Zryan #1: The Gray Legion

This is the first of five tasks in a series. (At one point in this series you receive the Ashengate Seal, an item which allows you to bypass the golems guarding the gate to Ashengate.)
This task begins in the Direwind Cliffs with Scout Zryan, located just east of Sunderock Springs zoneline by a rock with another NPC, at -1620, -1010. He is the one crouching. You say, 'Hail, Scout Zryan' Scout Zryan says 'Greetings, ______! It's nice to find a friendly face in these forsaken lands. I've been scouting the Ashengate temple, looking for a way in. Dyn`leth's armies keep the [approach] heavily guarded, but we may just have a chance.' You say, 'What approach?' Scout Zryan says 'When outnumbered, the superior warrior stalks with patience and strikes only when the time is right. Here is what must be done. . . ' You have been assigned the task 'The Gray Legion'. Kill 10 Gray Legion Soldiers - Direwind Cliffs Kill 2 Gray Legion Clerics - Direwind Cliffs Kill 2 Gray Legion Mages - Direwind Cliffs Kill 5 Gray Legion Sergeants - Direwind Cliffs This last step becomes available after completion of the previous steps. Deliver Orzhok's Shattered Shield to Scout Zryan - Direwind Cliffs Your task 'The Gray Legion' has been updated. Zryan says, 'Well done. You are now ready for the main attack on the [approach].' This is the lead-in to the next task, "The Approach". Your faction standing with Crusade of the Scale got better. Your faction standing with Forces of Dyn'leth got worse. Your faction standing with Circle of the Crystalwing got better. You gain experience!! These mobs that you need to kill can be found just south-east of the Scout's location. They are in groups of usually 2 soldiers, 2-3 orcs (level 65) and either a cleric or mage. The sergeants roam from group to group and can see-invis. It is suggested to pull to a spot near the task giver. These mobs have a fairly large assist range, so FD pulling and/or crowd control is a must. Orzhok's Shattered can be looted at anytime (looting is not part of the task just turning it in is). Orzhok Shattered Shield is dropped by Captain Orzhok (drops 6), who is 75+ and rampages. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

I really wanted to continue this quest line I started in Sunderock, but if you don't have cc your screwed, mobs are in clusters of 5-7, can't be single pulled. Mixture of caster/melee mobs, so if you try and fd pull you will get blasted with a spell after fd. I hate how soe makes it impossible to compete a quest line without certain ability's. Like I said save yourself some aggravation and skip this bs, after dying countless times/having to gate run back, I wasted hours I could have been grinding exp..thanks for nothing soe, or you could comeback when your level 85 and do it but by then why bother.

After you finish the second quests and get the Ashengate Seal, this same NPC offers a third quest, called 'The Black Legion'. This quest consists of two steps. Look a set of battle plans, that drops from the mobs behind the Guardians of Ashengate, and turn the plans in.
However, this quest is currently bugged, as if you try giving the plans to the NPC, he gives it back with the generic 'I have no need of this, you can have it back' message. /bugged and /feedbacked.

They don't have a particularly large assist range, they're just stacked more or less on top of each other in 5's.
This is the first of two quests offered by this npc. The second quest, which is much more challenging, involves killing the 4 named on the path to Ashengate zi. The reward for the completion is a clicky that temporarily inactivates the two see-invis golems at the Ashengate area so you can slip by them.
