This mission begins with Alchemist Bauer inside the Jade Inn in West Freeport, at -285, -535, -68.

You say, 'Hail, Alchemist Bauer'

Alchemist Bauer says 'Oh my sweet [Leesa]! Why didn't you just give him what his black heart wanted! Why did he take you from me?'

You say, 'Who is Leesa?'

Alchemist Bauer says 'Oh, my dear Leesa! My wife, Leesa, has been missing for several years now. I refuse to give up hope but after all these years it's hard to hold on. She was a Seeker of Ro who crossed a dark hearted wizard named Mithious. I've never stopped searching for her, or for some sign. Would you like to [help] me search?'

You say, 'I will help you search.'

Alchemist Bauer says 'If you would like to help me search for my wife you could start with a priest in the Temple of Solusek Ro named Torzan Searfire. Speak with him about your search and he may be able to point you in the right direction. I've tried to keep in contact with him but that vile wizard who has taken my wife from me continues to [hunt] me. Please speak with Torzan Searfire for me and tell him Alchemist Bauer sent you, and please return if you find anything. I can't say any more about this, it's too painful. Take this locket. It belonged to my wife and I pray it will bring you luck in your search.'

You receive A Seeker Pendant (identifies as "The sacred pendant given only to Seekers of Ro").

You have been assigned the task 'Investigate a disappearance'.

You say, 'Hunt you?'

Alchemist Bauer says 'Who knows what motivates a man like that? He must know that I hate him for what he has done. Perhaps he simply feels it will be tidier to remove the husband as he removed the wife. I am not without talents myself but I cannot stand before a wizard of his power and survive. And so I must continue to flee, even while continuing my search.'

Head to the Temple of Solusek Ro and find Torzan Searfire at +485, -75.

You say, 'Hail, Torzan Searfire'

Torzan Searfire says 'What's that? Alchemist Bauer sent you, you say? Well you have set your feet on a sad path indeed my friend. All in this temple thought very highly of Seeker Leesa and we were all distraught when she vanished. Would you hear the [tale]?'

Your task 'Investigate a disappearance' has been updated.

You say, 'What tale?'

Torzan Searfire says 'Leesa was a young and beautiful Seeker in our temple. She was in love with a brilliant alchemist named Bauer, but of course you already know that, ______. She and Bauer befriended a young wizard named Mithious. The three of them were fast friends and all seemed well for a time. But it wasn't too long before Mithious began to show his true nature. You see, Mithious, as it turns out, loves power more than any mortal or god. His kind exterior masks a heart as dark as they come. Mithious styles himself the next Al'Kabor and has been relentlessly delving into the secrets of teleportation and dark and vile magic.'

Torzan Searfire says 'No one but Leesa knows for sure what caused the falling out between her and Mithious. Perhaps he wanted secrets of this temple that she refused to divulge. Or perhaps there was a simpler explanation. Perhaps Mithious fancied himself in love with Leesa, and it may be she spurned him. All we do know is that Leesa was last seen with Mithious when she vanished. We seek him still but he is crafty and has eluded us these many years. If you would continue your search for the heart of this mystery perhaps you should seek out some of Mithious' [research partners] for clues.'

You say, 'What research partners?'

Torzan Searfire says 'My good friend, Jane Planesummoner, was working extensively with Mithious a few years ago. She told me he had an almost unnatural interest in how a mage is able to summon ethereal creatures and bind them to the mage's will. Despite the fact that he was himself a wizard, he seemed to think that he could learn to augment his wizardly summons and infuse some of the mage's special magic into a spell or spells he was trying to concoct. You should go speak with Jane, and give her this note as way of introduction.'

You receive A Letter of Introduction (identifies as "A letter of introduction to Jane Planesummoner").

Head to Jane Planesummoner in South Qeynos, at +250, -345. Give her the letter.

Jane Planesummoner says 'Why are you interrupting my studies? I don't know this 'Torzan' and I don't know you! Return this note to the sender, whoever he is. Now leave me in peace. Go!'

You receive A Letter of Introduction (identifies as "A slightly crumpled letter of introduction").

Your task 'Investigate a disappearance' has been updated.

Head back to Torzan and give him the crumpled letter.

Torzan Searfire says 'She said what? She doesn't know me? But that's . . . That's impossible, we've known each other for years! Something is wrong, something that no doubt revolves around our 'friend' Mithious. If she is under an enchantment, how can we break it? She obviously won't cooperate based on what you just told me, so. . .Ah I have just the thing. Take this container and place inside it the following items -- A spell scroll for Nullify Magic, one enchanted platinum bar and the blood from a [Resismus]. Together they will form an Enchanted Nugget that I can use to craft an item that will free Jane from whatever enchantment or spell Mithious may have used.'

Your task 'Investigate a disappearance' has been updated.

You say, 'What is a Resismus?'

Torzan Searfire says 'A Resismus? It is a fearsome and powerful creature whose blood has unique magical properties. You may not realize it but each spell scroll used and memorized by any magic user has invested in it a small amount of the magic the incantation creates. Normally this trace is impossible to capture but when soaked in the blood of a Resismus the magic contained in the scroll will leach out into nearby items. In this case it will infuse itself into the enchanted platinum bar you will put in with the scroll. I have heard that this beast has been sighted in the Dreadlands near the Combine relics. Seek out Loremaster Yoakum in the Dreadlands to learn of the beast's location.'

You receive Torzan's Pouch of Combination (no special item lore), a 4-slot SMALL container.

Head to the Dreadlands and find Loremaster Yoakum at +500, +9630, outside one of the giant pyramids in the secret valley.

You say, 'Hail, Loremaster Yoakum'

Loremaster Yoakum says 'Ah, I see you are the one Torzan asked me to watch for. You have come seeking the beast and you will find him within these walls. Torzan may not have told you everything of importance regarding the Resismus, but I will do so now before you face it. The Resismus is almost impossible to find if it wishes to remain hidden. If you explore the chamber behind me now you would almost certainly find nothing, unless you are more discerning than I expect.'

Loremaster Yoakum says 'Fear not, however, for I can flush the beast when you are prepared. Beware of the beast's claws and teeth but also remember always that this is a creature of deep and powerful magic - expect the unexpected! When you are [ready] tell me and I will flush the beast for you. Remember that I cannot assist you with your fight. My role is an observer and, besides, I've never been skilled in combative magic.'

You say, 'I am ready.'

Your task 'Investigate a disappearance' has been updated.

An "Enraged Resismus" spawns (level? fight info?). Kill it and loot Blood from a Resismus (identifies as "This blood pulses witn an inner magic").

Your task 'Investigate a disappearance' has been updated.

Combine the Blood from a Resismus, an Enchanted Platinum Bar, and a storebought Spell: Nullify Magic scroll in Torzan's Pouch of Combination to craft an Enchanted Nugget (identifies as "A deformed chunk of metal infused with power"). Head back to Torzan and give this to him.

Torzan Searfire says 'Ah, yes, this is exactly right! Well done indeed! Was the beast as potent as we feared? Well obviously you proved to be more than a match for it. Just give me a moment to complete the charm now that you have provided me with the final and crucial ingredient.'

You receive Torzan's Dispelling Ring (identifies as "A powerful counter to any persistent enchantment").

Torzan Searfire says 'Done! This should overwhelm any magical blocks that exist on any that wear it. Give this to Jane and report to me what you find. If she is as hostile as you say it might prove tricky but as long as she holds the ring for a moment it should do its work. If this doesn't work. . .I don't know what might be amiss with my friend.'

Your task 'Investigate a disappearance' has been updated.

Go to Jane Planesummoner and give her the ring.

Your task 'Investigate a disappearance' has been updated.

Jane Planesummoner says 'I. . .I can't believe it! That foul, evil wizard did that to me! Thank you so much for your assistance. Everything is returning to me now. For so long it was as if I lived in a fog. But I forget myself. If I remember your previous note correctly you wanted to learn what research Mithious and I had been working on. Let me give you this volume, it should prove valuable to you in your search. I never fully trusted Mithious, and with cause it turns out, so I hid my notes in this chest. He does not know of this book's existence, and it should aid you in your search. Please give my thanks to Torzan as well. Good day to you!'

You receive Jane Planesummoner's Research Notes (identifies as "A secret account of the research of Mithoius Scratch"). Give these to Torzan.

Torzan Searfire says 'So the ring worked, did it! Excellent, excellent, that really is wonderful news. Now let me examine this book that you have brought to me for a moment.'

A Seeker Pendant is removed from your inventory, to be replaced by A Glowing Seeker Pendant (identifies as "The sacred pendant given only to Seekers of Ro").

Torzan Searfire says 'Of course! This explains much. The day that Leesa vanished our elders had detected a strange surge of magical energy. The exact spell used was unknown to us at the time as we have never felt magic quite like that before. This tome, however, hints at what it may have been. Mithious was desperate to learn how a mage is able to summon a powerful creature to their side and bind it to their will. Obviously, as a wizard, he could never fully master that ability. But it appears he may have learned how to fuse a small wisp of a mage's magic into a spell he constructed to create an unbreakable prison. The [implications]!'

You say, 'What implications?'

Seeker Leesa's Pendant begins to glow. You must be getting closer to your goal.

Your task 'Investigate a disappearance' has been updated.

You receive Jane Planesummoner's Research Notes back.

Torzan Searfire says 'Don't you realize what this means? Leesa may be alive, after all! Maybe I'm being a hopeful old fool, but if I'm right about what this means. . .you must take this at once to one of our eldest. Seek out Tazgar and give him this tome. Be aware that he can be very caustic, so approach him with care. Leesa was one of his favorite acolytes, and I think he blames himself for what happened to her. Somehow he thinks he should have done more to protect her. But if you give him this volume I think he'll realize at once what it may mean. I wish you good fortune in your quest. You have already shed more light on this sad mystery than I had thought possible.'

Find Tazgar, an efreet in the deepest part of the temple behind a fake door. The door looks like a wooden cabinet against the wall at +535, +5. When clicked, it slides to one side. The wall behind it is fake. Walk through it and proceed down several flights of stairs to Tazgar. IMPORTANT: Do not hail him (big faction hit). Give him the notes.

Tazgar says 'What do you want! I don't have time for. . .wait, what's this! Unbelievable! Can this be true? I see Torzan's mark on this tome or I would brand it a fake and have you killed on the spot. Oh that black-hearted wizard Mithious, now we have even more reason to seek you out. But first we must determine if our slim hope may be true. Thank you for obtaining this. Will you continue to [help] us?'

You receive a Sphere of Dimensional Rifts (identifies as "The sphere glows faintly with hidden power").

Your task 'Investigate a disappearance' has been updated.

You say, 'I will continue to help you.'

Tazgar says 'From the hints in this tome, it is clear that Mithious was looking for ways to pervert Combine magic with a bizarre variation on the magic that a mage uses to summon a companion. Although he couldn't control the creature he would summon he did seem to have discovered a way to trap it in a place between worlds. At the same time it seems he's able to trap another person. Long have I pondered on the magical surge of energy we felt that day so many years ago and although I was not able to divine the source of the incantation I have crafted this imbued stone that should prove to be a suitable counter. Take this stone and when you have found the location you seek it will unravel the prison that Mithious constructed. Then we will see if my hopes for Leesa come to be true or if we will have to face that which I fear most about her fate. Go, and return when you know more.'

Bring a raid and head back to the Dreadlands, near the small spire (/loc?), east of Klok F`tshai. Make sure to bring the Sphere of Dimensional Rifts and A Glowing Seeker Pendant with you. Equip the sphere. After a few moments, A Trapped Spirit (exact in-game name and level?) will spawn in the middle of the spire. Give the Sphere of Dimensional Rifts to the spirit, which will spawn a Furious Jailor, a level 71-72 undead mob that procs Jailor's Fury and Knockback, rampages, enrages at 9%, and hits for up to 2.5k. Burn it down and loot one "{Item} of Dimensional Imprisonment."

Once it's dead, Seeker Leesa will spawn (/loc?). Give her the glowing seeker pendant, and receive A Radiant Seeker Pendant (identifies as "The sacred pendant given only to Seekers of Ro").

Seeker Leesa says "Thank you, Niissa, thank you so much! I had lost hope that my prison would ever be breached. I cannot thank you enough for what you have done. I know this is a poor reward for all you must have gone through to reach this point but here is my locket back. Please return it to the temple and show it to my mentor, Tazgar, so that he may know I live. Now I must rejoin my husband. I know he must have missed me as much as I longed for him."

She gates after you make your trade in and quest is updated.

Head back to Tazgar and give him the radiant seeker pendant to receive a Blessed Seeker Pendant .

Tazgar says "So, she has returned to us from the darkness! You have done well indeed Niissa. Here is a token of this temple's appreciation for your efforts. From this day forward, you will be an honored guest in these halls."

Looking at the quest entry date and the entry date of a majority of the quest items and the rewarded items, they point to a release late into the Depths of Darkhollow expansion. So it either will release then or in Prophecy of Ro. Let me know which one it releases in and we'll get the expansion tags changed for everything.

Small spires in Dreadlands where the Trapped Spirit spawns, loc is +770, +8740. Didn't have the sphere equipped to see him spawn.

Trapped Spirit says 'Free me! You have the means, I can sense it! I demand you free me! Give me that stone!'

Give the stone, spawns Furious Jailor, raid mob and undead apparently (about half as tall as the spires, big dude).

Furious Jailor says, And now I take my revenge for my imprisonment! Die!'

Once dead, Seeker Leesa spawns (loc 810, 8750, at the base of one of the spires just a hail away). Upon hail:

Seeker Leesa says, The fresh air feels so good on my face after all these years. I can't believe my prison was breached at long last!'

Give pendant to Leesa:

Seeker Leesa says, 'Thank you, _____, thank you so much! I had lost hope my prison would ever be breached. I cannot thank you enough for what you have done. I know this is a poor reward for all you must have gone through to reach this point but here is my locket back. Please return to the temple and show it to my master Tazgar so he may know that I live. Now I must rejoin my husband. I know he must have missed me as much as I longed for him.'

Get "Radiant Seeker Pendant", item lore is the same as the other pendants in the task. Give to Tazgar:

Tazgar says, 'So, she has returned to us from the darkness! You have done well indeed _____. Here is a token of this temple's appreciation for your efforts. From this day onward you will be an honored guest in these halls.'
Your faction standing with Temple Of Sol Ro has been adjusted by 100.
Your faction standing with Shadowed Men has been adjusted by -1.

(Side note [edit]: Tazgar now welcomes you if you hail him from now on. Tazgar says, 'Welcome, my friend. It is good to see you in our temple again. Please make yourself at home.')

Progression Server
# Jan 07 2007 at 2:49 PM Rating: Decent
I know this quest has been done on the progression servers because i have seen people wearing the shield and other items. From reading these posts though (not being in a heavy raiding guild myself) it seems like doing this on those servers would be pretty darn rough. On The Sleeper, for example, the #1 warrior on the leaderboards has around 7.5k hp. All these posts talk about tanks with 12k or so hp, so i'm wondering what kind of a force and what strategy is being used to complete this on the progression servers. I have no idea what era this quest is from (i have no idea when it became available on the progression servers) but im guessing it wasn't being done until people started to farm PoP gear. ?? I'm pretty inexperienced with this kind of stuff so i really have no idea. Any idea the lvls, numbers and gear it might take to get this done on a server where the max lvl is 65? =)

clickable door is actually a cabinet at pos 533, pos 7.5

go to the main hall, then up the lava and open the door between the 2 seekers. As soon as you open the door, it's in front of you in the hall. click it and walk through the fake wall.

As of June 19,2006:

Some notes to help others who want to do this quest.

My guild (Dawnfire, Nameless Server) has done this quest 4 successful times, after one defeat (2 attempts at same mob, all wipes that time).

Another guild was working him Sunday so I asked questions and confirmed some things and combined that info with what I know to tell you all this:

3-4 Clerics on our MT (13.5k HP, about 2200 AC) were able to keep him alive, and Druids/Shamans adding patch heals to him and to groups also helped make the 4 kills easy. We have killed him with as few as 20 (4 clerics), and as many as 26. The other guild (KoCF) was able to do similar with 4 successful kills on Sunday.

The Trapped Spirit is now a steady mob in the middle of the Luclin towers that are ON THE PYRAMID PLATFORM near the grass area, not the Luclin towers you can Wizzy port or Guild Lobby portal into Dreadlands. This is also the spawn point for the Furious Jailer. Anyone equipped with the Sphere will quickly get the text message from the TS to release her.

The Furious Jailer is Yellow to Level 70’s.

The Furious Jailer is an UNDEAD mob. Our Paladins (including me) were having a field day Cleansing the mob for 6-7k per. We often out-performed the Wizards regular nukes. Given the high HP’s this mob has, bring out your Paladins and their HOLYFORGE Disc, and your Necromancers & Shadowknights to help add much needed DPS to bring the FJ down. Holyforge has a 1 hour refresh time, but you can still get Cleanses without it.

Watch your pets push as it got tricky when the FJ was pushed up onto the towers/spires.

FJ Rampages and Enrages at 9% (nine percent) health.

It is good to have clearly defined MT, 2nd tank, and a 3rd tank just in case, as well as a Rampage tank.

The length of the fight is such that you will need to chain SLOW the mob also. Make sure your slowers know their timers so as to be ready to re-hit the FJ when slow expires. I did not see any messages about Necromancers slows hitting or being effective so I am unable to speak on that. It makes sense that it should though, considering FJ is undead.

Slowable by Shaman and Enchanters both.

The fight will take Warrior Defensive Disc and more to complete. Having a Warrior MT gives you several options to get and keep agro, and to help minimize the need for healing. As a Paladin, I am not saying a Paladin couldn’t tank this, but as a team effort, having the Warrior taking the punishment and keeping aggro frees the Paladins to be very effective in the DPS department. This is not meant to start the old debate – It is meant to say what I see and think about team play on this mob.

The person turning in may very likely die quickly, unless the MT pulls agro immediately off him. We chose to do a count-down to turn in, have MT grab agro and build it up before calling assist. MT had Divine Intervention cast on him (and I saw a few times its effect was used). We had the Melees mostly fight the FJ from his SIDES to minimize push. Rogues of course stayed on the back and flanks of FJ.

Just use patience and planning, be ready for a long fight (10 mins average out of 4 kills).

Good Hunting all.

Yes, you can do this task even if you have the necklace. Just turn in the piece to the spirit but don't go back to ToSR and leave your task to get back into the raid. Spawn him for the loots for guildees since he drops some decent items for guilds trying to gear up their peeps.

Don't know why one person should spawn this over and over again... and I don't think they can.

My guild used to farm it. We set up one day per week for this, made a separate chat channel for it, someone bought and handed out all the (enchanted) platinum bars and spells, someone who had done this already talked the people thru it and acted as groupleader/raidleader (rather than let those in task do it).

Hardest part seems to be to find Elder/Tazgar and give him the notes. (You turn in notes to Torzan, but many people forgets to tell him "implications" so he doesn't give them the notes back to take to the Elder. And to get to Tazgar, behind Torzan there's a door, then a small bridge, another door. In next room there's a hidden door behind a dresser, click on dresser and just go right thru wall, and follow steps down to Tazgar. Hailing him is said to reduce your faction, I never dared to try.)

When people were ready up to Resismus - which is very resistant against spells btw - we had a tank waiting in Dreadlands. Groupleader would have tank and maybe healer in group, invite first person (they will all be in different tasks), see to that he taskadded those in group (you need kill shot from someone in task, but don't worry, just talk to loremaster again if you didn't), and tell next person to be ready.

As soon as Resismus dropped, see to that person in task removes everyone else in group and disbands group. Invite next person and do it again.

When it's time to raid it's just the same thing, raidinvite first person in task (the others can help, but can't be in raid since they're in different tasks, and can't get the killshot), let them taskadd everyone before it starts.

Kill jailor, bid and loot reward. Person in task leaves raid and remove everyone else from task so next person can get an invite.

This works very smoothly as long as people doesn't accidently remove themselves from task. You have to give the necklace to Leesa to spawn spirit to spawn Jailor. If you remove yourself the task is broken and she will give you the necklace back.

BUT spirit will spawn anyway, it just takes longer time - or maybe it's beacuse we petitioned it, but I've never seen any GMs on when we did, so he might just spawn anyway.

You can do this as long as you want, as long as you have people waiting to complete it. Don't know if you could spawn him again if you already got the necklace. You probably would have to destroy it first.

Another thing that i found to be a problem with this quest is that If you die then you dont get the update to the final stage leading to the hand in of the necklace... so DONT DIE. I found this out tonight and will have to redo the quest lol

The beauty of this "solo" task is you can share it. If you share the task with a few others in your group/raid, you can circumvent this obstacle. As long as one person in the task lives, you don't lose the update.

Also it is true that someone who completed the quest can do the quest over to spawn the jailor.

Warning Warning!!!

Although this task is given as a group, you have to solo it (ie one task per person, no the same task between you all) in order to get the rewards!
Still works.

My guild ran 8 on Sunday, 04/09/06, then another 7 on 04/16/06, 10 on 04/23/06 and 6 on 4/30/06.

Nothing seems to have changed in the quest or the fights from the first time we ran these to yesterday...

I think the count is 12 earrings, 9 rings, 1 rod, 3 cloaks, 5 belts and 1 shield.

The timer did change, however. Used to be 48 hour timer, failed after 24 hours. Now it's a 24 hour timer. We ran 10 one day and start to finish took about 5 or 6 hours to get everyone to run through the quest then take out the jailor and do loot 10 times. No one reported losing the task due to time constraints.

Once you start this, you can trigger the jailor over and over. Just put whoever is up in the raid, take down the jailor, remove that person from the raid, have them do hand in to Seeker Leesa, then TL them to Nektulos to finish the quest. Insert next person to raid and go again.

We usually set up a boxed wiz in Temple of Sol Ro and in Qeynos to TL people around and speed things up a bit.

Usual set-up is a 16k warrior tank, 14.5k HP warrior or 13.7k HP SK rampage tank, 2 clerics alternating CHs on main tank, with a boxed cleric throwing HoTs, and a druid to heal the rampage tank. Plus as much DPS as we can muster.

Did it on 4/25 so it's still going. Did deviate from the breakdown here tho, when I zoned to DL trapped spirit was up. Didn't have to talk to dorf. Also the neck thingy wasn't on the FJ bod. Only thing on him was the loot (earring) I turned the necklace I got back in temple sol ro to the chick that popped on FJ death then turned it in to the don't hail guy and got the reward.

Nice they gave Tazgar a purpose other then killing newbies who hail him.
investigating a disapeared Quest.

yesterday 21,April,2006 i did the pre stuff short before the server maintenance. like 9 total hours (server down incluided) later we gathered at the spires to get the jailor.i run up to the triggerpoint with the rift on me and no trapped spirit spawns,i reequip the rift,i place it in inventory i relog and no trapped spirit spawns.than i look at the taskwindow and the quest is not more there (without an active quest there you can't trigger the trapped spirit).started it 9 hours before and the quest timer showed 24 hours on start.upon writing an angry report to the so called customer service they told me blablablaba write a bug report and don't disturb us while we ***** the game.
Was the disapeared Quest screwed by the so called maintenance apes or is the quest now finally broken completly???? anybody did the jailor after the 21,April,2006 ???

few Questions :Jailor Regen,Timer,Jailor Respawn
# Apr 20 2006 at 7:41 AM Rating: Default
can somebody confirm (from seeing it with his own eyes) that the jailor regens 2%/tick without aggro ??
can somebody tell me if you wont get anymore the necklace when the Timer runned out???apparently there are 2 timer : getting the quest will show something over 50 hours, but after under 24 hours the quest will disapear from the taskwindow.which timer is the one relevant to the necklace??the bugged or the 50 hour timer ???
can somebody tell me if finishing the jailor will start a timer to avoid chainspawning him (with different folks that runned the prestuff)or could i kill him and make him spawn again right away???
RE: few Questions :Jailor Regen,Timer,Jailor Respawn

The bugged timer: approximately 14 hours is the one to pay attention to, the one that shows up in the task window has always been incorrect.
Yes, the Jailor does regen about 2% per tick, and it is impossible to spawn two jailors at one time.
You can run prequest while killing the jailor and have no adverse effects on jailor kill, unless you pull the jailor to the prefight location.
