This group task begins with Oathmir the Outcast near the zone-in in The Devastation. It has a 6-hour time limit and 1-hour lockout timer.

You say, 'Hail, Oathmir the Outcast'

Oathmir the Outcast looks you up and down, taking in your weapons and instinctively gauging your ability. He replies in a somber tone. 'Hello. You are different than the rest of us here. You have not come here from the wall. You have somehow come straight from the world.' The outcast slowly shakes his head. 'You should leave this place before its nature becomes your own. I don't believe that you want to become part of the cycle here. Anger released upon others returns tenfold to the giver, they say. I have been in [the wall] and I will go there again, though each time it takes me longer to return, longer to fight my way back. I have been cast from the cycle. I no longer have enough rage in my heart. I [feel disconnected] from Her and without my rage and my desire I have nothing.'

You say, 'Tell me about the wall'

Oathmir the Outcast says 'The wall is, well, it is what it is. Those that die here or in the world with enough anger in their hearts, or those that kill with that anger, come here when they die. We are drawn here, to Her. The wall is where we go. There we fight with each other to be reborn, pushing our way forward to the boundary. [She] only calls those near the edge to do battle unless, of course, [her rage] is so great that she calls one of her most powerful servants from deep in the wall.'

You say, 'Her rage?'

Oathmir the Outcast says 'Her power lies in her intense rage. It is a vitalization, an enervation that feels like nothing else. There is joy in such free-flowing anger. Energy flows through your body, your mind is freed from conscience and you can perform feats that are beyond the mortal. No foe can stand before the rage in its purest form, which only she can achieve. Though [lately]...'

You say, 'Lately?'

Oathmir the Outcast says 'It is hard for me to describe, but her anger has changed. Always when she is very angry the ground has shaken, but only recently has her anger torn the lands. It seems as though she has somehow lost control. You see, the power that can come from anger hinges on controlling it, directing it where it is needed. If somehow she is losing that control certainly [something terrible] will happen.'

You say, 'Something terrible?'

Oathmir the Outcast says 'Something terrible indeed. The wall will certainly consume you should you go near it, but I have seen strong-willed champions such as yourself before, _____. You know what must be done, don't you? Go forth and forge your destiny.'

You have been assigned the task 'Into the Wall'.

Task Steps

Find a way into The Seething Wall 0/1 (The Devastation)

If you are as bold as you look, perhaps you should venture to the outskirts of the Devastation and see if you can claw your way into the wall. (Enter The Seething Wall by clicking on the wall near location 52, 1884, just south of the zone-in.)

Locate the disturbance within the wall 0/1 (The Seething Wall)

A disturbance is disrupting the balance here within the wall. Venture further into the wall and restore the balance to the restless undead within.

Eliminate the disturbance and restore the balance within the wall 0/1 (The Seething Wall)

You have unlocked what may be the main source of unrest within the wall. Locate and destroy the source of unrest so that it may be used against those waiting to be reborn within the Devastation.

Return to Oathmir with news of your success 0/1 (The Devistation)

You have successfully restored the balance within the Wall! Return to Oathmir with news of your success.

Details

In The Seething Wall, you will encounter hordes of roaming undead. Mobs here hit for in the range of 1,100-1,300. Constructs seem to cast a snare spell (Marrow Drain) while spectres cast a short-but-nasty DoT spell called Spectre Drain.

The zone does not respawn, but all the mobs have large roam areas (as well as large aggro/assist ranges), so you'll always have adds.

After killing 30 mobs, you see the emote:

The ground trembles as an unknown entity emerges through the wall.

This spawns a named in one of the three large, circular areas in the zone. It's not known what determines which named spawns. It can be:

Soulbright, the Essence of Life (casts "Soulbright's Disastrous Fury"; hits for a max ???; known to spawn for lower level groups, under Level 67).

Soulbright's Disastrous Fury: PB AE 300', Magic (-500)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 2200
2: Decrease Mana by 700

Katog the Deviating (casts "Thorny Vines"; hits for a max ~1,700; known to spawn for Level 68+ groups).

Thorny Vines: Targeted AE 100', Magic (-200)
1: Decrease HP when cast by 475 (L1) to 569 (L95)
2: Root

Krynor the Feeder (casts "Cataclysmic Consumption" and "Shimmering Silence Dust"; hits for a max ~1,900; AE rampages; known to spawn for Level 70 groups).

Cataclysmic Consumption: Targeted AE 100', Prismatic (-200)
1: Silence

Shimmering Silence Dust: PB AE 100', Magic (-225)
1: Silence

Xywil, the Tree of Life (casts "Flailing Hoofs" and "Xywil's Rampant Revenge"; hits for a max ~1,900; AE rampages; known to spawn for Level 70 groups).

Flailing Hoofs: Single Target, Magic (-275)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 455 (L1) to 925 (L95)

Xywil's Rampant Revenge: PB AE 200', Magic (-1000)
1: Decrease All Resists by 350
2: Increase Curse Counter by 9
3: Increase Curse Counter by 9
4: Increase Curse Counter by 9
5: Increase Curse Counter by 9
6: Increase Curse Counter by 9

Ailerie the Magnificent (unknown fight info).

Kill the named (drops one item of loot), then hail Oathmir in The Devastation for the completion.

Loot

The named drops one item from its loot table. Note: Items are sorted here according to drops that have been reported (along with level info). It's possible that item drop tables are shared across some or all of the possible nameds.

Did this today with 4 people, 78 Ranger, 79 Cleric, 77 Shaman, and the Druid dinged 72 half way through.
Boss mob was a giant Corathus model named Krynor the Feeder hit for 541 most times, once or twice as high as 1731.

It dropped the Dark Shiv of the Fallen for us.

Just did this and never saw Katog the Deviating. Once we got to the first big room, apparently we stood on a trap that kept spawning mobs that would aggro, had 2-5 mobs in camp for a while, would kill a few, then get more adds, finally realized it and moved off into the middle of the room, no more spawns. Killed a few more from another room and then Cejor the (something) popped in the middle of the room, giant tanglefoot model.
