Requesting the Expedition

If this is your first time doing this Ikkinz trial, you will need to first speak with Kevren Nalavat (click for map image) in Kod'Taz, the Broken Trial Grounds, as part of Gates of Discord Progression.

If you follow his dialogue and say "Singular Might", he directs you to see Gazak Klelkek (click for map image), who gives out this expedition.

If you've already done progression, you can bypass Kevren Nalavat and speak directly to Gazak Klelkek.

You say, 'Hail, Gazak Klelkek'

Gazak Klelkek says 'Keep your voice down! We must not attract any [undo attention] to ourselves here. I may be the liaison for the Temple of Singular Might, but that doesn't make me any less of a target. I have kept watch of this temple since we began collecting information on the trusik and the Legion of Mata Muram. You should ask Kevren for more information on them if you haven't already.'

You say, 'What undo attention?'

Gazak Klelkek says 'Certainly you do not believe that we are alone here, do you? The Muramites have assigned one of their magic users to gather spiritual artifacts from this area and use their power to gain strength. This creature, which we have dubbed the [Diabolic Destroyer], controls the temple and its inner abominations.'

You say, 'What is the Diabolic destroyer?'

Gazak Klelkek says 'It is one of a fearsome collective that commands minions to do its bidding. The beast's minions recover the artifacts from within the temple. The master then extracts the energy from the artifact to become more powerful. You and your party must venture inside the temple and [eradicate the beast] before it can recover any more artifacts. The Muramites will reinforce their position shortly after it has been defeated, but we cannot allow any single creature of this sort to become too powerful.'

You say, 'I will eradicate the beast!'

Gazak Klelkek says 'Your task is to battle through the temple and enter an entrance to the inner chambers of the Temple of Singular Might. Once inside you must find the Diabolic Destroyer and kill it before it becomes more powerful. You must recover an artifact from the beast and return it to me. Once you have done this, you will be allowed to move onto the next trial. When you are [ready to proceed] and have a group with you, return to me and I shall set you on your way.'

You say, 'I am ready to proceed'

Gazak Klelkek says 'Very well then, _____. Good luck on your journey through the temple and may you prove to the brotherhood that you are more than meets the eye. The temple awaits...'

The direction to the entry to your instanced zone(s) have been marked on your compass.
Ikkinz, Chambers of Singular Might is now available to you.

The instance entrance is in the temple due east of Gazak Klelkek.

Lockout Timers

As soon as you request the expedition, you receive a 1-hour lockout timer. If you kill a loot-dropping named in the instance, you receive an 8-hour lockout timer. If you kill the Diabolic Destroyer, you receive a 17-hour lockout timer. (All timers are from the point of request.)

Named Mobs

Named mobs that are confirmed to spawn in this instance:

Pixtt Annihilator (loot dropper)
Pixtt Decimator (isn't known to drop any stat loot)
Pixtt Slaughterer (isn't known to drop any stat loot)
Pixtt Venomblade (loot dropper)

Named mobs have a chance to be up as soon as you zone in.

Expedition

General mob population here tend to hit for a max ~1,450 while named (loot dropping) mobs tend to hit for a max ~2,400.

Here, you need to make your way to the first room on your right where you'll find the Diabolic Destroyer. You need a strong tank, cleric and bard/enchanter for this encounter.

NOTE: The Diabolic Destroyer will clear its hate list if the tank uses his/her defensive discipline. Upon engaging the destroyer, three adds ("Dire Illusion"; hit for a max ~1,000; stunnable/mezzable/kiteable) spawn. Every 10 seconds, two more of these adds spawn.

You'll see this emote when the adds appear:

Diabolic Destroyer says 'Foul creatures! I will not be stopped! These should take care of you for a while!'

Upon the Diabolic Destroyer's death, the expedition locks, and you see:

Diabolic Destroyer has been slain by _____!

The Diabolic Destroyer has been defeated! Though the legion may send a replacement, you have finished what you sought out to do and delayed their progress for a time! Congratulations!

At this time, an Ikaav called "Cruel Illusion" spawns and aggro's. This is a rather trivial encounter in comparison. Kill the illusion and, if you're here for progression, loot the "Ruined Pendant of Might" from its corpse (six of them are dropped at a time).

Cruel Illusion has been slain by _____!
Cruel Illusion's corpse can no longer serve its creator.

The pendant is used as part of Gates of Discord Progression.

The Diabolic Destroyer drops a loot item and sometimes a spell rune.

Repeating the Trial

You can repeat the trial at any time by speaking with Gazak Klelkek again:

You say, 'Hail, Gazak Klelkek'

Gazak Klelkek says 'Though you have already completed the first trial we can always use someone to eradicate a ferocious beast. If you are looking for something else to do, return to Kevren Nalavat to see if he has anything else in store for you. If you want to attempt this trial again and [eradicate the beast], just tell me so and I will prepare you for your trial.'

This leads into the same text as above.

Why doesn't the description say that I'm supposed to give the pendant to Gazak? Thanks for wasting my time running back to Kevren.

Sneak around ?

Kevren looks towards the ground, shamefully. 'It wasn't the most glamorous thing to do, I know. But you have to understand that I have never been the adventurous type! I certainly didn't want glamour of any kind. I figured sneaking around to gather [what was needed] would be easier than trying to fight my way through. Plus, sneaking around allowed me to go alone into ruins so I didn't need to rely on anyone.

What was needed ?

Kevren suddenly looks up at you with renewed earnest. 'Oh you wouldn't believe the things I've already found out about the people who built the temples around here! Well firstly, it's been a bit more difficult than usual to find anything out about them because they have no written history -- they tell stories complemented with glyphs to recount their history. I've learned how to interpret most of the glyphs I've encountered so far and believe me when I say that it's been some of the most interesting work I've done thus far. That reminds me, do you want to hear some more about the [background information] of this area or are you ready to learn about the [trials]?'

Then it continues with the info already known for the responses to [trials] and [Background information]

During the fight:

Diabolic Destroyer says 'Foul creatures! I will not be stopped! These should take care of you for a while!'

That means adds are coming.

Death emote for Diabolic Destroyer:

Your expedition is nearing its close. You cannot bring any additional people into your expedition at this time.

The Diabolic Destroyer has been defeated! Though the legion may send a replacement, you have finished what you sought out to do and delayed their progress for a time! Congratulations!

Diabolic Destroyer has been slain by ________!

Cruel Illusion death emote:

Cruel Illusion's corpse can no longer serve its creator.

Cruel Illusion has been slain by _______!

So do you get the rewards at the end for the whole group like in a spell mission or is it one reward per group?

All the adds of the Diabolic Destroyer (called "Dire Illusion" btw) despawn once the Destroyer is down, thus burning the Named is a viable strat =)
Dialogs for the Trial of Singular Might

Here are the dialogs that introduce the group trials in Kod'Taz, as well as the start of the Trial of Singular Might.

You say, 'Hail, Kevren Nalavat'
Kevren looks relieved to see you. 'Finally the Wayfarers Brotherhood has sent adventurers this far out. I was beginning to wonder what was happening. I'm Kevren Nalavat, one of the brotherhood's traveling scholars. We can talk [more] later. The important thing is that you're here and now that you are you'll need to prove that you're up to the challenges facing us on this rugged terrain. I've been all through this area and it's no place to be caught unaware! So what do you say? Are you [ready to be tested]?'

You say, 'more'
Kevren Nalavat says 'Well I haven't always been the bold adventurer you see before you. I know I may not look too daring, but that's because I'm trying to keep a low profile. Before I joined the Wayfarers Brotherhood I was a learned scholar and knowledge-seeker. I sought to uncover the mysteries of ancient ruins and civilizations lost long ago. I was so focused on my studies that most of my colleagues thought I bordered on [crazy].'

You say, 'crazy?'
Kevren Nalavat says 'Yes, crazy. I didn't mind though. I knew most of them would never uncover a full understanding of the past like I was. I continued my studies until I was approached by Morden Rasp -- I'm sure you've heard of him. He contacted me and said he was going to begin gathering artifacts from civilizations lost to the ages and that my skills were going to be needed in the times to come. I couldn't help but [join him].'

You say, 'Why did you join him?'
Kevren Nalavat says 'His offer was irresistible! Since I joined the brotherhood I have provided my continuing expertise about lost civilizations. Of course, Morden told me that just being a scholar wasn't going to be enough. He said I had to learn some other skill to stay with the brotherhood as an explorer. I had already learned so much so quickly and didn't dare leave with all the new and exciting items we were getting from adventurers, so I decided to learn how to become a rogue so I could [sneak around] to collect what I needed.'

You say, 'I am ready to be tested'
Kevren nods his approval, 'Good to hear! If you're interested I can give you a little [background information] about the mountaintop here before we get started, otherwise I'll explain the [trials] to you.'

You say, 'Sure, I would like some background information'
Kevren Nalavat says 'Good. There's no use going into an area without knowing the lay of the land. The first thing you should know is that you're walking into a huge expanse at the top of the mountain. It must have taken several years to dig out all the rock from the mountain. With the space they dug out they were able to build grand temples into the side of the mountain. Until you've seen them for yourself you can't imagine their [grandeur].'

You say, 'This place? Grandeur??'
Kevren Nalavat says 'Oh indeed! The trusik -- that's what they call themselves -- had powerful geomancers that must have expended huge amounts of energy to shape and mold the mountain. They used mighty golems to clear away the rubble so they could continue their work. The temples they built are all in recognition to [some being] they worshipped long ago and some of them seem to reach the sky!'

You say, 'That must have been some being'
Kevren Nalavat says 'From what I've been able to gather these people prayed to a god they call Trushar. They believed Trushar was the one who controlled the seas. It was to this deity that they prayed for the destruction of all non-believers and those who exiled them. I tend to wonder if they [prayed for the destruction] of non-believers or the nihil in the city.'

You say, 'They prayed for the destruction?'
Kevren scrunches his brow thoughtfully. 'From the information I've sorted through so far, the nihil in the city kicked the trusik out because they were tired of the fanatic belief in their beloved sea god. I even think that's where the name trusik comes from, a title for exiled believers of a non-existent being. I'm hoping that we can uncover some more of those [mysteries] in the temples beyond.'

You say, 'What mysteries?'
Kevren Nalavat says 'There are still some things that are left unexplained. Most importantly is the fact that we don't know how deep the invader presence goes. We need to discover some of the reasons for the temples, what purpose they serve now, and what the invaders have to do with them. We need to investigate the temples and the remains further for this information. That's where [you come in].'

You say, 'I come in?'
Kevren sighs, 'I haven't had a lot of time to look around the temples, because I was commissioned to scout ahead and remain here for the adventuring parties that would be sent shortly after. Now that those parties are being sent, I have to maintain my post and make sure that those we're sending in to look for the information for us are up to the task. That's the very reason we have designed the [trials].'

You say, 'what trials'
Kevren's look turns serious. 'There are any number of new threats with these invaders and we're unsure just how powerful or how many of them there are. We need to make sure that those of you being sent up here to find that information out for us won't be scared off by the destructive force these invaders bring along with them. The trials must be done in a [specific order] and must all be completed before we can allow you to attempt any further work for the brotherhood.'

You say, 'How quaint. A specific order?'
Kevren Nalavat says 'There exist three temples nearby that you must enter. I have defined these three as the Temple of [Singular Might], Temple of [Twin Struggles], and Temple of the [Tri-Fates]. In each lay the forces of the Legion of Mata Muram who must be destroyed. You must not be fooled, we do not control these temples. The areas are controlled by the [Muramites], but we believe that these places hold the most predictable of the invaders and can be used easily as our testing grounds.'

You say, 'singular might'
Kevren Nalavat says 'Beyond the dark fog to the south lies the Temple of Singular Might. You can find it between the two other temples. In front of the temple you will find a single, smaller temple where another of the brotherhood is waiting for you. Seek out Gazak Klelkek and speak to him about the troubles within the temple.'

After we completed the trial, we tried handing in the Ruined Pendant of Might as stated above, but Gazak would not take it. We tried hailing and following dialog on both Gazak and Kevren, but neither helped. Anyone know if there is more to this in order to get Gazak to accept the pendant?

Yeah, we have the same problem atm.

Gazak Klelkek says 'I appreciate that you must have fought hard for this, but I cannot accept it yet. Please speak with Kevren Nalavat about the trials and once I have received word that you are actually ready to do the trials, you can present it to me again.'

Ah, our problem was we didn't do the conversation with Kevren Nalavat. You can do the mission without hailing, But you need to do the hails and converse with him before doing the hand in or Gazak won't accept the item.
