This task is offered to random people after random kills in Sverag, Stronghold of Rage. (Is there anything specific required for the Razorthorn challenge?) There is a normal mode as well as a hard mode.

If you accept the task offered, you, along with your groupmates, will be offered a port into the Tower of Sullon Zek.

The first of four challenges lies ahead. Use tact, use strength, use what you will but be warned -- should one of you fall, the essence of your warrior spirit will seek out great champions and infuse them with a disasterous rage.

Enter Razorthorn, Tower of Sullon Zek 0/1 (Sverag, Stronghold of Rage)

Defeat the first challenge within Razorthorn 0/1 (Razorthorn, Tower of Sullon Zek)

Defeat the second challenge within Razorthorn 0/1 (Razorthorn, Tower of Sullon Zek)

Defeat the third challenge within Razorthorn 0/1 (Razorthorn, Tower of Sullon Zek)

Defeat the fourth challenge within Razorthorn 0/1 (Razorthorn, Tower of Sullon Zek)

In each challenge, you must clear a number of trash mobs in order to reach a named. Killing the named completes the challenge and moves you on to the next. There are four "challenges" in total.

If someone dies during the task, the named mob of your current challenge will increase in strength. If you have more than 10 deaths throughout the entire task, you fail.

In the first challenge, you will encounter barbarians and dwarves. The final named is Segnar, Defender of Razorthorn, who spawns alongside two champion guardians.

In the second challenge, you will encounter kobolds and minotaurs. The final named is Uvilan the Tyrant.

In the third challenge, you will encounter Bolvirks, ogres, and trolls. The final named is Broo, the Defender of Solitude.

In the fourth challenge, you will encounter Grigak the Champion, who drops the loot rewarded in this task.

Loot depends on whether you opted for the normal version or the hard version. Among his drops:

Torn Veil of Sanity (normal)
Cracked Stone of Savagery (normal, though reported from hard as well)

Chaotic Shard of Ether (hard)
Jagged Fragment of Bloody Steel (hard)

Tainted Cloak of Cognition (unknown)
Quiescent Guard of the Forgotten (unknown)

Dropped on the hard version of this task, needless to say we were disappointed.

Confirmed. Cracked Stone of Savagery indeed drops from the HARD version and is, yes, quite disappointing.

Edit: Did the HARD mission two more times. First was another 2-hander aug with the last dropping Chaotic Shard of Ether (my goal).

I just did this mission on hard and was very disapointed. Over 3 hours and The cracked stone of savagery droped, wich is 2h only btw. I passed on aug since it basicaly sucks for a mission of this length on hard. Both the DoN merchant aug and the Seeker aug are better imo. This reminds me of the silly DoD loots, who puts a lifesap I proc on a type8 aug? I might have considered using it if it was a type 4 and replaced my CS IV, or maybe if it was 1h I might have put on my 1hs,or even stuck it on my bow. Lifesap I gets resisted constantly, I removed a lifsap II aug from my epic since it was basicaly useless on anything I exp on.

After looking over the loot table, I have to conclude this mission is a waste of time. Pretty much every thing that drops in this mission has a same slot curser reward from a DoD mission that is the same or better for about 1/3 the time invested. Not sure what to make of the loot anyway, reminds me of DoD loot, class restrictions that make no sense, no ac stat, and really crappy stats. Exp at 75 was poor and exp for my 67clr bot was decent but not as good as exp in a nest mission.

I could see the aug as a reward for normal mission maybe, but its needs to be a type 4. For hard it should atleast have a +dmg component and something usefull as a proc, maybe fit 1handers as well.
various info

Cracked Stone of Savagery
Chaotic Shard of Ether
Jagged Fragment of Bloody Steel

All drop from hard. So far I've seen 4 cracked stone of savagery, 6 Chaotic Shard of Ether and 2 Jagged Fragment of Bloody Steel in 12 missions.

Never did it on normal but would make sense that the 3 regular items drop from that.

Barbarians and Bolvirks cast Marrow Drain - annoying spell that dispells both shammy haste and pallies' Ward of Tunare.

Third boss casts Thorny Vines - AE root that's very hard to resist, even with bard song.

Adds on 4th boss seem to spawn at random times. Last time we got zero adds, and the time before we had one add spawn around 60% and then another 3 around 10%. Group was exactly the same.

the fourth challenge

The fourth challenge is *only* Grigak the Champion. There are no mobs to kill. He spawns adds, which seem to be timer based. The summoners around him just seem to be there for cosmetic reasons.

Is the loot table shared between hard and easy?

the big question is, does FD count as a death here, as it does again Avhi in the carprin cycle?

what about pet deaths?

Neither FD or pet deaths count. We had only one death and that was when our monk lagged while pulling.

A small unattackable mob spawned and walked towards the nearest named, and then was 'consumed' by the boss. The trash didnt seem any harder, but I assume the named was.
don't die
# Mar 15 2006 at 7:59 PM Rating: Decent
Mobs are EASY until you die. About in line with MPG, or maybe RSS. I could tank 2 as a monk w/o probs, but if you have ONE death, they start hitting for 1500 instead of 1200, and so on goes up to 2.3k, and at 10 deaths you get booted from zone
