The revised version of this task replaced the older version of this task plus the separate sub-tasks to kill each mob.

Spirit Hunter Elijo may be found at -285, +1685.

You say, 'Hail, Spirit Hunter Elijo'

Spirit Hunter Elijo says 'Shhh. The spirits are listening! What I am about to say can only be said in a whisper. Lean in close if you want to [know] what looms beyond the edge of this camp.'

You say, 'I want to know.'

Spirit Hunter Elijo says 'The other individuals at this camp came to be here as the result of various magical accidents. My son Azmaro and I are the only ones who arrived deliberately, by sheer force of will. For many days we tracked a spirit through a blizzard in Everfrost. When the spirit learned that our resolve could not be shaken, it fled here and we followed. We are among the few who understand the spirits of this isle! They possess [great power].'

You say, 'Great power?'

Spirit Hunter Elijo says 'The power of a spirit is destructive but is not meant to harm. It is meant as a test. If you are able to survive the test, a piece of the spirit's power becomes yours. That is why they are here with us on this island. They are meant as a challenge! Only a hunter of unsurpassed strength will be able to survive an encounter with these spirits and learn the secrets of this island. We are recovering from our latest hunt but you may carry on the struggle, if you are [ready] to depart.'

You say, 'I am ready.'

Spirit Hunter Elijo says 'Excellent. I suggest you gather a group of capable adventurers and set out with dawn's first light. Let the hunt begin.'

You have been assigned the task 'Mark of the Spirits'.

I used to have this quest in my quest list, I had completed 3 of the marks with two left. Somehow my quest was gone, then when i tried to get it again it would not give it to me. At the end of our group, it did turn up in my quest list, but it looked like I never did any of the quest at all. Elijo would not take the one mark that i did loot...has anyone ever had this problem with this quest before? I am curious to know if the reason he would not take the mark i did decide to loot, was because it was one that I already turned in from the parts of the quest I had already done. I think i will send sony a questions in game as well pertaining to this.

Just did this quest last night for my 62 SK...Had a 76 Beast(Tanking) 70 cleric, 75 cleric, 75 druid, 72 ench, 74 ench. I camped my 74 ench up on bridge by where Stillwillow, the Storm's Eye is. Then went and killed the other mobs with SK and others. The only ones that gave us any real trouble was the Undead (keep producing adds) and Stillwillow, the Storm's Eye. Using the 74 ench we mezzed the North wind for the entire fight while beating on Kill Sundersky, Sire of Storms. He has a crap load of hitpoints and drained 70 Cleric of mana and 3/4 of 75 clerics mana, all of the Druids and Beastlords mana as well. Took approximately 10 min to kill SIre and like 1 min to kill north wind. Other than we couldn't slow him (resisted every time) he wasn't a hard mob but took forever to kill. The only down side is that the cloak is REQ level 65, so i have 3 levels to go before i can even use it.

    # Jan 18 2007 at 11:31 AM Rating: Decent
The required quest items list above does not include the Mark of Stillwillow. It needs to be added.

The quest now has 5 parts:

Earn the Mark of Okahn and give it to Spirit Hunter Elijo
Earn the Mark of Ravenglass and give it to Spirit Hunter Elijo
Earn the Mark of Stillwillow and give it to Spirit Hunter Elijo
Earn the Mark of Xanzerok and give it to Spirit Hunter Elijo
Earn the Mark of Oroshar and give it to Spirit Hunter Elijo

As you can see there are 5 collect/turn in tasks now instead of kill tasks.
All 5 are easily one groupable at level 75.

Can one group get the cloak for all members (without having to repeat it) or is only one person allowed to get it?

You have to get the cloak for every group member.
Every named drops the quest item about 3 times though, so in a group of 6 people You only need to kill each named twice.

Did this just now; completed the exploration quest from Azmaro and went through the text for this task. Did not receive anything in my inventory or on my cursor. However I am shrouded....I doubt that has anything to do with it but I'll try getting the task again with no shroud and see if it changes.
Level to Get Task Higher Then Required Level
    # May 16 2006 at 5:50 AM Rating: Decent
The required level on the cloak is level 58, however my alt enchanter, who is 58, gets the "No tasks for someone of your ability" text when she tries to get the quest. Which is just plain dumb - if she can equip it, she should be able to get the task for it! Guess I'll be checking back with the quest mob every time she dings until he coughs up the task, so she can hand in the set of marks she has already collected. /bonk Sony!

The cloak I have has a recomended level of 65 and no required level listed on it. Maybe the one you saw had an augment that had a required level of 58.

As for getting the quest, I have had no luck with a level 55, but I will keep trying each level.

Note: Quote from another post "Before being able to catch the tasks, he told me, that he hasnt anything for a person with my abilities. After telling him, that I am ready anyway, he AGAIN offered me all FIVE tasks..."

..So maybe you can get the quest at a lower level. /shrug

We killed Sundersky, Sire of Storms by single pulling baby storms until we had knocked Sundersky down to 40% HP before we pulled Sundersky. I was puller (66 Monk). The two remaining baby storms could not be pulled easily without getting Sundersky or other adds. We did not have very good DPS in our group so the fight took quite a long time. At 40% hp Sundersky did not hit very hard. I understand that he loses his DPS as he loses HP. You can tank him with a fairly average tank if you pull the baby storms as we did.

    Just finished this.

    Really easy quest.

Xanzerok, Okahn, Oroshar and Sundersky really easy. Did with 3 toons:
    warrior: 15.5k hp 2.8k ac buffed 34% shielding 45 avoidance. 750AA
    clr: 10k mana 750AA
lvl 66 rouge with some AA so not really good dps lol

Battle was long (15-20mins) but clr stayed on 80-90m. always.

Only hard hit is the undead, need really good dps on it, we killed but wiped on adds, np we ran back and looted marks

We have single grouped this mission.
Sundersky, the sire of Storms is only tough because of his HPS. Kill the storms that pop with him and he looses about 20% when each one dies. I am playing a level 70 warrior with less than Time gear. Just need a good healer and some DPS to kill the smaller storms. I tank Sundersky, the sire of Storms while the ranger tanks the adds and the group kills. each kill takes off 20% life off the neamed. Hope this helps.

This is right out of the QUEST LOG. Its this simple. 6 tasks total, 5 kill/destroy the mob tasks and 1 earn the marks and turn them in task as of 9 April 2006. Here they are:

1.Okan, The Hound of Druzzil: Destroy Okan the hound of Druzzil
    2. Oroshar, The Ash Caster: Destroy Oroshar ...
    3. Ravenglass, the Undying: destroy Ravenglass ...
    4. Stillwillow, the Storms Eye: Defeat Sundersky, the sire of Storms.
    5. Xanzerok, the Earth Root: Destroy Xanzerok ...
    6. Mark of the Spirits: earn the mark of ...

The short and long of it, its been nerfed now. you have to work your tail off to get the cloak now. All who do this now will suffer being left to the RNG for 1 of 3 marks per kill per mob etc.

Yea SONY sucks. Reward thos who can afford it early fast and easy, crap on everyone else. So typical.

One group can get cloaks for everybody by killing each mob twice. By the time you've killed all of them once they should have already started respawning, and there's no trash clearing to speak of (maybe 2 mobs to get a clean pull on Xanzerok and some swear clearing fallen spirits reduces adds on Ravenglass but I haven't seen it myself).

would like to add , that if you already have the task before sony did the last update patch you will still recieve the mark in your inv. and will still have 3 marks on the mobs corpse. also stillwillow the last name most end up doing up by the third bridge is harder now and will take some time to kill. just had a grp and 1/2 beat on him for 20 mins to kill him. and tank was anguish flagged so they nerfed it bad. would also like to know if any 1 knows what the lvl is to get this task we had some 1 in our guild at lvl 59 try to get this but couldnt get it.
    Old tasks v. New task
    # Mar 24 2006 at 8:11 AM Rating: Decent
So for those of you who may have started this quest when it first came out but didn't have a chance to finish before they changed it.......even though the named only DROPS 3 marks you will get an automatic update in your inventory still!! The only mob I had not killed was Stillwillow before the change. I assisted in his kill expecting to have to roll on the Mark and to my surprise when he died I got an update!! So take that for what it is worth.

Nice they changed it to one task as people were not getting all 6 previously and complaining when they did not get an update.
RE: Old tasks v. New task

Sorry for the delay, but I got the Mark in my inventory, an update for the kill, then had to turn in the Mark for the cloak update.
RE: Old tasks v. New task
    # Mar 24 2006 at 11:17 AM Rating: Decent
Did you just get a task update or did you get a mark in your inventory, too? If you still need to turn in the 5 marks to Elijo to get the cloak, the task update doesn't do much good without the actual mark in your possession.
RE: Old tasks v. New task
    # Mar 26 2006 at 12:10 AM Rating: Decent
You still have to turn in your mark to update the cloak quest, the old quests just automatically give you a mark when you kill one of the spirits you have to hunt.

Rundown on the mobs for this quest:

Okahn, Hound of Druzzil - facing out from the Spirit Hunters' camp head north toward the edge of the isle, where the spirit wolves are. You'll spot Okahn's briar patch; move around behind it to the base of the hills edging the isle.
Okahn is two stages; during the first stage he's virtually immune to spells. Very likely that you will be tanking him unslowed for this stage and a couple of high melee dps classes are recommended to get him past this stage asap. At about 10% there's an emote about him becoming ethereal, he completely heals at this point and after this spells will land but melee damage on him is reduced. Second half is much easier than first because it will be much easier to slow him then. Okahn also AEs a slow/dot and occasionally single target fears (doesnt seem to fear very often).

Oroshar the Ashcaster - have to kill Skysmoke, Harbinger of Oroshar to spawn him. Skysmoke roams the firetail area across the first bridge from the zone in camp. Skysmoke is a pretty straight-up fight, kill him and Oroshar pops from the corpse. Oroshar AEs a modest dot and spawns firetail emberlings (can mez or kill add spawns, theyre the same as the ones regular firetails summon, pretty gimp). Once Oroshar dies an indifferent mob spawns from his corpse, dont have any idea what if anything this mob is for, just leave it alone and it despawns pretty quickly.

Manifestation of Ravenglass - Ravenglass's tree is sort of between Okahn and the big tower in the middle of the zone. Clear a fight spot out, pull Ravenglass. He'll summon spirits throughout the fight, can mez but recommend having dps just kill spirits as they spawn as there will be several by the end. Don't know if clearing spirits before pulling Ravenglass prevents him from summoning adds or not.

Xanzerok, the Earth Root - follow the east side of the isle from Ravenglass' spot, Xanzerok's area is pretty close. Best place to set up camp is south of the vine area, can get Xanzerok with minimal trash killing there. Clear enough to pull Xanzerok when he reaches the south end of his route, pull and kill. He AEs a fairly short-duration root but does it often, can be frustrating for a warrior tank because he easily gets pushed OOR while the tank is rooted and can cause aggro problems. Occasionally resisted the root with 300+ MR, but not enough to make much difference. Resisted every time with Infusion up though (525 MR).

Sundersky, Sire of Storms - from firetails go past the Master of the Herd's area and move to the last bridge leading up to portal. You'll pass Sundersky just before this last bridge. When Sundersky is aggroed 4 Blizzards will spawn, one will most likely add to pull. Most kill the add and then fight Sundersky, he's a good half hour fight for a single group, lots of hp, ton of mitigation, and high resists. Noticed when the add died that he lost a good portion of hp at once though (from about 80% to low 60s). Idea might be to offtank Sundersky while killing all 4 Blizzards, his power might be tied to them. If not aggroed quickly the Blizzards despawn however, by the time we figured this out the others had depopped so we had to fight Sundersky for another 20 minutes. Sundersky also AEs a 1200ish DD/slow, it's not nearly as high % as Okahn's slow AE. - update - Read in another post that killing Sundersky's adds (the 4 Blizzards) does damage him.

Overall I'd rate Oroshar and Xanzerok the easiest, Okahn is fairly easy as well if you bring a couple of high melee dps to burn through the first stage. None are particularly hard if done right.

EDIT - fixed directions on getting to Okahn from camp. Also found posted where killing Sundersky's adds does drop his hp.

Can anyone verify if killing Okahn, Hound of Druzzil, Manifestation of Ravenglass, Xanzerok, the Earth Root, and Sundersky, Sire of Storms has anything to do with Mark of the Spirits quest/task to get the Cloak of the Spirit Hunter?

I've killed Oroshar and all things spawning after with ease trying to farm a mark of battle, killed it dozens of times and pretty quickly.

Yes they drop mark, 3 per kill, you need to loot one and turn in to the npc Hunter that gave you the task. When all the marks are turned in you get the first unevolved cloak and more items to complete in your task to evlove the cloak, hope that helped some.

One big change to this quest. Initially when the expansion came out, killing each elemental spirit gave everyone in the raid a spirit mark you need to turn back in to Spirit Hunter Elijo. Since the last patch, each spirit only drops 3 spirit marks. So, theoretically, only 3 people each from the raid can get this cloak, less if you random each mark separately.

Since you need about 2-3 regular groups minimum to kill these mob safely, you will need to kill each spirits several times over for everyone to get the cloak. FYI.

2-3 groups? pshaw ... none of these take more than 4 people. The only time I raided up to kill these was tohelp guildies get credit for the kills.

I'm not talking End game raiding ubers; I'm talking about non-raiding family guild groups. Completely geared in single group gear. All lvl 70; well geared casuals to be sure but no high end raid gear.

It was always so sad to watch the pickup raids with 3-4 groups wiping on these mobs...

Okhan was killed by 3, cleric, ranger, necro; single pulled directly behind it's spawn point (harmonied the wolves out front)

We did Sundersky with 5: cleric, shaman, sk, bard, and tanked it for an extra 10+ minutes hoping to have our LD person log back on (for a total kill time of about 25 minutes). Fastest kill was about 10-12 minutes, full group.

Oroshar is easy unless you try and mez the adds or forget to heal the AE. I think that the AE dot is a splurt type effect (ie, it increases in damage) and since it lands so often it usually appears to be minor until after the drake is dead.

Xanzerok is annoying, have always had a full group for him, since I hate being rooted.

Ravenglass isn't all that tough either, as long as you clear a goed amount of the undead first; it seems that he doesn't spawn adds, he calls them to him.

These guys are all fairly easy to kill if you use the poroper tactics. Only one I have had issues with is Ravenglass. His adds are a bloody pain.

Strats that I use are as follows:

Sundersky: pulling is easy solo. dont bother with the adds it will take just as long to kill him if you kill the adds first. Puller Needs levitation. Run up the mountain on the Master of the herds canyon and float over to platform on Sundersky's island, When you're ready to pull, pump an arrow into him and immediatly step off and run towards the mountain without looking down or you will zone to EFP. Once back over land in the canyon, head down to the waiting cleric. Sundersky WILL be in tow and will be quite single. He hits like a gimp maybe 871 on a 13.6 2300 AC warrior. Just Damage shield up and beat him down. be prepared for about a 40 minute fight. By the time tank needs another heal cleric will have generated enough mana back that he should be close to 100% mana again. Be watchful though... at about 75% 50% and 25% he seems to get a lucky streak of hits for about a minute... then falls back to his normal gimpy self.

    Okhan, Hound of Druzzil:

Pop infusion, pull and beat on him. Use your DPS discs on the first stretch. Once he CH's, swap in a truncheon of doom. Slow him and then just beat him down.

    Xanzerok, the earthen root:

This guy is a PANSY! go all the way to the east side of the island and go past the first 2 statics spawns of the little roots, go over 2 hills and stop in the valley. wait for Xanzerok and pump and arrow into him. then immediatly run back along the side as far east as you can get and Xanzerok will follow and miss the adds aggro range. Pull him to where ever you want and beat on him. If you get to the point where he can hit you but you cant hit him. Pop him with a press the attack. This knocks him out of range too and he summons you back to where you can beat on him with no trouble. The root is no big deal... unlike the lesser ones it does NO damage, but does decrease ac and roots. Just keep the cleric beyond a 50 range or he will start popping rampages and hitting him as well. The rest is just a straight forward beat down and keeping him positioned not too close and not too far from the cleric.

    Skysmoke, Harbringer of Oroshar:

The first version of this guy is pathetic. Dont slow, just damage shield up and let him kill himself while you beat on him. Once Oroshar spawns, use a healing elixir on the cleric and blast away with DPS discs if they are up. Watch for the lil fellers and when they pop, immediatly use cyclone attack which makes them VERY mad at the tank. Switch to them and beat em dead. Cyclone attack WILL generate enough aggro so the cleric can pop a full CH with no aggro from all of them. kill lil fellers and back on big guy again full DPS.. Slow him if you want, but I prefer to DS up and let him kill himself. This makes for a quicker kill and less chance of adds. The more DPS he does to you, the more DPS he does to himself. Usually i get 2 spawns of lil fellers offa him. 2 the first then 4 the next. On second spawn, I hit area taunt and bandolier an edge of envelopment and hit furious and watch them destroy themselves while I am still beating on their boss. All 4 usually succumb to furious and no need to heal the tank other than a Hot and they dont draw squat for aggro. Remember to keep a watch on the clerics health and drink a HoT potion when needed
*optional pop intensity of the Resolute at the beginning of this fight and hand him his hinie FAST!

    Manifestation of ravenglass:

work in progress, I have not yet figured out how to 2 box this feller and deal with the adds. Tried fighting them on a bridge and PTA'ing them off the edge, but they run right back. Tried rooting and running, but ravenglass is SLOW. I am still working on this one.

    Tank was 687 aa's 13.6K hps 2336 ac
    Cleric was 129 aa's 7K mana 1671 ac

There are many people I have seen attempt to 2 box these without success. It isn't that I am a uber tank, I use every tactic at my disposal to dispose of these guys. My favorite is Sundersky. LONG fight.. HUGE long fight. But when he drops, there is a sense of satifaction and accompliment. I have seen people sitting in Arcstone for over an hour looking for a group to kill him. So i grab me trusty cleric, go kill the one they need and get back to what I was doin before. (unless it was that accursed Ravenglass)

    Update on the cloak
    # Mar 15 2006 at 6:13 PM Rating: Decent

This cloak isn't final after evolving is complete. Return to Spirit Hunter Elijo, with an unaugged, completely evolved cloak, and follow his scripting. On the last text your to type in. Don't type in cloak. You will get a nice upgrade =)

    250 hps/mana/end
additional 5 to all stats, and 10 to all resists,

as well as some cool stats...

To boot, the FE on this is now Faerune! Once servers are up I will post pic of final product upon thoroughly completing the quest.
    Missing the mark.

Side note....you get no mark if you are dead/not in zone when a spirit dies. Bind close by.

To try and save everyone the complete headache of reading all the replies and arguments, etc. that are below would just like to explain.

When the cloak quest was new, there were SIX tasks. One that encompassed the 5 hand ins of the marks to Spirit Hunter Elijo.

There were Five other tasks, each of which was to kill a certain named. When you kill said named, task was finished and you recieved mark in inventory. This allowed a whole group, even a whole raid to get the marks needed for their cloak.

Apparantly, Sony didn't like so many getting credit for one kill (possible even an out-of-group ranger could shoot a single arrow and get credit, never tested) so they made each named drop three and condensed the SIX tasks to just the turn in task for reward.

You actually complete 5 tasks to finish this task. They are" Okahn, the Hound of Druzzil", "Xanzerok, the Earth Root", "Ravenglass, the Undying", "Oroshar, the Ash Caster", and "Stillwillow, the Storm's Eye". Finish those 5 tasks will finish this task, which will result in the evolving item.

    Almost.

It is actually 6 tasks: the 5 tasks Brundeel mentioned (one for each namer) and then one task requiring you to hand in each mark to Hunter Elijo.

Nope .. to be excactly, if we allready do so, its like that (finished it yesterday):

There ARE 5 tasks, as mentioned from brundeel. This 5 tasks call as follow: KILL the named (see above) AND RETURN the mark you get through this kill to Hunter Elijo.
So there is no 6th task.

    6 total
One task per named kill (5 total)
One task for handing in the marks. (1 total)
    5 + 1 = 6

Last task is nothing more then hail for task and hand items in from the previous 5 tasks.

    Again .. NO
The Task "Mask of the Spirits" includes 5 Subtasks. These 5 tasks call as described above. KILL AND BRING BACK the mark. There is NO seperate task to give any mark!!!
E.g.: Kill Okahn, the Hound of Druzzil AND hand in the mark of xxx to Hunter Elijo.
If you kill Okahn, your task WONT be completed!!! You JUST get an update! As soon as the mark has been given to Hunter, ONE of the FIVE tasks is completed! As soon as ALL FIVE tasks (mean kill and bring mark) are completed, you will AUTOMATICALLY retrieve the cloak as reward from Elijo.
And thats the final point ..

Reread my post. I said one per KILL, NOT HAND IN. Hand in is final task. First 5 are to kill ONLY. You have to hail and accept 6 (SIX) tasks total.

    1. Okahn, the Hound of Druzzil
    --Kill Okahn
    --reward: Mark of Okahn

    2. Oroshar, the Ash Caster
    --Kill Oroshar
    --reward: Mark of Oroshar

    3. Ravenglass, the Undying
    --Kill Ravenglass
    --reward: Mark of Ravenglass

    4. Stillwillow, the Storm's Eye
    --Kill Sundersky, Sire of Storms
    --reward: Mark of Stillwillow

    5. Xanzerok, the Earth Root
    --Kill Xanzerok
    --reward: Mark of Xanzerok

    6. Mark of the Spirits
--TURN IN the five spirit marks
    ----Mark of Okahn
    ----Mark of Oroshar
    ----Mark of Ravenglass
    ----Mark of Stillwillow
    ----Mark of Xanzerok
---reward: Cloak of the Spirit Tracker

I stand by my original post. And that's the final point

It's 6 Tasks - you need to have the task for the named to get the mark - 5 marks - then there is the task for the hand-in's... therefore 6 tasks

There were 6 tasks... shut up and face the fact that you're wrong. No bug that made you only have 5 tasks out of all the goddam people that play this game. And learn how to fuggin spell for christ's sake.
#Firecobra, Posted: Mar 27 2006 at 2:39 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) As Sony finally changed the questform, its useless to save anything more what had been .. but to you little boy.
#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 06 2006 at 4:00 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Once again, get a goddamn dictionary and learn how to spell. You're only pissed off and feel you need to belittle me because you were wrong the whole time and that is why you want the discussion deleted. I dont care what you say I was right the entire time and you're an idiot so shut up and go argue some other point and make absolutely no sense while trying to do it just like you did here.

You know what, I'm sorry for putting you down. I "have definitly" a problem. I think it stems from the fact that I know how to spell and talk in complete sentences. I am so ashamed. Please, Alla, please "delate" my posts, I am a monster and deserve to have my posts "delated".
