say (Quests 15-20) not 10-15

Locked up locket is supposed to unlock the seed planting quest. I completed LuL and returned to Farmer Joen. Unfortunately I can only get the Locked up Locket quest from him again. No new quest is initiated.
I tried the other farmers in the room but no dice. How do you start the seed planting quest please?

This is still the case 5 years later. She only offers one quest over and over, nothing is unlocked or started automatically by finishing the first task.
He is referring to the farm in crescent reach - you must plant the seeds (looks like a regular bag) in the plowed field next to the farm. And yes, the plants really grow. I've done it a few times already. Yes it is repeatable.
I got all the way to where he mentions the seeds and thats it, I recieved nothing. During my confusion I talked to Lize to see what would happen. She gave me 2 different quests.
After hailing Lize I replied with [Skeleltons] she gave me-
Soul Patrol-remove some of the skeletons haunting the farm 0/10.
When I replied with [retrieve] she gave me-
Food for Thought-help Lize out by recovering some of her trinkets 0/5.

You must take at least one step between each seed planted. Yes you can backstep as well. Just cannot plant two seeds in a row at the exact same spot.
