 Roanis Elindar will reward you with the Duennan Shielding Ring if you bring him a Carmine Spiroc Feather, a Blood Sky Amethyst, and a Golden Efreeti Ring.

Carmine Spiroc Feather is a common drop from most Spirocs on Isle 5.

Blood Sky Amethyst is an uncommon drop from bees on Isle 6.

Golden Efreeti Ring is a rare drop from Sister of the Spire on Isle 7, and is NO DROP.

Once you have all three items, spawn Roanis Elindar by speaking to Magus Frinon in the quest hall in the Plane of Sky. To access the quest hall, purchase a Key of Veeshan from the Keymaster on Isle 1. Place the key on your cursor and click on the North teleporter pad. Once you have ported into the quest hall, there is no direct way to return to the first island except by jumping off and porting back up.

You say, 'Hail, Magus Frinon'

Magus Frinon says 'Greetings, _____. Have you come here to test your abilities as a magician?'

You say, 'I have come to test my abilities.'

Magus Frinon says 'I am glad to hear that. Please choose from one of my instructors. Frederic or Roanis.'

You say, 'I choose Roanis'

Magus Frinon says 'Roanis it shall be. Take this book and read it. When you are finished, hand it back to me and I shall summon the magician Roanis to test you.'

He gives you a tome with some ramblings about how magicians alter matter to create items. Read it if you like, and then hand it back to him. He'll despawn, and Roanis Elindar will appear in his place.

Magus Frinon says 'Farewell.'

Roanis Elindar says 'I am here to do your bidding, Magician Spirit!'

Magus Frinon says 'Till next time! Farewell!'

You say, 'Hail, Roanis Elindar'

Roanis Elindar says 'Welcome, Niden. I am Magus Roanis. Do you wish to test your powers?'

You say, 'I wish to test my powers.'

Roanis Elindar says 'Great, let us waste no more time! I offer to you four challenges. Summoning, interpretation, gesticulation, and displacement.
Please choose one of these.'

You say, 'I choose Interpretation.'

Roanis Elindar says 'Interpretation it is. Proceed upward through the sky and return to me a carmine spiroc feather, a blood sky amethyst, and a golden efreeti ring. This will prove your abilities to me and I will reward you with the Duennan Shielding Ring.'

Roanis Elindar says 'The ring of Duennan will protect you in times of trouble, mage. Take it and wear it with pride.'

The ring is AC 4, Wis 5, Int 5, Mana 30, and has a single charge of Harmshield. It can be recharged by combining it with a Mana Battery - Class Five in a Box of the Void, both obtained from the Key Master on Isle 1.

Yeah, one of the most useful Mage items I've seen: shame it's such a pain to get, but 18-second invulnerability for 50pp a cast is a pretty good deal for a class that doesn't get any defensive spells themselves.
