Find Ronar Flametip in the Plane of Tranquility - Location +254.67, -2119.95, -927.41 (in the building to the Plane of Fire).

You say, 'Hail, Ronar Flametip'

Ronar Flametip says 'Ronar says, 'Greetings travelers! Though the blessing Karana bestowed upon me seems to be waning, I was at least able to portend your arrival here and the role you would play in the [events] I shall soon inform you of.'

You say, 'What events?'

Ronar Flametip says 'My gift normally allows me to peer into other realms. I have used it many times to protect Norrath from dangerous outside forces. Now, however, I have lost the ability to peer into the planes under the domain of Fennin Ro. I suspect that his son, Solusek, may play a hand in these events, although I know not how. I fear that he has managed to somehow [move the portal] into the Plane of Fire for reasons that are not completely clear to me.'

You say, 'Move the portal?'

Ronar Flametip says 'Yes, and by doing so he has blocked my sight and access into the plane itself. Yet before I completely lost the ability to see into his realm, I glimpsed a giant stream of mystical fire coming from his tower and shooting upwards into the sky. Once the clouds had parted, another more sinister torrent of magic returned from the sky back to his tower. I believe that Solusek may have an accomplice for whatever he has planned. Though I much prefer subtlety, I fear the time for that has passed. No, you must simply stop Solusek from completing his plans and you must discover who his accomplice is lest he manages to continue their vile plans. Will you [fulfill the call of destiny]?'

You say, 'I will fulfill the call of destiny'

Ronar Flametip says 'Before you can gain access to Solusek's tower, you will need an enchantment to protect you from the searing heat that is contained within its walls. On my own I do not have the ability to grant such protection but I can still aid thee nonetheless. In the frigid landscapes of the Western Wastes there is a particularly powerful [efreeti] that wanders a path that only the mad would follow.'

You say, 'What efreeti?'

Ronar Flametip says 'Banished by his own kind for cruelty not even they could tolerate, he roams the wasteland forever searching for the entrance back to his home, an entrance forever denied to him. You must destroy this abomination and bring me the fiery heart that burns inside of him. Only then will you be able to survive the blistering environment in Solusek Ro's tower. Once inside though, you will need to gain access to his inner sanctum by getting his sanctum key. I know little of this but always be on the lookout for help for you never know when the gods may choose to aid you. Once you have destroyed Solusek, return to me with any information you find.'

Find and kill the Banished Efreeti in the Western Wastes. He spawns on the western coast and wanders the zone. He is a curiously simple mob: Max hit 651, average 385; fully slowable, rootable, snareable, doesn't summon). Loot the Banished Efreeti Heart and give it to Ronar.

Ronar Flametip says 'Very good _____. With this I can create an enchantment powerful enough to protect you from the searing heat within Solusek's Tower.' Ronar plunges the heart into the nearby pool of water and begins to chant in a low monotonous tone. The water around his claw begins to boil and swirl faster and faster as his chanting grows louder till he finally pulls out his now-empty claw. He gently touches your forehead and though you hear your flesh sizzle as he inscribes a rune upon it, you feel nothing. 'Now you may freely enter Solusek's Tower and complete your task.'

You now have access to the Tower of Solusek Ro.

Great news! Doing the Odaen quest now gives you access to Sol Ro's chambers! No need to kill the 5 minis anymore!

I don't think we have a quest write up for this. Do you still have the logs of the dialog for this quest?

Soloed this today. Tried to pet tank it but had wrong spell set loaded, *smacks head* and didn't have heals memmed. By the time I got the right set up pet was down to 9% and dropped before I could get a heal off. Ended up kiting with Plague and bane, don't have pox. Just stay out of melee range and watch out for roamers. Was about a 6 min kite, used canna 5 3 times before he dropped. Spawn loc waqs at the crystals around +950, +4100

Been working a lot lately so I've missed the two flagging events that would have gotten me into Sol Ro. So I decided to take a little adventure over to WW in hopes of finding this guy. Solo'd pretty easy with a 70 Paladin, and now I can go hang with my buddies in Sol Ro... Need to post this quest somewhere so others can get in. I know its not a flag, but I can go back and get TT and Bert later. Don't forget to check out if you run around on The Nameless.

Could Not Get Access To The Zone. Any Ideas?
# Nov 15 2005 at 8:11 PM Rating: Decent
I killed the Efreeti (I am level 64), and gave the heart to Flametip. Then when I went to click on the red ball thing to access the zone, it told me that I did not meet the requirements to get in the zone (or something like that).
I received all of the text and went through the entire set of comments with him.

Any idea of why it would not let me in the zone?

As of this date this quest still works. Myself, a 62 mage with 30 AAs and a 70 druid took him out, piece of cake. The Efreeti resisted most of my spells so it was primarily pet bashing and those spells that did hit. Druid kept him rooted, I was using Ward of Xegony, no focus.

Can anyone confirm that you must be level 62 to complete this quest? Or is it possible at lower levels?
RE: Minimum Level
# Aug 21 2005 at 4:55 AM Rating: Decent
nvm got my answer. Completed today with a level 46 cleric. No idea why you would ever take a 46 cleric into SolRo but you can do the Alt Access quest at that level!
RE: Minimum Level
# Oct 18 2005 at 7:33 PM Rating: Default
why wouldnt you wanna take a cleric to srt? it is execellent xp for that level, lets say if u got a tank friend u can duo there. it is also godly for ne one that wants to doubble/3 box for orante gear. great if u got a shaman/cleric/ranger. rangers can tank in this zone just fine if slowed mobs.
Wow !!!

Wow I look at all the post to see about Killing this mob to get access to the SolRo zone and pow .... nothing but complaining. Got some decent info on the actual mob it spawns along the western part of the zoneline. And in 1 hr spawn rates once killed. But good lord why did i have to read like 25 post of people pissing and moaning about access to this its not my fault SOE made it easier to get the access..... please moan about it somewhere else. And who cares if I get the access I will probably die in there without the loot in hand ...

Thanks ... Gollumn
66 Cleric

LOL looks like i just did a little moaning myself....

Efreeti Quest
# Jun 15 2005 at 6:21 AM Rating: Good
First, i play a lot. by a lot i mean, im retired. if im awake im playing EQ... so ya.. i am fortunate enough to be in an awesome raiding guild. When i inherited my son's 70 Shaman, outfitted with bazaar gear, i found out just how many hands, fingers and eyes someone needs for 2 boxing. so bringing him to raids was out. i get my mornings, and can "play" at non guild stuff.. and this quest has given me a way to outfit him without buying his gear. hell... i didnt develop a char and get involved in this game just to buy my way up. the fun and pride comes from actually looking at your gear, and each item is like a memory of how you got it and the people who shared the time with you. this now underutilized zone now available to casual players thru this quest is right on. ya.. i had to bust my *** and do it the hard way, but back then this was THE ZONE as such... but like anything else, progress happened, EQ expanded, and this got left behind like a forgotten toy. Why not let those who cant spend the time playing to get into raid guilds have it now ? they'll get to enjoy the zone and possibly get the occassional upgrade as i hope to do with my 2nd main, and why not ? keeping something that you no longer even care about when someone else would die for it .. ya.. some people are like that. but seeing someone enjoy something the way you once did.. that's fair.
Banished Efreeti
# Jun 12 2005 at 9:56 PM Rating: Default
Thought I might actually post something about this quest.

The Banished Efreeti paths along the west coast between 2 ice shard clusters protruding from the ground. He just goes back and forth between these ice clusters not through the whole zone.

The Banished Efreeti isn't very magic resistant and if you have the ability to snare or root he's soloable.

At two points on his path he warps completely to the otherside of his path which makes tracking him a little difficult.

It would seem me spawns about once an hour and I can't confirm a despawn as each time I saw him I killed him. But his spawn point is the is northern ice cluster West of Dragon Necropolis.

It requires no PH death to spawn him and his corpse lasts 27 minutes if you need time to log an alt or tell a guildie to haul butt to the zone.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 05 2005 at 5:04 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Some of you people need to get a job and get off your ***'s and contribute to society. Tit milkers is what I see here. Living off of ole mom while she works her *** off so you can get one more flag.

1st of all the server merges were a good thing it repopulated servers. 2nd of all stop being an idiot this has no relevance to this quest 3rd Your just an idiot if you dont like the game leave go to EQ2 or WoW its one less idiot we have to deal with in EQ. You are by far the dumbest person I have ever seen post on these boards.
xp access
# May 24 2005 at 6:25 AM Rating: Decent
You dont get AA/charm upgrade because the key grants you xp access only. That is probably why some people have had trouble getting to Sol Ro himself. Maybe you need to be flagged through PoP progression before you can reach him.
grow up
# Mar 24 2005 at 10:59 PM Rating: Decent
Yall really need to grow-up i am a casual gamer i play 5 hours in a week. i have never complained about the gear i have or the spells or AA's. Hell i can still make even time flaged guys turn there heads at what i learned i can do. so the made it easy for me to get to sol ro tower. if i still want the reward for the flag i have to do the planar progression quests like everyone else. so to all you haters out there grow-up and leave everyone alone to have fun their own way.

Just a thought
# Mar 02 2005 at 6:53 PM Rating: Decent
LOL I know I am a little late with my post, but just wanted to pass on a thought. I have personally done the Alt access for Sol Ro solo as a 62 ranger. It was INCREDIBLY easy, and yes I am now capable of zoning into Sol Ro (though I haven't yet) My guild has plenty of people who have done the quest, but we are still gonna do every part of Planar Progression. We want to experience all the content. We may be the odd balls, but we are not trying to skip any parts of flagging. We still plan to do it all. The 'uber' guilds and 'hardcore' players earned and worked hard to get where they are now, and there are still guilds out there that want to do the same. We may be a bit behind, and use the little alt access quests to help with some gear and exp, but we still plan to earn our Time access.
It's a game

It appears that what most are saying here...(and yes I wait eagerly for the flames coming my way) that it was hard for me to get a certain flag for a zone and it should always stay that way, and for no reason should others be allowed easier access to places no one goes anymore....hope I got that right. Then remember that when you have dishes to wash by hand because using the dishwasher is easier and I had to wash all the dishes by hand when I was a child so therefore everyone should have to. Or maybe you would prefer to get your ice from a block you have to chop rather from the automatic ice maker in the you guys make me laugh...Its a game and SoE is trying to keep people happy its how you stay in business..ohh and by the way we had to walk to school in the snow 2 miles up hill both ways......hehehehehe
Gram Dunnar
# Feb 14 2005 at 11:10 PM Rating: Decent
Would I still get a free AA and stats for my PoP Charm from Gram Dunnar after I do this quest?

Or do I still have to do the original flag to get them?

*After I zone into Solro Tower of course*

I just did this. There was no charm upgrade, nor was there an AA. All this seems to give is access to SolRo's tower.

On Feb 9 2005, Inny Server.

I was MT and was summoned 4 times. Not that being summoned 2 inches made any real difference.

70 Mage, Solo'd a banished efreeti with Child of Wind, many times. Usually takes me down to 50%m when just letting pet attack and me healing pet, think I nuked it once or twice, depending on the fight that day.
