    This task follows the "Ancient Tomes" task, however "Ancient Tomes" is NOT a pre-requisite.

    It begins with Wraithguard Lorekeeper Fenegar in Valdeholm (at -1535, +1430), who gives you some lead-in text after the Runed Diamond ends.

    You say, 'Hail, Wraithguard Lorekeeper Fenegar'

    Wraithguard Lorekeeper Fenegar says 'Hello there. I have heard about the assistance you have given the Wraithguard. What can I do for you, tiny one? Or perhaps you can [do something] for me.'

    You say, 'Do something?'

    Wraithguard Lorekeeper Fenegar says 'I have been tasked with evaluating information and items to see if they are of value to our work or to our people. Currently I seek information from within the crypts, perhaps you [can help] me with that. Otherwise I have very little time to [talk] about personal matters.'

    You say, 'I can help.'

    You have been assigned the task 'Construction of Shadows'.

    There are reports that the Shade's have expanded the crypt since the living giants last saw it. Venture into Frostcrypt and see if you can find any of these newly-excavated chambers.

    I did this quest, as did another guildmate, last night on Luclin-Stromm. It was not bugged, we both got faction and the potions.

    Thanks. We'll need someone else to run this quest as well to completely confirm it is indeed fixed or provide patch notes that says it is fixed.

    I did this quest a few times back when i first got the required faction to request it. now the Giant fella tells me he doesn't have anything to offer for someone with my skills.

    you can request this task without completing Runed diamond quest
    Also: Repeatable but it has a 24 hour lockout timer from when you request it

    i have died 5 times at the ramp down to lorekeeper rome by icecrack and by the gollem at entrance to maze......any suggestions?

    There is now a roaming, see-invis golem that patrols the entrance to the maze. He paths along the small corridor from the secret door back to the maze entrance.

    Construction of Shadows - Tips

    Having done this quest 6 times now I feel like a bit of an expert, so here is what I learned to go from 10 deaths the first run to no deaths the last 3 runs!

    First - levitation helps speed up getting around for the first two parts, the meeting room and the Temple, but it may lead to death entering the maze! I was levi'd entering the maze and kept geting killed by the 2 golems in the cubbies on each side of the hallway. Then I clicked off levi and carefully positioned myself exactly between the cubbies and have never died on any subquent run.

    Second - I do the rooms in the following order Meeting Room, Temple, Treasure Room and Prison. Occassionaly you will die entering the prision no matter what you do, but if you are running in you will finish the quest before you die and get the reward.

    Third - when going to the meeting room, as you come down the ramp there is a see invisi mob Capt hectov on the left wall. Just hang onto the right wall as you enter that room and hug the wall around to the meeting room and you will be fine. Go out the same way.

    Fourth - There is a wandering see invisi mob Guard Commander Bowulf up occassionally - you may see him going east to west from the round room or north south down the main hallway - just keep your eyes open for him and he's easy to avoid.

    Fifth - Getting to the temple is usually no problem. the only possible problem is the wandering Commander noted above.

    Sixth - I always enter the maze by turning east(right) at the Golem. After you get the Treasure Room there is a path between the 2 sides which allows you to get to the prison without running by the Golem again.

    Seventh (and last) There are Named in the SW and SE corners of the maze (Fleshless and Haze respectively) usually the first entrances off the Golem turn lead to one of them - be careful - they aggro fast! (sometimes you get bitten by haze and his bite paralyzes you for 30-40 secs, but you can crawl away!)

    Good luck to all! For my money this is one of the most enjoyable quests I have done!

    It also raises wraithguard leadership , as well as wraithguard.
    Walls in the maze pop up when you have agro, so an fd class can take some shortcuts and repeate it very easily.

    I can also confirm the +leaderhip. Its Exactly 50 faction points per run. With SoS (and no see sos nameds) I could do a run in about 10 minutes for faction and 14% of an AA.

    As of the 2/21/07 patch, this quest is repeatable at least at amiable to WG faction.

    Also, to those having trouble getting into the maze, the trick I use is to be lev'd, open the passage, and when the golem gets to the bottom of the ramp and stops facing in the maze, run in fast and as high as you can over his head and then turn hard right up into the maze. This has worked fairly reliably...

    Find the Shade-built Temple of Rallos Temple - Far NE room on the map, the largest room in the zone, the Temple sorta gives it away
    Find the Shade's Meeting Hall - First large room west off the main hallway, large table, very much like a meeting room
    Find the Shade's Prison - Room west off the Maze area, there are several small cells (none of which actually contain any prisoners)

    Did you finish "the shattered gift" yet? Most of the TSS quest arcs will not allow you to repeat them, until you have completed the whole arc once.

    that quest requires Kindly faction, which I don't have. I will try the Runed diamond quest though, and see if having those 2 done lets me repeat this one. But i don't think it will. I just completed the tusks quest from strongarm and he gives me the same yellow message.

    edit: yes , is repeatable , once the first 4 wraithguard quests are completed also maybe at least amiable faction as well

    I did manage to go through the whole thing shrouded with Rogue, but I have a couple pointers to finish it. Patience is the key for it though. When you click on the torch to slide the throne forward, go peek in and see if the ice golem is close to the front or not. If he isnt all the way in the back, dont go for it. Just let the throne slide back and wait to check it next round. If the throne slides shut and you're in the hallway you're trapped, you cant go back out again and then you get killed. Once he's at the far end though, you can sneak between the two ice golems in the cubbies, and hug the wall hard to pass the wanderer at the end. Once you're in the maze all the shades in there see through invis and will kill you, but they're all wanderers so it just takes patience and some quick moving to avoid getting smashed. They will often stand at just one point for 2 or 3 minutes straight. When I was doing it though there was only one path for me to go through to get into the deep part of the maze for each of the rooms I needed to visit, so explore, be patient, and keep an eye open in the back of your head and you can do it.

    Hmm not working for me...perhaps I am doing something wrong. lvl 70 rogue form, sneak/hide, wait for the wandering ice golem to get to the far end of the hall, then carefully walk down the center of the hall and WHAM smacked down by one or both the golems in the cubbies. Tried twice, once running, once walking. Died both times.

    After making a suicide run throug the maze to the prison/ jail area I came up to the door into the prison room...and the door wouldnt open. Is there any trick to this door? Did have invulnerability running when I first tried the door, then clicked it off...still door wouldnt open.




    As far as repeatability goes, I have heard that once you doo all 4 missions in this arc ( Lost tomes, Construction of shadows, Runic ivory and Armor supplies) you can then repeat missions.

    I finished all 4 of those quests and I can not repeat them again. I'm still at dubious faction, so dont know if I need to get more faction still to be able to do it or what, but I just finished Construction of Shadows and they wont give me the tasks again yet.

    Please ignore the door question... the west room doesnt have a door, Im thinking I got turned a bit farhter north and found a door up there.

    Its interesting how small of an agro radius the mobs in here do have, its quite possible to get lucky and not even agro the first ice golem at times.

    The walls in the maze move, I do not know what triggers them. The darker panels will move and the maze is different from the last time I ventured there. The map is a good start, but you will find an opening where one should not be, and a darker wall where one should not be, in a couple of places.

    I had read this quest is repeatable, but after doing it, I went to get it again and got "nothing for someone of you abilities."

    You get 10 of the potions. I am not sure how useful they will be, since it has invis, and the buff disapears when you cast or attack.

    i would not downplay the rateing on this quest, while its basic reward is not all that great, the Faction gains are huge for completeing quests with faction as part of the reward.

    its easy enough to complete with a grp that can handle the maze area

    Left side of the maze as your looking at your map is the Jails, and the right side of the Maze as your lookig at your map is the Treasure room

    Anyone know if you can do this if you shroud down to a rogue?
    I heard of the Slipgear Gem being done in that manner, and was wondering if anyone had succeeded in using that method on this one?

    Rogue shroud (70 goblin rogue) works; the ice golems see invis but sneak reduces aggro range so you can run between them.

    There was an ice golem in the first corridor when i tried it. I got past him (trying to sneak along the wall beside him), and as i turned the next corner he came after me; one hit was all it took in shroud form.
