Find Librarian Hemfar on the first floor of Crescent Reach.

You say, 'Hail, Librarian Hemfar'

Librarian Hemfar says 'Vasha, friend. I am the second-born of Keikolin the Enlightened, the most knowledgeable dragon of the Six. I am to aid in the education of drakkin and all who choose to enlighten their minds. I am a collector of artifacts and one of the founders of the Written Word and the Wanderlust Guild so we may learn from books and life. I have a unique gift that you may partake in if you [aid] in my work. Or you may simply ask me what [lore] I have gathered from artifacts in these lands.

You say, 'Aid your work?'

Librarian Hemfar says 'Yes, indeed. I have been given a sight-gift from Lady Keikolin. In many artifacts I can see within them and through the eyes of those they belonged to. It allows me to create a history that will become part of this library. Should you find any artifacts in the surrounding lands, bring them to me and I shall reward you and be able to add to the [volumes] of our great library.'

You say, 'What volumes?'

Librarian Hemfar says 'There are many creatures present and past that lived in these mountains, including the ogres that once lived in this very city. What exactly happened to them and their kind is somewhat of a mystery, but given time and the right artifacts, we shall learn more. I can reward you if you bring artifacts to me. Then, you may ask what [lore] and legend is available as people bring me artifacts and I can share the history with you when it is scribed.'

This is an ongoing quest to upgrade the charm, Serpent Seeker's Charm of Lore. After handing in at least five of the required items, you "get an option that looks like it's the same old exp, but click the option and it shows charm as reward".

As you hand in each of the following items from around the Serpent's Spine, the charm will increase in strength. It is not known which items boost stats, or how many are required for each increase. There does not appear to be any particular requirement for order, either. These are the items known to be involved. There are probably many more.

You don't have to cast Identify. Items for this quest have a Lore tab which states that it would be of interest to someone in CR.
Charm stats??
# Jan 26 2007 at 6:05 PM Rating: Decent
Does any one have a comprehensive list of the charm stats from begining to end, or failing that some idea how I can find out where I left off and where I need to go next, it is a pain to have to cover the same ground twice.

Nodyin hinted in this thread: There are two of them standing next to each other, both of them drop the item. Sounds like the Guardian of the Gate.

Just an Observation.
# Jan 23 2007 at 1:35 AM Rating: Decent
Interested in hearing from ANYone who has completed ALL the hand ins EXCEPT for the raid drops.
Id like to see what the stats of this charm are minus the raid drops to compare it with other available charms for people who will never have the opportunity to aquire the raid lvl drops.

Even If you complete the raid drops...with the stats posted above it seems to be a labour of love for questing IMHO.

The raid drops really need to be reassessed.

I love the concept of this quest, but I am dissapointed the ability to complete it was aimed at a small percentage of high end players who already have access to similar/ better charms.
Just an Observation.

We have 20 of the turn in's done and my stats read
AC 14, STR, DEX, STA, CHA, WIS, INT, AGI, +20
HP, MANA, ENDUR, +135
ALL SV's +14
ATTACK +4
Regen +1
MANA REGEN +1

These stats also include the stats that are from the aug that goes along with the charm.
Wanderlust Guild Loadstone (aug)
We have been doing both quest at the same time. And i do agree that the end "raids" should be looked at. ONE reason is if you should be lucky enough to get a "raid" together and have more than one person needing an Item and only one items drops, then what? you roll on it and hope to get the loot? or have to get another "raid" together to get the pice you need? Not so easy to do for most.
This quest is LONG and gets progressivly harder to do. I'f there are better Charms/Augs out there past the point of the need to raid for this one, I would vote to go for the other. And please list them if you find them)> hehe...

Just my two cents!
Dil

According to Magelo:
Charm: 53505 is 29% complete
Aug: 53631 is 90% done we are on #18 BLAH!

Vergalid Scale
# Jan 20 2007 at 5:05 PM Rating: Decent
Just thought i'd post that the Vergalid Scale does not drop off Xacine. It drops randomly off the golem mobs in the inner mines. I've camped this place alot, and have seen many drop off golems - never off Xacine.

If you right click him like a merchant and look at what books are in his library you will see which items you have turned in. They dont specifically saw what the item is but if you read through it I'm sure you can figure it out. I hope that helps some of you on knowing which items you are missing =)

I have the same problem as dwnldr. I have tried the alt+Q but nothing shows for the Charm of lore I do see the loadstone but not the charm of lore. So I guess I am at a stand still on this progression.

In your quest window (Alt + Q) You should be able to extend the window to the right to see what you have and have not turned in.

Oread's Willow Whipvine is in the southwest section of the zone. Pretty much straight south of where you find the age-old stones.

Sliver of Goru`kar's Willowstaff is by the mesa - kind of next to a bush so hard to see.

Split Ravenoak Bow is in the same area as the corrupted centaur village - NE corner away from mobs.

Petrified Leather Boot Sole turn in dialog...(location was correct on previous posts)
I typed in lore? and What lore? and got the following message...

Librarian Hemfar says "I've received artifacts from these lands and have information about them available. If you have an artifact that you would like information about please give it to me. Otherwise, I can share from the library I've begun."

I then asked "What Petrified leather boot sole?" (that being the one item on this list that I had) and got no response??? If he is sharing why does he not respond??? smile....

When I handed in the boot sole, I got the following message...

"Librarian Hemfar says "Well done, .....! This is certainly something I've never seen. How exciting! Your keen eye will put another book on the shelf of our library! Librarian Hemfar holds the item tightly as his eyelids begin to flutter and close. He runs a hand over the artifact and then slowly opens his eyes. 'This has quite a story to tell. I shall scribe it.'"

I've been doing these in the order of top to bottom as listed above. Last night I did the last of the Icefall Drops. The charm updated stats at this lvl. It is at 70 mana, 70 hit points, 70 end, 4 to all stats and resists, 4 attack, 1 mana regen, 1 hit point regen. (21 turn ins) (no change at 20 turn ins).

The charm got stats at my 8th turn in. (23hp, mana, ect).
The stats increases at my 15th turn in.(47hp, mana, ect)
The stats increased at my 21st turn in. (70hp, mana, ect)
The stats increased over night. I've got 22 turn in's now (Sulfurog in the Stepps). (84hp, mana, end, 5 to all stats, resists, and attack).

I have not done the other quests, and do not have this auged at this time. (at the time of my 22nd turn in, it is auged with the Wanderlust Guild Loadstone. I subtracted the stats to get to this number).

Notes: It took appr. 200 hill giants for that item.
It took appr. 30 giants for the quested peice in Mesa for the item
It took appr. 10 griffons for the item in icefall

I have done 24 hand-ins and my charm is lesser than yours Tullus. Mine is still stuck at the 47hp/mana/end stage and possesses no mana or hit point regen.

Currently i have...

i) All of Cresent Reach, Blightfire Moors, Stone Hive, Goru'kar Mesa, The Steppes, and Blackfeather Roost.
ii) Krithgor Keystone from Icefall. (missing Lorekeeper's Quill)
iii) Vergalid Scale of Inner Vergalid Mines.
iv) Doomfount's Essence, Relicstone Torch, and Trinket of Scale from Sunderock.

my results currently are the same as Fayandlilly's, but I have finished mesa, and blackfeather roost, also handed in 1 item from Sunderock. So I am 3 items ahead of Fayandlilly and no change in stats, so it does not seem as if finishing a zone is of any importance to the stat changes, as I have 2 completed over Fayandlilly's (at that post time). I am lvl 75 and have all of my wanderlust quest done, except for the last one (ashengate), so I don't think that plays into this quest. I just think the stats will increase when you turn in items that are more difficult to get, not just because you turned in a lot of easy items that only required you to run from zone to zone and be at little to no risk. Increase of risk items and increase the stats is my bet.
AC +3
STR/DEX/STA/CHA/WIS/INT/AGI +2
HP/MANA/END +47
SvF/D/C/M/P +2
Attack +3

A good quest to consider for a charm while working on this one is the Artisan Charm. I did it, and the items to make it are easy to get. The pottery version (not smithing) is basicaly this charm but with out the atk, regen, FT, or shielding goodies. But it has great stats for a charm and it has 2 aug slots. I made mine to hold me over until I complete this quest, since I know some of these items are from raids, and will be a while before I can get them all.
