I am a level 16 human mage from Freeport and the animated scarecrows always attack me on sight. This can be a problem because even though I can kill them it does tend to take a lot out of me. I got killed by one because I had just finished a fight and was down to 25% health and meditating trying to get strong again when it attacked. It managed to kill my pet then chase me down before I could get to the guards.
Nice way for dark races/classes to build some good factions in Qeynos without lowering any of the bad ones. I intend to do this often with my shadowknight once he becomeas strong enough to not have to worry about the scarecrows.

This Quest is good for the Karana faction but the best way to raise that faction is to do the Gnoll Fang quest for the captain whats-his-name in South Qeynos. After that, then try to get Chandra to make the bear skin cloak.
Gnoll fang quest has a major downside, though. It destroys your dark factions and there are several dark faction NPCs wandering around above ground in Qeynos and you will quickly become KOS to them and once they attack you, if any guard, either good or corrupt, sees you fighting, it's all over for you because they will all pile on until you die.

Check the posts on the gnoll fang quest for more info about off-setting the bad faction hit with the fangs. You can give the light stones to Mcneal to rise your faction with the evils. He even buys you a few brews for your trouble.

Hey I tryed this quest with my Barbarian War and got nothing and wasted a HQ pelt but keep doing the quest that's posted at the top and you'll get there blieve me i done it with my Lv 20 human cleric .

i was working on my tailoring in wk when i set down to med in the scarecrow field. Cleet Miller was close by and i saw a message that he was gathering hay. He dropped the sack of hay right next to me.

Is this the same sack of hay needed for the scarecrow quest from Rivervale? does this not lead to haveing to go to other places including erudite lands to get compoinents and info on How to MAKE the Scarecrows?

Yep. The sack of hay you give to Henina Miller is the same sack of hay you can take to the Feerrott to have blessed/cursed by Roror for the Shakey quest. (Note that when Roror is done the sack of hay will now look like a mail pouch in your inventory.)

I've travelled the Miller fields for 2 yrs, and the scarecrows in the fields always con ready to attack, but no matter what level I have been, and even when i am killing another, they just go about their way, ignoring me. I was surprised (pleasantly) when I was fighting one as a 16th level druidess, and another just loped bye, and ignored the batte 8).

Yeah, theres a few monsters like that, check the scorpions in field of bone in iksar newbie zone, they say A heartsting scorpion scowls at you ready to attack! ... yet they never attack unless you attack them. They dont help each other either! :)

i was KOS with tiny and the rest of the clan (cept Hetina, she was dub)
i give her one hay bag and bam! not kos. now i can hunt the scarecrows without tiny having me for dinner
didnt pay attention to the XP cause i was too busy running for the plowed feilds.

Chandra Miller near the entrance to Surefall sells bear-hide armor, but she didn't trust my barbarian shaman enough to make the items. She said that helping her parents on their farm would earn her trust. I guess this quest isn't so useless after all.

Faction is still a question, I am a dark elf enchantress who worships Innoruuk and I just turned in 16 bandit sashes to that Ches fellow in The Thunder temple, which by the way shot me up to dubious to the guards, without illusions!
I'm now going to take a blankie out to one o these Karana residents, hopefully I can raise faction enough to get me some bear hide boots!
The wench is dubious to me and won't budge with a benevelance, that's 3 pelts and 45gp down the drain so far!
The belt was easy, minor illusion worked, because I was indifferent, but this wench is picky!!! I need at least amiable to get the boots, I just know it. Look out bandits, becuase here I come again!

Actually, you can get the boots with aprehenisve faction, it's the cape you need amiable (I belive) or better. My high elf mage is aprehensive to her and she still gave me the boots.
