Watchman Dexlin is located at -4149, +1200, +17.35 in North Karana, on the first floor of the tower before the bridge to South Karana.

Dexlin's placeholder is Bilbis Briar. Watchman Dexlin may spawn at 8 AM or 8 PM in place of Bilbis Briar after he despawns. Then he stays up for 12 in-game hours (36 minutes).

You say, 'Hail, Watchman Dexlin'

Watchman Dexlin says 'It is about time I met up with someone I can tolerate. Most of the residents in these plains shun gnomes. I woull happily leave if I could just find those [pesky skeletons]!'

You say, 'What pesky skeletons?'

Watchman Dexlin says 'I was sent here by the Gemchoppers to seek out a pocketful of skeletons. They are a creation of one of Ak'Anon's exiled citizens. He practiced the dark circle of magic and came to find the necromancers of Antonica. He created and imported undead brownies to this realm. We must find them to study them. I can't seem to find them! If only I could find a [brave fighter] to assist me.'

You say, 'I am a brave fighter.'

Your faction standing with Gem Choppers has been adjusted by -10.

Don't worry about the small faction loss, it's only a mechanic to prevent people of spawning 10 undeads throughout the zone only by hailing Dexlin. You'll get the faction back at next step.

Watchman Dexlin says 'Very good. Take this tin box. Fill each slot with the remains of the tiny undead, should you find them here. I know not how many exist, but I am sure that returning this tin box full shall suffice. Be quick, I have other matters to to attend to. I shall depart when next my sundial points to eight.'

You receive an Empty Tin Box.. At the same time, about 10 tiny skeletons spawn throughout the zone and roam. They show on track as " *a tiny skeleton " since they're loot-locked.

Find and kill 4 tiny skeletons and loot 4 Very Tiny Crumpled Skeletons. Combine them in the Empty Tin Box to craft a Box Full of Tiny Bones..

Hand Watchman Dexlin the Box Full of Tiny Bones.

Watchman Dexlin says 'Good work. Unfortunately, I must investigate other matters in the name of Ak'Anon. Here. You deliver the tin box to Lord Jenork of the Gemchoppers. He shall reward you. Be safe my friend. I must go now. Farewell.'

Hand Narron the Box of Undead Brownie Bones.

Narron Jenork says 'Wonderful! Watchman Dexlin sent word that you would be returning these specimens. I shall see that the Eldritch Collective gets them. For you there is a reward. Manik has donated a pair of Watchman boots!'

#Anonymous, Posted: Oct 12 2000 at 3:18 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I think I can speak for everyone on this topic. Please people when you know that someone has been camping for a long time, don't pester them about when they are going to leave. Don't sit down next to them to "wait" until they are done. You might be waiting a long time and then the time it takes for you to complete your camp on top of that. The NPC will always respawn and will always be there. Just ask them kindly if they will send you a tell when they are done and 9 times out of 10 they will. These players are tired from camping that long of a period and quite understandably a little grouchy and become extremely nervous at the thought of someone possibly stealing their kill. So, be courteous.

easiest way to find the little guys is with sence dead spell and then keep ward undead ready for when they get in range it will make them come to you just keep casting sense dead till you get close enough to them

See the bright blue letters of "Watchman's Boots"? Thats a link, click it. See the words "Charges: 1"? That means it's a charged item, with one charge of SoW.
PermaSow or not??????
# Sep 14 2000 at 11:39 PM Rating: Default
I have seen the question asked several times, but no one answers it. are these boots permas sow? or it is 1 use of sow, then they are just boots?

Not broken

Just got the four set of bones and completed box... took 20 minutes to get the four sets of bones by myself - the key - the tiny skels spawn out beyond the spires - if you can't find anymore, go back to the watchman, say the keywords again... and you have more skeles in the field :) . Therefore barely any looking :) - they are still damn small though, hehe!
Broken?
# Aug 08 2000 at 8:14 PM Rating: Decent
I have waited three days and Bilbis hasen't even despawned. Is the quest broken?
RE: Broken?
# Sep 11 2000 at 3:02 PM Rating: Default
The quest is not broken BUT you have to go to AkAnon and start the quest in the warrior guild there. It is easiest to do if you are/ or have someone who can TP you around to do this. Drexlin will spawn within a day or two gametime after you do that. If you happen to see him there it is because someone else has started the quest. I know this because I have done the quest twice (yes they are lore but I do not have both pairs on me before someone calls me an idiot) You do need to hurry and kill the skeletons and get the combined box back to Drexlin before 8AM or you will miss him. You can hold the box but you will have to start the quest in AkAnon again to have him respawn. As for the skeles... they are tiny but they will aggro(or did me at the time i did the quest) and they will gang up on you. If you go beyond the spires and zig zag along the road it is fairly easy to get them on you. If you can't find them go back through the Hail and talking to Drexlin and more will spawn out there. I hope this helps anyone out that is looking for these boots. =)

The quest definitely works. It took me a couple of weeks to complete though. I'm a 19th Wood Elf Ranger, so my faction wasn't high enough with Dexlin initially to start the quest. So, I spent an afternoon killing Mino Slavers in Steamfont to get my faction to amiable. The next time I spotted Dexlin, I hailed him and got the box. Interestingly enough, I didn't receive any faction hit. And I made sure to check it after he gave me the box. I was still amiable. At that point I tracked out near the gypsy camp to the Tiny Skellys. I found and pulled one to the WK border. However, they must have a HUGE aggro range. Because when I turned to fight my 1 Skelly, I now had about 6. Hee hee... I was immediatly swarmed, and was stunned so often that I was unable to flee to safety. By the time I ran back from Rivervale, the NK zone went down. So, I then had to continue on another date. Anyhow, after 2 more Dexlin spawns over the course of the next week I was able to accumulate the necessary 4 bones. I combined them, gave it to Dexlin, ran off to Ak'Anon and got my new boots. They look great, and I've had a couple people offer to buy them. But, they're not for sale...yet! BTW, on Monday this week Dexlin spawned THREE times in a 10 hour period. It was totally amazing. (Now that I have my boots, he'll probably spawn every 4 hours or something. Hee hee...)

seems to me that the faction hit is intended to prevent you from avoiding the time limit: getting the quest, killing some/all skeles, then dumping the box, come back later, restart the quest, get the rest of the skeles, and finish. By lowering your faction, they make it hard for you to start quest a second time.

Dexlin or Bilbis Briar spawns at 8 am game time, Dexlin being the rare spawn. You have to have good faction with gemchoppers to do this quest, so unless you're a gnome, you're going to have to work it up. When Dexlin gives you the box, your faction with gemchoppers will be lowered enough to the point where you cannot restart the quest, Dex won't talk to you. When you turn in the box after collecting the skeletons and combining them, your faction will be raised again. Then turn the box in to the guy in Ak'anon (Lord Jenork)

Fool spawning
# Aug 01 2000 at 10:57 PM Rating: Decent
Dexlin spawned on Morell-Thule at 5:30 PM this tuesday... But don't even thought about these boots if you can't track... and don't forget to combine the tiny skel bones in the box !
By the way, how much can the Watchman Boots be sold ?????
RE: Fool spawning
# Mar 07 2001 at 2:14 PM Rating: Decent
think the site was saying that the boots are worth 123pp
Cool looking
# Aug 01 2000 at 10:39 AM Rating: Decent
THe reason you wanna do this quest is because the boots are very very cool looking. THey look like steel boots. Trust me, you will turn a few heads with these boots

Spawn??
# Jul 30 2000 at 12:36 PM Rating: Decent
I have been camping Dexlin for the past week- is this quest broke?- must have sat for a least 30-40 times at 8am waiting for Dexlin to spawn and he never does- even had a guy in Akanon talk to the guy in warriors guild and then waited the next three days- no pop. Anyone done quest recently?
Why would you use it?
# Jul 30 2000 at 12:18 AM Rating: Decent
The reason you would want these boots are because the other stats are better than, say, Bronze, or something else like that and the skeles are relatively low level, making it a nice pair of low-level boots
RE: Why would you use it?
# Feb 24 2001 at 3:01 PM Rating: Default
Also, if you are able to use Kick, this will let you be able to melee anything that needs a magicical weapon to attack (willow wisps, ect)
if not rechargable....
# Jul 27 2000 at 3:52 PM Rating: Decent
If it's not rechargable are the boots worth having? And do you have SoW all the time they are on?
Why in druid quest?
# Jul 24 2000 at 5:33 PM Rating: Decent
Why is this in druid quests if druids cant use it?
Finish the Quest!
# Jul 22 2000 at 4:01 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, first if you start this quest, FINISH IT!

You take a nasty faction hit to Gemchoppers just to be given this quest, in fact, I took such a bad faction hit that I couldn't finish it. (Went from Amiable to Indiff). So just remember that if you take this quest, you finish at least gathering the skeletons.
Re: Drovar
# Jul 19 2000 at 4:49 AM Rating: Decent
That theory doesn't work unfortunately, Drovar. I had a Staff of the observers that I got when I was lvl 8 a friend gave it to me. I used the charge of sentinel leaving it at 44, around level 20 I stopped using weapons and let it sit in the bank til level 35 at which I sold it - still had 44 charges.
Waiting for Dexlin
# Jul 14 2000 at 10:18 AM Rating: Decent
If you are waiting for Dexlin to spawn, here's how he works, roughly. At 8AM Bilbus Briar (or Dexlin) despawns. About 9AM either Bilbus or Dexlin with spawn in the same place. However, if someone has aggroed Bilbus or Dexlin, they won't despawn properly. So, if you see Bilbus out of place and he isn't disappearing at around 8AM, you'll have to either petition to get Bilbus back to his proper spot, or wait until the game goes down for a patch. Incidently, that's also the way to keep Dexlin around past 8AM, aggro him and zone, and he'll be around for a long time. (Probably until someone completes the quest, since he immediately despawns when you hand in your completed box.)
#Anonymous, Posted: Jul 11 2000 at 6:17 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Supposedly charged items can be recharged by leaving them in the bank for one real word day per charge. I've only got one charged item and haven't had to recharge it yet, so I can't confirm this.
Recharge?
# Jul 09 2000 at 1:54 PM Rating: Decent
Is there an way to recharge the boots?
is it permenant SoW ?
# Jul 09 2000 at 1:13 PM Rating: Decent
don't need track!
# Jul 07 2000 at 1:10 PM Rating: Decent
You don't need to have someone that has track, you could also use someone that has the spell Sense the Dead. It works very well to find them, and is a low level spell so you don't have to enlist a ranger or 20+ druid, as they are sometimes harder to find.
Watchman Boots
# Jul 04 2000 at 11:38 AM Rating: Decent
The Spawn Despawn is at 8AM game time. i recomend you enlist the add of a druid or a combo of someone that can track and get a sow. the skels are small and fast.. good luck !!!! i like mine :)
Timing
# Jun 28 2000 at 8:18 PM Rating: Decent
It took a friend of mine a very very long time to complete this quest, mainly because of the spawn time on Dexlin. But.. it took me two day to finish it. I saw him one day, got the box got one skelly (can't track) then said I'd finish it later. Lo and behold next day he was up again, so I spam him a lot and get a tracker and poof, I'm done. Now I just need to get to bignose city...
Not too bad of an item to have and fairly easy to get if you're not in a rush.
