First take your trophy in either your left or right hand then take the certificate that I am also giving you and put it in the appropriate tradeskill container and your trophy will evolve to the proper level for the test you have taken.' You receive the Beginner Brewer Trophy and an Apprentice Brewer Certificate. Equip the trophy in your PRIMARY slot, then combine the certificate by itself in a brew barrel or collapsible distillery and your trophy will evolve to an Apprentice Brewer Trophy. The trophies are evolving items that also evolve as you craft recipes within a certain non-trivial range (reportedly 100) above your current skill level. Once you pass into the next skill level bracket, the trophy should evolve soon afterward. The trophies can also summon weight-reducing bags like the older trophies. When you take these bags to Jolum in the Bazaar, you get an Essence, and can combine the Essence in a brew barrel or collapsible distillery to get a permanent weight-reducing bag specific to brewing. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

I just finished the Apprentice Brewer quest, and I got my Certificate and Beginner Trophy, but when I tried combining them in the Guild Brewing barrel, I got the message "You cannot combine these items in this container type!". So I went to PoK, and tried it there, and I got the same message! What the F***? Anyone have any idea?
You hold the trophy and only put the certificate in the brew barrel
Equip the trophy in your PRIMARY slot, then combine the certificate by itself in a brew barrel or collapsible distillery and your trophy will evolve to an Apprentice Brewer Trophy.

You list of things from outside of PoK needs to include the Common Sticks which are only foraged from GFay and the berries which are foraged or ground spawn

There is no longer any need to do the turn in to Jolum in the Bazaar. When you click the trophy, it summons the bag.

Actually, you're wrong. If you want the Trade skill only container, which is a 24 slot bag, you still have to do the turn in. You will get an Essence, which you put in the container of the trade skill and hit combine. This will give you both the Trade skill only container and a 12-slot bag named after the trade skill, which is permanent, rather than Temporary! For Brewing, the bag is named Brewmaster's Carryall, and the component bag is named Brewmaster's Component bag. To get these, you must have your trophy maxed!
