For an overview of the Dragons of Norrath expansion, see this wiki article.
For an overview of progression, see quest entries for Norrath's Keepers and the Dark Reign.

This is a non-progression task. It is a group mission (3-6 players) that begins with Gordish Frozenheart (click for map image) in the Norrath's Keepers camp of the Lavastorm Mountains.

Pre-requisites for requesting:
- Minimum Level 63
- Minimum "kindly" faction with Norrath's Keepers

Hail him to get a quest selection window pop-up.

You have been assigned the task 'Clues'.

Reports say that the place the dragons call "The Nest" doesn't look like much of a nest. We know that adventurers have been in there and they tend to be pretty destructive, but from what we've heard they probably didn't cause the kind of damage that has been reported. Our agents have discovered a secret entrance into the ice lair. Get in there and see if you can find anything useful about what happened. You probably won't find any papers or lore, dragons live a very long time and pass their traditions down verbally. To be honest, I'm not real sure what we're looking for. Just go look and see what you can find.

Note: This group mission scales to your group's level. The highest is 68+, outlined here.

Touch the portal to the Nest 0/1 (The Broodlands)

The entrance is the dragon portal in the far northwestern part of the Broodlands.

Explore the Ice Lair in the nest 0/1 (The Accursed Nest)

After zoning in, head toward the southwest corner of the zone (the Ice Lair), killing along the way. Mobs in this zone do not respawn; summon; typically hit for 600-1,000, and are snareable and rootable.

The above step is a location update in the westernmost room of the ice wing.

Keep killing mobs until one drops a MAGIC/LORE/NOTRADE/QUEST item. You'll have to kill almost the entire spawned ice wing before it has a chance to drop. After looting this, head back to the Lavastorm Mountains and speak with Tatsujiro the Serene (whoever looted the item is the one who needs to do the final hail). Known items:

- Deformed Dragon Embryo
- Scrap of Dark Cloth
- Desiccated Drake Corpse
- Dark Dragon Scale
- Shattered Draconic Symbol

Speak with Tatsujiro The Serene 0/1 (Lavastorm Mountains)

You say, 'Hail, Tatsujiro the Serene'

Tatsujiro the Serene says, 'This is a powerful item. I get shivers just touching this small part of it. I can feel the electricity that once coursed through it. It is obviously an artifact of the Broodlands and is very old. I can only guess what it might have looked like when whole. Judging by the outer curvature I'd say that it might have been as large as twenty feet across, if it was indeed a disk-shaped object. I can sense that the magic this object held was defensive in nature, some sort of warding or protective barrier. If that's true, then it must have been huge! Thank you so much for bringing this to us. We will investigate this object very carefully.'

Random Drop Needed
# Jun 26 2008 at 6:55 PM Rating: Decent
I completed the quest today with 8 mobs left and I got the Deformed Dragon Embryo as the quest drop. So FYI keep an eye out for that random No Trade / Quest item it could be anything from the looks.
drop

The name of the drop i got for the good mission was Scrap of dark cloth . killed almost everything in zone before it droped .
the correct collect item

the correct name of the collect is: Dessicated Drake Corpse. It has the "crab" graphics to it.

It is no drop, and once I looted it, the quest updated, and said to go talk to tatsujiro the serene.

Deceivingly Easy?

This sounds like a ridiculously easy quest. But since the mobs do not respawn I'm going to venture a guess to say that you probably have to kill most of the mobs in the zone/section in order for that piece to drop?

Any confirmation yay or nay on that?
Deceivingly Easy?

We used to grind this mission for tokens and crystals. I never got the drop until about 90% of the mobs in the ice section were killed. We crawled different directions, to get to area where it previously dropped for us, and it appears to be random on one of the remaining mobs, once you "trigger" that it will drop. That's how it appears to work. Was off a random mob every time, and a different part of the ice caves too. But the one thing they all had in common was there were only 3-5 mobs left alive.

We did get a fail one time. We killed everything, and it didn't drop. And with no repops, there was no way to win this. Confirmed with our tracker that nothing was left alive in the ice cave section. Didn't bother petitioning. not worth it to waste tiem hoping SoE would make it right. We got decent exp, and called it a night, and it never happened again. Just the once.

Not a fast mission, due to the number of kills you need, before the item drops. Also, the item was not the same every time, but there were several things that could drop, and they all counted for the win.

We liked doing this mission, once we were able to tank them.
