The rare drop for this quest (silken mask) comes from the boss of what I have always called Island 4, the one with all the Aviak-looking critters. If you leave up the guardian when you kill this guy, he will immediately respawn and you can kill him over and over and over until you get the silken mask if you want to. The silken mask is no-drop, but easily multi-quested.
