Hail, my fellow Iksar bretheren. I was haveing a little talk with another of my brood(Necromancer) and I was telling him i wanted to get some good faction with Neriak. He told me to do this quest first, then the Red Wine quest. What he also told me is that he started indiff or apreahensively to the DE in SRO. I havn't checked this out myself but once I hit lvl 20 you can expect to here this messege in EC alot."WTB GLS, send tells" :-)

I am a lvl 14 shammy and tried this quest. I gave the GLS over and NOTHING!! No faction, no XP. I gave a stone to each DE figuring I may have picked the wrong one and NONE worked. I guess my faction is not good enough for the quest. I did not try the invis trick. That may work. Oh well, 6 GLS down the drain!!

I killed some halflings along the way and finally got guard faction. 2 nights of buying and selling GLS. And got killed by Divn L'Crit in Neriak foreign quarter. You can avoid him by climbing the wall to the right at the pillar. He usually stays in the Hall of the Fallen, right behind the door. He is a shadow knight of TheDead faction. But I still need to get enough faction for inner guards.

The invis thing worked, i went from apprehensive to amible with just 17 light stones, (amible to the merchents) but i was threatenly still to the inner guards :( , Some npc named Divn L'crit killed me with some spell. i also noticed that from the enterance into neriack, you can con the 3 sisters up on the top wall. they were threatenly to my monk, and i havent had the chance to turn in more lightstones to the DE merchant.

I havea 20th iskar monk (follows Cazic Thule) I entered the 3rd gate with a DE chanter friend and tried to turn in the red wine, i was apprehensive atm , but even with the chanter casting alliance on him i was still not able to get the faction gain, but i was getting the xp gain ? I'll try the invis part in so ro, i was to nervous the 1st time running thru Neriack and haveing to FD when my invis dropped :p

Enchanter and Bard faction adjusting spells/songs are self only effects. They won't help anyone else raise faction.
Um, This was originally posted a very long time ago. If you still find that to be true, you should /bug it. I believe that the spell descriptions both say "group".
Use FD and or sneak when handing in and do it from behind them if you con indifferant hand it in

I found out how fianlly... I simply had to find someone to give her the GLS.. then give me the book.. which i am gonnatry to use now... we splitted the money for the other GLS I had. not too bad

I have Greater Light Stones, and I can turn them in to the gypsy in North Karana. I get a book from her, which for my paladin character is totally useless. I read that it sells for around 8pp, but I don't think the merchants pay that price so I'm guessing that the only way to get 8pp for that book is to sell it to another player. Can anyone verify that? Maybe there is a merchant that you can sell the book to who will pay 8pp for it, but I haven't run accross any such merchant yet.
Depending on your faction and charisma, merchants will pay that much.
HOWEVER, in my personal experience (now this was with the Karana Gypsies, not the Dark Elves) the merchant NEXT to the quest character paid me on average 6-11 gold MORE than the one I gave the stones to for the concordance.
It always pays to shop around. Even if it's the merchant right next to you.

I receive 8pp and 8 gold per book from the same gypsy that gave me the book. Make sure you sell it back (rightclick her first) and not just give it to her in trade screen.

Technically if you have good faction with nk merchants, you can sell the book to the gypsy that give it (I also use to get 10pp for it).

You killed the wrong person if you are dubious to your own race. Fortunately for you, there is a way to bring it back up but you will likely need some help. Read the section on the red wine quest which is in the Third Gate of Neriak. If you try to do this, likely you will get a response like, "Your reputation precedes you. You are no friend to the Dark Bargainers." However, if you get someone to invis you, then hand over the red wine but dont click trade, have them invis you again while the trade window is open and then press trade, it will work. Have fun searching for hours for someone who will invis you in the furthest zone in Neriak.

this quest sucks, im a dark elf, i ruined my faction with the merchants to dubious and i cant raise it in any way, killing halflings doesnt bring it up, turning the stuff in the smith doesnt work, she hates me. Will they ever make a quest to raise dark bargainers faction, when your dubious ??

you and me in same boat i was tricked into grouping with a guard killer at lvl 1 now my merchants hate me. if that guy ever needs help though for him. the punk i didn't know about the wine questr and was thinking about going to freeport then i found out about the red wine quist and was mad about missing it but heard about the killing quest so i killed to biath and that was it for my merchants and the girl no take head made me mad.

Anyone who is NOT KOS can do this quest. An LS or a GLS give the same amount of faction and Exp. The Merchant in SRO is SMITH T'Vsya (not too sure of the spelling of the last name - look for the first name of SMITH)
Try 1 LS if you do not get faction and XP you will need help from a player who can invis you. CHA gear makes no differance.
To do this with an invis - hand her the lightstones 1,2,3,or 4 makes no difference other than you are getting the XP and faction per lightstone. BEFORE you hit the GIVE button get your partner to Invis you then hit give you will get XP and faction your partner (if still grouped) will get XP only - no faction.
This Quest works great for faction and since a recent patch you get Dread guard inner and outer faction EVEN IF your Dark Bargainers faction is maxed - I should know my Halfling Druid now has Allied faction with the Dark Bargainers. And FYI he started Dubious and handed in about 120 lightstones to get to the point where he could hand them in without an Invis, I guess he was about as close to KOS with the Dark Bargainers as you get without actually being there.
All the other tricks don't seem to make a differance - I tried tree form, wolf form etc before the invis trick none of them did any good but the invis does work.

I am a DE mage. I handed a LS to Smith T'Vysa and she gave me a concordance book in return. Should I just sell the book right back to her?
I'm not sure the book is worth more than selling her a LS itself.
Or are there merchants in Neriak who will buy it (as some earlier posts suggest)? Or is that a different quest?

Ok, I went to S Ro. If this is the right person, it's Smyth somethin'. Well, she was appre to me, and I gave her a lightstone, and she said somethin about not wantin to deal with me. I don't know what to do, but I don't want to kill more greens for DE faction. I'll be happy with Dubious. This Quest sucks.

I am a 33rd season Iksar Necromancer, and I want to bank somewhere besides cabilis. I start out Threateningly to the guards in Nok, considering this, and that im an evil necromancer why not DE city? So I start out killing halflings, killed about 75 id say maybe 100 and got to dubious, (So happy the higher greens stoped attacking my pet)
So I'm like cool i should be able to walk in the city now, con the guards right outside city, dubious, go inside, con things on top of city and guards out front, dubious, walk past the 2 guards and someone I didnt see and didnt get a chance to conlays stuns me (no FD) next thing I know I've been slain after I writh in the grip of agony. My health bar still said 4 bubbles so im guessing this was a 50+ guard. Previous post says I should be ok except for 3rd gate, wondering why I'm still KoS and what I can do to fix this, wine quest is last resort. Any help would be appreciated.
Btw if ever in a similar situation with your pet wipeing out guards and stone guardians do following so you dont have to suicide your pet/get negative faction. fear, pull pet, wait till hes walked a little distance, screaming terror, make sure your out of agro range by the time it wears off. Screaming terror has always mem blured for me if im out of agro range, if in agro range half the time they come right for me after terror wears off

Im an Iksar monk and I am trying to better my faction with Neraik. I killed tons of halflings and now the guards outside of Neriak con amiable to me. However the 3 merchants con apprehensive to me, (thats better than KOS I know), but when I hail the merchant in the middle she doesn't say anything and when I giver her a lightstone it doesn't work. Do I have to give her more than 1 lightstone? What should I do this is very important for me to raise faction with the inner guards so I can freely travel Neriak.

Its for practicing research for all reasearching caster classes. Its a mostly broken "trade skill" and one that doesnt really help all that much. Just sell it and keep the cash for it.

I disagree on the "broken" trade skill, it helped my necromancer decrease her relyance on the training points (which can cost up to 10 plat per point trained) I personally try to keep my research maxed out.. you never know when that can help you combine some words, and get you a spell that you really need.

I tired this one with a 10th lvl Iksar monk to try and raise my faction. Conned apprehensive and she said she wouldn't help the likes of me. Very discouraging since at 10th lvl, running solo from Neriak to deliver these lightsones, is not very much fun.
Anyways, have a Wood Elf Bard now about to hit 11th lvl and get my faction song. With that song will it be enough for me to do this quest? I don't want to have to make that run again (especially on a PvP server since there are mostly evils around here) if there's no way to get the experience for it.

Actually the gypsy is in north karana. I can't remember her name, but it starts with a M. Those gypsies cover light races, and the ones in S. Ro take care of the dark races. Good luck at getting to NK alive at level 11.

Maybe it is not only faction, but also what class you are. I am an agnostic halfling rogue.
She wouldn't talk about the quest, so I sneaked behind her, and then I got her to ask for the lightstones.
Moving behind her again, I made sure that I got indifferent faction, but she still would not acknowledge me when I handed in a greater lightstone.
Could some dark elf rogue check whether she would respond more favorably to a rogue that has good faction?

Well I gave this a pretty good test, as a Half Elf Ranger of Tunare I was able to sneak behind her, hand in the stones for faction, and am now up to Warmly with her.
Just goes to show that a few bribes will make merchants trade with just about anyone.
I'm still KoS with every guard I've checked in Nektulos though, including the gate guards.

At 11th level, I went to see this Dark Elvish Smith. Wearing all my finest +CHA jewelry, I cast minor illusion on myself to void any racial biases and cast Alliance on her. She then conned amiable to me and was happy to sell me a Condordance of Research and 4 copies of book II of the instructions.
P.S. I have poked around Netkulos Forest and peeked in the front door of Neriak. I con dubious to the gate guards and casting Alliance does not change that.

Even a natural born dark elf is hated by dark elves if he kills his own kind. The same is true for dark elf illusions. An illusion can change your "base faction" only (the faction you'd get for your natural race). Illusions don't change your religious or earned factions.

I am a Woodelf rogue and follower of Bristlebane. Using the mask of deception I gave the smith the secret rogue handshake and handed her the lightstones. In return she gave the exp and faction adjustments. I started out the quest as threatening in dark elf disguise and after about 40 lightstones I am now amiable to the smith. Problem is I am still threatening to the dark elf guards in Nektulos. Hmmm. What's up with that?

This smith cons apprehensive to me and refuses to give reward for lightstones. What is best way to raise faction for Ogre shaman. Am hesitant to reenter Neriak, have been killed there 4 times already.

Bash da Halflin's! Bashin' halflin's in Nek Foresty-place gib gud faction with Dread Guards Outer, an' so dey not bash u annymore. (you'll still be KOS to the necro guild & the inner guard, which means so long as you stay on the ground & away from the 3rd zone of neriak (and the gate to it) you'll have the run of the city. I do! (ogre shm)

No easy way to fix this faction to get the quest. Easiest thing to do is get a high level enchanter to group with you and have him charm the smith. =)

Have your friend buy a bunch of red wine from the bauble in Neriak C, and run them inside the library to you. in the back of the library (again in Neriak C) there is a guy (I forget his name) with a pet (stands alone in a room with a sliding door, the room has a pillar in it). He is a necromancer as he has a skeleton pet. Anywho, by turning in red wine you'll raise your faction with him (and all the dark bargainers and dread guard inner/dread guard outer) -which are the same factions you'll get for the lightstones.
While invis, put 4 wines in each of the 4 trade window boxes, DO NOT CLICK TRADE. At this point tell your friend to re-invis you, after you're invis again, click trade, and he'll accept the wine. After turning in about 4 stacks of wine, you should have high enough faction where you don't need to invis anymore... after turning in roughly 30stacks of wine, you should be non-kos to MOST of the dark elf guards (excluding any based on the warrior guild faction).
As a side note, this does not raise your guild factions, nor does it raise the dead, after doing this Neriak is still not a nice place to visit, but at least you can turn in your lightstones. After you get to the point where you can turn in wine to the guy without invising, you should be able to go to SRo and hand in lightstones (though I figured, since I was already in neriak, I'd finish raising my guard faction, so I'm not absolutely sure).
One other thing of note is I see alot of people in EC/WC area auctioning "WTB greater lightstones and lightstones", I didn't bother with this. Again, with the help of a high level friend I got a port to NKarana and ran to the centaur merchant in SKarana. As the nearby treants drop tons of lightstones, if the server has been up for any amount of time, he should have at least 100 stones on him, come with alot of plat as the stones costed me 1.3plat each, you can buy fletching kits there to hold them in (which I prefered because I could simply combine the books I got in return rather than selling or destroying them individually).
Your friend can port you back to SRo, and watch your back as you turn in the lightstones, I've heard that you can get to 15 fairly easily with this quest, at level 12, I'm still getting half a blue bubble per lightstone (haven't tried a greater lightstone), so I'm apt to believe it.

As the nearby treants drop tons of lightstones, if the server has been up for any amount of time, he should have at least 100 stones on him, come with alot of plat as the stones costed me 1.3plat each, you can buy fletching kits there to hold them in (which I prefered because I could simply combine the books I got in return rather than selling or destroying them individually).
Your friend can port you back to SRo, and watch your back as you turn in the lightstones, I've heard that you can get to 15 fairly easily with this quest, at level 12, I'm still getting half a blue bubble per lightstone (haven't tried a greater lightstone), so I'm apt to believe it.

Ok, so I got the lightstones, I got wolf form, have all my cha gear on (83 pts) and I still can't get this hag to talk to me....any suggestions?
