"a shady merchant" may be found at -460, +1900, -160 in the Crypt of Nadox.

You say, 'Hail, a shady merchant'

a shady merchant says 'You there! You look like you could use a bit of [work]. If you're interested I have something that you might find very. . . lucrative.'

You say, 'What work?'

a shady merchant says 'My employers have been enjoying quite a bit of success lately with their operations and wish to continue them uninterrupted. However, these operations have been put in jeopardy lately. Those stinking [pirates] are thinking of shipping off again to resume their raiding of Faydwer and Antonica.'

You say, 'What pirates?'

a shady merchant says 'It's no less than the Hate's Fury that is heading out again. You can't even imagine what a ship like that can do to the operations of my employers. We have come up with a solution, or at least a way to prolong our profits though, if you're willing to [help].'

You say, 'I will help.'

a shady merchant says 'Excellent, the plan is a simple one, in concept at least. The ship needs a navigator in order to be successful in its raids. If we can eliminate the navigator of the Hate's Fury she will not be able to leave until they can conscript a new one. There's been a small [complication] though.'

You say, 'What complication?'

a shady merchant says 'The captain and his officers are a fairly vicious group, they are pirates after all. Because of this there is a high turn over rate on the crew. The last navigator for the ship met a rather grisly end. They recently obtained a new navigator, but we have not been able to discover who that is so far. This is where you come in, if you're still [interested].'

You say, 'I am interested.'

a shady merchant says 'We need you to venture onto the ship, find out who the navigator is, where he is located, and slay him if possible. Now get going and don't come back until he's dead!'

You have been assigned the task 'Hate's Fury Setting Sail'.

The direction to someone related to your current Task has been marked on your compass.

The arrow takes you to "a shady smuggler" at -1325, +1415, -135.

You say, 'Hail, a shady smuggler'

a shady smuggler says 'Hmph, so you're going to stop the Hate's Fury from sailing? Well at least it will be entertaining to watch them wash your blood from the decks. Let me know when you're ready to [board the ship].'

You say, 'I am ready to board the ship.'

a shady smuggler says 'Off we go, I'll be waiting for you when you're done. . . If you're still alive that is.'

You get teleported into an instanced version of Hate's Fury called Hate's Fury: Setting Sail.

Your Location is -103.10, -15.03, 67.75.

You say, 'Hail, a shady smuggler'

a shady smuggler says 'Well you're still alive, so you've already exceeded my expectations. Let me know when you're ready to [leave].'

The first three stages of the task involve looting three different notes that drop randomly from all the "trash" mobs in the zone. Just clear trash until all three drop. (NOTE: Although rare, it is possible for all 3 pages to not drop in a single instance due to the RNG nature of the loot)

You have looted A Ship's Log Page.

Your task 'Hate's Fury Setting Sail' has been updated.

The next stage involves looting A Scrap of Paper

Your task 'Hate's Fury Setting Sail' has been updated.

The third stage involves looting A Crumpled Note

After the third piece is looted, Grimzek (yellow con according to your group's top level) spawns randomly between a few set locations, your quest journal will tell you where he can be found, along with 2 adds which may be split "an apprentice navigator" and "a brokenskull mystic."

Four Versions of Crumpled Note
# Nov 23 2005 at 8:21 PM Rating: Decent
There are four versions because the Crumpled Note gives the location of the named <Grimzek> which spawns after you loot the note and he can be in four different locations on the ship.

Here's the text from our A Crumpled Note:

Grimzek got sent to the medics again. The fool is
dumb enough to think those falling barrels were
caused by the roll of the ship. Maybe we should try
something bigger next time.

Zone mobs do scale up with average level of group.
Drops also scale upwards with average level of group.

This instanced can be done in ten minutes(luck and a good puller are key here).

For a quick easy start:
Find:"a shady merchant", and say "I am interested". You can skip the rest of the dialog.
From there on out just follow your compass.

Luck is Having the ships log, scrap of paper, and crumpled note drop, be sure your looter clears all corpses before your camp moves along(yes, I am thinking of you necro's and your wake the dead spells). Clear corpses, loot everything. I personally destroy weapons, they do not make that big a difference in the split in the end, but waste a ton of bag space.
Pretty common drop whild clearing zone is
Greatmaul of Hatred.
Typically nice haul of gems, as is pretty consistant with LoY zones.

I have done this instanced multiple times, basically cause the AA is good, especially burning a vetrans reward, if you do not finish in ten minutes. Easily accomplished by letting Grimzek stay where he is until your ready/willing to take him out.

I have seen him pop/spawn in:
Captains Cabin
Foredeck (directly in front of instanced port in)
Sick Bay
And
Treasuer Room

Drops as I have observed them.
Grimzek drops:
Grp average 65 to 67,
Helmsman's Mask of Vision
and
Meticulously Crafted Sextant

Group average 68:
Buccaneer's Shield of Pillaging

Group average 69+:
Tactician's Cloak of Plunder
And
Silken Mantle of Skullduggery

The rarest drop I have seen:(yet still not won a roll on)
Sparkling Ruby of Sea

I hope this helps someone out.
Mobs give about the same xp as you would get at a good south wall group, but their dps output is no where near what you would see at South Wall in Wall of Slaughter.

Have only seen one time where I could have sworn there was backspawn, but am thinking we might have just jumped below deck before taking mobs out. Mobs were located north of instanced port in, at doorway heading to captains cabin.

Good luck and have fun!

Finally Drops....
# Jul 10 2005 at 6:10 PM Rating: Decent
Finally got 1st drop and note saying Grimzek wouldn't come into the ship, that he had to be on top to see better. Back to zone in and haven't found him yet. Wondering if they are ever going to fix this.

"You get teleported into an instanced version of Hate's Fury. What is this instanced version called? We need the exact name you see when entering the zone. "

You have entered Hate's Fury: Setting Sail

Shockingly enough Grimzek is the end mob, 70+, and he didn't summon. He walked (slowly as I had snared him) when I stole agro.

In my instance he was found in the Treasure Room and he dropped a Buccaneer's Shield of Pillaging

MOB LEVELS
# Jul 03 2005 at 5:39 PM Rating: Default
Grimzek was 67, one level higher than the highest person in our group(lvl 66) and the 2 that stand beside him, navigator and mystic were both even to a 65. It may be as with LDONS, DONS etc, it takes into account group level and adjusts accordingly.
Bad runs....
# Jun 30 2005 at 9:00 PM Rating: Decent
I just did this two times, cleared like 100 mobs first time no drops... at all.

2nd time we cleared about 50 mobs, and once again no drops at all.

We do this with 5 toons, but only chanter/cleric/druid actually doing anything. Charming a mob and killing everything fast. (Charmed mob hits for 845 with regular weapons, 895 with Mage summoned items) Was really getting frustrated so we gave up on it for the night, we'll go back again and see what happens next time.

Yup did it tonight on Stromm server with a full group and cleared the whole thing -- no drops. Bugged it.

XP is pretty good though =)
drops a mask too
# Jun 30 2005 at 5:58 PM Rating: Decent
droped a brown icon mask for me with 55/55 hp mana didnt loot it though, was fun to complete anyway.
I've done this a few times...
# Jun 30 2005 at 12:33 PM Rating: Default
I've done this a few times, here is a quickie run through.

Okay this all starts in Nadox. You are going to enter go under the lava, over the bridge (invis) and south towards Hates Fury. First you need to find a Shady Merchant, he is non aggro. Hail him go through any dialog. Continue towards Hate Fury and just before the zone you will run into a Shady Smuggler he is the NPC that will port you into the instanced event.

I've found that the notes needed drop randomly as you kill. I prefer going down deck and clearing first then coming back up top. This makes this mission do able without CC if you have a good tank and healer.

This seems to be actually quite a bit easier than the Unrest Mission, while the mobs are about the same Strength you dont have to risk any dangerous pulls. You can park your group in a safe spot and do singles the whole adventure.

The boss is always killed so fast I wouldn't think he has any special abilities or hp or resists. There is no chest.. you loot your winnings off the boss mob.

The Mobs give 2-3% aa exp per kill at level 69. (High elf cleric base with 100% to aa and no leadership on)

This takes about 30-40 minutes from the time we enter to finish although I could definately see us doing it faster if we were rushing it and had a good puller.

The cloak seems fairly common, the mana regen 2 aug seems rarer.

Although I've never tried I would think this could be done by 3 people level 70.
How do I send in updates?
# Jun 22 2005 at 11:01 PM Rating: Decent
I did this mission the other night, and turned logging on once we got in the zone. Do I need to edit the log to just the stuff pertaining to the event, or do you have a way to do it?

Hates Fury Task
# May 30 2005 at 2:54 AM Rating: Default
Ok this was over all a very nice task. Loc's given in earlier post were right on, but there are see invis mobs along the way, so you will have to fight to get to both Npc's. (But these mobs are cheese compared to the ones on the task)

After fighting your way along the docks to the second Npc you are ported to the boat.

All 3 of the no drop notes appeared to be random drops.

A rotting Swabbie dropped (Log page) 16 kills into the mission. We cleared the deck and then we cleared the right side of the ship. Druid succored back to gate in loc. Our bard went down the ladder to check track on the lower decks. When he went below deck a mob respawned on the zone in deck. a brokenskull cannonier and he dropped a (scrap of paper) This was our second task up date and it said to go below deck and look for Grimzek. The 1st mob we killed below deck was a luggald crewman and he dropped (a crumpled note) Task up date said to go look for Grimzek on the fore deck. We went back up the ladder and Grimzek and his 2 friends were at the front of the ship.

Grimzek 71
a Brokenskull Mystic 70
a Navigator apprentice 70

Our Bard single pulled Grimzek and our 70 warrior went to work on him, and we joined in. Loot was on Grimzek. The Bard got the Tactician's Cloak. We killed the two 70 friends for the xp and we gated out.

Was a fun task and I would like to do it again. XP was awesome and I got to Ding 69 on a warf rat (LOL).

Does a chest spawn at the end of the quest like the Unrest Task? Going to try this quest today and will post any info I can gather.

No chest spawns, unlike the Unrest mission. Loot is straight from corpse.

Actually, Grimzek can spawn on either deck. I've seen 2 spots each on the upper & lower decks. The mission window is supposed to tell you which deck he will spawn on after the update from looting the 2nd of the 3 pages. This seems bugged though as it can show different decks for the people in the group.
