Ancestral Vah Shir Armor

You say, 'Hail, Vuro Padfoot'

Vuro Padfoot says 'Hello, ______. Returning from Norrath? It fills me with pride to see there are still Vah Shir willing to venture off this moon and restore our foothold on [Norrath] once again.'

You say, 'Norrath?'

Vuro Padfoot says 'From what I have heard, things were much different back when we lived on the planet. I have been studying the writings transcribed from before our kind was blasted from the face of Norrath. They are helping me piece together the [techniques] of our ancestors.'

You say, 'What techniques?'

Vuro Padfoot says 'From what I have learned, our craftsmanship has regressed over the years. Our relative lack of competition from other races has made us docile and lazy on this moon. In fact, I've uncovered some forgotten [armor patterns] and a few [cultural symbol patterns] that put our current designs to shame. Would you be interested in learning these ancient patterns? They will take time to craft, but, if you are patient, they will serve you well.'

You say, 'I am interested in learning the armor patterns.'

Vuro Padfoot says 'Excellent. To make you a pattern book, I will need a piece of shadeling silk for the cover, a glowing heart stone for the ink, a cracked rhino beetle carapace for the clasp, and a damaged hopper hide to grind down and make a salve which will protect and preserve the finished product. I have heard these items can be found around Shadeweaver's Thicket and the Paludal Caverns. Bring them to me and the armor patterns of our ancestors will be yours.'

The Glowing Heart Stone drops only from A Glowing Muck Digger in Paludal Caverns. The rest are common drops in Shadeweaver's Thicket. Hand in the items.

Vuro Padfoot says 'Excellent work, ______. Here is your pattern book. May you use this to restore the standing of our race across Norrath!'

Vuro Padfoot says 'You're interested in the cultural symbol patterns I see. I can give you the cultural symbol patterns but I will need you to run a few tasks for me before I can give them to you. What do you say: would you like to run a few short [tasks] for me?'

You say, 'What tasks?'

Vuro Padfoot says 'I have four tasks that need to be completed. The first is an adventure into [Paludal Caverns] where you will collect some items for a cap that I'm making. The next, you will be tasked with venturing into [Dawnshroud] where you hunt for some ingredients that I seem to be missing for my feast. The third task leads you into [The Grey] where you will gather some jewelry supplies for me. The final task will lead you on an adventure into [Stillmoon temple] where you will learn about the creatures that inhabit the area.'

I know they can be found in Paludal. Venture into Paludal Caverns and explore the owl bear cave in the east side of the caverns.'

You should travel to the Lavastorm Mountains and meet up with one of our operatives. There you will get further information on where you can enter the temple at.'

"Flagging" is a label that tells EQ that you've completed a trial,allowing you the ability to go somewhere or do something you weren't able to before the "flag". The most common "flag" is quest-given and usually opens new zones you couldn't go to before. But other "flags" are level-specific locks(such as Plane of Tranquility zone you have to be like level 46 to enter I believe).

I found my Glowing muckdigger for the glowing heart stone in PC going through the Hollowshade Moor entrance, it sits right on shore before the first lake you come to very soon after you zone in.

OK for the GM Part Which Instanced Mission did you do and what zone I attempted to get to the Kirins in the Ascent usinf Death comes swiftly, and to my surprise I couldn't click myself to the area where the Kirin's were. i was locked out. Which task would allow u to get to that part of the zone?

His name is Vuro Padfoot by the way, not Paddedfoot. He's located near the south gate, and you can use the Find feature to locate him.
tattered wolf pelt

You loot 4 Tattered wolf pelts for Expert. Dropped for me 7 out of 50 kills. Noticed that it didnt drop off of just a wolf. It needed to be a blood thirsty wolf or some other "XX wolf" Pelts are NOT no drop and thus bazaarable, but you have to kill so many wolves that you are likely to get 4 just doing the kills. I found more wolves near the entrance to the NL zone, to the SE around the stonegrabbers, and there is a spot near a camp SW of the NL zl there they hide between some of the rocks. Occationally I was able to find one in the big valley straight south of the zl but not often. I killed Zelnaks for fun hoping they were PH for wolves. I didnt notice a significant increase if they were.

Yes 4 tattered pelts are required but as the task states you HAVE to loot the pelts not buy so why waste your time in Baz when it's not going to do you any good. I had about 8 drop total and used a ranger to pull for me. Was much easier with a tracker available. Only downside was the entire zone found it odd and started killing wolves too. Guess they thought the drops had some extra value they could use. Yes there are no placeholders for the wolves they are on a timer was killing too much to make note of it but there should always be one available for the killing.

Found Glowing Heartstone just inside main cavern from Shadeweavers zone in. (Dont go in to PC from Shadowhaven, like I did, go in thru Shadeweavers) The Glowing Muck Digger was under water in the lake closest to the tunnel that goes to Shadeweavers. Glad I had my tracker with me. This was the only part that was a pain. Rest of quest is easy. If your low level, dont try and kill the hoppers. Just go to the baz and pick one up for 1pp. (one on Bert right now for 1silver!)

Oh BTW, its easier to jump down in the pit in Shar Vahl and kill silk worms there for a silk than it is to get them in the Shadeweavers. If your farming for shade silk, the newby pit is far more productive in number of silks per hour.

and yes, it was much easier, the corner they are in seems to be a safe spot and they are spaced out around the lake so they can be single pulled. soloed easily with 61 shammy

not sure second part of task as i still have 5 shimmering rockfiends to kill, unfortunately, they despawn quickly and even with a tracker it takes a while. also have been having problems with bad pulls and trains. seems there are also some mobs that summon in the zone...all in all its been great fun :-)

The second part of the task is easier than the first.

Kill 5 Sun Revenants and loot one Dark Skeleton Remains. The Sun Revenants are a static spawn near the lake in the northwest so finding them isn't a problem. They have quite a few more HP than the rockfiends but are easily handled if you go in expecting that.

The Dark Skeleton Remains seemed a little on the rare side as I had to kill almost 20 Sun Revenants to get one to drop but that just may be my lousy luck.

You'll finish the second part of the task in 1/4 of the time it took to kill all the rockfiends.

The nice part of killing the Revenants is that you may also pick up your Luclin shard that you need for the Vex Thal key. If you happen to get it to drop, loot that dude and save it.

Great info...just have two questions..... 1.Which forge is the cultural forge???? I've found 4 forges but I can't make any combines in any of them......
2. How do I make the cultural sewing kit? The Vale Sewing Kit was easy,but the Shar Vahl one doesn't seem to combine in any of the 4 forges I've located in Shar Vahl.

The cultural forge is in the main blacksmithing bldg (#7 on eqatlas map) near Master Barkhem, at /loc -177, 200. As of right now, it still only says 'forge' nothing about being cultural.

Solved my problems. I was at the wrong owlbear camp. Make sure you're at the one closest to Shadeweaver's Thicket.

You're not gonna like this, sounds like you might be bugged on that one.

1 Talk to Vuro about Paludal Caverns
2 go to Owl Bear Cave, get flagged. (I got flagged as I walked into it)
3 Kill 20 owlsbears
4 Loot 4 damaged owlbear hides
5 Turn hides into Vuro
6 go back to Paludal Caverns this time to bandits camps, get flagged (I got flagged walking up to Camp 1 from SH)
7 Kill 10 bandits (There was grp at cmp 1 so I went to camp 2 and killed there)
8 Loot 1 recondite Insignia Ring
9 Give ring to Vuro he gives you book to make Journeyman Level Symbols


Vuro is localted able via the find commmand. He is on the second floor of the housing just north of fishing supply merchant in the middle room of the housing complex.

Note: The Owlbear and Bandit killings are can not be done at the same time, as you do not get rewards for kiling bandits unitl you get flagged, and you can't get flagged till you're allowed to turn in the 4 damaged owlbear pelts, which you can do only after killing 20 owlbears in PC, and looting 4 damaged owlbear pelts. You can not simple obtain them from a vendor you must loot them from a dead owlbear in PC. I tried HS owlbears, no go.

Trade skill quest

The NPC's name is V---- paddedfoot. Forgot the name. Is locatable by find. Look for trade skill quests. For the expert- (Dawnshroud peaks)
1. Find the cooking utensils. NE lake at ZI
2. Kill 50 wolves ( any kind )
3. Loot the tattered pelts
4. Turn in the tattered pelts into the Quest NPC in shar vahl
5. Return to DSP and kill 5 stone grabbers
6. Loot a boulder
7. Return to VS and give it to the same NPC guy
and in return get the http://www.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=34034. Hope this helps
