This is the fourth in a series of five tasks.

Find Scout Madu in Goru'kar Mesa at loc -1850, -700. This is a short distance to the west of the zoneline to Blightfire Moors.

This task requires that you have already completed "Soothe the Savage Beast?". At the end of that task...

You have acquired a wand that just might soothe the savage beast.

Scout Madu says 'Well done! I have the wand. If I can find someone willing to [try again], perhaps this wand will allow us to speak to the Dromrek.'

You say, 'I will try again'

Scout Madu says 'Be careful. Try and talk to the same as before, just be sure that you do not kill them first.'

You have been assigned the task 'Parlay with the Dromrek, Again'.

You receive a Bixie Dust Wand.

Speak with the Dromrek. Use the wand if you need to, it might make them more friendly. Report what you have found to Scout Madu.

Equip the wand and use it to placate each Dromrek for a few seconds, enough for you to hail and get a task update. You should have enough time to recast invisibility and thus avoid having to kill anything. The wand has 10 charges and there are 5 Dromreks to speak to.

Speak with Dromrek cook - Goru`kar Mesa

Dromrek Cook says 'Parley? You Parsley? You get in pot. Bigone wants make more food. More food cook make.'

Speak with Dromrek provisioner - Goru`kar Mesa

Dromrek Provisioner says 'You give stuff. When me move you give stuff anyway but wit blood. Blood good. Bigone want stuff for plan. More stuff me get'

Speak with foodpicker - Goru`kar Mesa

Foodpicker says 'No Talk. You good meat. Meat no talk. Bigone want more meet for Cook for big fight.'

Speak with bashermaker - Goru`kar Mesa

Bashermaker says 'Bones make good sticks for bashers. You no talk when you just bones. Bigone wants more bashers. You make good bones.'

Speak with Bigone - Goru`kar Mesa

Bigone says 'Bigone not talk to you. Not tell about plan to go squish the little things. You not make Bigone say anything about it. Smallboss would not like if Bigone tell of plans to go south and squish little things.'

Speak with Scout Madu - Goru`kar Mesa

You say, 'Hail, Scout Madu'

Your task 'Parlay with the Dromrek, Again' has been updated.

You have discovered that the Dromrek are planning a raid into the lands to the south.

You gain experience!!

Scout Madu says 'Oh dear. That's not good. They are less intelligent than I expected. It seems like they are not smart enough to want to parlay, but are only interested in killing. I need you to slow down their advance. Can you kill the [leader] of the outliers for me? That should slow down their plans.'

This is the lead-in to the task 'Reduce the Dromrek Threat'.

I've done this quest before on other characters, but have just completed it again today.

This was done as a paladin, accompanied by a rogue merc, but the merc wasn't really required.

Paladin self-buffed only, no external assistance.

Starting from that raised ridge ground to the east of the giants, just by the passage way that leads to the Steppes zone. You can get a good view of where the giants are and see who stands and who moves around.

Once comfortable the way is clear, and know where going to and retreating back from....

  • At range, use the "pacify" spell to lower the aggro range of the giant.
  • step closer and closer, try to click the wand with the giant targeted
  • when it casts, and see the blue cloud, hail and get the quest update
  • immediately back up out of range

This strategy, was rinse n repeated for each named giant, with no aggro, no running out of zone, not fight required. Certainly, no scrambling around to use invis potions or clickies.

I did clear a couple of the trash giants, as didn't trust their pathing or my space awareness whilst moving to and away from the named giants.

Where is Bigone?

I have been watching his spawn point for nearly 12 hours grinding on the giants with no spawn.....Is it broken?

The wand has a fairly long cast time, so it is easy to get interrupted.
If you run out of charges:
1. destroy the current wand
2. go to Madu again he will give you a second wand

Try the invis for approach: hit with wand : drop invis & Hail: invis again --- The Steppes are close.

after the tank clicks his wand, everyone can hail for the task update. so no need for everyone to wait to click theirs

If you wand is out of charge drop the quest and get it again.
If you do this a 2nd time be sure to destroy the first wand
before you get the quest for the 2nd time.
Your spell would not take hold.

Just a caution for anyone doing this with more than 1 person at a time.

If you try to use your wand too early after someone else just did, and that person is higher level than you, your spell will not hold until theirs has worn off, so make sure the lowest goes first, or you wait a bit.

I just invis'd up to the mobs when the others pathed away. Wand is insta click, so no aggro, click wand, hail, then re-invis. No seat, no hassle, (other than that higher level person's spell blocking yours, hehe.)
The quickest way to do this...

Is as follows, IF you're a tank and can take a little bit of a beating... My Warrior at level 55 completed it this way in a group with a 61 Druid and a 53 Warrior.

First, Bigone is trouble for finger-wigglers - hits for up to 450, summons. Because he summons, there are only a few good options for dealing with him. The rest of the mobs pose no significant problems.

Second, you MUST equip the Bixie Dust Wand to use the placate clicky spell. The spell is insta-cast. The only thing that will stop you getting the spell off is a stun from a giant hitting you.

Our litle party approached the task this way:

1) We cleared giants out that were not part of the quest who were in the way of where we wanted to go (Shamans, Hunters, Bashers). The XP is better than a stick in your eye, the plat is good, and if something goes wrong (an invis dropping, etc...), you don't have to worry too much about adds.

2) We parked a little way away from Bigone, and then the druid invised my 55 Warrior. I ran the Warrior up to Bigone, targeted him, right clicked the wand, hailed him, and then ran. Worked like a charm. If you are a caster that can invis, instead of running after hailing just cast invis on yourself and get away from Bigone - you'll be fine. Repeat as necessary for the members of your group.

3) For the rest of the giants, continue clearing to open up the area for your next part of the quest, all of the rest of the giants you need are near the Steppes zone line, a little to the west of it (the Provisioner runs around, but generally in this area). You may want the area clear where the Cook, Foodpicker, Bashermaker and Provisioner are to limit adds - and the XP and Plat aren't bad.

CASTER/INVIS-CAPABLE TECHNIQUE:

Zone with your group into the Steppes. Invis yourself, zone into the Mesa, and then repeat your technique used on Bigone. Run up close, use the wand, hail, re-invis yourself, move on to the next giant. If you accidentally aggro something, just zone to the Steppes, re-invis yourself and try again.

WARRIOR/TANK TECHNIQUE:

DO NOT ATTACK THE GIANTS. You're not going to attack ANYTHING in this process. Zone into the Steppes. No need for this invis nonsense now as long as you are 53ish, have cleared the way for yourself by killing the non-important giants that clutter up the area, and can take a minor beating. Equip the wand in your primary, zone into the Mesa and run up to the Bashermaker first. Intentionally get up close (real close) and get aggro off him. As he attacks, right click the wand to pacify him (which will instantly stop him from attacking you), hail him and run to the next one (Cook, Foodpicker, Provisioner) and repeat the process until you have all of them.
