Example of a quest with multiple faction requirements.

You need somewhere around 25 faction (mid indifferent) to get the quest from Thomas (Knights of Thunder) and amiable to get the needed Bar of Ronium from Lord Searfire (Temple of Sol Ro).

Find Thomas at +2930, -820. (On giant hill.)

You say, 'Hail, Thomas'

Thomas says 'Welcome to our camp. We are paladins gathered from many lands. We have been called to this land by our deities. Ours is a crusade of righteousness. Have you happened upon us by chance or do you [seek the sacred molds]?'

You say, 'I seek the sacred molds'

Thomas says 'Many of us carry the sacred molds of the holy paladin armor. We will release it only to those who have proven themselves to each of our deities. If you seek it, speak up!! Tell us which part you seek. I carry the secret of the [Helm of Ro]. The others carry those of vambraces, breastplates, bracers, gauntlets, greaves and boots of Ro.'

You say, 'What Helm of Ro?'

Thomas says 'To receive the mold of the Helm of Ro you must first demonstrate your strength. Go to the plains of thunder. There you shall hunt down the most vile creatures I have ever encountered. Seek the undead cyclopes. I have spied them in the most dangerous portions of my realm. Fetch me two of their skulls.'

You need to get the mold for the item. You do this by fetching the quest items and turning them in to the NPC who gives the item quest. You need to have an amiably faction to get these quests. If your faction is not high enough, they will request that you go to their guild and talk to someone there first before getting the quest. All molds are no drop lore items, so whoever turns in the items must finish the quest.

1) Faction needed with Temple of Thunder in Qeynos [Knights of Thunder]. If you are not given the quest outright, go ask someone (not sure who) in the Temple if you have proved your nobility and if he answers yes, you have good enough faction to do the quest. Bring him 2 skulls from the undead cyclopses (approx level 35. plains of thunder/Karana - kill regular cyclops to get them to appear) and he will reward you with the mold for the helm.

2) Once you get the mold for an item, you need to talk to Lord Searfire, the Dwarven Smith in The Temple of Solusek Ro. He must consider you amiably before he will deal with you.

You say 'Lord Searfire'
Thomas says 'Lord Searfire is a great forge master. He was called forth to the land of fire lakes. It is said that he now toils in the name of Solusek Ro within a hidden temple of that land. He and he alone knows how to obtain [ronium], a needed component for forging the sacred Armor of Ro.'

He will then give you the Sol Cauldron and tell you how to do the next step, which is acquiring the ingredients to make the metal ronium. These are: Melatite (Dropped by MB and MC Clockworks in Solusek's Eye. You can also sometimes buy them from the Gnomes in Solusek's Eye since many players sell them if they find them), Two Bars of Enchanted Platinum,Mistmoore Granite (from Gargoyles in Mistmoore), the Sands of Ro (from sand giants) and Soil of Underfoot (Get from Priestess Ghalea in the Kaladim cleric's guild for 4 fairy dusts [need at least amiable faction for this]). Put them in the cauldron and hit the combine button and you will get a bar of ronium. You do not need the blacksmithing skill to combine these.

3) Once you get the ronium, you need to combine it with the mold in a forge to make your item. Any forge will do. You no longer need the blacksmithing skill for this.

Thomas says 'It is an alloy created from two rare metals. Only [Lord Searfire] knows the formula.'

ok, to get the soil of underfoot you MUST have allied faction with the lady in the dorf cleric guild i gave the fairy dust to her with faciton of kindly she gave me nothing for it. its a real pain since the only place i ever seen fairys spawn is gfay can never find them .. always paying rangers to track them for me.

Im a 35th paladin on drinal. Today I soloed 2 undead cyclops with my ghoulbane and ins of nife. The cyclops did resist both ghoulbane spell and inst of nife spell about 50% of the time. Brought skulls to rathe mountains with map of rathe mountains from this site. I found paladin camp no problem and got the mold. Make sure you have a sow in rathe mountains.

First, the whole point of being a hybrid is to cast spells and tank (well, for Rangers, to cast spells and attack and hope not to get aggro'ed...hehe). I, as a 25 Pally, like to use Flash of Light (great taunt!), Yaulp (hey, 5 mana for 10 STR and 20 AC for 15 seconds isn't bad), Reckless Strength (20 STR minus 1 per tick until minus 10 STR (that takes 3 minutes, and you can just click off after every fight), Lull (when pulling), Root (when soloing or the group is in trouble), Light heal to keep the Ranger/Rogue/Monk ETC from dying (also works wonders on casters :) ), etc. After 30, chain stunning seems a good way to keep aggro, reduce damage taken by group, and so on, and we also get Healing then. With my Root Ward Undead Ward ward ward ward reroot etc till OOM then finish with melee, I can take yellow undead solo with only 1 or 2 bubs of health lost. And I can't wait till Luclin comes out, then us Pallys can make caster MoB's very useless with the Cease/Desist to interrupt first spell, then stun, then Cease/Desist the next spell (gotta use the stun, long recast on Cease and so on). Anyway, as the title says,"Wis=GOOD THING!"

EDIT: PS This is not simply a rant. This is aimed at the people posting below about how Pallys shouldn't "waste time" by casting "useless spells" in the middle of combat.

I don't know about the other ingredients, but I do know that if you hang out around South Karana even at lvl 15 - 16 (high enough to take a lion that could aggro on you), you can eventually get a couple undead cyclops skulls. The other stuff, and the faction required in Solusek may indeed pose a problem to low levels. People leave the skuls on the cyclops because no one can use them except you guys, and no one can sell them.

hi everybody,all the people always tell me that the pally sucks because they dont stand dammage but why i am always the last one to die in my group.i think pally are most tank than caster ,i dont cast so much spells when im fighting but i know that the one i cast make the difference between life and death sometimes ,im sure of it ,im verry proud to be a pally and you must be too and let everybody know that you are ,after all we are the peace keeper of norrath lol,it s true that the pally have they re weak point but all the class have they re own i guess,try too bring glory upon the paladin and to the lovely god erollisis marr,my god,take care evrybody and dont forget that we are the holy blood who fill the earth of norrath

He got me arms, legs, and helm, all for a jagged band, skull shaped barbute, and 100pp. And on top of it all, he says it took him 2hours! I just don't see how a quest that usually takes 15 hours for a lvl 35, can take 2 hours for a lvl 16. Do you think this is possible? And P.S., stop arguing about what classes do what and what classes are better, each class has been test played countless amounts of times to make sure they are good at something, and are even balanced out with other classes. So drop it, and save the posting room for people who are staying on the subject.

So your level 16 friend walked into Mistmoore by himself? Then he killed a sand giant. For your info a level 16 with the best armor and weapons in the entire game could not solo in Mistmoore. Foolish person. Why am I even responding to this. I must be an idiot.

I got the skulls (given to me), turned them in for and got the mold. Did all the other stuff and made my Ronium. I used the forge by the bank in North Freeport and combined the mold and ronium. No message, just a forge left with my ronium and no mold! What did I do wrong! The spoiler here says smithing skill not needed. Is this not true?

Just thought I would give my 2 CP worth. Flame me if you will..
I&#8217;m told/experienced that paladins are a mix of mob control (Stun, root, blind) dmg taking (Getting to mob off the tank for a bit while getting healed) and backup tank / healer. All though paladins dmg and healing and mob control skills are not as good as pure class we can do all them all. We can also take and give your far share of dmg.
I play my pally as a &#8220;group status watcher&#8221; I will root and stun when needed and pull adds of the tanks if we get them take them away and root them. Stun casters so they can&#8217;t cast on the team and most of all protect the pure casters. Sorry if I&#8217;m going on to much just thought that I would have my say.

OK Paladins are tanks in the sense that they will more often then not move up to the front of the battle and take the licks. (Period) Paladins are notexpected to sit there and take the licks without doing anything about it. (Period) Paladins are accepted into groups because they can take a few licks, CAST to keep the mobs interest, and help with the healing. If anyone has ever played a hybrid class to their fulest potential you know that part of the reason we can taunt at all worth while is because we can cast to make them think about us again. (Period) Anyone who thinks a paladins in combat casting is useless, you need to go play another class cause you have no clue what you are talking about. (Period) If you dont believe me ask any hybrid who is forced to be main tank how he keeps their attention. If he says by sheer brute combat fighting HE LIED!

this is not completely i'm a Ranger and i keep the mob easily by pure melee i usually have to back off from the mob so that the main tank may have the mob in a group i hit in the 30s-50s my highest hit so far is only 85 dmg

i was just in this fight with a snotnose twink lvl 16 pally who was tell me (at lvl 32) that str and ac were more important than mana, as the spells were just for buffs. NOT TRUE. obviously you need the best STR/AC?HP as possible to stay alvie, SO YOU CAN CAST SPELLS! as it has been said many times, we are great tanks, but warriors far outclass us in damagedealing and damage taking. as such, we have to find a new HYBRID role. As a paladin, you should always be a secondary tank if you have another tank class, so that you can root, stun, blind(its -5 or 10% attack ability on the mob. its 5 mana, so use it. its enough to make a difference) and heal, if the caster is oom or in need themselves. we are they best at disrupting casters. a pally with a fast 1hs, a good bash, and plenty of mana to stun cana keep a caster helpless as the rest of the party slaughters them. you are there to be a jack of all trades. YES you tank if there is no warrior, yes you can heal and buff if no cleric, but you can make both of them SO much more effective. a high lvl pally is usually regarded as a secondrate character as they are no long they best at anything, but rather they can make a tank much more effective than being a second warrior, or a caster/ healer more effective by reducing mana use. you share damage with the tank...can invigor and heal him, and cast on the mob, while the casters all save mana and gem slots for more important spells. There is a reason that Paladins get the best weapons and armor in the game, as well as LoH being greatest gift in the game. We are a WONDERFUL class, but extremely difficult to master. A pure caster or tank is so much easier to master. But no character can be as versitile or as fun to play as a pally who can do it all. Who else can wade in and take the abuse of 3 mobs, taunting them all to save a tank in trouble, root two and pull third to finish it off, while the casters heal the tank, then turn around and heal the cleric getting beat up by the mobs for having healed the tank. Then you run back in, and beat the heal out of whats left. I LOVE BEING A PALADIN. I usually hunt in a group of three pallys, a shaman, a druid, and the last spot rotates through various casters ( cleric/chanter/wizzy) we have yet to find a mid 30ish mob we cannot take if we fight smart.

Your goup seems good and all, but you are severly lacking of damage dealers. Your fights are certainly twice as long as a more classical group.
But it works, sure it is. If I was you, I would drop at least one pally for a rogue or monk.

It really bugs me when people rip on other people's group members. A shaman and an enchanter make an excellent pair, or a SK and a warrior, necro and rogue.. whatever. So basically you get a group of 3-5 going of ANY class combo and *if* everyone knows their characters and how everyone else reacts to situations, you can rock the world in no time flat. Get out there, experiment, and try having 3 pallies in your group. That sounds wicked, I would not want to meet them in a dark alley!
