This quest may be given by various NPCs, depending on who controls the zone, including Skald Jergald, "a dark initiate", "a headhunter", "a scout", or "a farspirit". These NPCs con indifferent and are always at the same spot, close to and facing the inner stronghold door. When you zone in, break the door in front of you and the NPC will be right there.

You say, 'Hail, Skald Jergald'

Skald Jergald says 'I shall only hold my rage back if you [can prove] your worth.'

You say, 'I can prove my worth.'

If you do not stand close enough when saying this...

Skald Jergald says 'You need to prove your dedication to our cause before I can discuss such matters with you.'

If you do stand close enough you are presented with a task selection dialog. For "Bring Me Their Heads":

Deliver 4 Bloody Orc Head (0/4) - Sverag, Stronghold of Rage

Heads, limbs, flesh! Bring me whatever it takes to show me that you are willing to fight against our enemy!

Upon turning in four Blood Orc Heads, you receive your class spell:

Bard - Spell: Arcane Aria
Beastlord - Skill: Rake
Berserker - Skill: Bloodthirst
Cleric - Spell: Elixir of Divinity
Druid - Spell: Barkspur
Enchanter - Spell: Ward of Bedazzlement

Been trying for 3 days now, NPC has not been at location. have only seen "a scout" and he has been pathing around with all the others. and sometimes just wonders out of view. Also, if "a scout" does not give "bring me their heads" quest then why is he listed as doing so?

I was able to solo this with my necro, only because I have 2 invulnerable spells. I sat at the entrance with my nec and ranger, tracking this guy all over the zone. He finally popped up in the courtyard and with DA I was able to do the turn-in. He continues to roam and warp, even while getting the quest and doing the turn-in, adding a whole nother level of complexity to the equation. The best way I've heard of getting this done now is what my guild did. Went there and had the guild tank train everything in the zone and the rest of us spread out in search of the npc. Of course, I wasn't online at the time, so I had to figure out a way to do it on my own.

I have kept an alt at the turn in position for these spells. I had previously done this quest with another alt. So far, I've been checking the camp 2-3 times per day for the past week with no sign of the quest npc at his usual site. The npc is in the zone - you can see him pathing around a portion of the zone - disappearing through walls - and you can hail him but he doesn't seem to stop. The alt I have there is a wizard and I've been using my Eye of Zomm to survery the entire zone looking for him and he simply disappears for long periods. I finally did petitian SoE and they told me that this was a "known bug" and that they had asked the software developers to look into this. Have you seen the funny article Sony posted about "what is SOON?" . Wouldn't hold my breath.

Same here. I finally got figured how to get this spell as I quit EQ for a bit when Dodh and PoR came out and collected the heads and the NPC isn't there. Anyone has petitioned this?

Now the NPCs are back at the entrance but they don't want to take the quest items. I made sure I was close enough and still didn't work. Skald Vergaldin was the NPC up when I went there with 4 bloody orc heads. I petitioned but didn't hear about it yet.
Just A FYI, or two...

If the mobs around him aggro while you are doing turnin, and die, not sure why, but you loose the spell and the heads.

Also, if the orcs control the zone, and you have 4 bloody orc heads, the orc "a scout" does not offer the Bring Me Their Heads quest.

Just completed one of these tasks; Bring me their Heads.

Collect 4 Bloody Orc Heads.

I was able to collect the heads before I received the task, as stated in the patch message.
I had to break both doors down to enter the keep. Found the Kobolds were in power and "a headhunter" was standing just past the second door ( +1007.12, -10.30, +12.21 ) and he conned indifferent to me.

I waited until his friends pathed away, moved up and hailed him.

You say, 'Hail a headhunter'
a headhunter says 'I shall only hold my rage back if you [can prove] your worth.'
You say, 'I can prove my worth'
a headhunter says 'You need to prove your dedication to our cause before I can discuss such matters with you.'

A task box appeared with apparently ALL the tasks to pick from. I selected the "Bring me their Heads" task (it was also marked green indicating I had the items to complete it).

You have been assigned the task 'Bring Me Their Heads!'.

(Turned in 4 Bloody Orc heads (not stacked))

Your task 'Bring Me Their Heads!' has been updated.
Your task 'Bring Me Their Heads!' has been updated.
Your task 'Bring Me Their Heads!' has been updated.
Your task 'Bring Me Their Heads!' has been updated.
(Yellow text for the rest of this)
Well, I guess that proves something. You were willing to destroy just because I asked you to. You may have a heart of rage in there after all.
You gain experience!!

No faction hits showed
No coin reward
No item reward

I returned to speak with "a headhunter" and followed the dialog a second time. Now the "Bring Me Their Heads" task is no longer available - a progression?! or just a list of tasks?!

Note: as I was speaking with the NPC the second time, the spiders took over the Keep, the 'a headhunter' was attacked (as was I). He managed to slay the spiders and maintain his position at the door. So, not sure how they rotate through the races. I "assume" that sooner or later someone will re-agro him, destroy him, and a new racial NPC will replace him.

If you help the spiders skill the headhunter, could allow the spiders to take over the Stronghold. Somewhat like the Hollowshade wars.
change in requirements
# Jun 13 2006 at 4:24 PM Rating: Decent
From today's patch message 06/13/06:

- Removed the "Loot 4" requirement from all of the "Bring Me Their Heads" quests in Devastation and Stronghold of Rage. This should make these quests more accessible by allowing characters to collect the items needed, then get the quest and hand them in to complete it.
- Added an experience reward for the "Bring Me Their Heads" and "Engines of Destruction" tasks in the Devastation and Stronghold of Rage.
