Nicholas is located at the paladin camp on a hill in the northeast part of the Mountains of Rathe. You need Amiable faction with Clerics of Underfoot to get this quest. You also need Amiable with Temple of Solusek Ro to get the Ronium.

    You say, 'Hail, Nicholas'

Nicholas says, 'Greetings, friend. I am the keeper of the [Boots of Ro]. Please rest here with us in our camp of righteousness. No harm can come to you while we paladins keep watch.'

    You say, 'Boots of Ro'

    If you are not amiable:

"You and I must be brothers and serve the Lord of Underfoot. Go to Kaladim and serve her cathedral. When you think you are ready. then ask Lord Datur if you are an [honored member] of the temple. If the answer is yes. then I will trust you."

    Once Amiable:

Nicholas says, 'If you desire the mold needed for smithing the Boots of Ro, then first, you shall prove your power. I have long sought an ancient holy weapon called the brazen brass kilij. I have heard rumors of detailed plans on how to make it, coming from Faydwer. Seek out the kilij plans. Bring them to me and you shall have the mold.'

The Kilij Plans drop off Sandgiant Husam in South Ro. Give the plans to Nicholas and receive Mold of Ro Boots.

Nicholas says, 'Ahh! The kilij! The legend was true. As for you... the mold for the Boots of Ro. Go and speak with Thomas for the final component. Ask him of [Lord Searfire]. Brell be with you.

Your faction standing with Clerics of Underfoot has been adjusted by 20.
Your faction standing with Kazon Stormhammer has been adjusted by 20.
Your faction standing with Miners Guild 249 has been adjusted by 15.

Thomas is located at the same camp, next to Abigail.

    You say, 'Lord Searfire'

Thomas says, 'Lord Searfire is a great forge master. He was called forth to the land of fire lakes. It is said that he now toils in the name of Solusek Ro within a hidden temple of that land. He and he alone knows how to obtain [ronium], a needed component for forging the sacred Armor of Ro.'

    You say, 'ronium'

Thomas says, 'It is an alloy created from two rare metals. Only [Lord Searfire] knows the formula.'

Now head to the Temple of Solusek Ro and meet Lord Searfire there

You say, 'what bar of ronium?'

Lord Searfire says 'You seek ronium. It is a fine blend of metals. I alone hold the secret of its formula. I, and I alone, can offer it to those who serve this temple. Do you wish a [bar of the alloy]?'

You say, 'I wish a bar of the alloy.'

If you don't have Amiable faction with Temple of Solusek Ro:

Lord Searfire says, 'There is much service to Ro which you must perform. I cannot trust you until you have proven your worth to us. Seek service within this temple or join the crusade within the desert of Ro.'

If you have Amiable (or better) faction with Temple of Solusek Ro:

Lord Searfire says 'Take this Sol Cauldron. Within it shall be combined elements of this world. You will add to it, melatite, two bars of enchanted platinum, Mistmoore granite, the sands of Ro and soil of Underfoot. If you be a master blacksmith, the elements shall combine to make the enchanted metal I have named 'ronium.''

You now need to gather components:
    - 1 Melatite from MB and MC clockworks in Solusek's Eye ;
    - 2 Enchanted Platinum Bar from enchanters ;
    - 1 Mistmoore Granite from gargoyles in Castle Mistmoore ;
    - 1 Sand of Ro from sand giants in South Ro and North Ro ;
    - 1 Soil of Underfoot from this quest.

Combine them in the Sol Cauldron to make a Bar of Ronium (no skill required).

Finally, combine the Bar of Ronium with the Mold of Ro Boots to make your Boots of Ro (no skill required).

    Raising Faction...
    # Sep 30 2003 at 2:00 AM Rating: Decent
To be able to start this quest with Nicholas, you will need a faction of Ambiably. The faction you will need to raise is with the "Clerics of Underfoot" - and the best way to raise this faction is by doing the Bone Chip quest out of Kaladim North.

To do the quest, collect stacks of bone chips, and then head over to the Paladin's Guild in Kaladim North. Find Gunlok Jure, and turn bonechips into him - (4 at a time, NOT STACKED) - he will give you money, but raise your faction as well.

Going with the example of starting with a apprehensive faction, it will take at least 12 stacks to raise your faction to Amiably, took 15 stacks for me, but have a friend who did it in 12 stacks.

I hope this clears up any confusion some of the older posts may give you...

UGH! The factions as a result of this quest are disgusting from what I've seen. By the time you're done, Dark Elves love you, and Gnomes hate you. What kind of Paladin is that!?

Plus bad fairy faction? Come on... fairies are a good race.

You don't know what your talking about. First off, to get all the peices of Ro armor you need to fix faction with EVERY paladin guild out there. You don't get postive DE faction at all. And with all the soil of underfoot I've gotten I'm warmly to the dwarves. Gnomes love me, everyone loves me, except for DE, Trolls, ogres, and iksar. :P

I left the game a year ago and I had completed ALL the Ro armor quests-- and theres no getting away from the fact that they are a royal pain in the ***- However- The satisfaction of having a full set of Ro- that you got yourself ( I atually cried when I got my bp)is worth it, after all Paladins love questing by nature- dont we?:)

Anyway My paladin is now lwvel 16 and This time Im starting work on faction much earlier- Im hoping by the time i get to 30 or so it will all be a lot more straight foreward than it was before:) -- Or am i just kidding myself:)?

Judging from reading this entire thread, I would have to say no. I am planning on starting these quests and will employ a full group of guildies, of course, this means that it will take a while to do all the steps what with having to coordinate 6 people's schedules. I already have 2 granite from MM, and need to get more. This should be a fun ride...

Don't look at the list of Quest Items it will ***** you up. Instead read what it states in section two of the instructions. Now, i'm not clear on a lot of this right now but will be in a month or so since I'll be doing the quests. Thought I'd research it first so i'm not wasting any time. I'm fairly certain that the ingredients for making Ronium will remain the same no matter what type of armor youre after. So, you'll need:
    -Melatite
    -Two Bars of Enchanted Platinum
-Soil of Underfoot (received by turning in Fairy Dust)
    -Sands of Ro
    -Mistmoore Granite (NO DROP)
Not certain about the Fairy Dust or Fairy Princess Dust but I pray to the Gods that it is the Fairy Dust seeing that the Princess Dust is a rare drop.
Since I'm going to go for it I may as well make some Ronium and sell it because the average price of Ronium far exceeds the price of the items.
Any corrections to what i have said above will be appreciated and of course I will correct anything I find during this quest that is not exactly right.

These quest are way to tough for the rewards. But in a guild raid i personally got a bunch for granites and the 2 cauldons for the bp but in my travels i have picked up way better stuff in normally grp exp-hunting so if u wish to go for these guest i suggest stockin up on some plat for bone chips (easy quest for most cleric guilds for faction) find the guy in soro and pay him off try to get in on a MM raid and while u are in soro shout for sands of ro and the plans off hussan i picked up 4 sands and the plans for about 25pp total. The hardest one that have havent done and still want is the vambs those damn plague sharks in eurd's crossin (rare spawn and way under con'd) hope this helps some

    Hi Drasek.

To make the Ro armor you need 2 things.
    1. a Mold
    2. A bar of the material ronium.

You get the mold by turning in different items for the different parts (the plans of kilij is for the boots, a locket is for gloves etc) to a person in Rathe mountains.

To get the ronium you have to gather the ingredianses (sand of ro, mistmoore granite, soil of underfoot, 2 enchanted platinum and Melatite) You combine them in a cauldron wich is given to you by a dwarf in Temple Of Solusek Ro. the result is the a bar of ronium.

To make the part of the armor you take the mold and the ronium and combine them in a forge, then you get the armor pieces.

That means that you can gather all the ingrediances for the Ronium before you start collecting the unike items for every part of the Ro armor.

A message to all you pally's out there, I've been tryin to get all these molds and wasting time on faction and all that crap and u know what ro armour is garbage. I got a full set of rygorr armour now at lvl 38 and it rocks, it blows ro armour right out of the water and a lot easier to get. Just a little advice if you guys are getting as sick as this quest as I was because it is very time consuming and as far as I am concerned a waste of time. Just my 2 bits

Kill shadowed men. That is much faster. You can also give the mage with the orc in South Ro gold coins if I remember right. That is much easier obviously. He gives rewards that can be sold so you can minimize your costs as well. I dont remember how expensive it is though.

You have to give Otarius, a named Ork in the NW Corner of South Ro, 3 Derv Rings. Do this so often you can. Your faction with Temple of Ro will raise. Hope this may help.

There is character behind Otarius(can't remember the name). If you give him either 3pp or 30gp at a time your faction will raise with the Temple of Sol Ro. From indeifferent con it takes around 30pp to get your faction to amiable. Just performed the other day and I spent 30pp in 3pp increments and went back to Lord Searfire with amiable faction. Hope this helps. Good Luck to You.

Actually I'd like to know one thing that has to do with all the paladin quests (P.S. you guys all got screwed on your quests, what a royal pain they are, better have a high level enchanter as your main, geesh.) How much of the stuff is NODROP?

I'm pretty sure MM granite is nodrop, but what about the Solusek Cauldron or the soil of underfoot or the finished ronium product? I've seen people trade fairy dust and sands of ro before and I know that the platinum is tradeable but what about the rest of this stuff? Are any of the molds that you quest for to combine with the ronium tradeable too?

The reason I'm curious is I play a few different characters on the server with my paladin and most of them are pretty close in level and I'd like to know how much of this stuff I can obtain and then give to another character. This is important to me since all of these quests are such a pain to begin with and it would be a little easier if I could obtain items based on whichever character is in the right place at the right time and/or has higher faction with whoever gives each part of a given quest.
    RE: Ronium
    # Jan 11 2002 at 1:21 PM Rating: Decent
    NO DROP items include:

    The Sol Cauldron from Searfire
All Molds given in Rathe Mnt.
    Granite from MM
Soil of Underfoot (Faerie Dust is tradeable tho)

    Tradeable are:

    Sand of Ro
    Melatite (hearsay)

My spouse is doing the quest right now with her palli and I do help her (with 36 bard). A reliable Bard or Enc are great, since you can save alot of faction work if they collect and combine.

    No, you don't need water.
Just combine the bar of ronium and the mold in any standard forge ( make sure its a forge, I have heard of people accidentally using a kiln or oven ) and hit combine.
I remember sweating as I hit combine for the first time, fearing that all the work I had put into ronium questing would be wasted. Luckily I have never had a ronium mishap.

Melatite seems to be scarce in Sol A, but I had better luck with it in one particular area. The clockworks around the lava elemental seemed to drop it fairly frequently. I was able to get 7 bricks of it in about an hour. There are 5 or 6 clockworks in the room, so be prepared for a big fight initially, as they will come to the aid of their comrades. Good luck
