This quest was introduced in October 2005 and is available every year around Halloween.

It's one of five tasks required to receive a Bone Mask of Horror (illusion click item).

Old Man Draykey is found in the northwest corner of Kithicor Forest at about 1915, 4535.

You say, 'Hail, Old Man Draykey'.

Old Man Draykey says 'Greetings, _____! Have you [come to participate] in the festivities?''

You say, 'I have come to participate.'

Old Man Draykey says 'Excellent, excellent! For those of you that enjoy trick-or-treating I have set up an event beyond anything you have done before. I will have convinced ten...well beings...not all of them are really people, to help with this. It's a very tricky endeavor, with highly complex [instructions]. Prepare yourself and then I will reveal the secrets to you.'

You say, 'What instructions?'

Old Man Draykey says 'First of all you need to know how to properly speak with these people. Once you find them, you simply need to say 'Trick or treat', and see what they have to say in return. I have compiled a list of my helpers around Norrath and have written them down in my book. As I have said, there are ten people each with a piece of candy you'll need to collect. Once you've collected all ten return to me with the full bag.'

You receive Draykey's Codex, a book of hints as to where to find the mobs, and a Trick-or-Treat Bag (10-slot GIANT container).

The Codex reads:

Search out those that have treats for you. Here is a small list of clues as to where they can be found.

1. Hiding in the bushes of the dead house.
2. The pinnacle of enlightenment.
3. He's not Slate, but he's close.
4. Wanders in a pit in the land of his kind.
5. A short man in an icy land, food can be found in his hands.
6. Lurking in the forest near a feline retreat.
7. He found out the hard way that drinking and swordplay do not mix.
8. Hidden away in the caves of his lair.
9. Toiling in the fields of the gnoll's family.
10. He's fallen down the stairs, but it's been kept under wraps.

The goal of the quest is to /target and say "Trick or treat" to 10 NPCs.

NOTE: Sometimes the NPC will "trick" you and give you something like Coal, Sand, or Pocket Lint. If you receive a "trick" instead of the "treat," you need to zone out and back in again to say "trick or treat" again (and keep doing so until you get a treat).

Crabby the Rotten

Crabby is found in Unrest in either of the hedge mazes.

You say, 'Trick or treat.'

Crabby the Rotten says 'Gimme gimme gimme. . .You people make me sick! Here's your nasty little treat, now leave me be.'

Receive a Candy Jack-o-Lantern.

Grand Librarian Maelin

Maelin is found in the Plane of Knowledge at the top of the library.

You say, 'Trick or treat.'

Grand Librarian Maelin says 'Ah, here you go. Fresh from the Sugar Assembalage 2000.'

You receive a Jawbreaker.

You say, 'Trick or treat.'

Sergeant Ragus

Ragus wanders along and the path in the Commonlands.

You say, 'Trick or treat.'

Sergeant Ragus says 'Hah! Here's the tastiest treat of them all! Enjoy!'

You receive a Rock Candy.

Immug Lashtail

This is a named iksar skeleton wandering the pit of the Field of Bone.

You say, 'Trick or treat.'

Immug Lashtail says 'Why is it that you people keep pestering me for these? Here's your treat, now tell everyone else they can find me off under the ocean or some nonsense.'

You receive Gummie Kobolds.

Nilham the Chef

In Iceclad Ocean, Nilham sits inside igloo in the gnome village.

You say, 'Trick or treat.'

Nilham the Chef says 'Can ya believe the Cap'n thought these were real when I first started handing them out? Hah! At least he did until they melted in his pocket!'

You receive a Chocolate Coin.

Fuzz

Fuzz stands on the beach/west wall of Toxxulia Forest -- on the same side as the entrance to Kerra Isle.

You say, 'Trick or treat.'

Fuzz Selppa says 'Careful with these, or they'll get stuck in your teeth!'

You receive Carmel Apples.

Nate

Nate stands in back of the graveyard of Castle Mistmoore.

You say, 'Trick or treat.'

Nate says 'Well, it's not ale but you'll just have to deal with that. . .By the by did you happen to bring any ale with you?'

You receive Fairy Fizzles.

Poil Lolp

Poil Lolp can be found in any cave, standing still in Netherbian Lair.

You say, 'Trick or treat.'

Poil Lolp says 'Brave of you to have come back into the dark cave. Braver still if you try this treat. . .'

You receive a Lollipop (note the anagram!).

Scary Miller

Scary Miller wanders the field of the Miller family farm in West Karana.

You say, 'Trick or treat.'

Scary Miller says 'Here's something from one of our more unusual crops, see what you think.'

You receive Candy Corn.

Wraps McGee

Wraps is in a locked room on the bottom floor of Befallen. Kill "a shadowknight" to get the key.

You say, 'Trick or treat.'

Wraps McGee says 'Here I'll just wrap this up for you. . . Get it? Hahaha!'

You receive a Tasty Candy.

Combine all ten treats in the bag to get a Full Trick-or-Treat Bag and take it to Old Man Draykey.

Old Man Draykey says 'Ah ha! You've found them all! Excellent work, here's a bit of candy for you and something else as well. Enjoy!'

Reward:

1x "Bristlebane's Ticket of Admission"
5x snack food

Old Man Draykey is one of four NPCs that Zigan Ribshard in the Plane of Knowledge hints about (he is the goblin near the Field of Bone portal). For each of their tasks, you are given a ticket of admission. You hand these tickets to the "puppet" NPC in Kithicor to receive a monster mission.

His text is not displayed properly here. When he hands you candy he actually says:

"Here you go. Be careful not to make yourself sick."

The line that is currently attributed to him:

"Hah! Here's the tastiest treat of them all! Enjoy!"

Is actually the line that ANY of the 10 npcs will say if they 'trick' you (hand you lint instead of candy). After you have said trick or treat to an npc they, regardless of if they gave you candy or 'tricked' you, will respond with:

"I've already given you your treat for now. Go somewhere else and return later if you'd like something more."

At this point you must wait awhile before they will respond again. I'll get back to you with a more precise time.

If you camp to character select and come back, you can ask for another trick or treat. You may need to delete the 'trick' item first.

Scratch the time part, appears you only must leave the zone and return to get them to respond again.

I said trick or treat to Immug (the npc in Field of Bone) and supposedly he gave it to me. I checked every bag and no candy. Said trick or trick again and he said that he had already given it to me. Will log in later and check again. I really wanna complete this one.

RE:

"You receive a Bristlebane's Ticket of Admission and five stacked snack-size stat food. The food you receive may be level-dependent (need confirmation)."

You don't necessarily get the Bristlebane's Ticket of Admission, but you can. It can be awarded on any of the related tasks except "Out with the Old," as the ticket is the trigger for that particular mission. Also, since you can do the other four missiosn in any order, there is another catch. The Ticket will NOT be offered or awarded until after you have done any three of the other four missions, based on my experience/research.

RE:

"Rumor has it that Old Man Draykey is one of (four? five?) NPCs that Zigan Ribshard in the Plane of Knowledge (goblin near the Field of Bone portal) hints about. After completing each of their quests you are given a ticket of admission. Hand in all the tickets to a "Puppet" guy in Kithicor to receive a monster mission (need confirmation)."

Yes... 5 tasks as follows:

Trick or Treat for the Old Man
The Hungry Halfling
Missing Costume Pieces
Bone Collector
Out with the Old (Monster Mission... you can do this after 3 of the 4 when you get the Ticket as noted above).

Nate isn't popping in Mistmoore for me (on Druzzil Ro), at least not yesterday evening; for that matter neither is the Bloody Vampire. Did the quests the day before just fine, yesterday neither one showed up and I was there over three hours. Petitioned but no response yet, maybe the zone needs to be repopped.

October 31, 2006 Fuzz is a Random spawn on the west wall of Toxillia Forest, Kerra Isle side, Found at Location -120, +2525, in a small draw north of Kerra's Isle Ent, and South end loc -1905, +2540, -26.57 in a crater! Old school Cat!

Interesting to note, She seems to De-spawn when she gives you a Treat, but not when she gives you a trick! Also, she seems to jump back-and-forth between these two spots.

Anyone know if this event is happening again this year? I got around to doing it late last year and they shut down the quest a week or so earlier than they said they were going to :(. I learned to not procrastinate in EQ from that hehe. I'm thinking a zombie illusion or ghoul illusion would be pretty cool too. Skelly illusion has been around for a while, but still won't complain, my ranger get's real tired of wolf form lol.

gaaaa. this event would be great if there wouldnt be so many bugs in it.. did some of the parts more than twice now and today morning the NPCs were gone. GMs working on that .. but if they dont get it fast then 14the november is over and all the work is lost.

Bonecallers Quest hint (Lvl 65-70)

PoHate - 1x ghastly finger bone (Ire Ghasts)
Sebilis - 4x bone chips (at crypt from skets)
DN/Kithicor - a dragon rib (groundspawn)

if you search for the "dragon rib" and not the "skull" then go to Dragon Necropolis on same level like ZI and search in the dragon skeletons (the first when you go into the back part of the zone through the door) for a small bag. Normally it is at 1170 neg560 (two dragon constructs were spawning on me when looking there) and on 911 neg643 we found a "dragon claw". Groundrespawn timer is over 30min.. perhaps the groundspawn pops around between more than one skeleton before appearing again on the same place.

task greens out if you turn in the "dragon rib" in Kithicor and a bone construct spawns. It drops also some loot.

November 1st, 2005
_____________________

*** Halloween Events ***

- Corrected an issue with character flagging in the Halloween events. Previously only the Trick-or-Treat event and the "Out with the Old" mission were giving credit for completion.
- Due to the issues in the Halloween events the time they will be available has been increased. The events will now remain available until the morning of Monday, November 14th.

So the event ended like it was supposed to, link to the patch message is here.

Actually the mobs despawned a number of hours before they were supposed to. I was online when the GMs sent out a systemwide message that they were aware of the problem and were working on correcting it, and asked everyone to please delete all the petitions that they had gotten swamped with. So hopefully we'll get a chance to finish out the quests. I only had 2 tasks left to do for my wife's chanter.

After the halloween NPCs were taken away, I noticed the goblin was still in PoK giving out the quest.

Maybe it is still possible to do the final turn-in if you have done all the missions.

A quick warning.

For those who don't know, the bone collector task is a group task. You will not be able to accept the task unless you have a group (i had 3 when i did it). You can have the other groupies shroud down with you if you want a lower level one, but they will need to remain in your group (though not in shroud) until the mission is done. So don't want until the last second to do it, unless you can get the "group" together in a heartbeat.

This is the difference from the dressed-up-halfling task, which you can get solo.

Timer is 6 hours on the bone collector, at least at level 30.
shrouding
# Nov 11 2005 at 4:58 PM Rating: Decent
I don't understand how the shrouding would work. would I get a level 20 shroud, get the easier mission and keep the shrouded form to get the turn-ins, or do I get the mission, drop the shroud and do the turn in? I just bought DoD so I haven't used a shroud before. Any help would be appreciated.

Verdlyn,

You don't need to shroud for this part of the quest.

done solo if you're not a lowbie:
all you're doing is hailing Draykey, getting the T-o-T bag, running around collecting the candies you get from the NPCs, combining all 10 in the bag, and then turning the bag into Draykey.

If you got DoD expansion, you can make the group missions easier by go to the Dressed up halfling in a lvl 20 shroud, hail him, receive task, and then remove shroud. Same thing with Barsin. BUT you also gets a lvl 20 loot on this tasks. However, the final illusion mask will still has full stats for your lvl.

No you dont need Depths of Darkhollow. You do need to complete the monster mission before you can get the illusion mask.

But you dont need Depths of Darkhollow to do the Monster mission, I dont have Depths of Darkhollow, and I just complete the monster mission. Was pretty easy and pretty fun to be one of the gods.
