For an overview of the Dragons of Norrath expansion, see this wiki article.
For an overview of progression, see quest entries for Norrath's Keepers and the Dark Reign.

This is a non-progression task. It is a group mission (3-6 players) that begins with Bianca Galbraith (click for map image) in the Norrath's Keepers camp of the Lavastorm Mountains.

Pre-requisites for requesting:
- Minimum Level 59
- Minimum "amiable" faction with Norrath's Keepers

Hail her to get a quest selection window pop-up.

You have been assigned the task 'The Creator'.

We have word of a creator of statues within the isles of Thundercrest. We're not yet sure who is commissioning these creatures for the dragon who resides there, but we do know that not all are functioning as they should be.

Note: This group mission scales to your group's level. The highest is 68+, outlined here.

Whoever requests the task receives a "Lens of Truth".

Touch the portal to the Thundercrest Isles 0/1 (The Broodlands)

The entrance will be marked on your compass (entered in the northwestern part of the Broodlands).

Investigate the Garden of Yar`Lir 0/1 (Thundercrest Isles)

Destroy the defunct sentries you've uncovered 0/3 (Thundercrest Isles)

Task Window Says: Your first clue is that the defunct statues may yet be waiting in the Garden of Yar`Lir. Seek them out and destroy them.

One character must venture into the inner room to complete the "investigate" stage. You must destroy three of "a defunct sentry" found in the inner room. These are very trivial kills. Once they're dead, you feel some shaking and see:

Something has come alive in a nearby room! Be warned!

You must find the source of this disturbance and defeat it before it can roam free! 0/1 (Thundercrest Isles)

Task Window Says: The rumbling you just felt must have been a sentry that is fully automated! Judging by the magnitude of the power, it must be nearby. Search for this beast and destroy it before it has a chance to destroy you!

Upon destroying the defunct sentries in the inner room, a "Furious Sentry" in one of the rooms at the "top" of the building. Clear the adds and kill it to proceed. The mob hits for a max ~1,100 and has ~45,000 hitpoints.

Recover the energy crystal from the defeated sentry 0/1 (Thundercrest Isles)

Task Window Says: Time is short but you must take the energy crystal that has been left behind. Its use is unclear just yet, but the pulsating emissions that you can sense draws you ever closer to it.

Loot an Energy Crystal from the Furious Sentry.

Identify the crystal to uncover its hidden secrets 0/1 (Thundercrest Isles)

Task Window Says: Now that you have the crystal in your grasp, you must identify the crystal to uncover its hidden heritage. Such information may give you a better understanding as to who, or what, is creating these statues.

Head east from the zone-in point (away from the main building and toward the opposite set of gates). Whoever has the "Energy Crystal" should stand at the set of double doors here. Then, whoever has the "Lens of Truth" should right-click it on that player. Alternatively, if you have a pure caster, they can cast the spell "Identify" on the player (no other form of Identify works - not the General AA, not a bard's - only a pure caster).

The Lends of Truth disappears when you click it, so make sure you're at the right location (where the double doors meet).

Upon clicking, you see:

The crystal glows brilliantly filling the room with an eerie light. A scream of rage can be heard in the distance and moments later a voice echoes across the island, 'Foolish adventurers, you will all meet death for destroying my sentries!'

"Creator Kro`Val" (doesn't see invisibility) spawns at the double doors while four sentries (see invis) spawn in the area just west of these.

Kill the creator of the statues 0/1 (Thundercrest Isles)

Task Window Says: The crystal's deeply ensconced knowledge has shown you that there is one creator of the statues. This being is a direct underling to the great dragon of these isles, Yar`Lir. You must find this creator and slay him before he can bring to life any of his latest creations!

Creator Kro`val is a fairly straightforward fight. It hits for a max ~1,300; has ~55,000 hitpoints; is stunnable and mezzable; appears to be pure melee; and flees at low health. Upon its death, the task completes:

In an amazing turn of events, you were able to destroy the creator before he could release several more of his dire minions upon you. His death will deal a tremendous blow to the operations of the dragon Yar`Lir, and perhaps cripple any attempt she was to have of driving you and your fellow adventurers out of her realm. Well done!

The identify aa in general tab did not work when I accidentally clicked lens of truth away in the other room. So be careful if you don't have another form of identify that you use your lens right by the two big doors at the entrance where the creator spawns.
83 rogue solo
# May 16 2010 at 10:10 PM Rating: Decent
pretty simple to solo this as an 83 rogue. there are only 3 fights if you have shroud of stealth.

put merc on passive, run to the CY and kill all of the mini sentries and hit escape if you aggroed the horsies.

put the merc back on reactive and sneak to the furious sentry. kill him, loot him, and step on the portal in the north room to zone out. (if the sentry is in the north room, it's right behind where he stands.)

clear out the area where creator spawns if you need to and use the identify clicky to spawn him. quickly rehide and kill him.

Guess it depends on class. Took me about 15 minutes.

Bind in lavastorm by task giver.

Zone into Courtyard, set pet and merc on passive. Run to garden, feign. You get update. The clay golem mobs are weak sauce. Once agro was gone, sent pet/activate merc to attack each of the three golems till all were dead. I stay feigned.

Normally got a kirin add while killing the 3.. stand ... 2 dots . ..feign.. and he was dead in 20 sec or so. . Stand back up, feign your way to T hallway. Find the new golem. I'd just take him and the whole room on. They are pretty weak.

Save your discs.

Run back to courtyard and feign in corner. Lose aggro and then use identify on your stone you looted off golem. 4 sentinels spawn, plus you got 1 -2 drake adds. Mem gate before you make your run

Run for Creator. Hit him with all your discs and pet. Mobs are going crazy, merc is healing you like crazy. Mobs ...all jump on merc.

Creator is dead. Task updates. You have nothing pounding you.

So, gate back to lava, and get the quest again in a few minutes.

Any actual minimum level?

I'm just curious if these missions actually have a "Minimum" level to start.

If Faction is the only thing preventing lower levels, a higher level With the needed faction can simply shroud down to their level to start the mission, and the resultant tokens from the missions will faction those lowers up enough to do it on their own.

Based on that, a group of level 10s could do these missions.
Has anyone actually ever seen a "when you are more experienced" message on DoN missions?

Personally, I'd love to see <50 versions of several of the missions, particularly those nobody likes to do at 70 due to their difficulty being out of proportion to the rewards.

it's a tier 2 mission, so just need faction and finish tier 1.
I don't believe there is much of a level limit as long as you can get someone that level, with the requirements to get it.

On progression servers it is still a 10 level difference. Tried a 59 with two 70s and it wouldn't let us do the quest, but the server is currently still capped at level 70. Most like the 15 level spread starts once there is someone over level 70 in the group, or some such thing.

10 level spread.

The "drake eggs" mission for tier 2 dark reign is a really easy one to 3-box.
15 minutes for 29 crystals.

I am just posting this because I see no posts mentioning the changes that were made some time ago & would hate for someone to come here & read a strategy that is outdated.

Due to the ever helpful developers this mission can be a serious P.I.T.A. after all the 'fixes' that were added a few patches back.

Now the mobs DO respawn, and at a ridiculous fast rate. I would guess that if you spend the time trying to pull all of the roaming mobs from the halls you would have respawns before you could accomplish that task.

If your group is not on the ball and isn't prepared to get down to business and grind this out don't even bother wasting your time picking the mission up. (ie. If your group clears entry way and moves inside to the 1st corner and needs to AFK for a smoke, drink, or anything else. FORGET IT ! summon bodies to the guild lobby and call it a night.)

If your group is in it to win it, I feel the best strategy is to do a semi-crawl rather than the set up camp in corner and pull to it. Now your better off pulling group up to mob and engage. ALWAYS ALWAYS... I repeat ALWAYS keep an eye on whats popped behind you. Those wanderers you pulled earlier may be the one that is about to respawn right where your standing.

Have a plan for adds because you WILL get them if your not moving fast enough. Better to plan for worst and hope for the best.

BTW. If you happen to wipe in the halls & you do not have a corpse retriever that can pass see-invis mobs. Summon your bodies & save yourself a headache. Perhaps someone can say whether a rogue can slip by them or not. I personally have never been in group that had the luxury of a rogue to try corpse retrieve, so I can not say if it works or not.

Also, about the CR, just get someone to shroud to goblin and hide/sneak to recover corpses if you absolutely can't find another way.

it's still "fixed"
but not as bad as the above poster makes it sound.
Respawn is about 20 to 30 minutes. Any awake group can do it easy enough.
Don't even bother with the mobs in the yard or the gates. they will just be back, and take all your time.
Clear the one at the doorway if it is up.
Clear the 4 hallway roamers, and 2 golems on the right side then move to the corner.
Moving the group around the right side will give you less mobs to clear.
Depending on what mobs are up inside the garden, you will pull one drake or a drake and a horse, then pull all 3 statues.
Then move to next corner.
Clear the mobs up near the door to the furious, and keep eye out for roaming respawns. After 4 respawns gone, pull the furious.
clear your way out, dont bother with the cats on left in the courtyard still.
clear the gate, move to it, pop the creator and win.

Done this a few times and only one mob has used the effect "Kirin Touch" (heal for 10,000hp). It was a right pain with a group of 4 because our dps was low.. had to aggro kite to save mana in the end.

Is this just a effect that some random Kirin can have?

Anyone know how this works? It was still healing itself when it was mezed...

Well 2 people in group casted Identify about the same time and well there popped 2 Creators and Double stacked Statues. We did kill both but only got the Reward for the first kill.

What is required to get the Creator mission? Every time I get in a DON group they want this mission and I can't get Bianca to give it to me.

Someone told me that I needed to finish the Tier 1 tasks to be able to get it. So I did that, got the nice +10 stat bonus and the character flag. She still won't offer me Creator. I have amiable faction. I'm level 69 and I was grouped with a 67, 62, and two 65s. What are we missing?

You need higher faction; be sure you are turning in your "tear drop" for faction every time you do a quest. Keep doing lower level quests until you have high enough faction.
RE: Requirements to get Creator?
# Aug 16 2005 at 8:33 PM Rating: Default
Took me about 6 tear drops to get to indifferent from apprehensive. I also have not done any of the basic factions quests either. Could it be it takes about 6-10 missions to improve to each rank of faction?

Actually, each faction level requires quite a few more missions. The first level took appx. 6 missions. The final one (warmly to ally?) took somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 missions. That's a complete guess, I only know it took a very long time.

Pacification only affects mobs up to level 65. 40 Crystal creator has no mobs 65 or lower so Pacification won't work.
These are all Reaction Radius Paci's up to 70, you can't run past the mob, but you can pull a mob standing nearby.

Rangers: Tranquility of the glade,
Druids : Nature's serenity
Enchanter: Placate
Cleric : Placate
Monk : Phantom Cry
Bard : Luvwen's Aria of Serenity

Hope it helps

Be aware, in 69+ average level groups kirins also have chain aggro. Be prepared to mez if you get an unlucky spawn in the defunct sentry room.

Had 4 kirins in ours last night >.< It was not fun.

On a side note, does anyone have any idea on the stats, names, or drop rates on the augs/armor pieces? I've as yet to see any drop.

FYI: You can earn more than 40 crystals per mission, in a group where the average is 69+, I've been getting 41 per mission. Also, I see above that the rewards are listed as radiant crystals but you can also recieve this mission from the dark riegn camp and be awarded ebons.
RE: Number of crystals

If you do the dark reigh version at 69+ you get 41 ebons, for the Norath Keepers you only get 40 radiants

repop
# Jun 27 2005 at 1:39 PM Rating: Decent
there are no repops on this one. i solo it as a necro and took my time once killing everything in the zone went to the store etc etc i was there for like 5 hours and only spent maybe 45 mins total killing there, it was a lasy day. never any repops.

the first hallway where it splits left or right there are about 8 wanderers that can path all the way around the garden area thats why some may think theres respawns but it's all just wanderers.

Not entirely correct, although we decided since every single member was 70 it might be something done to make the mission more challenging.

We were clearing the hallway to the right when the statue we cleared 20 minutes earlier repopped in the middle of a pull. His location was left of the short hall to main hallways. Needless to say he complicated the issue somewhat but mezz landed and we proceeded as normal.

When we came back from killing Furious he was still down, but after we finished taking out the Creator, we notice he has repopped again. After some discussion, we decided to take out the doorguards and him, as well. Interestingly enough, a cloudy gem?(name? +50HP augment) dropped from one we killed (of the 4 pops, not the repop), so we were rather happy about this "waste of effort" as one member put it, to take down the annoying repop.

Footnote - the augment has dropped 2 times in perhaps 30 Creator missions I've done, and both times from Statue mobs.

Exactly as Sethar said, with another minor exception. Once you kill the 3 Defunct Sentries, a fourth spawns. This needs to be killed as well. Another thing, I am a 66 druid and my groups do this mission in under thirty minutes with me pulling. If it is not level 70 creator, I harmony pull everything. First I harmony everything down the right hall and pull the first mob inside garden and harmony my way back with him snared. Then for the second the same way. Then I solo the four Defunct Sentries. Then, I can harmony pull the Furious about 75% times all the way down the hall. Quick and easy if you are just after crystals.

I agree 100% with all of this *except* when I did it, the Creator did 2, maybe 3 times as much damage as the furious sentry. It was by far a more exciting fight. Actually, we had some lower levels in the group and the rest of the mission was a crappy xp snoozefest for me, but Creator came out swinging. The level part might be a factor, maybe furious is affected by the party level but Creator isn't? /shrug

Snare and kite the Creator if you're worried about his melee...

Furious Sentry hits like regular Bazu's... I'd say the Creator hits more like a named Bazu in WoS.
