Hatchet the Torturer is located in a chamber entered through the drachnid tunnels. A horde of undead is also present in his room. Engage him.

Hatchet the Torturer snorts, 'Almost too small to bother with, but if you insist. . .'

Hatchet the Torturer hits for ~6500; single-target rampages; AE rampages (mitigated to ~1500); and enrages.

Throughout the encounter, people will receive emotes. Follow them, or he will proc Decapitating Chop on you. (Emotes for this event are listed below.)

After a certain amount of time:

You hear the screech of rusted metal grinding against rusted metal, punctuated by a sharp *click*. A device has been activated.

A trap spawns somewhere inside the chamber. It appears as a bear trap.

Hatchet the Torturer levels his horns at _____ and prepares to charge!

At this time, Hatchet's target (seen in the emote) must evade Hatchet for 25 seconds until you see:

Hatchet the Torturer pauses to catch his breath.

If he catches his target, he AEs the spell Minotaur Gore and can't be damaged until another "charge" emote.

After a successful charge/chase, Hatchet must be brought over to one of the spawned traps. Someone should click on the trap to "trap" him.

Hatchet the Torturer roars in frustration and agony as the trap snaps down on his leg! He buckles and collapses.

This process must be repeated every 20% of Hatchet's health.

Varying numbers of tortured spirits and enraged spirits spawn during the "trapping" process.

a rugged iron chest spawns with additional loot upon Hatchet's death.

Emotes in this event:

Hatchet locks eyes with you and snorts, pawing at the blood-stained tile with his hooves. He's about to charge directly at you!

This means you are his target, and need to outrun him for 25 seconds.

Hatchet levels his axe at your upper body and prepares to swing. You should duck.

Duck until you see:

Hatchet's axe passes harmlessly overhead.

Hatchet lifts his axe high, preparing to bring it down upon you. You should hide between his legs.

Get under him until you see:

By darting between Hatchet's hooves, he has no way to strike you.

Hatchet hefts a weighted throwing axe in his offhand and readies to throw it in your direction. You should get as far away as possible.

Run to the opposite side of the room until you see:

You outdistance the reach of the throwing axe, and it clatters to the floor harmlessly.

I soloed him as a 100 SK.

I screwed up and got three of those red skeletons in the room with me, the ones that respawn forever. I managed to get away from them at one point, but they reaggroed later in the encounter.

The adds made evading him very difficult, since they summon. I eventually gave up on following his emotes. The DT is only ~62k, so I would stand and lifetap back to full after each one. The only emotes I ever got during the encounter were to evade. I tried trapping him three or four times, but eventually gave up. My ultimate tactic was to stand in the corner and beat him down while suffering through the DT.

Nothing about this encounter is terribly challenging, especially once I figured out to ignore the emotes and just suffer through the damage. My impatience made this more difficult than it needed to be by bringing in the three redbone skellies.

ETA: I hadn't turned in any blockers at this point, which made things a little more difficult with the snare and such. I was able to turn in three now, so I'll see if my next encounter goes smoother.

You no longer need any flags to get into this zone. All you need is level 70. The expedition outline is here - https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=3345

If you trigger them,

So and so carelessly springs the trap... It snaps shut on them with incredible force!
a rusted trap begins to cast a spell. <Rusting Clamp >

I saw 5 people get caught in it and die.
Backflag drop

Dropped a Drop of Accursed Blood this past Friday.

This is the backflag item, so someone who is 85'ed in can loot it and then be fully flagged for DP.

These are the (at least partial) emotes for which you can fashion audio triggers, which will alert you when Hatchet's about to do one of his trick moves.

Hatchet hefts a weighted throwing axe
This means run away, FAR away, as fast and as far as you can, until you see...
You outdistance the reach of the throwing axe
Danger's passed, you can run back to the rest of the raid.

Hatchet lifts his axe high
You need to run between his legs, and stay there until you see...
By darting between Hatchet's hooves
It's safe; you can come out from between his legs now.

Hatchet levels his axe
You need to DUCK, and stay that way until you see...
Hatchet's axe passes harmlessly overhead
You can stand up now, and resume casting/fighting/running/etc.

Hatchet the Torturer levels his horns
He's gonna charge you; run him around in a big circle until you see...
Hatchet locks eyes with you
Now you run him onto one of the traps that's spawned, and have someone click it the second he's on top of it.

That's pretty much it. If you're running more than 1 toon at the same time, you might want to leave the bot(s) outside Hatchet's room; trying to concentrate on his emotes while operating 2+ toons is a recipe for suicide.
