This is the second task in a series of five (the end result being your 68th level spell/tome). It begins with Kelliad in the Stoneroot Falls at location +705, -1830 (northeastern part of the zone).

At the end of the previous task:

Kelliad says 'You have delivered the hearts of the drachnids to me _____. My trust for you grows but you still have much to [prove] to me.'

You say, 'What do I have to prove?'

Kelliad says 'You will need to prove that I can trust you of course. Are you [willing to show me] that I can trust you _____?'

You say, 'I am willing to show you'

Kelliad says 'If you want to help me, I need you to enter the city and do some [reconnaissance] for me.'

You say, 'What reconnaissance?'

Kelliad says 'Yes, it's been awhile since I was behind the city gates myself. If there are any survivors I need to know how many so I can make plans on getting them out. Are you [ready] to move forward with this ______?'

You say, 'I am ready'

You have been assigned the task 'Scouting the City'.

You have earned the trust of Kelliad and he wants you to do reconnaissance into the City of Xill. Your first objective is to sneak into the city and look for any clues of Shiliskin survivors. While you are there you should observe how many drachnids there are in the city. Meet up with Meldrek and he will get you deeper into the city.

Seek out Meldrek and speak to him about an alternate entrance to Xill 0/1 (Stoneroot Falls)

Head south along the shoreline where you'll find Meldrek (+210, -1845).

Meldrek says 'I have been keeping an eye on the movements of the drachnids since you left the city. If we cause much more alert we will need to find another entrance into the city. For now this way is still safe. When [you are ready] I'll get you back into the area.'

Your task 'Scouting the City' has been updated.

You say, 'I am ready.'

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT ...
You have entered Stoneroot Falls: The City of Xill.

Fight through the gates and explore the courtyard of the city 0/1 (Stoneroot Falls)

Destroy any drachnids that you encounter 0/25 (Stoneroot Falls)

Search for any information on Shiliskin survivors 0/1 (Stoneroot Falls)

The item you're looking for is "Tome of the Deep Waters" which drops from Warlord Drellak.

After you've killed a number of drachnids, Warlord Drellak spawns on the top level of the tall building. If you have a map, it's the largest circular building in the southern part of the "City of Xill" area.

Drellak is level 73 drachnid, can quad for up to 2,300, flurries, and is partially slowable. At intervals throughout the fight, the room shakes as you see this:

Warlord Drellak loses strength as his health is depleted.

He hits just as hard after these messages, so it's unclear how he's weakened. In addition to the Tome, he also drops a loot reward.

Drellak's drop table includes:

Corroded Soldier's Armguards
Drachnid Champion's Chestplate
Loose Weave Gloves
Tattered Shiliskin Slippers
Xillian Mail Wristguard

Possible trash drops include:

Copper Glow-in-the-Dark Compass Ring

Return to Kelliad with the tome at once 0/1 (Stoneroot Falls)

You may exit the zone by returning to Meldrek.

You say, 'Hail, Meldrek'

Meldrek says 'This is as far as I go. When you complete your objective for Kelliad return to me and when you're [ready to go] I will make sure you have a safe return back to Kelliad.'

You say, 'I am ready to go.'

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered Stoneroot Falls.

Upon handing in the tome to Kelliad:

Your task 'Scouting the City' has been updated.

You have searched the city for survivors and have recovered information for Kelliad. Speak with Kelliad for further instructions.

Caster Reward:
Loose Weave Neckguard

Melee Reward:
Necklace of the Xillian Scout

Completion of this task leads into the next task in the series, "Building the Disguise".

Did this with two good but slightly undergeared druid healers, one 68, a mid-elemental pally (11.4k or so), an SK, and good dps from rogue and BL (also slower). First time, we were unprepared for warlord dps and he did eat a couple of us before evac; went back in and had few problems with him when healers were ready with fast heals.

Good info from astrokick, but can be done without too much sweat by good healers other than clerics.

Warlord's drop for us was leather boots, 90-95 hp/mana, relative stats, no effects.
Thanks

Bubbajunior (of Povar) here.. and I've done this a few dozen times.

If you find the following info helpful vote me a 5!

Group make up that makes this easy...

dps x2
1 puller
1 slower
Cleric with Divine Arbitration
Tank with max defensive and 10k +hp

Okay so you got the task and hailed Meldrek and are in the instanced Undershore.

Single pulls make this easy.
Dont rush it... if you dont follow my instructions below you will have to deal with see invis mobs and a wipe could set you back an hour.

Normally at zone in we do full buffs and full and I have the whole group invis.

If you are at all familiar with this (because you did the first mission)... area you know you are headed towards a courtyard with a single gate entrance guarded by many spiders.

Well I found a nice way to avoid that and all the see invis's around it.

WEST of the entrance gate, if you were staring at the entrance gate from outside the courtyard to the LEFT... all the way back against the wall... you can just run over it :) up the side of the mountain and into the courtyard into a SAFE spot to pull and exp.

To make it SIMPLE. Run towards the courtyard... but when you get to the spider area.. HUG the LEFT WALL INVIS.. you CAN run over it.. and park on the other side of the wall. This is the PERFECT pull location.

Ironically enough this is only 1 hut away from where the named spawns so as soon as you kill your 25 spiders you can run right up.

Okay so you pull and kill 25 spiders bravo...

The named is at the top of a tower on the left side of the courtyard.

Clear all the way to the named and set up.. he has a very small aggro radius so you can actually stand on the platform to prep for him.

Have your puller do a run through the courtyard to throw any required entry flags. With SoE I was able to throw the flags NP and just zone out no FD or Fade needed.

This mob is no joke... underestimate him and he will drop you quick. This mob gets weaker as you kill him... At certain intervals he will flurry for as much 1700 a swing... but every time he does he gets weaker and not a whole bunch.. but it's noticable by 50% you can breathe easy.

I boxed cleric on this every time I did it.. Panolopy of Vie on MT, Pious Elixer before pull, then spam Pious Light until the mob is under 50%, full offensive burn from the moment we engage with the exception of the tank who goes defensive.

This mob is slowable but kicks out a whole LOT of damage. I tried this with a few tanks... max def pally only 12k hp.. and he got ate.. but tried with a warr about the same hp and max def and we won several times.

At the end of this I dont think the gloves listed above are the reward.

Every member of the group recieves an item. I believe the second teir gave a neck slot, first teir gave face slot... it was all mediocre quality.

I hope this information will help you get past this stage... cause stage III is a HUGE pain in the rear...

Sorry the directions to the safe spot aren't clearer.. but its kinda hard to describe.

You enter zone in front of water... you are headed towards a courtyard which has the named and must be cleared.

You can save yourself a good 40 minutes of clearing by invising and heading to the courtyard entrance.

Once there head west to the wall and CLIMB over the wall and drop down. This will leave you in the LEFT corner of the Courtyard safe from roaming mobs and in a perfect pull spot.

< MAX Defensive Pally, usually max around 12.2-12.6k, and 2.5k, and i've tanked this guy more than once just fine.

Use the usual bossmob setup: Vie, HoT, spam quickies, till rdy to cycle CHs. Just bring a druid of sham to spot and yer gtg.

The Flurries are what hurt most. Get someone on cripples asap and yer lil better off :)

Sounds like you found a good spot to pull from, but I don't have the slightest idea of what this is saying. Can you give directions as to how to get to this spot from the zone in?

I had the same problem trying to figure out what this guy was really saying to, but it works out to be as you face the city, hug the LEFT zone wall and go over the city wall and drop right down into a small cubby formed by rocks and the city wall, pull to there to clear mobs. now with your Back against the zone wall (the same zone wall you went over the city wall on) there is a hut on your left, a few paces a way, go just in front of that one, and i mean just in front of it and turn left. you will see a bigger hut. inside are mobs and see invis mobs. clear all that out and while your doing that, if you are in the right hut you will see a big ramp going up around the inside of the hut. more mobs on it. at mid way up the ramp you turn to your left a bit and you will see the big boy. you can go to the top of the ramp and there is a staging area the mob will not aggro. good luck he wiped our tank 12K 2.9 AC in seconds but our healers had slow heals loaded. you better have FAST big heals loaded and a backup healer.

OH lol, um this is AFTER you have made it to the front of the city. if you just hug left wall from zone in your gonna have to deal with see invis mobs on a small platform. we got around them by lev, going high on left zone wall then shot out over water. so it would be high on left zone wall, sharp right over water to a middle island to kinda bounce off of and then left to the city. as you do this you will see 2 valleys heading to the city. we chose the left (one closer to zone wall) to camp in till we went in city.
