This flags you to start the quest for the epic 1.5 if you don't have the The Staff of the Four (epic 1.0).
The Start Find Talwyn Flamecaller, a High Elf at location +2182, -1042, +332 in the Lavastorm Mountains. He's NW of the shadowmen. Or just follow the zone wall SE when you zone out of Lavaspinner zone tunnel and then start looking to the west. You say, 'Hail, Talwyn Flamecaller' Talwyn Flamecaller says 'The fire of destruction burns within you, does it not? I can see that your affinity for destructive magic has served you well in your travels. It has served you so well that it has caught the eye of Solusek Ro. He has created and sent me here to discuss the matter of joining his legions. If you do, you will be granted power unheard of on mortal lands. What say you?' You say, 'I agree.' Talwyn Flamecaller says 'I knew you would. . . What wizard could refuse an offer of such power? Since you have proven yourself only through combat and not yet through adventuring, I require you to prove yourself worthy once more. A small set of tests, really.' You say, 'What tests?' Talwyn Flamecaller says 'The tests I require of you are merely to measure your ability as a wizard and follower of Solusek. They will draw upon the focal points of being a wizard. Through intelligence and its application to magic, you can call upon the elements more often without strain. Through subtlety, you are able to be destructive without calling the attention unto yourself. Through research, new, more powerful spells and incantations are discovered. Through channeling, the ability to concentrate on spells is enhanced, even in the most distracting of environments. Once you have completed these tests, return to me with the results, so that I may review them.' Test of Intelligence You say, 'I am ready for the test of intelligence.' Talwyn Flamecaller says 'Through the intelligent use of magic, we are able to become more efficient at what we do. To prove to me that you have this gift, I will need you to work your way through a set of riddles. These riddles will take you full circle, beginning with me and ending with me. The path between those two points must be discovered by your own mettle. Take this note and do as it instructs. Take care when handling these notes, they are the lifeblood that will guide you on your journey and should you lose them, you will fail the test. I hope to see you back here with the correct answer soon.' Find the following 10 items: Old Pipe (Dagnor's Cauldron: -864, -914 [lake floor]) Worn Turban (Plane of Tranquility: Fished) Red Cloth (Maiden's Eye: -31, -713 [fire pit]) Platinum Token (Plane of Justice: +267, -174) Ivory Bone (Gulf of Gunthak: -34, -513 [on sunken ship]) White Sash (Mons Letalis: +24, +624, +207) Empty Jug (Katta Castellum: -250, -1050 [table in bar]) Emerald-tipped Staff (Gorge of King Xorbb: +220, -1165) Golden Dagger (Skyfire Mountains) Meditation Basket (Warsliks Woods - tunnels leading to Dalnir) Talwyn Flamecaller says 'Excellent work, _____! There was once a time when I thought these puzzles could not be solved, but through perseverance and knowledge, you have passed the test of intelligence.' Receive Rune of Greater Desiccation. Test of Channeling You say, 'I am ready for the test of channeling.' Talwyn Flamecaller says 'In the fortress of the Sarnak, amidst some old bones, you will find a small, cursed trinket that I require you to obtain. I say that it is cursed because any that try to take it are surrounded in a swarm of scorpions. The scorpions are small and not dangerous by themselves, but when a hundred of them engulf your body, you can't stand but to run away. With your proficiency in channeling, you must go and retrieve this trinket for me.' Head to the Lake of Ill Omen and go to the Sarnak Fortress and into the room with Chancellor Of Di`Zok. Kill the skeleton on the table to spawn several scorpions (green, easy kills for a 65). One of them will drop a Cursed Talisman. Bring it back to Talwyn. Talwyn Flamecaller says 'Your speed and concentration impress even me. The Test of Channeling is no easy feat to accomplish, especially with so many dangerous distractions nearby.' He then gives you the Talisman back. Test of Research You say, 'I am ready for the test of research.' Talwyn Flamecaller says 'Our ranks simply cannot be filled with slouches! We need to know that you will take the time and effort to be an effective wizard, not only for your own preservation, but also to be a contributor to our cause. You will be required to create a new spell. The research will be difficult, the runes many, but through cascade, coruscation, flash, desiccation, glint, impulse, synergy, tempest, vortex, and conflagration, you will find the path that burns deep within you. When you have crafted the spell, return it to me so that I may inspect it.' The Runes of Cascade, Flash, Glint, Impulse, Synergy, Tempest, and Vortex are common mid-to-high level drops. They are droppable and can likely be found on vendors or in the Bazaar. The 8th rune is the Rune of Coruscation is a no drop rune. Confirmed drops: A Sambata Tribal Advisor in Dawnshroud, Hynid Howler in Kodtaz, Pulsating Pool of Magma in Solusek C, high risk LDONs. The 9th rune is the Rune of Greater Conflagration, which has been known to drop during high risk LDONs and off Shar Vinitras in Akheva. The final rune is one you'll already have: The Rune of Greater Desiccation received previously. Combine the runes in a lexicon to get a Spell: Electrical Charge, required skill 190. It has ten charges of Electrical Charge. Hand this spell to Talwyn. Talwyn Flamecaller says, 'The test of research wears thin upon you, but with this parchment I hold in my hand, you have proven your worth as a contributor to the cause.' You will receive the spell scroll back. Test of Subtlety You say, 'I am ready for the test of subtlety' Talwyn Flamecaller says 'In Steamfont you will find a friend of mine, Yama Twerik, with a bit of a dilemma on his hands. He was able to bring a non-functional clockwork back to Ak`Anon from the Plane of Innovation. He is by no means a wizard, so he needs help recharging the battery of the clockwork to get it working again. Go see, he will discuss with you the details of his predicament.' Find Yama Twerik in Steamfont at location +1260, -1760 outside the minotaur caves. You say, 'Hail, Yama Twerik' Yama Twerik says 'Just in time! Talwyn said he might be sending me someone to help me with this particular predicament. You see I need help with this guy here, his battery has gone dry and we cannot find a way to recharge it. We think the clockworks of innovation are powered through some kind of magical energy, different from what is stored in normal batteries. I would like you to use your best electrical magic to try and resurrect his battery.' You say, 'I will resurrect his battery.' Yama Twerik says 'Ok good, but here is the thing, we have to be really careful. I don't want to overcharge the battery, and you will have to cast on it while I am holding the correct wires together. If you don't do it at the right time you will either fry me, or it will be a waste and we will have to start completely over. Let me know when you have cleared your mind and regained your magical strength, and are ready to start.' You say, 'I am ready.' Yama Twerik says 'Excellent, then I shall begin performing my work.' Yama Twerik says 'Stay sharp, young wizard, I will give you cue to begin to infuse this creation with your magics. Take care to put just the right amount of effort into the spell, otherwise we may overcharge the battery, or you might cause me harm. If you miss your cue, it will be a waste and we would have to start over.' Follow Yama.. Yama Twerik says 'I'm almost ready for you to make the first charge. . . Just another second. . . Ok, wizard, give it your best shot.' Click your Spell: Electrical Charge. Inactive clockwork feels static energy spark over them. Yama Twerik says 'Wonderful, I knew this would work. C'mon, let's see what we can do here.' Yama Twerik turns some bolts and twists some wires before saying, 'Alright, give it another shot.' Click the spell again. Inactive clockwork feels static energy spark over them. Yama Twerik says 'Great, this appears to be working, I can barely contain my excitement' Yama Twerik grabs a new wire and attaches it to a small bundle of wires inside the clockwork. After several seconds of making some modifications he says, 'This looks to be working, a couple more blasts like that and we'll be up and running in no time! Go ahead and give me a good, solid charge.' Click the spell. Inactive clockwork feels static energy spark over them. Yama Twerik says 'This should be the last one, wizard. Put everything youve got into this one and lets see what happens!' Click the spell again. Inactive clockwork feels static energy spark over them. Yama Twerik says 'I appreciate your help there, young wizard. Send Talwyn my thanks for sending such a capable young recruit to help me out here.' Head back to Talwyn Flamecaller. You say, 'Hail, Talwyn Flamecaller' Talwyn Flamecaller says 'You have completed the four tests of your abilities, but your journey to joining Solusek's legion is far from complete. You must now assemble a wand to help further focus your energies. In the lands of Discord, power surges and fades in an awesome display, the fluxing power flows through all things on the landscape. Go, investigate the lands of Discord; return to me with a fluxing rod, gem, rune, and ore. With them you will be ready to take your first steps as a new soldier.' You've completed the pre-quest. You can now go on to your Epic 1.5 quest. Need logs of all dialogues (these are transcriptions). | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
