Shakrn Meadowgreen is located (106, -2215) in the centaur encampment in South Karana.

You say, 'Hail, Shakrn Meadowgreen'

Shakrn Meadowgreen says 'Hail! I am Shakrn Meadowgreen, warrior extraordinaire and master armorer of the Meadowgreen family. My brother and I craft [armor] for the bravest warriors in the land - do you think you [qualify]?'

You say, 'I qualify.'

Shakrn Meadowgreen says 'So you are a warrior of renown? [Prove] it to me and I will smith you [armor] befitting your exalted station.'

You say, 'How do I prove it?'

Shakrn Meadowgreen says 'You will prove yourself to me the old fashioned way, by killing things and bringing me back proof of your deed. Bah. What other way is there?'

You say, 'What armor?'

Shakrn Meadowgreen says 'I smith [helms], [gauntlets], [boots] and [vambraces]. My brother Ulan smiths bracers, greaves, pauldrons and breastplates.'

You say, 'What boots?'

Shakrn Meadowgreen says 'One of my brethren spoke to me of the mystic properties of the frost totems carried by the goblin high shamans in Permafrost Keep. I have been unable to fetch one for myself, as my centaur body will not fit through the tunnels of those sniveling wretches. Prove your might by providing me a frost totem and two [sapphire] stones. Do this and I will reward you with a pair of crafted boots.'

Sapphires may be purchased from several merchants. The Goblin Frost Totem drops from the goblin patriarch in Permafrost Keep.

Upon Handing in two sapphires and the Goblin Frost Totem:

Shakrn Meadowgreen says 'Wait, ______, are you not forgetting something?'
Shakrn Meadowgreen says 'Wait, ______, are you not forgetting something?'
Shakrn Meadowgreen says 'What strength you must have to return with a frost goblin totem. You have surprised me - I did not think you up to the task. Take these crafted boots - you have indeed earned them.'
You gain experience!!

huh very hard really, got a 36 war, 34mage (with 34 fire pet) 33beast 30 sham and 26 ench... my suggestion is, dont go without a cleric and a backup healer. the casters in the king room will do alot of damage, and I was unable to pull less than 4 from the King spawn without using Lull, so we had to mezz alot. All spawns were blue to 36 too, so I seriously doubt a full group of high 20s could go down there and just clean the room, especially with a cleric (patriarch), a wizard (sage) and 3 wars up.

Very important tho, clear ALL goblin priests surrounding your fight area before you pull, as they will cast greater healing on the mobs, making you kill every mob twice at least

I was camping this last night with my 26 Bard and heres my tale.I went in invised to look around zone and see what it was like as I have never been there.
I conned the mobs going in and when they turned blue I turned around and left.Previous experiance walking invised thru the warrens is that higher level types see thru invis and then hurt you fast.So at this point I was going to give up on it when I stumbled across a 54 lvl druid Guildmate camping IGs in everfrost. He agreed to go in with me and help me get 2 items I was looking for.Icy greeves for Lambent armor and the frost totem for my warrior.
We went to the alchemist room to set up a safe spot to work from.Together we cleared that and then he went to kings room to find an elite, for icy greeves and a high shamen for totem.
He wiped out kings room but no luck on drops came back and I use mana song to get him up to fighting shape again. While we were waiting room popped and I was suddenly getting mauled by an elite(conned red) alchemist, and a priest. My Druid friend drew aggro buy starting to kill them and they ignorned me even when I started to hit back.
Got icy greeves from that.
We healed medded back up to full and he went to kill king again.I wanted to watch so I did invis song to follow at safe distance.
Got in kings room was watching for a short bit when 3 Goblins saw past my invis and jumped me.
Loading--Please wait.
Moral of story they do see thru invis and no you cant be there at that lvl.Get a friend to help and stay out of that room while he kills or come back at higher lvl.BTW king and patriarch both conned red to me at 26.

as a 43 bard i walked into perma, killed the two gobs in the room with gate, walked into king room. killed the two gobs nearest entry. used track to pinpoint patriarch/shaman. started up my +50MR song, used chant of flame to pull, ran back to gate room, fear kited him to prevent healing.

only lousey part was it took me 4 patriarchs and 3 shaman to get the totem to drop >__<

it's pretty lame that they say these quests are for a 25 warrior to do, seeing as how patriarch/shaman is light blue to a 43, and i had to kill a griffon for the crafted arms.

don't even get me started on the spaulders.

these quests *are* designed for a 25ish-30ish warrior to do, assuming he/she has a group. the 'minimum level' thing doesn't mean minimum level to solo the quest, it means minimum level to finish the quest with some help. a good group of 25ish players could take down a griff without too much trouble...and could get most of the other crafted quest items.

some are a bit off though...a group of lvl 25 peeps would definitely have a tough time trying to get the werewolf talon from mistmoore, for example. it's a scary little zone. =)

Most melee classes don't get manaless regeneration, haste, STR and ATK buffs, super fast running speeds, levitate, MR Cold Fire and Disease resist buffs, water breathing and damage shields either =)

Coming from a bard, I'm pretty happy with what we have.

I wouldn't go into Perma alone at 30. Lots of Greenie aggros will tear you down.

i have been reading alot of messages that have alot of people crying about how they always die.... and some guys said he would like to see someone solo here im a lvl 59 war and i can solo here also if u have to have a guild raid just sow u will not die then it is most likely not worth it just go buy one in ec save u alot of exp loss from dieing.... also its not worth dieing over cause when u get the the 40's the velium armor is great... i have a full suit of it... so for a end note i think u guys should just try to lvl and get you butts over the velius cause the champions armor is about a billion times better... but that is just my opinion

Ok a 59 warrior saying crafted isn't worth it. Well, DUH! Maybe you should have read what he was saying.

Minimum Level: 25

I also agree with the others when they say 25 is minimum to group on the king room. It would be quite a fight as well. It would also require organization. Aggro management isn't all that importiant until the 20's and up. I think it would be a great way for groups to learn how to work as a group.

Everyone starts off with indifferent faction to the Centaurs. There are only a few things in SKarana that aggro (cyclops, undead clops, splitpaw gnolls) and they are easy to avoid.

Not to knock you or anything... but you just said you were a high elf warrior. That would be the problem. Big difference between a high elf and an ogre or dwarf.

Sure looks like he said HALF elf warrior. Besides, don't knock someone for playing a race/class combo they like. After all, if you don't enjoy your characters, then you won't want to play them, no matter how "UBER" they are. I'd take a well played elf warrior in my group over a poorly played Ogre any day of the week.

True, the large races are stronger, and have many advantages for warrior class, but they aren't for everyone.

Do Not Need to Raid
# Aug 03 2001 at 10:15 AM Rating: Default
If you are a solo class, you should be able to do this alone in the low 30s. Otherwise, bring one or two large friends. A guild raid is not necessary. I did this with one friend. The frost totem dropped on the second kill of "a goblin patriarch."
No raid-- yeah right, Superman

Is it just me, or is this total hogwash?

I did this as a 34 druid with a 33 warrior, and we got absolutely creamed. I'd really love to hear from someone that did this solo. Frankly I don't beleive it! But if you did it, I'd love to hear how.

One possibility is that someone else was camping the king, and had the spawn all cleared out for you, and you just had one mob to kill.

When we were there, there were 5 blue mobs, with a mixture of healer, melee, and wizard types. Plus various green mobs that would heal and agro...

Ugly. I definately agree with the person that said do this as a guild raid.

I just did this quest for the first time today with my level 40 barb warrior. I went in alone and very rarely got aggroed on the way in. Once in the king room i got jumped by the patriarch, 2 elite gaurds, and a wizard. Killed the wizard (who kept healing the patriarch) then moved on and killed the patriarch and then the 2 elites. The patriarch dropped the totem and i was on my way with 30%hp left.

So yes, it can be soloed, i know i'm not a lvl 25 but it can still be solo'ed

Seriously, this does not require a raid. I went in with my lvl 39 shaman and summoned a pet. After I buffed the hell out of the pet, I used root and dots to pick and choose my target, wiping out the healers first and letting the pet work over the melees one at a time, making sure to keep root up. *shrug* You can do it solo quite easily if you know what you're doing.

Ya, youll find out easily that people who do this low levels know how2 actually play the game and not just stand still and hit the kick key for 3minutes strait

if your very sure that this cant be done....then u need to stop playing ogre, lol i eat ogre warriors my level and im a GNOME....i just want the crafted boots, BP, and maybe a bracer might sink in a Crusty Greaves but really do u have 2 pay 100+pp for a gem and most of this only gives 1 str!!! i have str equal to most troll warriors and the best thing is Gnome's agi...in the words of those annoying Ogres: Gn0mez r0x0rZ!
...ogres are cool...but most of their warriors are clicking newbies =) get good people when u do this quest that are lvl25+...and warriors on EQ CAN require skill...but usually not added

The first time i tried for these. I talked a lv 52 halfling druid to help me. He didnt invis, but didnt aggro anything till he stepped into king room. and the entire room Just gangbanged him while i watched in terror. I didnt get but 3 steps and was dead myself. Stupid see invis gob wizards. So, If you try this take a large group, or talk your guild into raiding it. I did and they got 2 totems. Really wish i was there.

As for a 52 druid getting raped, i dunno. I went in there and we sat in room next to vox, me and a 58wiz, and he owned the zone. If it wasn't for that jerk druid who shall remain nameless, myles, I would have died. He pulled the IG out and I got nailed running from it. Meh.

He must have done something really stupid like cast a low AE spell. Cause at that level he could stand about 20 feet away from a group of mobs and cast pull singles all day long.

Actually the mobs in the king/patriarch area of perma are the highest in the zone, outside the giant/vox area, are tough enough to aggro on any level player and most of them see invis. They also have some very weird pathing in this area and one aggrod mob tends to attract more and there is no spot to single pull mobs to in this area that doesn't have at least 3 healers near by. There is also a weird path to take and if one of the casters along there sees invis then you usually don't get nuked out of invisibility until you are standing next to another one. This tends to result in two mobs aggrod on you, one being an offensive caster, and if you panic at all it's very easy to die.

actually quite easily. While the mobs are all green, if you're not familiar with the strange pathing or the various mobs then you can quickly become over powered. My main is a 55 druid, and even fully buffed, the first time I went into perma (just looking around), I ended up egressing from that room almost dead. The next time in, I did find a spot to single pull them though and started wiping them out one by one, you just have to be carefull while doing it. There is a ledge on the far side of the room near the healer mobs (you need to lev up there). If you stand up there and use root/dot (be sure to snare too) with ALL your top dot's (winged, breath of ro, and drifting) you can take them down even though the other casters keep trying to heal (a nuke or two when the mob is around 30%hp's will seal their fate).

If you have high enough ac and enough hp's you can also stand in the middle of them and use an pbae a couple times to take them out :)

You need two sapphires. They can be bought in North Freeport upstairs at the blue store.

The quests begin being available to 25 warriors with the gauntlet quest. Get those, then slowly work on the rest over the next 10 levels. To get the Frost Totem, you will need a guild raid or 2 groups of at least 5. It has been done before. Good luck to all.

# May 09 2001 at 4:14 PM Rating: Default
The patriarc spawns on the left side of the stone on the bottom of the king room pit as you are looking into the passageway behind the spawn area that leads to the doors with the diplomat giant behind it...there are many spawns to clear on the way in that room to get at em tho
Exact location of Patriarch?

I went to the King's room once to camp the Ice Goblin Patriarch for the Frost Totem, but the room was very confusing. Could someone give the exact /loc where the Patriarch spawns?

If not then could someone give a verbal description?
