This quest is no longer active. It ran from the week of 18 January 2005 to 26 January 2005 in preparation for the expansion, Dragons of Norrath.

------------------------------------

Within this quest, there are multiple subquests resulting in different turn-ins for various pieces of armor.

Armguards of Stealth

Taskmaster Goruk can be found in The Overthere near the portal to the Plane of Knowledge. He is a neutral-conning iksar skeleton.

Upon zoning into The Overthere you will be greeted with this message:

Taskmaster Goruk says 'Come! All those who honor our Lady Lanys T'Vyl, come forward and lend thy blade!'

You say, 'Hail, Taskmaster Goruk'

Taskmaster Goruk says 'How dare you approach me with your idle chatter when there is much to be done. The day is finally upon us for our dark princess, her power shall be known forever hence! Do you [serve] her?'

You say, 'Yes, I serve her'

Taskmaster Goruk says 'Lies and trickery most likely. I can see very well that you are of weak blood. Lanys T'vyl has no use for weaklings such as yourself. Do you dare to attempt a small piddling [task] for us? Any peon could take care of such a thing'

You say, 'I will attempt a task for you'

Taskmaster Goruk says 'Very well then. My sources have informed me of a set of military plans left in a guard tower within Firiona Vie. With our superior resources we certianly have no need for them, however it may be good to see and laugh at the folly of these infiltratiors. Bring it here.'

Head to Firiona Vie and find Military Plans, a ground spawn at location -2623, 3013, -94. Bring these plans back to Goruk.

Taskmaster Goruk says 'Hmmm, you may be on to someting here. This area may serve our army well. I do hope you weren't expecting commendation for such a menial task, but here... take this.'
You gain experience!

Receive Armguards of Stealth.

------------------------------------

Slippers of Silence

Upon zoning into the Dreadlands, you will be greeted with the following emotes:

Lieutenant Ny'Rae says 'Step it up, people! We have much to do before we march. Get up, you lazy oaf!'

Scout Anissa says 'If you're just wasting time out there on your own, come and lend a hand why don't you.'

Assassin Meerlock says 'Did you see that? We must find him I can't move...'

Lieutenant Ny`Rae can be found at location +144, +4938, +1133.

You say, 'Hail, Lieutenant Ny`Rae'

Lieutenant Ny`Rae says, 'Who dares to address me directly? Are you some [peon] assisting our army?

You say, 'I am a peon...'

Lieutenant Ny'Rae says 'At least you know your place. Why do you have no task? There are plenty of things [to do] around here. You must be lazy and unworthy of my time. Tell me, are you?'

You say, 'Things to do?'

Lieutenant Ny`Rae says 'Just last night I caught sight of a spy lurking nearby. He was careless to let me see him, and for that he does not deserve to live. You must [dispatch him].'

You say, 'I will dispatch him'

Lieutenant Ny`Rae says 'Tha should keep you busy for awhile. Should you manage to do so, take proof to the taskmaster in Overthere. Trust me, should you fail I shall kill you myself when our Lady rises to rule.'

A Tunarean Spy spawns near the Firiona Vie zone line and wanders towards Veltar. He is around 50th level (light blue to 70), and can hit for 200. He drops an Elven Scout Emblem. Bring this emblem to Taskmaster Goruk in The Overthere.

Taskmaster Goruk says 'Hmmm, you may be onto someting here. These area may serve our army well. I do hope you weren't expecting commendation for such a menial task, but here... take this.'
You gain experience!

Receive Slippers of Silence.

------------------------------------

Turban of Dark Loyalty

Find Scout Anissa in The Dreadlands at location -1339, +1238, +236.

You say, 'Hail, Scout Anissa'

Scout Anissa says, 'What are you doing going around hailing people? Can't you see I am busy? We have a war upon us! What do you think I am [doing] here? Picking flowers?'

You say, 'So what are you doing?'

Scout Anissa says, I am running a circuit through the surrounding area trying to find locations of [tactical advantage].'

You say, 'Tactical advantage?'

Scout Anissa says, 'Indeed. I am to report my findings to the taskmaster in the Overthere so that he can help coordinate attacks with the generals of Lady T'Vyl's army. I reall don't h ave time to be bothered by the like of you, unless you think you can [find] some good spots yourself!'

You say, 'I can find some spots'

Scout Anissa says, 'Very well. Look far and wide and find four good places. Scan the grounds carefully for a sign that the location is good. When you have found four good spots, take your findings directly to the taskmaster, you shouldn't waste time trying to find me again.'

Four ground spawns in The Dreadlands:

Tactical Advantage Note #1 (+144, +4938, +1133)
Tactical Advantage Note #2 (+1580, +3690)
Tactical Advantage Note #3 (+235, +967, +333)
Tactical Advantage Note #4 (-1635, +2191, +562)

Turn the four advantage notes in to Taskmaster Goruk in The Overthere.

Taskmaster Goruk says ' Hmmm, you may be onto someting here. This area may serve our army well. I do hope you weren't expecting commendation for such a menial task, but here... take this.'
You gain experience!

Receive Turban of Dark Loyalty.

------------------------------------

Gauntlets of the Dark Princess

Find Assassin Meerlock in The Dreadlands at location -1994, +116, +8.

You say, 'Hail, Assassin Meerlock'

Assassin Meerlock says 'You there! Stop! Listen to me lest I hamstring you where you stand. Did you see that [messenger]?'

You say, 'What messenger?'

Assassin Meerlock says 'He was just here. He can't have gone too far by now. You must stop him before he reaches the city of [Firiona Vie].'

You say, 'Firiona Vie?'

Assassin Meerlock says 'I believe he is working for their forces. The scoundrel intercepted some very important papers that I was bringing to Lanys T'Vyl herself. You must [return] them!'

you say, 'I will return them'

Assassin Meerlock says 'Kill him. Make him suffer. No one shall be allowed to interfere with the dark princess' plans. Find the message and make sure that it gets to the taskmaster in Overthere, he will assign appropriate forces to ensure that it reaches Lanys in safety.'

Find A Tunarean Messenger in The Dreadlands. "She" wanders between the Firiona Vie and Frontier Mountains zones. She was around 50th level and hit for about 200. Loot the Urgent Message and bring it to Taskmaster Goruk in The Overere.

Taskmaster Goruk says, 'Hmmm, you may be onto someting here. This area may serve our army well. I do hope you weren't expecting commendation for such a menial task, but here... take this.'
You gain experience!

Receive Gauntlets of the Dark Princess.

Military Plans appear to have stopped spawning, or not spawning at the previous rate today. Any info?

Thank you, I just went and checked OT and found the Taskmaster gone as well. Agree, looks like it's over. At least I didn't miss the quest entirely like some others in the past.

Just did the quest with my 45 Ranger, got help from a 46 bard for the Spy and Messenger. Fairly easy, did the turn ins with sneak on. Very easy and very nice quest.

Great Quest

Completed the complete quest with my 63 Ranger, The Spy and Messenger are a bit of a pain as you get a lot of adds fighting them in the open. Had a couple of guildies meet me at FV/DL zone-in and I would pull the mobs back to the tunnel. You can just hail Lieutenant Ny`Rae and Assassin Meerlock to spawn the Spy aned Messenger. We killed each 3 times adn everyone looted the pieces. The ground spawns are on a rather fast timer and we just marked the map and made the rounds until we all had those. If you are KoS in OT Have somone train the Goons and Golum to the SF zone-line. I had my non KoS 39 Mage do the Armguards of Stealth portion several times for my SK alt and buddy's SK. Hands were a easy upgrade for my Leaf Scale Gloves.

"The Spy and Messenger are a bit of a pain as you get a lot of adds fighting them in the open."

The spy, at least, doesn't run very fast, so you can just pull them to the zone wall to solo them there. I could outrun then with RS3 even unsnared (which they're immune to)... with SoW or better it should be easy.
Good Race Turn-Ins
# Jan 21 2005 at 12:42 PM Rating: Decent
Well, haven't completed the turn-ins yet, but have couple ideas that didn't work and a couple more that I have yet to try.

Illusion DE does NOT work. Gets you inside and up to the taskmaster, but when you hail him, all hell breaks loose. So to speak...he he. I'm a 66 druid, so was able to survive General Severe and couple of his goons beating on me until I hit the stone.

Likewise Sneak. Tryed Invis and then sneak up behind taskmaster. Same thing... life gets real interesting. Hope you don't lose SoW or SoE along the way!

One thing that DID work was pulling the goons and the golem out into the pastureland. I invissed in and dropped invis while running past the golem and ran like a striped axx ape. When I looked back I had a whole lotta goons and a big golem right on my tail. As long as you don't have a DS on in case they hit you, and as long as you don't do any damage to them, the golems won't summon you, but I know from past (and painful) experience that they will otherwise. Unfortunately, I found it a little hard to do the turn-ins while training the golem/goons around the green pasture. If you wait until someone does this for you (as one post suggested), you should be fine. You might wait quite a long time however.

Another option (best one I think) is to get a bard who can pull the golem/goons away so you can do the turn-ins. With their Speedy Gonzales act, they should be able to stay in front of the crowd and keep them out long enough to do the turn-ins for all 4 sub-quests... I intend to find out for sure!

Good luck to any trying it!
RE: Good Race Turn-Ins

This is actually pretty easy just got to wait til the goons go on patrol. The Golem will path back and forth stopping on each side long enough to do all the turnins at once if you are fast enough. He has a very small aggro range and is far enough away to walk up to the Taskmaster. If you don't feel like waiitng (it's not long ) they can be kited down along the water while someone does turnin. I did this early on with a HE Wizard then took a friend back the next day. This time we just hit FV for the plans then got all the DL drops and quests and he did the OT part all at once.
RE: Good Race Turn-Ins

Finally completed the turn-ins before i read post about waiting for the goon patrol to leave. Nice idea, but I went ahead and put sneak up while invis, walked up behind the taskmaster and did the turn ins. Each time I got aggro and ran for the book, never got below half health (66 druid) so was OK, but lower levels might not have as much luck. Also, I skipped all dialogue, just did the turnin, and had auto button to store stuff in inventory (/autoinventory) while running. All went fine... Nice stuff!
got mine
# Jan 20 2005 at 5:58 PM Rating: Decent
I got my Slippers tonight. Got lucky twice. First was because the Spy was up and I didn't have to go hail anyone to spawn him.

Tunarean Spy puchned, kicked, and bashed me for no more than 200. He was immune to run speed changes (no snare, no root), but everything else I used on him held. I kited him around for a while... maybe 10 minutes while help came to me. Once help arrived (thanks to Feriin and Messa from Tindi) he went down really fast.

I got lucky again for the OT turn in. Just as I got there, someone pulled the golem and dragoons so I just walked right up to the Taskmaster (who is right at the city gate from the PoK book) and did my turn in.

Very easy and a minor upgrade for me... overall worth it for me personally. Sad that they might take it out of the game, but if I get a "rare" piece of gear from it, that's cool too haha

Spy was dark blue to 61. Also I'm a WE Druid and faction, etc wasn't an issue for kill or turn in. Oh, and no faction hit for kill.

Take advantage while you can!

this means only 1 thing: someone spawned it for you.

you MUST talk to quest giver, or messenger/spy will not be up. or someone else can do it for you

think you have to wait some time before spawning him again. 10-20 minutes
RE: got mine
# Sep 05 2005 at 2:29 PM Rating: Decent
Well, I suppose it's very possible that someone spawned him by talking to the quest giver and then failed to kill him *shrug* dunno ... I posted how it happened for me :)

Do you have to do the previous Firiona Vie quests to get this quest, on zoning into Overthere i get no message and the Taskmaster is nowhere to be found.I got the military plans from ground spawn in FV , but cant hand them in? Im a 55 druid.
RE: Armguards of Stealth

Taskmaster is a skele behind the golems close to the PoK book. The Dragoons see through invis, so be careful when turning in. Also helps to know what server you are on. Ask around to see if others have the same issue.

"The Dragoons see through invis"

They don't: they attacked me as soon as invis dropped, but not before. Unfortunately the Taskmaster won't accept hand-ins while FD-ed, so I had to get someone to train the golem and dragoons away while I did it.

They're spawned by talking to the quest giver. Don't bother checking the zone for them specifically unless you've talked to Assassin Meerlock or Lieutenant Ny'Rae respecively. (Max hit 200, normal range 40 - 150 and did not summon)

I redid Lieutenant Ny'Rae's quest. I had the boots on me, he doesn't give out a different armor piece if you were thinking of trying to make a set. ;) I still recived little experience from the quest but, there is no message about duplicate lore items, you just don't get anything if you have the item on you. (Yes this quest can be done multiple times by the same person I did the gloves twice because I gave the first pair away)

They both hit for up to 180 a pop and Immune to runspeed changes too... rude suprise for my Wiz... But pretty decent rewards for the effort.

Actually they are snareable but not rootable that I could tell. Did these twice for myself and a friend Atol's stuck on all but could never get root.
RE: Tunarian Spy/Messenger
# Jan 23 2005 at 1:32 AM Rating: Decent
Just did this tonight (1-22-05)and they are not snareable. Did them both with a 57 druid and 62 wiz. Just traded aggro back and forth til they were dead. Was really easy. They run at 20 percent health, but not fast.

# Jan 19 2005 at 11:25 PM Rating: Default
Do you have to be within a certain lvl to do this? I assume you don't since some of the notes said what cons were to a lvl 70, then again the lvl 70 could have been a tag along. Basically I am hoping I can do it at lvl 65. Anyone know for sure?

I'm sure you can do this at any level, providing you can complete the tasks. I killed the spy for Kenwar, a rogue who was in Dreadlands at the time, who conned green to me and completed the turn in successfully.

And no I wasn't a tag along. ;P I did each of these solo when I got the messages. I'm a halfling druid, so it isn't limited to people on Overthere faction either. I'm KoS there, I just had to dodge aggro from the Dragoons and the cliff golem (as he paths right infront of the taskmaster).
