- You'll also gain faction regularly as you go through the progression itself.

Tier 1: Gift of the Dark Reign

Upon reaching indifferent faction (and if Level 65+), you can begin progression. Speak with Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar:

You say, 'Hail, Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar'

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar sizes you up and snickers. 'How pathetic. What could you possibly do for me? You stand in the heart of the outpost of the might Dark Reign -- soldiers of Lanys T`Vyl. With her on our side, why would we need you? I assume you think you can [help].

You say, 'Of course I can help'

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar says 'Hm? I could at the very least send you on a quest that would -- with almost certainty -- see the end of you. Very well, then. Go talk to Sirrikis. He has some menial tasks suitable for a whelp like you. We need ingredients to create burning arrows, help collecting basilisk blood, and assistance in clearing a path for our equipment in the Stillmoon Temple. When you satisfy these needs, then mayhap I will entertain your homely face again.'

You have received a character flag!

Next, hail Officer Sirrikis Ryktor to get three solo tasks:

- The Burning Poison
- Blood of the Basilisk
- Clearing the Path

After completing these tasks, speak with Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar again:

You say, 'Hail, Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar'

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar says 'Bah! I expected someone to report that you were deceased, _____. That not the case, obviously, perhaps I can give you a more challenging task. I have entrusted Vacax Rol`Tas with some more significant assignments. Go speak to him about the goblin's note in Tirranun's Delve and should he be satisfied with your work, perhaps I may talk again.'

You have received a character flag!

Now, speak with Officer Vacax Rol`Tas for a mission:

- Have Note Will Travel

With that mission completed, return to the Dark Reign camp, and speak with Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar again:

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar says 'If it will entice you to keep risking your lowly life for us, I have a rather rare reward for you -- a gift of magic from Lanys T`Vyl, the Child of Hate. It just might improve the more you help us. Do know that if you EVER turn your back on the Dark Reign and favor the Keepers, you will lose this gift in an instant.'

You have received a character flag!
You have gained the ability "Gift of the Dark Reign" at a cost of 0 ability points.

The new ability "Gift of the Dark Reign" gives a maximum stats increase of 10 per stat.

Tier 2: Tenacity of the Dark Reign

You must have amiable faction standing or better to request Tier 2 tasks. You can raise faction by doing the miscellaneous missions offered by the NPCs in the camp (each mission results in a Token which can be turned in for +20 faction). First, speak with Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar again for a flag (this checks you for amiable+ faction):

You say, 'Hail, Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar'

If below amiable, you see:

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar says 'What in the...? While a measure of arrogance can be tolerated, your stupidity cannot. You will go no further with me until you do more work for the Dark Reign. Pay your dues, fool!'

If amiable or higher, you see:

You say, 'Hail, Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar'

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar looks you up and down with distaste. 'You have indeed surprised us all. Not just a few eves ago your name came up while we took a meal. Oh, how we laughed. But, as you are here, perhaps you have earned some insight into the great army of the Dark Reign. Our purpose -- nay, our destiny -- is to carry on the [work] of our most-feared and revered leader, Lanys T`Vyl.

You say, 'What work?'

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar says 'We shall be victorious in robbing the lands of those ignorant and frail races of light and good. Should you stay the path with us, perhaps you will be on the favored side of darkness as we rule Norrath! In order to even be considered for such an honor, you must continue to provide for us. I believe Sirrikis is ready to trust you with [endeavors] that are somewhat more sensitive. And you will notice that I have told Lereh Dirr that if you are foolish enough, you may attempt to slay the great lava dragon known as [Tirranun].'

You have received a character flag!

(This flag grants you access to the non-progression raid "Fanning the Flames".)

You say, 'What endeavors?'

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar says 'Indeed, you must aid us with gathering muddy blood from sand goblins, creating an army of stone, and gathering kirin brains. See Officer Sirrikis for these tasks. Should you complete all of this work, which I highly doubt, I may grant you even more challenging assignments. Now, start marching. Your stench is annoying me.'

You say, 'What about Tirranun?'

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar says 'I don't believe you are ready, but stranger things have happened -- not withstanding your success so far. Should you survive a meeting with this dragon of lava, we have much to learn. His death will likely grant us enough knowledge to find a way to access the other dragons that inhabit this newly discovered land. Should we learn enough about these dragons, we may be able to exploit their kind and their knowledge for our army and serve Lanys' will in Norrath -- to see the end of the good.'

Now, speak with Officer Sirrikus Ryktor and receive three tasks:

- Army of Stone
- Blood from Sand
- Reap the Kirin Mind

Once these tasks are done, head back to the Commander and speak with him to receive a flag:

You say, 'Hail, Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar'

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar says 'You continue to overcome the challenges that some of the grunts of the Dark Reign seem unable to. I suppose I shall continue to push the limits of your abilities to see at what point you end in a bloody mess. I've asked Vacax to assign you with stealing drake eggs for the Dark Reign. The potion we can make with them shall be deadly, indeed. As I don't appear to be able to get rid of you, I shall direct you to Aleeth Zyrv. The mission to investigate Emoush that he has for you is quite a bit more delicate and will require you to bring along those with skill that can be trusted. Return to me with proof when you have completed these assignments.'

You have received a character flag!

Next, speak to Officer Vacax Rol`Tas, who gives you another mission:

- Drake Eggs

With this mission complete, speak with Captain Aleeth Zyrv for your first progression raid event:

- Calling Emoush (6-24 players)

Loot the "Glowing Stone Fragment" from Emoush the Destroyer, and bring it to Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar:

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar says 'Interesting that you continue to put yourself in harms way for the Dark Reign and survive. Lanys has authorized me to improve your abilities somewhat so you can continue to risk your hide for us. Talk to me again and if the Dark Reign considers you worthy, I will have more work.'

You have received a character flag!

You get 1-2 AAs and the Special AA "Tenacity of the Dark Reign" (adds 250 hp/mana/end to your base stats). You also receive your 69th level spell/tome.

Bard - Spell: Storm Blade
Beastlord - Spell: Growl of the Panther
Berserker - Tome of Destroyer's Volley
Cleric - Spell: Blessed Touch (scribes as "Ward of Retribution")
Druid - Spell: Serpent Vines
Enchanter - Spell: Rune of Rikkukin
Magician - Spell: Summon: Molten Orb
Monk - Tome of Dragon Fang
Necromancer - Spell: Shadow Orb
Paladin - Tome of Guard of Righteousness
Ranger - Spell: Earthen Shackles
Rogue - Tome of Assassin's Feint
Shadowknight - Tome of Soul Shield
Shaman - Spell: Spirit of the Panther
Warrior - Tome of Cyclone Attack
Wizard - Spell: Claw of Vox

Tier 3: Embrace of the Dark Reign

In order to continue on after this step, you must have high amiable faction (+400 faction). Hail Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar for another flag:

You say, 'Hail, Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar'

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar snarls as you approach. 'Still nosing around, are you? While it's somewhat appropriate you're willing to be fodder for the Dark Reign. Your desire to please is almost embarrassing -- unless you are smarter than that and have [greater motives]. I highly doubt that, however.

You have received a character flag!

(This flag grants you access to the non-progression raids "Reflections of Silver" & "Kessdona's Perch".)

You say, 'I have greater motives...'

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar says 'Is that so? If your desire is to serve Lanys T`Vyl and this ascending army, then I can respect that to some degree. Unless you are simply willing to give us your body for our undead contingent, you have many [quests] before you get there. Should you succeed, then perhaps I won't want to sever your head from that neck of yours each time I see you. Once again, Sirrikis has the details for you. As promised, I have given Lereh Dirr instructions to lead you to the greater [wyrms] we have uncovered the hiding place of, though our interest in them right now isn't critical.'

You say, 'What quests?'

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar says 'You must contaminate the waters of Stillmoon Temple, gather knowledge from the scrolls of the temple, and thwart the attack of the Snowfoot goblins. When you are successful, return to me and I will direct you to my officers for more challenging work.'

You say, 'What wyrms?'

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar says 'The dragons of the Temple and Ascent -- Rikkukin and Kessdona -- are mates of a type of dragon we've not seen. Scales of metal have been recovered from the temple and they hold a magic that might play a vital part for us. They are dragons of great wisdom and knowledge and besting them would be a feat that few are prepared for. But as few are foolish enough to take on the task, I thought you might be. You will find that Sirrikis can open the way to these dragons for you.'

Speak to Officer Sirrikis Ryktor to be assigned three solo tasks:

- Muddy the Waters
- Snowfoot Attack
- Knowledge is Power

After completing these tasks, speaking with the Commander again:

You say, 'Hail, Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar'

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar sighs. 'Why must you look at me so expectantly? There is a long way to go before I would offer any respect. And if you're looking for thanks, your foolish gaze is in the wrong direction. Now, go speak to Vacax again and get details on a mission that might be very satisfying for you. I'd do it myself if I could -- you must attempt to collect a scroll of great power. Also, there is an interesting test of perseverance you must overcome in the temple. You'll need to speak to Aleeth Zyrv for particulars. And also speak to Aleeth who is pursuing Volkara in Tirranun's Delve.

You have received a character flag!

Next, speak with Officer Vacax Rol`Tas to be assigned a group mission:

- The Gilded Scroll

You'll also need to complete two progression raids from Captain Aleeth Zyrv:

- Volkara's Bite (6-42 players)
- Trial of Perseverance (6-24 players)

Loot "Goblin Warlord's Beads" from the warlord in the "Trial of Perseverance", and loot "Lava Spider Spinners" from Volkara in "Volkara's Bite". Hand in these two items to Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar:

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar says 'Such a wonder that you're forever returning here like a rat looking for scraps. Though your reek is foul, your work has earned you more power from Lanys' great magic. There will be more work for you if you've adequately proven yourself.'

You have received a character flag!

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar says 'And so Norrath's Keepers loses to our greatness once again. You've given me and Lanys plenty to mull over and snicker about. Your service to the Dark Reign has been painful, but satisfying to me. Continue to serve and we will reward you well.'

You have received a character flag!

You get 1-2 AAs and the Special AA "Embrace of the Dark Reign" (increases buff slot limit by one).

Tier 4: Power of the Dark Reign

In order to continue on in Tier 4, you must, again, have kindly faction. Hail Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar for another flag:

You say, 'Hail, Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar'

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar says 'The path through the temples and mountains is fraught with danger. We have lost many who have gone on expeditions thus far. As you seem willing -- and pestering -- it's now your turn. Go speak to Aleeth. These assignments are not for the faint of heart and you hold the reputation of the Dark Reign in your hands -- something I will not tolerate being sullied. In the temple, you will need many allies to overcome Shogurei, the Guardian of the Sands. With a smaller force, you may be able to accept the challenge issued by the goblins of Thundercrest Isle. The audacity of challenging us, the army of the Child of Hate, is beyond me, but go!'

You have received a character flag!

Now, you'll need to complete two progression raids from Captain Aleeth Zyrv:

- Guardian of the Sands (6-42 players)
- Goblin Dojo (6-24 players)

Loot "Quintessence of Sand" and "Meditation Stone" from those two raids (respectively), and give them to Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar:

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar says 'What of it? If you expect a dark elf of my stature to kowtow to you, your mind is seething with delusions. I suppose someone may ask me to reward you should you continue to prove yourself.'

You have received a character flag!

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar says 'Once again you exceeded my expectations, but I still find your manner deplorable. There is something about you that leads me to think you believe you are better than the rest of us. I suppose we shall see, shan't we? And you will likely have your chance to [prove] it. Shogurei's essence did reveal some secrets. He was gifted with the power of wind and storm, a magic bestowed upon it by the dragon of Thundercrest Isles. Now we know the magic the dragon holds, but we must send you to set eyes upon her.'

You say, 'How should I prove it?'

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar says 'Lanys T`Vyl and the rest of the Dark Reign grow more powerful by the day and our work becomes ever more important to continue this glorious trend. Lereh has some difficult employment for you, most notably a confrontation with the dragon of [storms].'

You have received a character flag!

You say, 'What dragon of storms?'

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar says 'Yar`Lir is perhaps the most powerful dragon known to our kind. Your work thus far has indicated to us, especially through the scrolls gathered from the temple, that Yar`Lir is the dragon responsible for casting a veil of magic and storms over the Nest to protect it from view and keep it hospitable for the wyrms. We want you to [kill] her. Lereh knows the path to Yar`Lir.'

You say, 'Why should I kill her?'

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar says 'You must kill her to disrupt her magic and weaken the area. Soon, we shall rule the dragons and Norrath, and this is but a step on that path. This is one dragon that you must defeat before you are allowed to learn more of our knowledge of this place and to consider you a soldier of the Dark Reign. There is more than just her to defeat as well, which I will inform you of if you defeat the dragon of storms. You must return and give me one of her fangs.'

Now, speak with General Lereh Dirr to request another progression raid:

- An End to the Storms (6-54 players)

Loot "Yar'lir's Fang" from this raid, and hand it to Commander Zaerr Ty'Dar:

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar says 'Some might show you gratitude for your achievements, but I shan't. Lanys Y`Vyl has once again allowed you a greater touch of the magic of Hate. If I deem you worthy, I may have more work for you.'

You have received a character flag!

You get 1-2 AAs + the Special AA "Power of the Dark Reign" (increases critical melee/magical attacks and heals).

If this is a server-first, completion of Tier 4 opens up The Accursed Nest (previously locked to everyone) on your server.

Tier 5: Fervor of the Dark Reign

In order to continue on in Tier 5, you must have at least high warmly faction (770). Speak with Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar:

You say, 'Hail, Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar'

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar says 'I suppose, as much as it makes my stomach turn, I can say you've earned my respect. It is no small feat to kill a dragon, and one of Yar`Lir's caliber. Not only that, but the death of Yar`Lir has caused a significant upheaval in the Nest and we're unclear as to why. Figuring that out is now your job. There is some evil at work there and we need to know what it is... so perhaps we can work with it. Officer Vacax has a job for you -- to ambush a group of meddlers who are attempting to obtain information ahead of us. You will need to speak with Aleeth about a creature named Ju`rek and bring me evidence of your success.'

You have received a character flag!

Next, speak with Officer Vacax Rol`Tas for a group mission:

- Rival Party

You'll also need to complete another progression raid from Captain Aleeth Zyrv:

- The Curse of Ju'rek (6-24 players)

Loot "Diseased Wing Fragment" from this raid, and hand it to Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar:

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar says 'From the first days when you were collecting ingredients for us, I would have never have expected you to come so far. While you do not rival my power, you have come as close as any -- and without so annoying me that I ran you through with my blade. The moment you killed the [dragon] of the storms, the Nest below was indeed weakened and the grim dragon of the Nest was awakened and angered.'

You say, 'What dragon?'

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar says 'Our rogues caught a glimpse of that dragon in the Nest and it appeared to be a dragon like Yar`Lir, but is no longer. It has been affected somehow, twisted and embroiled by shadow. You must go find it and kill it, at all costs. There is so much to learn and one last trophy to claim for Lanys T`Vyl, the child of Hate. Bring me Vishimtar's shadowy scale.'

Finally, speak with General Lereh Dirr for the last raid event:

- In the Shadows (6-54 players)

Loot "Shadowscale of Vishimtar" from this raid, and hand it in to Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar to finish off your progression:

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar says 'It has been a long journey, _____. For the last time, the Child of Hate offers you the greatest power of Hate that a mere mortal can tolerate. You have served the Dark Reign well.'

You get 1-2 AAs and the Special AA "Fervor of the Dark Reign" (increases spell resist caps).

Finished

You say, 'Hail, Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar'

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar says 'You have done what most could not. From what we can piece together from the scrolls, the minds of the kirins obtained for us, and the death of Yar`Lir, there has been another that has brought a remarkable [darkness] over the Nest. As much as the Dark Reign would enjoy the credit, we cannot claim this great disruption.'

You have received a character flag!

You say, 'What darkness?'

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar says 'Yar`Lir was Vishimtar's mate, another dragon of storms. Together, the two of them used their magic to veil the Nest. When Yar`Lir was killed and the magic veil interrupted, an incredible and delightful event took place. A [dormant curse] in the Nest was brought to life that destroyed the eggs of the Nest and turned many of the creatures within it, including Vishimtar. He was not killed by the curse, but corrupted and made more powerful than any dragon we have ever seen!'

You say, 'What about the dormant curse?'

Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar says 'What remains a mystery is the source of the curse. Someone or something was able to get into the Nest before any of us were able to... somehow. We will not rest until we learn the origins of that curse, for the magic that created it is certainly one we ought to have on our side, wouldn't you say? For now, your work with us is complete and we have all agreed to reward you well for all you've done in the name of Lanys T`Vyl and the outpost. You may now safely and indisputably call yourself one of the Dark Reign.'

I've tried this mission twice now, and both times, killed the keepers, then went hunting for the eggs. but both times after about 3 hours of killing everything that moved, we only had 1 egg drop. if anyone knows anything about this mission, I'd appreciate any suggestions.

I've done this mission two nights in a row. Both times I was at 5/6 eggs and ran out of time at the 6 hour mark. I have a solid party that I bot, with plenty of DPS. I made 12 AA over the course of the 6 hours, if that tells you about the speed I went and the amount of mobs I killed....

SOE needs to fix the drop rate, this is VERY frustrating to fail simply because the drop rate sucks and I run out of time.

We did this one last night (Sept 2) and it takes a while since the drop rate is awfull, uncommon at the very best. Got the first two drops fairly quickly, then it took some 2.5 hours more to find the other four.

Just hang in there and you'll find them. At least xp is okay ;o)

Okay I did this last night. I couldn't find any walk thru for it... so here it is.

Our first group make up. All 70

Cleric Berserker Warrior Bard Ranger Chanter.

We wiped three times to adds at the entrance because the bard was EBAY and had admittedly been playing only 3 days.

We learned some important info.
1. Cleric Goblins can gate.
2. When they do gate, they dont always go to the same spot they usually bring 2-3 friends.
3. The mobs are kitable.
4. All caster mobs see invis (shaman, cleric, evoker)
5. Placate (Highest level cleric pacify) works but if resisted will get bukoo aggro.

Second group make up-

Cleric Berserker Warrior Ranger Chanter Monk. All 70

Monk had very little problems single pulling. He did such with style and ease. The Cleric ended up DPSing most of the fights.. with single pulls the Goblins never got the tank under 80% health without heals. Would Throw on a HoT every couple fights.

You are going to head north, straight north from entrance to get to the named Goblin Taskmaster.

Clearing the drakes. Even though you can invis past them I suggest killing them all. This courtyard is a great pulling area and has room to kite if you dont have someone to mez adds.

There are only about 5-8 Drakes and they respawn something around 18 minutes giving us plenty of time to clear the first corridor and move past.

In each square corridor you have 1 goblin on each side, and 4 total in each corridor, with usually 2 guarding each entry/exit and 1-2 roamers.

There are 8 possible goblins on each of the 2 corridors, hard to see and hard to target without getting aggro from at least 4 of them.

Don't try running through them invis. Just don't.

To make this simple. Just have a good puller that can split. Take your time. Kill them one by one and walk it through. If you kill your way through you should be able to clear to the giant courtyard with few problems.

The Giant Courtyard in the middle of the zone is a breeze... Just go straight up the middle. Perhaps three kills and you can bypass all the mobs on the side.

You go through the next corridor and you will have the taskmaster at the end of it. This sucker has no less than 150k HP. He did about 1/3 more damage than a normal Goblin, but aside from the long time it took to kill him, he was a push over. We were never in any risk of losing this battle.

Kill the Guards. If that wasn't enough... you now have to fight your way back to zone dealing with repops.

Here you need to kill 9 guards that have spawned. You will take the exact same route and use the exact same single pull method.

My biggest suggestion is to NEVER stop in a corridor on your way back, always pull to the front or back of one or to the giant courtyard. But things can get hairy with respawns in the corridors.

After you've killed the final guard you can just zone it's over.

This took us 2 and a half hours total. We lost an hour and a half with the first failed group with 3 wipes. Then we took 1 hour with a good puller and did it right.

Now that I know the mission I could probably do it in 30-40 minutes. The mobs were super simple kills as long as single pulled.

I completed this tonight thanks to my son and his
guildes. Great post astrokick the only thing i can add is when you kill the named taskmaster there are about 9 adds that need to be mezzed because the name takes some time to kill. This was the third time i had tried this DOn. All in the group where 70 but me 68 necro. still do not have the faction to move on to next step but will kill guards to help with that I like killing guards lol....

At the time of this post, one thing that isn't made clear -- is that the "progression" is a faction progression. Each Tier of the progression is a faction gain (Tier 1 = Indiff, Tier 2 = Amiable, etc.).

You must be Level 65 as well.

It also appears that if you do one of the "final" tier missions in advance (that do not require you do a turn in) with someone else -- you are credited with it and do not have to do it again. Example -- I did "Have Note Will Travel" with a Guildie long before I was Indifferent. After I made Indifferent -- and did the 3 tasks -- I recieved the free AA and Ability without having to do it again.

Further -- I was not the person who looted the note -- so it appears the whole group get credit.

Lastly -- the only reward listed here is the Cleric spell (as of this typing). I know Paladins get their Level 69 Tome as well.

You will need to have sufficient people on the right faction grouped to get it. Best way to do is for you to drop from the group, then group leader invites you again - before you accept the group invite, go and right-click the quest giver. You should see "Drake Egg" listed. Now Join the group, then Accept the mission.

It seems you need at least 3 characters and an average group level of 68 to get this Mission.
Level dependant
# May 10 2005 at 3:23 AM Rating: Decent
I believe that once you reach indifferent faction, you cannot advance further until you make it to level 65 (or perhaps 64.) I'm level 63 right now, just made indifferent faction, and Commander Zaerr Ty'Dar says "Your skill and experience suggests you are barely qualified to polish my boots! Be gone from my sight, foolish weakling! Should you ever grow up, then maybe I'll look in your direction again."

I'm guessing its level 65, since level 64 would just be kind of an... odd... level to set it at. I'll update this again later when I can get missions.
RE: Level dependant
# May 15 2005 at 11:32 PM Rating: Decent
Just to confirm, I tried again at level 64, no go, but level 65 he gave me the tasks. So, you can work on your faction before 65, but you can't work on progression until you hit 65.

I have "good" characters that I multibox. I would like one to get evil faction so it can get evil adventures. Is that even possible, or is a good character always kos in an evil camp?

Frustrated

I think I need some help with this too if I am going to continue to work the DoN progression. It seems that prior to the server mergers (Povar and Morden Rasp mergeed I believe it was the 11th of April) it seems that a few of my guildies were working DoN progression/faction quite nicely.

Since then, I, a Human Paladin, have taken the advice of some of my friends and have focued most of my non-raiding time on doing Evil DoN tasks and missions (when those with the correct faction are on and will have me). Our guild decided to do the Evil faction, which means most of us have a bit more work to do than working the Good side. I started out what I believe was Apprehensive to the Good side and I know for a fact that I was "Threatengly" to the Evil side.

So far to get from Threatengly to Dubious - I did 2 Spider Web collect tasks, 2 Drake Blood collect tasks and was part of the "Have note will travel" mission.

Since then i ahve done 0 Spider Web collect tasks, 4 Drake Blood collect tasks, 1 Kill 20 stillmoon creatures task, 8 Drake Egg missions (side benefit of doing all this is the crystals for gear ) and killed 2 Good guards in my spare time. I have been keeping CLOSE tabs on all the faction hits (wanting and have been getting Evil faction) and rewards for each thing I have done. My question is - what does it take as far as number of missions/tasks to move from dubious to apprehensive to indifferent?

I have talked with a number of friends and guildies that have made it to indifferent and some others that are amiable. All feel that the amount of work I have done should at LEAST get me to apprehensive if not to indifferent by now. I understand that race plays a slight bearing on your "starting" point, but even Elf Druids and Human Bards should start at the same place as I.

One note to this is that I have done only 3 of the 4 different evil tasks available at the Wayfarer's camp. Do i have to complete all 4 at least once or is there something else at play here?

Thank you and frustrated,

I think something many people fail to take into consideration is Diety. I have seen people doing task after task and they could be the same level/class as the next person but thier diety may be different and it seems that they can't get the faction together. I would really be insterested to know if there were factions such as before the expansion re:Firiona vie that may have made a difference on where people started from. At any rate it might just be a matter of diety thats holding you up. I strongly suggest pushing out missions when you can and not just doing solotask, make sure you are turning in all your lil globe doodads and stick with it. Paladins are really good tanks for don as all mobs but the red named are susceptible to our stuns so hopefully you won't have too much trouble getting groups.

Good Luck

I cleared the whole zone and no emote or named. I looted 4 Labor and inventory documentation and 2 each of Expended scroll of dissolution, and Expended scroll of deadly shock. They all dropped off trash. I have not seen any emote or anything and have been sitting in an empty zone for over an hour. Any ideas what I did wrong?

I had to lev over a huge door to get to one of the Kirin, after they were all dead nothing, so that was when I cleared the rest of the zone. Any help would be appreciated.

The level listed here to begin the Wayfarer Mercenary Faction tasks is wrong. My SK is 45.22 and neither Varien or Limann will give a task..

"Volkara’s Bite" -- 42-player raid in Lavaspinner's Lair, results in Lava Spider Spinners

You go into Lavaspinner's lair and go to where the broodmother spawns in there, thats where volk is. She is on top of the platform, 80% 60% 40% 20% and 10% she will spawn egg sacks, you must kill them within like 30 seconds or the ones not killed will spawn 4-6 babies each.

Volk also has an poison ae that hurts bad if you cant resist it, it is easy to cure. Also she only hits for 1k or so so pretty easy mob just need the dps to focus on killing egg sacks when they spawn.

She drops 9 progression pieces and 2 loots, the loots arnt that good though =(

Question: Did my first DoN task(evil) last night, "Spider's Webs". Reward was 30pp, no crystals were awarded....were they supposed to be? Or at what point will i be able to do tasks for crystals? Or am i just way off? Any help would be appreciated.

I should mention that it was a single player task from Wayfarer camp, not Dark reign camp.

To my knowledge, you never get crystals from solo tasks; just faction, money, and experience. In order to get crystals, you need to be on a mission or raid that involves going into an instanced DoN zone.

"Army of Stone" -- Loot five Animated Guardian Essences from Stillmoon Temple
"Blood from Sand" -- Loot seven Impure Goblin Bloods from Stillmoon Temple

Zone in kill the first few mobs at the zone in and invis take all lefts, When you get to the elbow before the click up to the second part of the zone stop and start killing mobs, there should be 2 drakes next to a rock, the egg drops from one of them. "Calling Emoush" -- 24-player raid in Tirranun's Delve, results in Glowing Stone Fragment

Zone in and kill straight to the back, He has 3 mystics you have to kill before you are able to attack emoush. What my guild does is we offtank all 3 mystics to 5% or so then we burn all 3 and pull emoush, we kill emoush fast as we can because you only get about 3 minuits before the mystics respawn and you have to kill them again.

"The Gilded Scroll" -- single-group mission

You need to kill all kirins in the zone to get the scroll to drop then you have to keep killing mobs till you get an emote, the named will spawn and walk from near the zone in up the ramp, kill it and turn the scroll into a person in lava.

Also note that anyone at that stage in progression will get credit for "have note will travel" upon completion. So, you can get your friends together that are at that stage and all complete it at once.

I believe it is called The Broodlands. Good quest also has the same zone mentioned

You say, 'Hail, Wayfarers Mercenary Limann'
Wayfarers Mercenary Limann says 'Me and me sister have got a great thing going here. We easily can play both sides of the fence with these camps and earn a good amount of coin. As long as neither knows we are relations, we can continue this forever! I've been bringing tokens of the Dark Reign to them and they seem to enjoy getting them, and pay us fairly well. So, if you give me one, I will be able to spin a tale that will put you in a favorable light.'

You will get faction hits for:
+Dark Reign
+Lanys T`Vyl
-Norrath's Keepers
-Firiona Vie

Good vs Evil
# Mar 16 2005 at 12:22 PM Rating: Decent
Be sure and check your starting faction vs the two camps before you let your good natured friends sway you away from the dark side.

FACTION:
Ready to Attack = -2800 to -801
Threateningly = -800 to -501
Dubiously = -500 to -101
Apprehensive = -100 to -1
Indifferent = 0 to 99
Amiable = 100 to 499
Kindly = 500 to 699
Warmly = 700 to 1099
Ally = 1100 to 2800

I have a few questions.

1. On the "Have note will travel" I believe I did this with a single group. I was invited and didn't know how all this worked. At the end I got a Dark reign token and ebon crystals. My question is about the Letter to Tirranun.
How many drop ? If only one drops can the whole group chit chat with the Commander Z and score the 2-AA's or do we need to ninja loot our own letter for the 2-AA score?

2. Calling Emoush 24 player raid. Does the whole raid get a glowing stone fragment if you win or just the top raid guy who has the mission score the fragment and AA's and Aug and 69th spell/tome?

Have Note Will Travel:

Boss name = Goblin Task Master
Kills: At least 27. I was the group's puller, so was out of range of a few of the "mob has been slain" messages. Probably a round number like 30 or 35.

The item to be looted is a "Letter from Tirranun"

After this is looted, you have to kill 9 "A Delve guard"s on the way back to the zonein of the instance. Only one person needs to zone out via the door, so after you kill the 9 Guards (which are all on the way back towards the zonein in clumps of 3,) have someone kamikaze run or flop back to zonein if you have a porter in the group.

After that, just turn in the note to the NPC it tells you to (sorry, don't have the name,) and you win.

RE: Updates
# Mar 14 2005 at 1:11 AM Rating: Decent
There is no need to turn in Tirranun's Note at the end of this mission. It needs to only be looted and then the proper npc needs to be hailed in order to get the ability. This mission also grants 2 AA's which is not listed.

Quick question on “Have note will travel” quest. I've done this quest twice now and I'm still not getting credit for the quest. When I hail the commander I’m not receiving a character flag and I’m getting the same quest over again. My faction with the dark reign is indifferent right now. I even have the note still in my bag. What am I missing? Thanks.
