You say, 'Hail, Brevin Guirre'

Brevin Guirre bows deeply before you, 'Well met adventurer! How did I know you were not mere travelers? Easy. . .by the flash of steel in your eyes and fire in your step. Alas, as old as I am, I can barely remember the days when I walked across these lands with the same determination you have now. What Orcish steel could not beat, time has proved the victor over. You see, I am bounty hunter by trade but fear that I have taken a [charge] that I am not able to fulfill.'

You say, 'What charge?'

Brevin Guirre smiles warmly, 'Interested are you? What you lack in experience you make up for in courage! Very well, here is the bounty poster I got from the local guards. Though too old to accompany you, I can offer one final boon to you. Simply let me know when you are [ready] and I can transport you to the area where I have tracked down the scoundrels.'

You say, 'I am ready.'

You are teleported into an instanced version of Nektulos Forest (what is the instance called as you zone in?). All the regular mobs spawn, plus some extras special to the instance.

Kill the Jax Triplets

Frogar Jax, Logar Jax, and Nojar Jax are the triplets in question.

Find Omar the Shiv and slay him
Stop Bad Water Bill from lurking in these woods
Slay the Hunter of the West Woods

The "Hunter" is the West Woods dread wolf.

Kill the gang's leader, Ranz Whipsting

Wanted: Dead
The Snarlwood Bandits

Due to increased robberies conducted along this trade routes [sic], the sentence of death has hereby been placed on the following members of the Snarlwood Bandit gang.

Omar the Shiv a rogue known for using deadly poisons and traps.

Badwater Bill A pirate who traveled inland to study the art of swordplay.

The Hunter of the West Woods An unknown assassin who runs with the Snarlwood Bandits. He can send an arrow through a copper piece from one hundred yards. Also rumored to have an affinity for a dread wolf pack he saved from a forest fire.

The Jax brothers troll triplets. The muscle of the group.

Ranz Whipsting A drop out of the Neriak mages guild, The Spurned. Also rumored to be the leader of the group.

There is no reward on the heads of these individuals, although whoever carries out this sentence is hereby officially sanctioned to claim all goods previously stolen by the bandits.

Reward(s):

tried this one a few dozen more times...still broken, sadly. however, did learn that +5 augs can also drop, although with much less frequency. (people occasionally ask me why i never roll on augs in ldons...hehe)

Weve dont this a bunch of times, now. Our 20ish alts are running out of places to put the augs. (gotten all sorts of stat or save+4 augs, and hp and mana +10 augs...nothing great, but they wont be dropping in ldons for another 20 levels or so)

Mobs are constantly stuck in the edge of the "trees" that form the edges of the map. Omar has spawned close enough to the edge to aggro once. other than that, he has spawned well off the map, making him naccessable. Hunter of the west wood has always spawned in the same, inaccessable spot between the halfling camp and the path to the zone to east commonlands.

Bll and the Jax twns occasonally drop a no traqde version of fine steel rapier. Any of them can have fne steel weapons.

The wolves are the most dangerous of the mobs. Not because of their level, but because they travel, appropriately enough, in packs. Also, my cleric tried to scatter the wolves with wave of fear with 3 wolves in range, and it diddnt land. No resist message, no "this is immune" type message..it just had no effect. Also, while fighting the wolves, Periodically, the Hunter will shoot somone from deep withing the woods for 101 damage. Its some kind of abulity of the wolves, because the Hunter has not spawned at this point. (he spawns when oyu have killed 5 wolves. I believe at this point the other wolves may despawn.)

The spawning issue mus be something just affecting my server (quellious) since people on other servers have finished the task.

On a side note, this task can be gotten by any level group. (weve run through it with our mains, but still couldnt finish it because of spawning issues) There is, however, a maxmum spread, like with most tasks. Since the rewards from this task that arent augs are mostly not no trade, it would be easy for someone to havea main group with 3 friends, then run through it solo. Of course, its pretty easy for 3 level 20s, so there isnt a huge point n solong this with a 70.

If anyone ahs any questions, or ideas on the spawn ssue im having, feel free to send a tell to me, or any other member of Novus Orsus on quellious.

What are the exact names (and approximate levels) of the Jax mobs in-game? Are they all named the same? Do they have the same abilities?

Thanks in advance.

P.S. If you have screenshots of these mobs, feel free to send them to me at fleven@allakhazam.com and I'll make sure that they get posted.

ill endevor to get you this tonight. they all have different names. if i recall frogar jax, logar jax, and rogar jax, but ill double check the names. they are all trolls. pretty simple melee mobs. no apparent special abilities. all are db to a level 23. i suspect they are levels 20, 21 and 22 respectively, but thats just idle speulation on my part.

I, and a couple of guildies made a go at this one a few hours ago. The zone is an instanced version of Nektulos Forest (same name as normal)

The Jax triplets were a bit tricky. One was at the gate to Neriak. the other two were on the roof of the gate house. One jax brother dropped a fine steel scimitar.

Omar the Shiv was pretty tricky. I think he spawns, and de-spawns, at random places and at random ntervals throughout the zone. Annoyingly, he spawned just inside the forest wall near the POK book. When one of my party members sprung one of his traps, he warped out of the wall and aggroed. He dropped a +4 str aug lke you would find in LDONS.

Badwater Bill was rght on the path just by the zone in. Couldn't have avoided him if we had wanted to. This was the only dangerous part of the mission, as several wolves happened to wander by and aggro.

Hunter of the west wood is the mob that ruined it for us. He was trapped outside the map between the zone in from east commons and the halfling camps. we were never able to get him out. couldnt get a target, and my PBAE couldnt reach him.
Some things of note:
Alot more mobs pop in ths instanced zone than do in the real nek. Im talking something like 2-3 times the regular number.
The skeletons will aggro regardless of your level, just like n the real nek. at one point we had about 2 dozen on us from running around, trying to find guys.
The nameds are cream puffs. the wolves are the more dangerous mobs, and they travel in small groups.
the pathing sucks. remeber when nek was first revamped, and pets would spend forever walking n small circles because they couldnt find a path to you over open ground and short dstances? yeah, its like that.
wandering near and far throughout the zone, there were mobs stuck in the walls of the zone, the tree, all over the place. and alot of the halflings seemed to be missing, and wondering outside their normal areas.
Zoning out is a good way to LD. It diddnt happen ever time, but our ranger accidentally zoned into neriak, and LDed while zoning.
Speaking of rangers, untl you have the misson down, try to brng a tracker. It saved us much frustration. I dont know if the mobs spawn points is static, but it doesnt look like it.
We were a 26 (?) ranger, a 24 necro (beware of halflngs!) and a 20 cleric who had forgotten to get her latest spells, including her update to heal. we were ill prepared, underbuffed, and not very well geared. We stomped the mobs fairly easily and safely, and had a good bit of fun doing it. Hopefully, the nstance can be made more stable, and the spawn points fixed. We plan on trying again soon.
