This raid task begins with Captain Areha Burina (click for map image) in the Norrath's Keepers camp of the Lavastorm Mountains. Pre-requisites for requesting this task: - Minimum 6 players; maximum 54 players - Must be kindly faction with Norrath's Keepers - Completion of all Tier 3 tasks and flags - Completion of "Guardian of the Sands" (raid) - Completion of "Goblin Dojo" (raid) You say, 'Hail, Captain Areha Burina' Captain Areha Burina bows. 'I see a good heart in you and a measure of bravery. Serve Firiona Vie and Norrath's Keepers well!' You have been assigned the task 'An End to the Storms'. Make your way to the isles in the sky. There you will find the great tempest dragon. We want to show a hand of good faith, but do proceed with care. We are almost certain this will be a hopeless mission and you will more than likely be required to defend yourself. Should she wish to see the end of the Norrathians for invading her home, then you must do what is necessary to prevent it. Yar`Lir the Living Storm says 'I so seldom receive visitors here. You will be my entertainment!' Yar`Lir the Living Storm hits for a max ~4,800; AE rampages (mitigated to ~900-1000 per hit); and casts "Wind Shear", "Icicle Blizzard", and "Yar`Lir's Cone of Storms": Icicle Blizzard: Targeted AE 75', Cold (-475) 1: Decrease Hitpoints by 3000 Wind Shear: Single Target, Chromatic (-425) 1: SpinStun Wing Buffet: PB AE 1000', Chromatic (-425) 1: Decrease Hitpoints by 2500 Yar'Lir's Cone of Storms: Directional AE 500', Chromatic (-425) 1: Decrease Hitpoints by 5000 She is permanently rooted in place and sees invisibility (but not Shroud of Stealth). Over the course of the fight, she'll change forms (unique abilities depending on her form): - Yar`Lir the Matriarch (spawns several "a blizzard seeker" adds) - Yar`Lir the Hurricane`s Eye (spawns adds called "an unstable storm" which AE the DOT "Force Quake") - Yar`Lir the Mistress of Winds (adds "Tempest Wind" to her spell lineup) Tempest Wind: Targeted AE 30', Magic (0) 1: Decrease Hitpoints by 600 Completion & Loot Kill Yar`Lir to complete the event: Yar`Lir the Living Storm has been slain by _____! Yar`Lir struggles for a moment, causing a great torrent of weather to rock her treasure chamber. As the mighty dragon comes crashing down, the wind dies. Your faction standing with Yar`lir has been adjusted by -1. Your faction standing with Vishimtar has been adjusted by -1. Unfortunately, Yar`Lir could not be reasoned with. You did what must be done to protect the denizens of Norrath from her irresponsible control over wind and weather. Yar`Lir drops 9x "Yar`Lir's Fang" (progression) + 1x "Eye of Yar`Lir" (turn-in item for a mask). Fangs are indeed pre-lootable with zero faction & you WILL get them accepted later when you get the faction high enough. I have done this event weekly for alts (for the Stormeye band) with no faction and got them ally months later. No problem turning them in, just make sure to hail and follow the text to get the "update flag in yellow text" prior to hand-in. Has to be a minimum of 6 real players to request it although only need 1 to kill. Think the fastest kill is about 14 seconds (decap) so far for me.

Yar'Lir fangs are no prelootable if you do this quest withothers that can and you do not have the faction. Even if you get the faction later he will not except the fangs. This seems to pertain to all the end items in the DON raid quests.

Easy solo for monk; in Matriarch form she pops adds that need to be dealt with, all her other forms are cake.
Be warned: the door locks a short while into the fight and does NOT unlock upon completion. So if you're boxing you can do like i did and run all toons inside the room and camp the ones you dont need out.

We're close, damn close each time we attempt, but I figure there's something we haven't noticed that we're not doing.
Some of us report getting hit less with the AE's when standing under the 'porch' areas around her room. Others report that standing in front of the 'water' closer to the center saw significant reduction in the AE damage.
What's the sure fire strategy to this?

The names give hints to how to beat it. For example, what is special about the eye of a hurricane?
Don't want to give away the whole thing. Half the fun is figuring it out. Farming it afterwards actually can be a real snoozefest.

Basically DPS fight.
Bury everyone including the clerics underneath him, right on his target ring. The rampage seems random. Like sometimes I don't seem to get hit much at all and I think that I found the perfect spot, then boom I get hit.
Spread out group healers in each group. As a pally I have my 65 & 70 group heals loaded. That is enought to get my group through the fight.
DPS, the faster you kill, the less chance your tank takes an unlucky round. Keep DI on him making sure to recast if it fires.
