Assistant Avellone may be found at -210, -1690, in a group of quest NPCs in a swamp in the southeast portion of the zone.

You say, 'Hail, Assistant Avellone'

Assistant Avellone says, 'Do you have time to look into some [agricultural] technology for me? If not, I have a few [other tasks] for Vreshnar that I was going to look into today.'

You say, 'What other tasks?'

Assistant Avellone says, 'I need to track down [Prunae] and look into some [pranksters].'

You say, 'Who is Prunae?'

Assistant Avellone says, 'Well I heard Vreshnar muttering about her. You see, she helped him put together the Bixie Illusion spell, but there seems to be something wrong. She donned an illusion and barged into Stone Hive, and hasn't been seen since. She seemed furious! Then yesterday, Vreshnar was stunned by a fellow Wyrmkin. It shouldn't have even been possible! We must [find her].'

You say, 'I will find her.'

Assistant Avellone says, 'She may still be in disguise, but I just know something is wrong. Perhaps she has been trapped.'

You have been assigned the task 'Jokes on You'.

Prunae has gone missing, and there are some doubts as to her loyalty to Crescent Reach. Find her within Stone Hive and determine whether she has been imprisoned, or turned Bixie and is sharing secrets within the hive.

Reward(s):
You gain experience!!

Explore the slave hold of Stone Hive (0/1) - Stone Hive

Head to Stone Hive and into the large, main hive in the middle of the zone. Go up the stairs in the center room, then through the doorway on the west side. Turn north and head up the elevator by clicking on it. Then, go through the room on that floor, and you will eventually reach the slave hold to the east.

Find a clue as to who is telling the truth (0/1) - Stone Hive

There you will find either a slavemistress or Slavemistress Hizja. They are very weak and easily soloable by a level 70+ Enchanter with or without a pet. Once you kill either one of them, they may drop an "Imposter's Clue".

Determine who the imposter is and kill them! (0/1) - Stone Hive

Once you loot this, the Caged Drakkin nearby will turn into a bixie and attack you. This mob is again easily soloable by at 70. Once you slay the Caged Drakkin, the quest is over and you will be able to choose your reward:

Option 1: Devious Drakkin Potion

Easy Quest

I agree, this was a very fast and easy quest. Not sure why the spell is lvl71. The quest could be done by much lower lvl. The walkthrough is correct, as well as the below posts. I hailed Prunae, killed the Slavemistress, looted the note, the Caged guy attacks. Dies. Choose the spell and I'm done. Took about 15 minutes total. Most of the time was running.

easiest quest i've ever done, think the hardest part was finding the slave room.......which to be honest really wasn't all that hard lol. good luck enchanters on your spell and good luck people who just love illusions like me :)
Repeatable!

This quest is repeatable. It's really nice for those that can solo this and are not enchanters. I recommend it if you like using illusions. =)

Did anybody mention that accepting the potion as a reward
gives you TEN single charge potions? They stack. I'm happy!

Leave this to SoE to make a lvl 30 quest for a lvl 71 spell ... what were the devs thinking on this one?....lol.

P.S. jstu as a side note I will never wear this illusion ....cause frankly it is the lamest illusion in my book and I have them all.

Lemme guess, if sony had forgot to put the new race illusion spell, were you posting it's a shame too?

Now Stone hive is fairly hard, even at 75, when you solo I mean. And not everyone have raid loot, sony have to think about everyone.
Now what, you want them to put this in Ashengate.. I know a lot of enchanters that won't see Ashengate for a while..
Now think about everyone with you included, before to think about you only.

Anyway, Drakkins looks great. Probably the best look an enchanter can have. I am curious to know your race. Gnome? Erudite male?

Just my 2cp..

Imposter Clue
# Sep 27 2006 at 4:21 PM Rating: Default
The clue also often drops off unnamed bixies in the vicinity, and the caged bixie will attack you once you loot clue if he is up.

Once you have looted the clue you can also simply kill the caged drakkin to finish the task.

From PoK to quested scroll, here's the way to get this spell.

In PoK go to Crescent Reach Stone (location: 61.40, -151.09, -152.80), click on stone, and you will be transported to Blightfire Moors (location: -593.00, -1364.00, 4.01).

From there, run a short distance NE to Assistant Avellone(location: -208.69, -1690.47, 5.95). Follow this dialogue:

You say, 'Hail, Assistant Avellone'
Assistant Avellone says 'Do you have time to look into some [agricultural] technology for me? If not, I have a few [other tasks] for Vreshnar that I was going to look into today.'
You say, 'other tasks'
Assistant Avellone says 'I need to track down [Prunae] and look into some [pranksters].'
You say, 'Prunae'
Assistant Avellone says 'Well, I heard Vreshnar muttering about her. You see, she helped him put together the Bixie illusion spell but there seems to be something wrong. She donned an illusion and barged into Stone Hive and hasn't been seen since. She seemed furious! Then yesterday, Vreshnar was stunned by a fellow Wyrmkin. It shouldn't even be possible! We must [find her].'
You say, 'I will find her'
You have been assigned the task 'Jokes on You'.
Assistant Avellone says 'She may still be in disguise, but I just know something is wrong. Perhaps she has been trapped.'

Invis up, and run to Stone Hive. Location of zone in to Stone Hive is -457.08, -3760.66, 163.13, however, to get there, there is a very narrow passageway at location -707.43, -1865.90, 158.01. So, from Assistant Avellone, run to the passageway, run through it (east) to the Stone Hive zone in and - what else? - zone in!

From the zone in, go straight, in a roughly northeast direction. The path winds north, with zone walls on either side. You simply can't miss it if you tried. The pathway leads to a platform (location: 0.87, -1319.64, 43.35). From there, there is path the runs directly west, straight as a nail, directly into the Hive. Follow it. There is a kind of decorative archway with a few steps on either side of it in the path at location: 0.87, -1319.64, 43.35. Go, through it, around it, whatever, but just keep following the straight path west into the hive to location: -5.58, -295.44, 43.63.

You will have a doorway to the north and a doorway to the south. Either one is fine. If you go south, you will encounter a doorway (leading to a tiny room with another doorway on the leading out) at location -5.79, -160.25, 42.88. Go through both doorways to a larger room with two sweeping staircases plainly leading to the same landing. If you go north, you'll find an identical doorway on the west wall at location 177.10, -247.78, 41.15. It also opens to a tiny room with another doorway on the western wall. If you chose to go north, go through both doorways to the large room with the two sweeping staircases. If you stand at location -5.79, -160.25, 42.88, you'll plainly see the two sweeping staircases leading to the same landing. Take either one to the landing at 2.68, 35.02, 105.14.

From there travel a short bit west to location -0.31, 152.26, 105.51. Again, you'll see doorways to the north or the south. You MUST go north! (Mwah-ha-haaah! You are out of options! You MUST go north here, or be without your illusion spell FOREVER!)

This hall is not straight (like most of the hallways in this hive), but it winds in a circular arc to the east. Follow the hallway to location 188.64, 21.46, 119.83. You'll be standing on the elevator platform. You'll find this is a good place to refresh your invis and levitation, if need be. I always recommend using levitation on elevators. One good lag spike on an elevator, and the elevator will pass right through you and you fall. As you stand on the platform and look down the hallway you just came, the control for the elevator is on the right. Just click on it, and go up. Don't linger when the elevator arrives at the top. It doesn't wait long. As you're facing the hallway you came from, turn 180 degrees and exit the elevator east.

The path is a semi circle (beginning at location: -187.66, -19.81, 271.04 and ending at location: -187.66, 31.86, 271.53), follow it east as it winds south, then faces west again. Along this pathway, by the way, you'll see corkscrew type spirals leading up to catwalks slightly above you. There are two spiral pathways up, one at the beginning and one at the end. It is not necessary to travel along these upper level pathways. Just go around the corkscrews and stay on the lower levels.

At the end of the semicircle, there is a large, oddly shaped room, showing worker bees ("a harvester drone" -- and if you know anything about bees, "a harvester drone" is an oxymoron -- and "a bixie harvester" for instance) and streams of dripping honey from the ceiling. Just invis your way past to location: -40.97, 83.67, 276.37. Face west and Prunae will be directly in front of you at location: -36.39, 216.33, 271.49, in a cage. As you stand before Prunae, Caged Drakkin will be to your right (north) at location: -4.91, 193.16, 271.24.

There is "a slavemistress" or perhaps "Slavemistress Hizja" in this room. I brought no pet this time and used Mind Shatter to kill her. Mind Shatter inflicted 3085 points of damage before "A slavemistress" dropped. (3000 hp, perhaps?) I slowed her and she was not able to get through my rune (Draconic Rune).

Apparently, Slavemistress Hizja is not necessary to this quest at all, as other mobs drop "a [sic] Imposter Clue." This time, I got it from "a bixie harvester." The only thing necessary is to dialogue with "Prunae" and "Caged Drakkin" before looting "a Imposter Clue." Slavemistress Hizja is just a named mob that pops where "a slavemistress" serves as placeholder.

So...

You say, 'Hail, Prunae'
Prunae says 'Please! You must help me. That other caged Drakkin is a fake! Set me free!'

You say, 'Hail, Caged Drakkin'
Caged Drakkin says 'I'm not a fake! She lies! She's been selling secrets to the bixies! Let her rot, and set ME free!'

Loot "a Imposter Clue" and "Caged Drakkin" attacks. (Note: "a Imposter Clue" is NOT a lore item. You can have more than one, but they do not stack. If you have already looted one, before you complete the dialogue with "Caged Drakkin," nothing will happen. You must kill another mob and loot "a Imposter Clue" after you dialogue with "Caged Drakkin."

I used Mind shatter to parse the damage. I cast twice and did 4327 points of damage before "Caged Drakkin" died. The last round of Mind Shatter did over 500 points of damage, so the actual number of HP is probably around 4000.

Once dead,

Your task 'Jokes on You' has been updated.
It seems Prunae has been telling the truth, and the imposter has been slain. Good work!
You gain experience!!
You have slain Caged Drakkin!
You have successfully been granted your reward for: Jokes on You

It is then that you're given the option of Potion or Spell. Enchanters take the spell, everyone else can take the potion. The spell is no trade, so it's useless to select the spell unless you are an Enchanter. And the name of the spell is "Devious Drakkin Disguise."

Regarding faction hits, killing "a bixie harvester," "a harvester drone," "a slavemistress" and "Slavemistress Hizja" all carried the following messages:

Your faction standing with Legion of Stonehive got worse.
Your faction standing with Drones of Stonehive got worse.
Your faction standing with Circle of the Crystalwing got better.

"A harvester drone," by the way, is a caster. He attempted to cast "ensnaring roots," "careless lightning," "immolate," and "creeping crud." He also cast several heals on himself. I got the message "a harvester drone feels much better" at least three times. I cast a second "Mind Shatter" on him, and in spite of his heals, he died the first round of the second Mind Shatter. No other mobs attempted to cast any spells on me.

This is as thorough as I know how to be. If you still can't get your spell after this, I don't know how to help you. Find an Enchanter who's done it to lead you through this. The mobs are a negligible threat to you at level 71, which is the level needed to cast this spell.

The location is exactly as zhmoozo described it. I stood actually inside the quest NPC and took my location. It was -208.69, -1690.47, 5.95. And it was a short NE run to the NPC from the PoK book.

I did ask Assistant Avellone "What pranksters?" That got the response, "I've noticed that the bixies seem afflicted with some mild form of dementia. They are strong and militant to be sure, and they pull pranks on each other which at a glance would appear to be a way of blowing off steam. I'm not so sure that's what this is about, however. Their pranks seem pretty nasty - even resulting in casualties! I need to [observe] them more."

I said, "Observe."

And I was assigned the task "Buzz on the Bixies."

Assistant Avellone says "If you have time, head into Stone Hive and check near the catacombs. I saw a prankster heading that way."

(Obviously, nothing pertinent to this quest.)

I completed the dialogue to get the correct task, "Jokes On You." After I did, Assistant Avellone said "She may still be in disguise, but I just know something is wrong. Perhaps she has been trapped."

Invis is the way to do this. Nothing saw invis. I conned "a hive sentinel" from the outside of the hive and got an "apprehensive. I proceeded slowly and everything conned apprehensive. Collaboration improved this to "amiable." But I was attacked by "a hive alchemist." I was worried about faction hits and aggro, so I called my pet off, but I wasn't fast enough, and "a hive alchemist" was killed. No faction hit from this.

Location of the elevator, up the stairs. And the switch does look like an umbrella holder, complete with umbrella in it. This is actually the switch and the location of the elevator is at 184.03, 30.96, 119.05.

I didn't pay close enough attention to the instructions. I don't know if it was necessary to kill Prunae, but I pet pulled her and my pet, it seems could have easily done the job without me. I have maxed avoidance and mitigation, but her hardest hit was for 50 points of damage. She conned dark gray to me, which means she's trivial.

While my pet was fighting Prunae, I was attacked by a Bixie Harvester. Her hardest hit was for 83 points of damage, and a Polychromatic Assault for 2003 points brought that fight to a decided end.

With that death, "Your faction standing with Legion of Stonehive got worse. Your faction standing with Drones of Stonehive got worse. Your faction standing with Circle of the Crystalwing got better."

Prunae's death brought no faction hits, good or bad. She respawned within five minutes and was indifferent to me.

Slavemistress Hizja appeared shortly after Prunae's death. I have no idea if I am supposed to kill Prunae to make her spawn. It could have been just a coincidence of timing.

Like Prunae, the Slavemistress presented no problems for a 73rd level Enchanter. Her hardest hit was for 71 points of damage. I don't know how many HP she has, but my pet tanked her for a few seconds while I cast a Polychromatic Assault. It landed for 4707, and the Slavemistress was dead.

Same faction hits as "a Bixie Harvester." I looted "a [sic] Imposter clue," and "Caged Drakkin" attacked.

While my pet fought "Caged Drakkin," I also looted a "Hive Defenders Woven Belt" from the Slavemistress's corpse. (Magic Item, Lore Item, Slot: Waist, AC: 7, STR +5, DEX +5, AGI +5, HP: +25, Mana: +30, END: +30 SV Disease: +4, SV Magic: +4, SV Poison: +4, Recommended Level: 40, Required Level: 33, Wt: 0.9, Size: Small, Class: All, Race: All, Slot 1: Type 7).

My pet continued to fight "Caged Drakkin," and I slowed, tashed and nuked with Polychromatic Assault for 2099, my pet hit once more for 88 points of damage, and Caged Drakkin was dead. All three of these mobs conned dark gray to me, and I'm guessing somewhere 4K HP at the most for Slavemistress and Caged Drakkin. My pet would have prevailed in both fights without assistance from me. He was buffed with my Ellowind's and Tenacity. No other buffs or gear.

No faction hits for "Caged Drakkin's" death.

I heard this was an enc illusion spell, so I thought I'd try it to see if it gave any necro illusion spells that we are suposed to have in TSS.

You have two choices:
1) Devious Drakkin Disguise (enc:lvl 71 drakkin illusion)
2) Devious Drakkin Potion (1 charge illusion, Drakkin of Osh`Vir)

Sadly, I can't find the necro spells :(

Assistant Avellone's loc is -208, -1690, 5.

He's in a camp of quest NPCs in the middle of a swampy area in the southeast portion of the zone. They're just about exactly northeast from the POK book and not very far from it.
