Cartographer Slipgear may be found at -285, 200 (just inside the zone if coming in from Nektulos).

You say, 'Hail, Cartographer Slipgear'

Cartographer Slipgear says 'Bzzt! Well hello there! It's always nice to see a new face! I get so tired of all the same faces and places, don't you? Unfortunately my left leg is jammed and all I can do right now is walk in little circles! Bzzt! This has made it pretty hard for me to finish up the maps I have started of the surrounding areas. Would you like to [help]?'

You say, 'I would like to help.'

Cartographer Slipgear says 'Great! What I need is really pretty simple. I've managed to overhear some of the new arrivals talking about some of the surrounding areas and they sure do sound really exciting! Bzzt! Since I can't go there myself right now I was hoping you could visit each one and then come back and describe them to me so I can add them to my maps. Do you [accept the mission]?'

You say, 'I accept the mission.'

You are presented with a task window with several options. Select "Explore the Depths."

You have been assigned the task 'Explore the Depths'.

Cartographer Slipgear has asked you to visit some of the locations he has been hearing so much about lately. Visit each location and return to him with notes on what you have found and he has promised to reward you for your efforts.

Corathus Creep: Edge of the Corathus Veins

Corathus, a crumbly mineral magical in nature, lies in deep veins below the Creep of Corathus. The veins are exposed in the area near the Creep Reaper mines where the obsessed gnomeworks have dug to extract the precious resource.

Can be completed near -710, 1150 (the dead end in the far southwest).

Corathus Creep: Sporali Mindspore Traps

Although the Sporali-Shiliskin wars ended many centuries ago, many of the sporali evolved defenses linger to this day. The most powerful of these evolutionary innovations are the cultivated mindspores. The mindspores launch a parasitic pollen which takes over the body of a shiliskin host and renders it a thrall of the sentient parent mindspore.

Throughout the Creep are a few lingering mindspore colonies, descendants of the crop originally grown for the Sporali-Shiliskin wars.

Can be completed near -360, 825 (central part of the zone).

Corathus Creep: Crash Site of Expedition 328

Roughly three centuries ago, the gnomes aboard Expedition 328 dug through the roof of the Creep and tumbled into the cavern below. Although most of their digging machine has since been dismantled and salvaged for parts, a few remnants of the crash linger to this day.

Can be completed near -710, 255 (southeastern part of the zone).

Corathus Creep: Whisper Springs

It is no secret that the sporali draw their strength from the earth, particularly from areas of geothermal activity. Rumors persist of a sporali rejuvenation pool hidden deep within the Creep of Corathus.

Can be completed near 70, 60 (river's end in the northeastern part of the zone).

Corathus Creep: White Snake Falls

Can be completed near -225, 1480 (the falls to Undershore in the western part of the zone).

Corathus Creep: Return to Cartographer Slipgear

You say, 'Hail, Cartographer Slipgear'

Cartographer Slipgear says 'Bzzt! Wow this is fantastic! You captured a lot of details here! This will really help me flesh out my maps. Here is a little something for your troubles, friend. This item will grow in power as you continue to explore this region.'

Your faction standing with Expedition 328 got better. (+10)
Your faction standing with Creep Reapers got worse. (-10)
You receive 100 platinum .
You gain experience!!

You receive Slipgear's Gem, a CHARM-slot augmentation that increases in power as you explore more for Cartographer Slipgear.

i died multiple times in the hive using a lvl 20 rogue shroud. getting into the reanimation chamber was easy, but getting to the Queen's room and the living bridges from there, was very tricky, as there was a roaming see invis, and a see invis standing at the doorway to the living bridges. i got around that by going in the east obelisk, down one flight of stairs, and through the spider webbed hallway with the two drachnids on either side. follow that to the living bridges and then up and outside a little bit to get the trigger.

the ruins of illsalin stumped me with the entrance to the battlemaster's conclave. i'd read in one of these posts to use the infested waterways, but that had SI mobs, so i used some mage summoned rings of levitation, ran up the wall above the infested tunnel, and levved over to the bridge leading to the "ritemaster verok" room. from there it was a breeze, no SI mobs.

After trying all, deleting the completed hive part (without reanimation chamber)3 times i got the idee that they maybe changed the spot .running higher up in the cave entering the reanimation chamber i got a surprise :they really changed the spot.before it was at the left side of the beginning of the reanimation chamber cave entrance, now it is inside the chamber doing like 4 - 5 steps in : -618.84, 678.32, -23.73

as of today the reanimation chamber spot is not updating anymore.did the quest the second time ,the same way i did it the first time and no way to finish it ,i did from corrathus to the farer zones all the spots got all the points marked as done and still no stats on gem, i returned after every zone to slipgear to get the reward and got pp's and faction but no stats, they dont show not after zoning not after loggin out/in and the last spot that wont update is avoiding the completation. well like so many times before SOE screwed up.only message i have for them after 1000ths of ignored bug reports is F.... U and all the stupid robots that cant open the mouth to protest against your form of ignoring the wishes and needs of your customer.Dam this Fat manager in his big office getting 8000 bucks a months should get his barrel of bitumen and feathers on top to show him whats going on.

I am having trouble on this one only, I cannot climb the hill as described, i just dead stop.

So i try going in through those tunnels with the WEB blocking the tunnel. It seems those webs are like triggers to get seen.

Is that the only way to the Living bridges?

With Soe on, I climbed the eastern temple to about the level of the "balcony", then I ran straight towrds the left side of the opening in the north wall that you can fall off to zone into SRF. I caught the edge of the wall and climbed a bit of incline for s bit mroe altitude and rounded the wall and headed for the nearest bridge.
Less time than the lenght of a SoE
# Dec 08 2005 at 9:47 PM Rating: Decent
I did this entire quest in less than the length of a SoE.

First, download the latest ingame maps from EQtoolbox.com They have ALL the /loc's for the task shown on them.

Go to the shroudgiver at small bank, get a gobby shroud (whatever highest lvl you can get).

Put your points into whatever you think will make you a better 'hider' hehe.

Make 3 hotkeys
1.Hide
2.Sneak
3 Return to shroudgiver (forget the correct name of the of the AA)

Those are the only 3 keys you need up.
No hp buffs are necassary, if hide fails just die and start again from shroudgiver.

AFter you have your hotkeys up get someone to SoE you and head to corathus to meet slipgear and get the task assigned.

I dont know about the post's that claim to do the various task's without the return to slipgear inbetween I was able to do them each one at a time and still complete it before the SoE ran out.

Once the task is assigned hit Hide/Sneak and bring up your ingame map window and boogie to all the /loc's you see listed.

As you get to or near enough to each shown /loc you will get the task update message.

Make sure to do the Hive task last and in that task make sure to do the living bridges last.
The reasong being is you will need to use your 'Return to shroudgiver' AA, and you dont want to make the run all the way back to the hive after that.

The way to do the living bridges is go to the NW corner of the open square just as you come into the zone, there, on the western most corner wall start goin up..be patient it takes a bit but keep climbing until you get to the top.
The top is a considerably wide ledge that doesnt show on the map. Once up head north then turn east following the ridge line.
Heading east till nearly the edge and keeping your eye on your ingame map you will see yourself getting closer to the living bridges /loc. The trick is to get to the edge of the drop and then with your soe up, slip over the edge and drop down to the living bridges walkways below.
Once you have landed you should get the message of task update if you used the ingame map /loc you downloaded from eqtoolbox.com.
Just wait until the nearest mob is far enough away to safely get your 'Return to shroudgiver aa (remember it takes 15sec to cast) and head back to shroudgiver, remove shroud and head to slipgear for your reward.
The advantage to the gobby rogue shroud is that in Illisin you will find living and undead and the hide/sneak works for both.

I have done this task for all of my toons now from my 70's down to my 41 chanter the same way for all with no troubles.

There are see thru hide's in Illisin and The Hive but are roamers so, luck of the draw there. You will either die or not.

Some of my toons made it thru np, others died a few times in the Hive but was worth it for the charm aug.

I bought the cheapest charms in the baz I could find for under 200p and even if the charm was worthless the slipgear aug made it decent.

And the 500pp (100ppreward on each task leg completed) came in handy too (paid for the charm)

This is a fun easy peasy task and a great way to explore the new DoD zones.

Finally for those interested you also get a little shroud xp for using the shroud when you get xp for completing the legs of the task in shroud hehe (Only time I've really used shroud form for anything).

Have fun with this.

I have done this several times with different toons. Grab all five tasks from Slipgear when you first visit him. Complete the tasks in all 5 zones and then return to him and hail. You get all 5 updates, xp and 500pp. Took me 40 mins to complete from start to finish, including running through the basement in the Hive but that was without death's.

I have completed the explore the depths as described above. I have the words completed in green..so, yes, I know I have completed :) The problem is that when I go back to hail slipgear...he does not recognize that I have finished the task. I have not received the gem or any reward. I have done /petition but I get the standard auto reply that offers nothing. I did a /bug weeks ago...and did another /bug this evening. Any suggestions?

Did the Hive portion with my 28 bard in a 25 rogue shroud just yesterday. From what I've seen, the see invis mobs spawn and respawn in different places. Seems to happen every few days cause I had no probs with this a few days ago, but when I went in yesterday, a see-invis mob was parked right in the entrance of the tunnel to get to the Queen's Shrine. When I had done the quest a few days before that guy wasn't there. The very first time I tried this quest, there was a see-invis mob as one of the roamers that goes up and down the ramps in the temples. So they seem to just jump around. If there's one in the, wait a few days and go back in. He may have despawned by then.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 15 2005 at 11:28 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is not a "problem", bro--this is a sony nerf. When I heard about this I knew Sony would nerf this --why? Because they suck! Sure enough I went over RIGHT after the patch with my friend as a rogue and there were see hide/sneak mobs in entryways to several points in ruins and hive. This is not an accident--this is Sony being their usual ****-head selves and making this stupid quest now insane. The sad part is I've been playing so long I know how they think and told my friends to do this ASAP before they nerfed it. And they did... Sad... Your game designers suck *** Sony!
did they make this harder?

I did this with 1 account a couple weeks ago and except for couple deaths that were more my fault than anything, it was a piece of cake. Had some free time right after Oct 12th patch and decided to do the quest for my 2nd account. Everything went great until I got to the hive. Now ALOT more mobs seem to see you in the temples making "living bridges" and "queen shrine" inaccessible unless u got a RAID group. Anyone else having this trouble? I did these of course with goblin shroud and after multiple deaths, brought some cloudy potions just to see if there was a difference. There wasn't. Any info u can provide is appreciated.

Q: the above info states "level: 45" and the gem stats says "required: yes".
Can a level 1 (for eg) do the tasks and get the stats? or do you have to be a certian level to get the task?
I have done it on 2 lvl 70 toons and I am sure I can do most tasks (but the hive) with a low level toon. Nice stats foe a low level toon.

PS: the fun part is dodging the see invis mobs in Ruins of Illsalin for the throne room ... making a suicide run is well worth it.

Ruins of Illsalin >>> Walktrough!
Guys! Very nice to have exact Loc numbers here, but in Zone it get to nightmare. At last for me.I was able manage to find Gallowglass Arena, Statue and Infested Water Caves. Rest become to problem. Most zone partscovered by water and try find any underwater toonels to entry, bring to nothings. Please any one who did it, can explain a litle bit wider, not just a loc number. It work outside maybe well. In case Statue you need go inside. Almost inposible without Levit and Invis must be all time! Some MOB inside see Invis. Actually one exactly under Statue and you need very tricky way to manage catch check point. Loosing Invis? Hehe! Imediatelly dead. Most FD i cast fail cuz they cast on you almost non stop and it broke FD. Reason i ask to explain : I cant find right way to enter Wallwatchers Citadel and do I need enter? On map from Mapfiend it not shown. Loc numbers point to wall? I pass place several times in hours cant get Check. If any specific Entry to Trone area? If yes, plz tip how go in. Same for Batlemaster. Maps from Mapfiend of course Help a lot! Thx guys who did it! But they still to young, kinda fresh. Lotsa points still messy. I know it will be updated. Need time to ppl learn zone, but anyway, anyones help, who did quest will be greatly appresiated! Plz detailed about Ruins of Illsalin :)

The first thing, its much easier if you use a goblin rogue shroud. You can sneak/hide and be invis to nearly everything. And you never have to worry about invis falling. 1 place to worry, the main one is a see invis mob in the battlemaster room, near the secret door. Make sure you know where you are going and run in hugging the back wall and you should be fine. The only other mob that could see my sneak/hide was not close to anywhere I needed to go.
I did these without lev, but lev would have made it easier.
The Infested Water Caves are where you enter the upper levels to get to Battlemaster, and then through the secret door to the throne room.
Wallwatcher's citadel point is on the upper level, you may have passed the ramp without noticing it (I did the first time).

First - load the maps refferenced in former posts and it's a lot easier.
Second - rogue is really fine in RoI
Third - could anyone get some helping info how I could things get sorted out in hive with the goblin rogue. They got me three times and I even had a chance to evade or do sth against them. For some of the points in hive you have to enter buildings and there are some see invis mobs hanging or roaming around.

1. Get level 70 goblin rogue shroud and dial up the Hide and Sneak abilities in the regular abilities window (not the AA window).
2. Get a nice ranger or druid to give you SoE or FoE.
3. Go to Corathus Creep and talk to Cartographer Slipgear at -293, 208. /say Accept the mission. Do this for each of the missions he offers - get them all at once.
4. For each mission, you have to wander around to waypoints in each of the DoD non-instanced zones. Every time you hit a waypoint, you get a task completed message. Here are all of the waypoints I found for 4 of the zones. Get your maps from Mapfiend, hide, sneak, and go run around and hit them all.

Excellent description, but your map points are not in the map format. You have to put the first two coordinates in reverse order, and switch the signs to convert ingame locs to map locs. Also, when you want to have a space in a label, you need an underscore in the text file instead.
So for example:
P -702.77, 260.47, -44.82, 0, 0, 0, 3, Crash site of Expedition 328
Should be:
P -260.47, 702.77 -44.82, 0, 0, 0, 3, Crash_site_of_Expedition_328
If I get them all done later I will post the right numbers.

Edit: Ok, I entered all the maps as layer 2 maps (so you can use them with whatever layer one map you want), and uploaded them to Mapfiend:
Corathus Creep
The Undershore
Stoneroot Falls
Illsalin
The Hive

Edited for the proper link for Stoneroot Falls now, thanks.

The stoneroot falls link is the same map as undershore. Stoneroot Falls (westkorlach_2_4885.txt) appears to be the right one

Ahh great - thanks for the tip. I didn't try it, but rather just converted to what I thought was intuitively correct. Thanks for uploading the maps to Mapfiend!

I updated my post to eliminate the map parts and to refer to your post for coordinates.

Cheers,

I was killed shortly afterward by a "hive Crawler" that saw through SOS on path toward what looked like a massive horents nest, and I figured was queen sendai's shrine

This zone has traps in it. It may be that the traps are stripping your SoS then you get attacked. Saw this in my searching and had to rehide real quick.

I have done all of his tasks and my stats are 10 to all stats, 7 to all saves and 35 hp/mana/end. What else is needed to get the max stats of 15/stats, 10/saves, and 50 hp/mana/end?

That's what I got for doing all but the Hive one. My guess is that you didn't complete one of the tasks he gives.

I am a lvl 70 monk working on this, using invis potions. At the point of finishing
`Explore the depths-
`Chart the Undershore-
`Explore Stoneroot falls-

My aug had less stats than everyone else's I had compared to who had the same progression (ie) Druid and Beastlord in specific.

However I just finished
`Beware the Hive-

with all 4 done stats are now
5AC +7 to all stats
+25 hps / mana / end
+5 to all resists

Edit: ---- >

Just finished it ,, For monk lvl 70 stats are

AC:8 +12STR/DEX/AGI/STA/INT/WIS/CHA
+40hps +40MANA +40END
+8VS Fire/Cold/Magic/Dis/Pois

I assume the stats are different for certain class's. Just like the Planes of power progression charm. For monks it max'd out at 90hps, I think this aug works in the same manor.

I've done Explore the Depths and Chart the Undershore and my gem has 0 stats! LOL I /bugged it so hopefully I'll see something on it the next time I log in. But the end rewards is nice for a charm slot aug and much easier to max than the LDoN one.

Edit: The zone to Ruins of Ilsalin is on the left wall of The Undershore, all the way to the back. You come to this picturesque lagoon and start swimming, that is according the the map I got from RPG-Toolbox anyway.

I'm hoping you realize that you have to have it auged to see the stats on it... otherwise it looks like it does when you first got it.
RE: for Monks

Yes, I zoned, auged it, took it off, put it back on, took it back off and nothing. A friend told me to day that yes, they were broken on Tuesday but should be fixed now.

Same thing happened to me, I didnt equip it untill i was done with "Beware the Hive" and now my stats are only 10 hp/mana/end, 2ac, 3 to stats, and 2 resists. I should have higher stats than this. Also im at the last zone and cant find the last area. The Wallwatchers Citadel or something, i think its behind a waterfall or something. Any help is appreciated

Wallwatchers Citadel is to the left after you zone in. If you turn left you will see a bridge that leads into the wall the zone out is on, crossing that bridge and going up a ramp gives you the Wallwatchers Citadel point.

Oh and dont forget to unequip and re-equip your aug after each power up. Mine was saying +3 to all stats with 4 steps done but it went to +7 to all stats after I re-equiped it.
