Example of a quest with multiple faction requirements.

You need somewhere around 25 faction (mid indifferent) to get the quest from Marianna (Priests of LIfe) and amiable to get the needed Bar of Ronium from Lord Searfire (Temple of Sol Ro).

1) You need to get the mold for the item. You do this by fetching the quest items and turning them in to the NPC who gives the item quest. You need to have mid-indifferent faction to get these quests. If your faction is not high enough, they will request that you go to their guild and talk to someone there first before getting the quest. Faction needed wtih the Temple of Life in Qeynos [Priests of Life]. If you are not given the quest outright, go ask High Priestess Jahnda am [I an honored member] and if she says yes you have good enough faction to do this quest. Bring Marianna 2 rotten shark portions from plague sharks (a rare spawn found in Erud's Crossing. approx level 30, but around killer sharks which are level 40 or so) and she will reward you with the mold for the vambraces.

Marianna says, 'I said two portions of rotten shark meat.'
Marianna says, 'You now own a mold for the Vambracers of Ro. Go and ask Thomas of [Lord Searfire] for the final component.'

Your faction standing with Priests of Life has been adjusted by 20.
Your faction standing with Knights of Thunder has been adjusted by 6.
Your faction standing with Guards of Qeynos has been adjusted by 10.
Your faction standing with Bloodsabers has been adjusted by -5.
Your faction standing with Antonius Bayle has been adjusted by 3.
You gain experience! (0.029% of level 85)

2) Once you get the mold for an item, you need to talk to Lord Searfire, the Dwarven Smith in The Temple of Solusek Ro. He must consider you amiably before he will deal with you. He will then give you the Sol Cauldron and tell you how to do the next step, which is acquiring the ingredients to make the metal ronium. These are: Melatite (Dropped by MB and MC Clockworks in Solusek's Eye. You can also sometimes buy them from the Gnomes in Solusek's Eye since many players sell them if they find them), Two Bars of Enchanted Platinum, Mistmoore Granite (from Gargoyles in Mistmoore), the Sands of Ro (from sand giants) and Soil of Underfoot (Get from Priestess Ghalea in the Kaladim cleric's guild for 4 fairy dusts [need at least amiable faction for this]). Put them in the cauldron and hit the combine button and you will get a bar of ronium. You do not need the blacksmithing skill to combine these.

3) Once you get the ronium, you need to combine it with the mold in a forge to make your item. Any forge will do. You no longer need the blacksmithing skill for this.

Need all dialogues, faction hits, quest items, /loc of quest mobs.

Rotten Shark Meat
# May 03 2003 at 9:51 PM Rating: Excellent
Get or make a ranger.

There are multiple spawn points. Some are near the docks and some are on the way to where the SeaKing spawns. Your ranger will have to do a fair amount of swimming.

It took me only two kills as of 5/03/2003. Got the stinking rotten meat for both kills.

I soloed at 42 with a "skin like nature" buff and it was pretty close. Might work ok with LOH up and no buffs at lvl 42.

The shark spawns on this island suck, but when my ranger found the sharks, they weren't following the SeaKing.

This quest would really suck if rangers didn't exist.

I've finished this quest, i really like the armor because of the wisdom on it. It wasn't really that hard to find the sharks and kill them. You must have a tracker, and understand that after the shark is killed it will be about 2 hours before another one pops. First of all, i never found the shark following any of the boats that go by in Erud's Crossing. The two times i found him he was swimming in one spot, or was swimming very slowly, i couldn't tell. I was lvl 47 at the time so solo'ing the shark was no problem, and the ranger that was with me was too low to help fight it. Just make sure you have yourself buffed up and have your disease buff on. Only once did his disease dot land on me, and i easily cured it in the middle of the fight. Have your tracker walk around the entire edge of the island tracking for the plague shark, if nothing shows up keep going out further and further into the water while circling the island and tracking. You may have to swim out pretty far, the first one i got surprised me on how far it was from the island. Also, i got the shark meat on two kills.
how to kill the shark
# Nov 11 2001 at 12:39 PM Rating: Decent
My group did it with a 34 pal(me a 35druid and a 30 ranger. First you put your butts on the north east corner of the island(aprox neg775,pos775 there will be a kitty there). Then have your druid cast sow on you our a ranger (you should have the ranger track it down becasue the druid track didn't ahve it even on the track but the ranger did. Second have the druid cas lev on you both(or jsut the ranger). and go pull it this is much safer then swiming becasue you are running at sow speed over the water besides swiming. then the just pull the shark to land aand let the druid nuke. (by the way the one we got was balck to a lvl 34

I've noticed that at least some shark and fish are animals, and therefore susceptible to druidic fear, charm, etc. Snare and fear them and you should do well. I haven't tried this on plague shark yet, but soon - a paladin friend has asked a favor of me :)

Found Shark Spawn Place
# Sep 09 2001 at 3:50 AM Rating: Default
I have found out where the Plague Shark hides out and should make finding and killing him much eaiser.

First you need someone who can track, preferably a druid because he/she will be helpful in killing the shark using this method. Second you need another caster, A Wizzard, Necro, or another Druid is good.
Now have the tracker and the Paladin get on the boat at the Erud's crossing dock and start riding it to zone. have the tracker keep checking track every few seconds. when you are about 4 or 5 seconds from the zone ,the Plague Shark should appear on track. immediately jump off the boat and track down the shark. when you get there have the Paladin get the Shark to follow him/her and train the Shark all the way back to the dock. (you will probably have to use Lay Hands to Survive the pull which is why the pally must do the pulling) when you get to the sandbar next to the dock try and get the Shark stuck on top of the water straight out from the sandbar.(decribed better in one of these other posts).
Here the shark will be immune to Melee damage but can still hit you so swim away fast.(I think if you get levitated after the shark is stuck you can hit it but I have not tried this)
Once there the shark will be easy to nuke to death. just be sure to loot the shark promptly after it is killed.

I have used this method twice to kill the shark and have gotten both of my rotten shark portions.

Also if need be the shark will remain stuck there for at least 6 hours and probably longer since I couldn't find a caster to nuke the shark after I had gotten it stuck

I have seen 4 spots for the spawn of the plague shark. Southeast of the dock: most common. Under where the boat from qeynos enters the zone, less common. Southwest of the dock rare. Way east of the dock swimming around was observed once. Took over 20 kills for the 2 pieces of rotten meat.
Plague Shark trick
# Jul 25 2001 at 7:41 AM Rating: Decent
I have been getting the complete set of Ro Armour over time. So far the hardest one is the Vambraces! The shark will be easy to find if you follow this trick, of course if you have a tracker then this is moot. Get to Erud's crossing and get off on the island. The approx /loc is -1800,+700 right next to the dock where the cat is standing.

Get right up to the water line and go into crouch mode. Then slowly wade into the water until your eyes are just even with the water line. I don't know why but crouching makes it easier. While you're facing the water the dock should be on your left and you will be at the end of the little peninsula. When you get to the point where your eyes are even with the waterline you will be able to see under the water like it was daylight. At that point you should see a few sharks swimming ahead. One of them is the plague shark. Now that you can see him good luck killing him. I couldn't do it alone at level 35 and I am pretty twinked. He hits around 70ish and has a DD spell that hits for 180! He will also debuff you and he has an astronomical rengen rate.

You also don't want to pull him in to close to land as he will get stuck and then you can't hit him even if he's targeted. I had no problem killing him with some guildmates (lvl 57 Bard and Wizard) got rotten shark meat on first kill. He is supposed to be on a 2 hour spawn so we left, I plant to go back and kill him again tonite.

Can't wait to get these arms to replace my FP Vambraces, I need the Widsom and 1 extra AC is nice too.

Good luck to you!

Time Commitment
# Apr 09 2001 at 8:25 PM Rating: Default
I just notice this said 15 hours to complete. Don't I wish!

Here is a breakdown of how much time I think I can conservatively place on this quest.

Rotten shark meat: 20+ hours. Got 1 meat so far.
Faerie dust: 2 hours. 2nd quickest part of this quest.
Melatite: 15 hours. Seems to be an ultra rare drop.
Sands of Ro: 2 hours. Quickest part of this quest. After 3/15/2001 patch the sand giants appear to be dropping 1 sand 100%.
Mistmoore Granite: 40+ hours. Getting past the gauntlet of death into the castle is utterly impossible without a full group and invisibility.

Faction: 10+ hours. Priests of Life in Qeynos, Temple of Solusek Ro, and Clerics of Underfoot. The hours only apply to the Priests of Life, however, since the other 2 are needed for all Ro quests.

That's only 89 hours... conservatively estimating. And I still got to get a 2nd shark meat.
RE: Time Commitment
# Apr 24 2001 at 8:23 AM Rating: Default

I can't speak to the shark portion time.

Good estimate on Faerie dust. Unless you can get a group of Faerie killers to go clean the camp in Lesser Fay. I hunted random spawns in Greater Fay with the help of a tracker. It can drop off any Faerie.

I don't know about Melatite, I went to SolA and auctioned to buy it several times. About 25pp per bar seemed fair.

Sands of Ro do not drop 100%, we killed 3 in South Ro and got none. Bought 2 for 25pp each in Greater Faymart.

Mistmoore Granite is easier. I had a wiz, two pallys, and a ranger all level 30 and we used invis to run in the backdoor through the Graveyard. We ignored the jail, cleaned the Torture Room. Moved to the next room where there are two gargoyles. They were easy for the 4 of us. Also pulled the two in the next room (avoid standing near the bath on the way through - keep moving). By working these 4 in rotation with the Torture room we got plenty of granite in short order. One good trip of 3 hours should net you 2 to 6 of them.

Fairy dust was a pain for me, as I had to hire a ranger on two occasions to help me track them down in GFay (tried to solo pull in LFay, that was a mistake). I probably spent about 4 hours total getting 17 dusts. BTW, don't be an dumbass like me: had amiable faction with clerics of underfoot, but not high enough, 4 dusts wasted. Got faction to warmly, turn in 4 dusts, then do it again immediately. Doh! Soil of Underfoot is LORE. So, I ended up wasting 8 dusts, just a word of warning.

Melatite is impossible without a group, so auctioning for this in Sol A is the best method. I did find one for sale on a gypsy vendor in Rathe, probably sold by a discouraged paladin who turned in quest items to NPC and didn't get the mold. Purchased it off vendor for 106pp, so if you can get them from other players that would be great.

Sand of Ro is commonly auctioned for in EC. On one occasion I bought 3 for 50pp, on another I bought one for 15pp.

MM Granite was by far the easiest, just because I managed to get some guildmates to help me with this right after we finished a guild meeting in GFay. Went in there with: 51 Cleric, 50 Monk, 49 Paladin, 47 Paladin, 40 Warrior, 40 Druid, 34 Paladin (me) and 31 Ranger. As you would expect, we owned the place. I ended up getting 7 granites, the ranger got 2 for his ivy boots quest, and I got one cauldron off the cooks for the Ro BP quest. The higher-up Paladins were also pulling Xiotl or whatever his name is for the Soulfire quest, but no hilt dropped.

As for faction, 10 hours is ridiculous. The two main ones you need for all quests are Clerics of Underfoot and Solusek Ro.

Clerics of Underfoot - Do the bone chip quest. It took me a total of 12 stacks to go from apprehensive to warmly. Auction for bone chips wherever you go, takes about half an hour to turn them all in. Word of advice: spend some time sorting them into stacks of four before talking to him, saves you a bit of time.

Solusek Ro - Do the 3pp donations to the guy in SRo next to Ortallius. I spent about 40pp to get to amiable. The nice thing is the guy you donate to is in the same faction, so you can step back and con him to see when you get to amiable (I still gave him a few extra donations even after that just to be sure). Takes about 15 mins to do this part.

For this specific quest, you need Priests of Life. Also piece of cake. Do the bone chips quest in Qeynos with the Novashine character.

As for me, the only completed Ro quest I have done is the helm. I have the mold for the gauntlets and one cauldron for the BP, but I fully intend on completing them all. Yes, certain Ry'Gorr pieces have better stats. But they also look like crap. If you do any roleplaying or have any pride in your accomplishments, wear the Ro armor proudly, regardless of the stats!
Plague Shark Bugs
# Mar 22 2001 at 7:42 PM Rating: Default
As of 3/18/2001 the plague shark was still bugged.

For those starting this quest, the bugs are as follows:

1. The shark follows the path of the Seaking boat most often. If you kill the shark and it's corpse is on the boat path, the corpse will suddenly "poof" out of existence taking it's loot along with it.

2. Even if you root the shark, it will swim back and forth in a short range while rooted. One second it will be in sword range, the next you will be getting 'target out of range' messages.

3. Occassionally the shark will get 'stuck' on land. In one case where I personally fought the shark, it was stuck on a sand bar and nothing I did would even cause my sword to swing. Others had the same problem. Auto-attack just would NOT kick in. Shield bashing wouldn't even try to hit the shark and arrows fired from a distance wouldn't even leave the bow. Nothing. The GM had to be called to investigate the problems.

4. Occassionally the shark will get 'stuck' on land and *the shark* will not be able to attack YOU. This, of course, is the preferred bug to encounter, but don't expect to see it often. I personally encountered this one as well. Unfortunately, the shark didn't drop anything in this encounter.

5. Tracking will serve a decent purpose, but the bugs in the pathing are such that it will have issues as well. See below.

The shark does, in fact, follow the Seaking. Failing to kill the shark so many times, I had the advantage of seeing it progress on it's route numerous times with the aid of a high level bard with tracking.

The shark follows the Seaking from Qeynos to Erudin and then circles around while the ship is in Erudin. As the Seaking comes back into Erud's Crossing, the shark will actually "teleport" itself across the zone to follow the ship. Once it zones out to Qeynos, the shark will resume it's circular pattern until the ship zones back in.

The other messages are correct, the spawn time is just about 2 hours. Drop rate of the "rotting shark meat" is about 1 in 4.

Here is the weird part. Not having Endure Breath, it was not uncommon for me to run out of air. Surfacing to catch my breath resulted in the shark resuming it's course along the boat path... FAST! It was almost as if I had been wiped from the agro list. Faced with the choice of swimming out into deep water or waiting for it to come back around to shore, I opted for the latter.

The facts: The level range of the shark does vary. One time it conned blue to me at level 34 and another time it conned even to me at level 35.

It will double-hit in the 60-70 point range on each hit.

It will regenerate at a rate of about 50 hit points per tick.

It has about 2500 to 3000 hit points.

It fights in just about every way like a level 40 warrior. Armor class, hit points, damage output, etc.

The "blue-to-a-34" shark resisted a cleric's DD spells 100%, but was affected by a level 30 shaman's DD spells (albeit, with mixed results)

Example, in the case where the shark got stuck on land and could NOT be hit by me (c.f. above), I was accompanied by a 30 shaman, 29 cleric, and 25 ranger. This was the "blue-to-a-34" shark. The ranger got wasted in seconds after swimming out to pull it into shore. That's when the shark got stuck on land. A GM was called to deal with the bug (not being able to hit it), but couldn't really do much but repop the zone. Rather than do that, we had the shaman nuke the shark as best as possible.

Shaman nukes away all his mana and gets the shark down to about half. He canabalizes to get more mana. Cleric, paladin (me) and ranger (now revived) all cast heals on the shammy to help him keep going. He nukes some more, but shark is now at 75% since it is regenerating at 50 hp/tick. About 45 minutes later we manage to finally kill the shark with the shammy nukes.

I have a strong suspicion the GM may have somehow turned off the shark's regeneration or we might NEVER have been able to overcome the bugs.

Considering how easy warrior, cleric, bard, and shaman quests are, would it be so unfair to have the shark drop BOTH portions of the rotting shark meat 100%? Considering that the paladin will still have to do 5 other quests to get the bar of ronium, should he really have to deal with a bugged shark for 16 hours?
RE: Plague Shark Bugs And More

Newest report: 4/9/2001

It took me the longest time to realize there is more to this shark than the bugs. Messages on the bestiary paint a pretty solid picture of what this shark can do, but I will summarize some here.

The shark "procs" a DD spell that does about 75 points of damage. Much like spiders and snakes inject poison, this shark inflicts what appears to be disease, although no icon will appear on your screen. This disease is strictly a DD spell of 75 points or thereabouts. Pump up that DR and have a cleric with you that can buff and heal.

This shark has all the earmarkings of a level 40 mob that caused Verant to say, "Oops" and realize it was far tougher than they intended. Unfortunately, they lowered the level of the shark for resistance purposes, but seemed to forget about the damage it inflicts, the HP hit has, the AC it has, or the regen or the DD spells.

I can only surmise they specifically designed this shark so that it was impossible to solo prior to level 39 when the paladin gets Endure Disease, Daring, Symbol of Ryltan, and Yaulp II.

Newest report: 4/25/2001

The Plague Shark's proc DD is 180 damage (thanks to the patch that tells how much spell damage you take). Also, the shark may be on SLIGHT random timer from it's 2 hour spawn time. It spawned after only 1 hour 50 min one time.
The best bet is still waiting for it come in near the docks with one of the ships though, as it swims very fast and is a pain to catch.

One note, do not log out near the dwarves if you originally started KOS with them as when you first log in there is a bug that causes your faction adjustments to be applied AFTER they check to see if they want to kill you.
The Deal
# Jan 07 2001 at 6:02 PM Rating: Decent
As of 8:20 p.m. CST, I became proud owner of my second rotten shark portion (called meat). Here, as they say, is the deal:

Step One: Go to Erud's Crossing, presumably packing a fishing pole, six pack of beer and SOME MANNER OF CASTING ENDURING BREATH. The last isn't essential but insanely helpful. Also, bring a partner unless you're, I'm guessing 40+. The Killer Shark is NOT your problem. As will be seen, it can be readily avoided in most circumstances. The Plague Shark, on the other hand, as I discovered last night, spawns in a RANGE. Although usually blue to me, the last one I killed conned EVEN, putting it (shockingly, I will admit) at 35...I finished them all off with the assistance (alternatively over 2 days) of my dear friend Gallows (37 Shaman) and usual parrtner Merkusa (31 Enchanter)...yes you may envy my ride-along clarity battery.

Step Two: Move east along the beach along the water until you arrive at the Kerran Tolo...then take about, oh, 10 "baby steps" back towards the dock. You are right about at the point where the two ships from Qeynos bear down on the island. Those ships will be your constant companion for the next several hours.

Step Three: Get buffed as mad stupid as possible. Rune II is REALLY helpful for this pull.

Step Four: The INSTANT the ship appears in the zone, swim out to it. This is not as dangerous as it sounds (you ARE a master swimmer by now, right?). In the 16 hours I spent doing this, I got jumped by a Killer shark ONCE. If all is normal, your first shark will have spawned LONG ago and is currently swimming just underneath and to the left of the ship (it spawns under BOTH the Maiden and the Seaking). As the ship approaches the shore, your prey will seem to swim UNDER it and end up to the right. If you can, PULL Senor Sharkey BEFORE the ship makes its turn.

THE BIG THING: The Pshark's pathing is simply bugged. As evidenced by comments here, it has been for a looooong time. I don't know the technicalities of it but the appearance is that the shark's pathing is tangled in the boats'. This may explain the "flying plague shark" that periodically bedevils the Qeynos-to-Erud run. In any event, for the sake of your own sanity, PULL THE FISH FROM THE PATH OF THE BOAT.

Pull it, ultimately, as close to Tolo's spot on the beach as you can and still be fully underwater. Then ROOT IT AND KEEP IT ROOTED. DO
NOT STOP ROOTING. EVER. NEVER.

Step Four: Kill fish...this, I figure, you can manage, but I might mention that it stuns readily and is not wildly resistant to either 'chanter or shaamie spells.

Step Five: LOOT FIRST INSPECT LOOT LATER. If you've successfully pulled the fish from the path of the boat, the corpse will not FOLLOW THE PATHING AND VANISH as mine did taking a rotten portion with it.

Just so you know, there is NO getting that lost portion back, nice GM told me so. Now, odds are, if you get a piece first time, you are lucky. The portion appears to be an uncommon drop...my ratio, 8 kills, 3 drops. Not bad, but made MUCH worse by...

Step Five: Wait for approx. 2 hours and 15 minutes...Over the course of a day I brought in a ranger and a druid to scope around for another
Pshark.. There ain't one. Oh sure, there's Ksharks and plain-ole sharks. Gallows, my beloved Shaamie friend, earned 50-odd master-plus
levels in swimming working her way through the water (out to the zone wall at one point) and casting sense animal looking for Psharks...NOTHING. The shipshark is IT.

I will NOT be back to Erud's Crossing anytime soon, but I am dang-sure glad to have them bits of rotten shark meat.

All the best and, remember,

PULL IT OFF THE PATH OF THE SHIP!

Getting faction up
# Oct 07 2000 at 8:38 PM Rating: Default
One of the best ways to get faction up, I think, is giving gold to Lashun Novashine in Qeynos. It is very easy, and you don't have to run around questing or anything :) Give 2 gold to him and you get a faction increase and a little bit of experience (not a noticeable amount though if you high enough level to be doing the vambraces quest). Just keep giving him gold until he cons amiable to you. It took me about 230 gold (23 pp) to get my faction from apprehensive to amiable.

Quest is bugged, but not broken. I completed this quest. You can actually use the bugs to yor advantage. The Plague Sharks are on a two hour spawn timer, and always spawn in conjunction with one of the boats (forget which one). Have a Druid or Ranger help you track it. I did indeed have one corpse disappear on me, but after a few more attempts, I got a little lucky when I pulled the shark near the shore, the shark came out of the water and could not/would not attack, but I was able to hit it. Needless to say, I easily killed him. Definitely root him, because if he gets away from you he will regen incredibly quickly. Good luck Pally's, these are indeed nice arms. :)

I finished this quest today, it works perfectly fine. Shark is about a 2 hour spawn and tends to follow the SeaKing boat. Check for him there. He doesnt always drop what you need so I suggest killing him then camping onto another character for a while and checking back every 2 or so hours. Not too hard.

Ronium does not require Fairie Princess Dust. It only requires Fairie Dust which appears to be an uncommon drop from any fairie. I believe the Farie Princess Dust is a special item gotten from Princess Jolena in Lesser Faydark for the Raincaller quest.

No Smithing Skill Is required to form the Ronium or the Armor. I completed all the molds with only 27 smithing skill. I had no fails.

I have just complete all the Ro armor but bracers and vambraces, the armor was reported as 'trivial' to make at my skill (42). My guess is this post is correct, no reall blacksmithing skill is required to make Ro armor anymore.

Plague Shark Pattern

I discovered the following: The Plague Shark is a single spawn, which pops every 2 hours, and follows the same pattern each time. It follows the boat, just undernearth it or alongside. For me, the meat drop was about 50%. I killed 4, but lost one due to it swimming away and dying somewhere I could not find (lost the body in the dark water and it decayed). The net result was that I killed 4, checked 3 corpses and got 2 meat.

Of the Ro Armor quests, this was one of the easier ones.

Aye, the plague shark is a single spawn that appears when a Erudin-bound boat approaches the dock. It seems to like the Golden Maiden better than the Seaking.

It would be a lot easier if you have a druid helping you. Wait on the beach near the two catmen not far north from the dock facing east. When Golden Maiden shows up on the horizon, get endure breathing up and jump into the water. A druid should not have any trouble tracking the plague shark. If you have no tracker, using first person view, you'd want to use surface-dive trick to get a quick glimpse of what's in the water. This will give you a rough position of the shark underwater.

As for the fighting strategy, I'd recommend you to pull the shark to the bottom of the ocean, so you won't have trouble targeting or attacking it. The shark always hits you from the right position, but you sometimes can't hit the shark if you're at the wrong position, costing you those valuable rounds of attacks.

Another addition of info, the shark swims VERY fast. I had sow and a 200 point swimming skill, and it out swam me. The shark swam along the patterns the boats take, but we had trouble getting the shark near the boat as it docked. As boats docked, tracking showed the plague shark elsewhere and moveing.

Finally, we stuck somebody on a boat, as bait. This worked! The shark will follow a boat that has somebody on it. I'd have them sit while on the boat as mobs in general will want to attack somebody sitting down.

I've several times seen that when the Plague Shark is almost dead, he casts(procs ?) a spell while he attacks. So, beware if you are low on Hp.
I die once because of that, no time to LoH myself (doing that when i had only half a buble hp, too late the shark killed me before).

These plague sharks are bugged. One killed me,giving about 600dmg (I have at least 1200HP!)and a friend druid lvl39 with only 350dmg...You can't hit them when they are not in water (they sometimes "fly", following the boat...We killed 2 of them in 2 days and NO MEAT :(

Well. I am pretty frustrated with these plague sharks. My group has killed nine over the course of a week and have recieved ONE rotten shark meat. We dont have the time to camp them and at 2 hours spawn time who does? Anyway...it was not a bug, just not a common drop from them.

The Plague sharks are not lvl 30, they are lvl 35. Two lvl 35 Paladinss can not kill these things. I had to ask a lvl 46 Cleric friend to come and blast it, and even then it took all his mana! Also, the shark didn't drop the rotten shark parts but that could have been a bug.

The plague sharks are level 30 or so, but no paladin can solo them till 45 or higher unless they use a known bug. They cast a spell that takes about a bubble of HP per cast, and it seems to be a reposte. This makes them hard, but the fact that a paladin must fight in the water, without endure breathing , makes this near impossible. The only safe plauge shark to kill is the one that gets stuck on the sea king boat, he comes once every 2 hours. My opinion is that the mob should have been trigered by a NPC( see token quests and Squire Narl) and make the mob to kill be undead, it would make this a much more fun quest.
