I use to really enjoy doing these armor quests. Wandering the zones, hunting down specific mobs for quest items. It took a while and therefore it gave a sence of accomplishment.
Currently the quest gear from the "Hero's Journey" will provide you with better gear in significantly less time.
Unfortunatly for me, I am a compulsive completionist and will likely do these quests anyways, reguardless of upgrades or not.

This is the outline for armor tasks offered by Kimem Saydel in Crescent Reach. They can be completed with a single group (even solo if you are of level). These tasks result in armor with stats in the neighborhood of 20-30hp/mana/end. Armor pieces have a required level of 20.
Find Kimem Saydel in Crescent Reach at location -1030, -1475, +30.25. You say, 'Hail, Kimem Saydel' Kimem Saydel says 'Vasha, ______. You have the stride of an adventurer about you. They say that an adventurer is only as good as the [armor] they wear.' You say, 'What armor?' Kimem Saydel says 'Fortunately, I may be able to fashion you some protection. Recently, I've seen adventurers returning from the Blightfire Moors and bringing with them [materials] that have picked up a bit of the curse that plagues that land. I've had a chance to study some of it and I believe I can tap into the magic within the [materials] to fashion armor that would protect you on your adventures.' You say, 'What materials?' Kimem Saydel says 'The materials I need depend upon the piece of armor you want fashioned.' I just did the quest for fun for my drakkin paladin and boxing human bard. You can really just buy the materials cheap if you want to see what they look like.
My own little achievement done! Think I will save the set in my bank.

I've spend days with my Wizzy friend looking for the stuff for our armor. I have leveled up 5 levels in the process, but what a pain this is turing out to be. However, I've already looted enough hide and patterns to pass on to my lower lvl Druid, so I suppose it has been worth it. Still need chestplate, greaves, and one bracer.

I found out from farming both the patterns and the silks/chains/plates for this armor for my alts, that the sporali by the dead dragon do indeed drop the components more often. Dragoneater, the named at that camp, drops a patter every time and spawns very frequently. On occasion, he also drops a component for the armor, as well as a mask thats not too shabby.
You need indifferent or better faction to do these quests. My pallie couldn't get the quest at apprehensive, but after doing the quests from Council Mystrana and acquiring the cloak with the faction mod, I was able to get these.

Which faction?
Circle of Crystalwing, or Circle of the Crystalwing, one of the two.

Talk about stupidity!!!!!!!!!!! Why did they put mana stats on these???? Bards don't use mana this early in the game and by the time they get to where they do use it they will be using other gear.
the location of Kimem Saydel is on the 2nd level of Cresent Reach. He is along the back wall of the smithing area.
He will only give you one quest for an armour piece at a time.

i just whent around killing all the nameds in the zone and they drop off trash to.... i have full set took me 3 hours and i got a 15 hp mana end aug req 20 rec of 25 i think off the tangle foot looking doods
I got a Blightfire Chest Pattern (and a Blightfire Helm Pattern) off some of the gnolls in Blightfire Moors.
