Upon finishing an armor piece task outlined here, you will receive this prompt:

Tenish says 'My theory was correct! This is fantastic! Now, friend, I must ask if you are prepared to go [further] with this experiment and see if we cannot, together, create something truly fantastic?'

You say, 'How further?'

Tenish says, 'Indeed _____! As you were able to prove that my theory was
correct and we were able to harness the power of these ancient artifacts I
am now confident enough to attempt the next natural step, to further
empower this item! Here is a list of instructions on how we can procede.'

The following tasks become available, depending on your class (the name of the task is the piece of armor you will receive)

Tenish believes that he can further increase the power of the item you previously created by adding in a powersource, a collector of magical energies. Tenish has been able to confirm that such items have been discovered in both the Vergalid Mines and the Giant City of Valdeholm.

Bring back the item you created and a powersource and deliver it to Tenish so that he can complete the final stage of your experiment.

Quest Steps:

1. Deliver 1 [Part 1 Armor Piece] to Tenish
2. Deliver 1 A Softly Glowing Powersource to Tenish

A Softly Glowing Powersource drops from various named mobs in Valdeholm and Vergalid Mines.

Hand in these two items to receive your upgraded armor, stat bonuses inclued.

as long as you have a slower and some cc now and again...normally we seem to have a bard...the zones for this stuff is so cake.the drops kinda suck cause it isnt that often but whats so bad about gettin some good exp.ive got 2 chars my warr been in these zones at 67 and my cleric now almost 76.. i heal easily and warr does very well as a secondary dps.we have a good core for as group and just grind for the most part....get a decent group and you can do well on these quests.

It is nice that it only took 6 expansions to give the non-raiders a chance at an armor set that is close to elemental's. It will almost be tolerable to get experience in zones that actually give good experience.

Have fun tanking in Valedholm for the powersources in Grandmaster's gear and little to no shielding. It can be done, but it's a bit rough.

I agree with Biohazrd about the other expansions really helping non-raiders gear up.

I guess I was mostly referring to "Armor Sets".

As a pally I guess the TSS is more comparable to GoD, Trimdet's amror set, with GoD having better stats and resists but the TSS set having updated healing foci.

Either way, I is nice option to have. I suppose by the time I have the molds I want, my levels and AA's should make Val more comfortable.

Just a tad bit of an exaggeration there, isn't it. This armor is MUCH MUCH better than elemental gear. It's better than PoTime armor (perhaps except for Quarm drops), and better than any GoD armor until you hit Qvic, at which point they are about even, with slight variations by piece, as to which is better.

Also, you would not have to tank Valdeholm in GM gear. You can tank it in the tier 1 gear, without the foci.
No easy task..

I don't know what you're saying really. Pretty much the only expansions that SOE came out with that didn't give non-raiders upgrades (and after PoP) were LDON (which you still could get some hella nice stuff for non-raiders at the time), LOY (again, you could still get nice stuff comparable to what non-raiders could get before the expansion), and GoD (which in all honesty was completely a raid oriented expansion, with limited solo/single groupable drops). OoW brought the non-raider back to power, albiet with a little effort on their part. Pretty much the only ones who suffered in that respect were tanks with low #s of AAs (ie not max defensive) but even by the time the next expansion came out you had an average tank that could hold his own in MPG. For DoN you can't say that the merchants don't offer some decent gear. all of it is better than elemental gear (well high end at least) and all of it is EASY to get. Sure there's raid content with better gear out there, but hell it's supposed to be that way. DODH brought the non-raider to power yet again with it's task rewards, so if you bought it and actually spent the time to cycle the missions you can equip yourself as good or better than time gear in most slots without ever attending a raid. PoR added an alternate route for upgrading those pesky pieces taht just were too hard to get upgrades for from DoDH, albiet its a little costly but it still works. and then we come to the newest expansion which gives single group folk shots at armor that's BETTER than some of the raid armor from pretty much every expansion before it... So yeah, it only took SOE 4 expansions to re-empower the non-raider, and now they're as empowered as ever. a non raid geared tank can still top 12k unbuffed without batting an eye if he puts his time into it (aas, missions, cash, etc) which makes him able to tank in anything but the hardest of zones (ie frostcrypt), and they're the most gear-dependant classes around. There really isn't a whole lot of info on it. I've seen links to even the Tier 4 armor on the Luclin server, but I don't know the exactly details as to how it is gained. Pretty much from what I have gathered the molds are raid dropped. (Can anyone confirm/deny this?) Large Softly Glowing Powersources upgrade these.

I am guessing that you have to remove the augs from your tier 1 armor before you turn it in for the tier 2 quest. I am just curious if anyone has turned the armor in with an aug on it and if it came back with the aug still there.

Raid Molds use the Large powersource. You just need the mold and large powersource for the type of armor. That is the link to the NPC in crescent reach that gives the Raid Type 1 and 2 armor. The single group armor is not related to the raid armor quest, totally different NPC gives quest and totally different zones for the drops.

Actually you're wrong. Tier 1 is basic armour with no stats. Tier 2 is same stats but with added focii not tier 3. Tier 3 could have something to tie in with the "large" powersources that drop from Frostcrypt and Ashengate named. But so far nothing has been found about it

Different powersources
# Oct 07 2006 at 1:21 PM Rating: Decent
There is actually a different powersource for each archetype. A Softly Glowing Powersource is for plate armors. There are also A Translucent Powersource, A Flickering Powersource, and A Faintly Glowing Powersource, although I'm not sure atm which one goes with which of the remaining archetypes.

A Large Translucent Powersource, A Large Flickering Powersource, A Large Faintly Glowing Powersource, and A Large Softly Glowing Powersource drop in Ashengate and Frostcrypt and presumably will be used to upgrade the actual Tier 2 armors (a completely separate set of tasks from a different NPC, most likely raid-dropped molds).

Enchanter version is exactly the same text and same guy. Once you have delivered the 4 ash covered swatches the next line is to deliver the an Ancient silk leggins pattern to him. On doing this I recieved the item in my inventory which was Attuned Silk Pants
AC 25

He then said

My theory was correct! This is Fantastic! Now friend I must ask if you are prepared to go [further] with this experiment and see if we cannot, together create something truly fantastic?

"Further"

Indeed_______ as you were able to prove that my theory was correct and we were able to harness the power of these artifacts I am now confident enough to attempt the next natural step, to further empower this item!

You have been assigned the task "Thought-Attuned Silk Pants"

Deliver 1 attuned silk pants to Tenish 0/1
Deliver 1 A Translucent Powersource to Tenish 0/1

It says the power source drops in Vergalid Mines or Valdeholm.

Reward previewed for this part is "thought-Attuned silk Pants"

AC 25

Was there last night...grinding out our levels and such when we killed the mob a couple times. The first time the LegPLATE mold dropped so the PLATE classes rolled...seemed logical that if it has the word plate in it that it would be for plate classes. The mage in the group sure could have used it since I cannot and it is no trade. So...what is the plate mold for plate classes? Know what the chain one is...and the leather class but....am lost...do I keep it or destroy it?

Edit:
I don't remember posting this and don't have any accounts with TSS, and therefore couldn't know the information contained in the post. I think something may have gotten cross-wired with this post. To whoever DID post, please delete your cookies and try again.

Why do they have the leg MOLD listed for magicians where there is "An Ancient Silk Leggins Pattern" (they spelled Leggings wrong). the ancient legplate mold should be for plate classes, and the silk for casters.
isnt this quest wrong?

Item name actually says leggins and it drops off son of severan in direwind, confirmed 10 times over. Rotted with a nice new mask with a poison focus and a chain neck item
pattern

you can find molds and patterns also in that Sunder zone - Whitewater and the other named water elementals randomly and rarely drop them (probably not legs or tunic patterns though)
