Watchman Dexlin is located at -4149, +1200, +17.35 in North Karana, on the first floor of the tower before the bridge to South Karana.

Dexlin's placeholder is Bilbis Briar. Watchman Dexlin may spawn at 8 AM or 8 PM in place of Bilbis Briar after he despawns. Then he stays up for 12 in-game hours (36 minutes).

You say, 'Hail, Watchman Dexlin'

Watchman Dexlin says 'It is about time I met up with someone I can tolerate. Most of the residents in these plains shun gnomes. I woull happily leave if I could just find those [pesky skeletons]!'

You say, 'What pesky skeletons?'

Watchman Dexlin says 'I was sent here by the Gemchoppers to seek out a pocketful of skeletons. They are a creation of one of Ak'Anon's exiled citizens. He practiced the dark circle of magic and came to find the necromancers of Antonica. He created and imported undead brownies to this realm. We must find them to study them. I can't seem to find them! If only I could find a [brave fighter] to assist me.'

You say, 'I am a brave fighter.'

Your faction standing with Gem Choppers has been adjusted by -10.

Don't worry about the small faction loss, it's only a mechanic to prevent people of spawning 10 undeads throughout the zone only by hailing Dexlin. You'll get the faction back at next step.

Watchman Dexlin says 'Very good. Take this tin box. Fill each slot with the remains of the tiny undead, should you find them here. I know not how many exist, but I am sure that returning this tin box full shall suffice. Be quick, I have other matters to to attend to. I shall depart when next my sundial points to eight.'

You receive an Empty Tin Box.. At the same time, about 10 tiny skeletons spawn throughout the zone and roam. They show on track as " *a tiny skeleton " since they're loot-locked.

Find and kill 4 tiny skeletons and loot 4 Very Tiny Crumpled Skeletons. Combine them in the Empty Tin Box to craft a Box Full of Tiny Bones..

Hand Watchman Dexlin the Box Full of Tiny Bones.

Watchman Dexlin says 'Good work. Unfortunately, I must investigate other matters in the name of Ak'Anon. Here. You deliver the tin box to Lord Jenork of the Gemchoppers. He shall reward you. Be safe my friend. I must go now. Farewell.'

Your faction standing with Gem Choppers has been adjusted by 10.
Your faction standing with Merchants of AkAnon has been adjusted by 2.
Your faction standing with King AkAnon has been adjusted by 2.
Your faction standing with Dark Reflection has been adjusted by -2.

You receive a Box of Undead Brownie Bones and Watchman Dexlin despawns.

Narron Jenork is located in Ak'Anon at 847, -441 in the Gemchoppers Hall. He's a warrior guildmaster.

Hand Narron the Box of Undead Brownie Bones.

Narron Jenork says 'Wonderful! Watchman Dexlin sent word that you would be returning these specimens. I shall see that the Eldritch Collective gets them. For you there is a reward. Manik has donated a pair of Watchman boots!'

i've been here all week and he has never spawned or the skellies
Where does he spawn?
# Aug 01 2001 at 10:43 PM Rating: Default
Does he spawn on the bridge thats going to SK or does he spawn at another bridge? I've been looking at the bridge that goes to SK but he's never there.

Nail a couple posts here . . .
He will spawn on the second floor of the tower on the white bridge, that is the one that leads to South Karana. He is a very rare spawn. The only two times I have found him have been just after sunset. You have to be very fast doing this quest. I have done it twice now and only been successful once. The first time I probably spent about 15-20 minutes, this time I only spent about 10 or less. He is very impatient. The skeletons will spawn about 1 minute after you get the bone collection box. About 10 skeletons will spawn. Head out between the wizard spires and the gypsy camp and have tracking, you will need it.
What bridge?
# Aug 01 2001 at 7:35 PM Rating: Default
I'm confused with this quest. Is the bridge the one that goes to South Karana? Is the wizard spires near it because I was ported there. I need to know to complete this quest
how many remains u need?

Dexlin Spawn Tip
# Jun 29 2001 at 4:07 PM Rating: Good
I think there's a trick to getting Watchman Dexlin to spawn. Create a gnome warrior mule and park him next to Narron Jenork at the Gemchoppers (warrior) Guild in Ak'Anon. Bring the character doing the quest to NK and Bilbis Briar (2nd floor on the stone bridge to SK). Bilbis will despawn at 8am. When he is gone, log in as your mule, and hail Narron, following the quest thread by saying anything in brackets. I think it'll be as follows:

1.) Hail.
2.) What watchmen?
3.) Who is Dexlin?

Then, log back in as your other character, and voila! Watchman Dexlin!

The stuff about him only spawning on Friday (in-game) is garbage. He spawned on an in-game Saturday for me.
Same chr required?

Yes they are. I like the STA+5 now that I'm dual wielding (half elf ranger), but I think I prefer the look of my old BI boots.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 09 2001 at 10:38 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I don't know even know where north karana is? If u can help me my name is "wazabi" in the terris thule srerver. Im mostly on the weekends (friday-sunday).
Not that great
# Apr 28 2001 at 12:29 PM Rating: Default
These boots are not that great. The TRIGGERED effect of SOW means you get one charge of SOW and then that is it. As far as I know, these are NOT rechargeable, so please be sure that you are giving accurate information here.

# Mar 07 2001 at 2:21 PM Rating: Decent
this is my first character to reach this high and new to the game but learning fast ,,,,,,have to fulfil a this quest to become knight in guild, am wondering if it is truely necessary to be at lvl 15 to start this quest or will he reward you the boots before then... i know im gonna need a ranger to help trrack them for me since war vision is pretty much looking through a sooted window but have been trying to get to 15 to start quest and it seems like its taken forever!!!!ANY help with getting quest answered b4 then would help

The faction is more important than the lev in this case. You dont have to be 15 to get the quest just have the faction.
Note: If unable to obtain a ranger use of Cleric, Necro, or SK to Sense the dead work as well since other than the tiny skels the only other undead in zone are way up nrth where the named guys spawn for the cleric bracer quest and the monolith over near the raiders. Use of Sense the dead from the bridge should point you straight to the nearest tiny skel

Go with a buddy to Steam font to the dragon skeleton (skellie exp) or bb bandit camps. Decently safe if your w a ranger hehe. Then do the quest. I'm gonna help my fav little tank get a pair of these and hes at 14 and i at 15.I went to these skellies alone and hit 15 but had some healing for myself. Good luck

COMPLETED
# Mar 07 2001 at 8:44 AM Rating: Default
This is the first quest I've completed (other than newbie semi-quests). The biggest problem is that Watchman Dexlin is SO RARE. I actually gave up on the quest after waiting for an entire weekend for him to spawn. I was passing through the area and sent an ooc msg asking if Dexlin was at the stone bridge, and he was. So I began the quest, and my level 20 ranger tracked the skeletons, most of which were blue cons. Unfortunately, about 6-8 skeletons were running together. They were very fast (I had SOW up, too). And they swarmed me. I kited back to the teleport ring, where some tough chars helped me out and let me loot the skeletons, or I wouldn't have been able to complete the quest. For as tough a quest as this can be (waiting, and the swarm of skels), it would take a group of level 17-20 chars, or kind help, like I got. All in all, the boots really aren't worth the trouble for most people, but I enjoyed completing the quest nonetheless.

Can one have the 4 tiny skeletons on you 1st?
# Feb 01 2001 at 8:05 PM Rating: Decent
Has anyone tried having the 4 tiny skellys in inventory before you start? Or is this rigged to where you have to get them after..? Thx

they spawn after
Despawn
# Jan 04 2001 at 7:05 PM Rating: Decent
Something to note if trying to have two people complete this quest at one time is that Watchman Dexlin will despawn after the first completes the quest. To have the second complete the quest you will have to wait for him to respawn:(
Will Dexlin EVER spawn!???
# Mar 22 2001 at 4:31 PM Rating: Default
I have waited for 8 real life hours for Watchman Dexlin to spawn on the stone bridge of North Karana. I have even scanned the area around this bridge. Is there somthing I could be doing thats not right?

LvL to complete this quest
# Jan 04 2001 at 2:08 AM Rating: Default
My Ranger was running through North Karana just after gaining lvl 17 recently (imagine that) when I noticed quite a few tiny skeletons on tracking. I knew what quest they were for so I thought I'ld give them a try. This was before tracking would consider the mobs for you. When I ran into them I was immediatly surrounded. I must have spotted them just as they spawned because they were very close to me and all close together. They conned blue to me but were hitting much harder than that because in seconds I was down to under 1/4 hp. I ran for my life because I had no help and without SoW I had no way to kite 6 blues all at once. I gave a shout that I was bringing them to the chain bridge but when I arrived and turned around they were gone.
RE: LvL to complete this quest
# Mar 07 2001 at 8:52 AM Rating: Default
I got lucky that I had SOW when I encountered them with my 20 Ranger. So I ran to the teleport area and cried for help. Some tough chars came to my aid, and let me loot the corpses. I was under 1 bubble of health, though, so this is a tough quest by virtue of the swarm of tiny skeletons that will get on top of you.

Recharge
# Dec 09 2000 at 12:42 AM Rating: Default
Ok...I will ask again. I know it only says one charge and all that. After using that one stinkin charge is there a way to recharge these suckers?
RE: Recharge
# Dec 12 2000 at 10:56 PM Rating: Decent
Just wondering. In iceclad, you can buy mana batteries. Apparently they are for all watchman armour. At EQ traders corner it says you can replace the charge by replacing the mana battery for all watchman gear and the boots take a class five battery. This is for tinkered items but I wonder how you would replace battery and if the boots would be the same as the tinkered boots from the tinkering skill. Anybody know anything about this?
RE: Recharge
# Dec 18 2000 at 5:43 AM Rating: Decent
I'm a little confused...This seems to be the result of the quest but in another section, it says that watchman boots are now tinkered. Is it both?
Recipe is : Watchman Boots = Unstained Small Fine Plate Greaves + Cogs + Sprockets + Grease + Faun Hoof + Class five mana battery + Metal fastening + metal twine + gnomish bolts
RE: Recharge
# Dec 21 2000 at 3:28 PM Rating: Decent
It may be..

then again, it may be that Watchman boots can be tinkered, BUT only the tinkered ones allow recharges
A question regarding the boots
# Nov 25 2000 at 4:00 AM Rating: Default
It says on the boots that it has the EFFECT: Spirit of Wolf. I know of swords that have EFFECT's, like Ghoulbane's EFFECT : Dismiss Undead, and I want a clarification. Doesn't this mean that the boots will proc just like Ghoulbane would? Just curious.
weak sow spell
# Nov 23 2000 at 1:35 AM Rating: Default
If this is a one shot only then gone forever sow spell then it is very disappointing. I accidentaly had my friend targeted when I cast it and he already had sow from a level 30 druid so it did not take hold. You would think for a one-shot only spell it would at least overide anyother form of sow. Like Zaxum I also have an observers staff in the bank and I have yet to see it recharge by just sitting there. The only alternative I see is to do the quest again, if I have the patience.
Desc. quest
# Nov 14 2000 at 3:50 PM Rating: Default
Quest wasn't that bad, took awhile checking for Dexlin off and on but when I Finally saw him I jumped on it. Of course my faction wasn't good enough so I had to kill some mino's then I was able to get the box, used my Pally to located the Skelly's (YES THEY ARE SMALL!!) but my pally using "sense the undead" lead me right to them...a must! Pretty much everything was correct, only diff being you say "I am a brave FIGHTER" to dexlin. Hope this helps, boots are very cool
RE: Desc. quest
# Nov 23 2000 at 1:39 AM Rating: Default
When I did the quest with my druid I was able to track the little suckers. However, after todays patch I now cannot track them. Anyone else notice this? I had to ask a pally to help out.
have them
# Oct 19 2000 at 10:44 AM Rating: Default
I recently finished this quest after camping dexlin off and on for months. The stamina buff on the boots make them nice but if your looking for speed dont get these boots because so far i cant figure a way to recharge them. I just did the quest because its hard and thats what makes the game fun. You can buy anything in E Commons but whats the point you might as well go to ebay and spend your real money(that is if your a fool)
just how rare is it?
# Oct 18 2000 at 10:08 PM Rating: Default
Been camping Dexlin for five realtime days... just how rare is this spawn?

BTW if you see Bilbis fail to despawn, forget about petitioning. They can't do anything- he has to be killed. A lvl 41 necro took him down for me ( i had to aggro him to get him out of the tower- he hit my lvl18 ranger for 200 dam before my SoW saved me.) He was red to the necro and it took 20mins to kite him to death. So be warned.
unlimited sow?
# Oct 17 2000 at 7:09 AM Rating: Decent
Is it true that all you have to do is trade an item that has "charges" to a PC and the item is recharged?
RE: unlimited sow?
# Oct 23 2000 at 6:38 PM Rating: Default
no, i dont think so... it said one charge of sow...
RE: unlimited sow?
# Mar 07 2001 at 2:12 PM Rating: Default
if it was unlimited sow there would be no reason for shammies after this quest was done so doubt that there will ever be the time for unlimited sow boots
RE: unlimited sow?
# Jun 11 2001 at 3:52 AM Rating: Decent
EXCUSE ME? Have you ever grouped with a shaman? Hmm, buffing every stat except wis+int, quickness, regen, debuffs, heals, etc ... hmm if there was an item that had unlimited charges of bind there would be no reason for any casters ;P
RE: unlimited sow?

ever hear of j-boots or t-boots??
