Sieeva Koan says 'Hello, _____. Returning home from conquests abroad, I hope. It fills me with pride to see there are still Iksar willing to venture out into Norrath and crusade for our empire once again. Too many of us have holed up in this city, dreaming of the [glory] days of the Iksar empire.'

You say, 'Glory days?'

Sieeva Koan says 'From what I have heard things were much different then, our military more refined, our craftsmanship more detailed. I have been studying the writings in the ruins of old Cabilis. They are helping me piece together the [techniques] of our ancestors.'

You say, 'What techniques?'

Sieeva Koan says 'From what I have learned, our craftsmanship has regressed over the years. In fact, I've uncovered some armor patterns and symbol patterns within the ruins that put our current designs to shame. Would you be interested in learning the [cultural armor patterns] and [cultural symbol patterns]? They will take time to master, but if you are patient, they will serve you well.'

You say, 'I am interested in learning the cultural armor patterns'

Sieeva Koan says 'Excellent. To make you a pattern book I will need a patch of bloodgill scales for the cover, a scroll for the pages, a bloodstone ring for the clasp, and a cat's eye agate to grind down and make a salve which will protect and preserve the finished product. I have heard these items can be found in the Swamp of No Hope and the Lake of Ill Omen. Bring them to me and the pattern book shall be yours.'

You say, 'What about the cultural symbol patterns?'

Sieeva Koan says 'You're interested in the cultural symbol patterns I see. I can give you the symbol patterns but I will need you to run a few tasks for me before I can give them to you. What do you say; would you like to run a few short [tasks] for me?'

You say, 'What tasks?'

Sieeva Koan says 'I have four tasks that need to be completed. The first is an adventure into [Lake of Ill Omen] where you will collect some shields for my shield collection. The next you will be tasked with venturing into the [Dreadlands] where you will confront any clans that are preventing us from doing buisness. The third task leads you into [Sebilis] where you will learn if there is any weakness in Trakanon's army. The last task will lead you onto an adventure into [Thundercrest] where you will learn about the creatures that inhabit the area.'

Artisan Sieeva Koan, doesn't respond to saying "Underground". But saying or clicking on "cultural symbol patterns" brings up a list of quest's. Darkhollow geode is the last one in the list.

With the changes to cultural armor you need to purchase the books from historians to the left of the library ent in pok. as for the books i assume the molds/patterns are the same and come from the same quest giver but i am still checking.

Agreed, I am need of one of the smithing intricate recipes as well. They kind of goofed things when they made it so you have to have a certain trivial to see the recipes after having to pay for the books to get them in the first place IMHO.

Hail All, hoping to try to get some order to the chaos in understanding all the DoN armor stuff here. Over my exploring of many sites and references I have noticed different names bing given out for the same race of cultural symbol books. For example you see for Tier 1 the book referred to as Journeymen's Book in the main posting here and on other posting when actually ingame it is called Blessed Book of Iksar Culture. Are these Journeyman, Expert, Masters, ect. just a general name for each tier lvl?

Also I have seen different postings of different quest to get the same book of same culture. For example above it says:

I am lvl 61 when receiving this quest, so was wondering does it issue different quest for the same book based on your level? In other words would a lvl 35 get the same quest as me at lvl 61 for the same tier of the symbols book?

the book is based on what quest you chose. Blessed is the lowest. It's the same quest whether or not you are level 20 or 60. The reason you have seen different postings of different quest to get the same book of same culture is because they recently Changed ALL the cultural quests, and renamed the symbols/armors. So the "blessed" quest replaces the old Journeyman quest. All races have 4 cultural armor quests, + the quest for the ancentral book.

Though there is a certain consistency to them, there is also a level of on the spot inspiration needed when making the symbols. I will give you a book that you can use as a basis for the symbol patterns if you can prove your ability to seek inspiration. Take as many of the tasks I offer you as you wish too. During these tasks you will make impressions of certain things that you find in the impression book I will give you. This magical book can make impression of objects with depth to them or just of the pattern on the surface of an object. What do you say; would you like to run a few short tasks for me?'

When you receive each task a book will appear named [Task level] Impression Book on your cursor. This is where your impressions are taken. There is no loot you'll be grabbing off of mobs. On each kill there is a chance an emote will fire saying you've taken an impression. You MUST have the book with you to get this message and task update.

I've gotten them off several mobs in many of the old world and kunark zones. Lavastorm, Swamp of No Hope, LOIO, etc. It's a trash drop off a lot of different low lvl mobs.

Nice, but how does a level 25 start this quest when the mobs you gotta kill are 35 to 38? They do realize a level 15 can wear the Journeyman right?

This is related to my post below - After trying a few things I found out my problem . It seems that the first thing you have to do is travel the whole length of the river from the FV zone to the lake ( that is Explore the Mouth of the Lake ) Then you can kill the 10 Pond Sturgeons and loot the Pondfish Spine -

I am on the Fennin Ro server and I am working on the the task where I kill 10 pond sturgeons and hand the pondfish spine in - I just handed the spine to her and she gave it back , something is wrong , it should have worked . I am still in the task and killed like 15 of the fish ... what gives??? .

Task given for Grandmaster's Book:
1) Kill 120 Thundercrest Isle creatures (must have 'Isle' in name)
2) Loot 80 Fractured Drake Claws
3) Return Drake Claws to Sieeva
4) Loot 1 Razor-sharp talon
5) Kill 10 Isle defenders (They MUST be the drake "an isle defender")
6) Turn in 1 razor-sharp talon to Sieeva
Receive Grandmaster's Book.

On part 2, i looted Talons out of the Nest and got credit for them (awesome AA XP there as well , 5% per kill)
