If you have the Staff of the Serpent (enchanter epic 1.0) or have completed the pre-quest, find "a sarnak imitator," a.k.a. Jeb Lumsed, in the Burning Woods at -1200, -4000.

You say, 'Hail, a sarnak imitator'

a sarnak imitator says 'Much time has passed since the creation of the Staff of the Serpent. The power of discord is seeping into our fair world, and only the most powerful of us shall stand to force it back. The time has come for a new tool, and a new breed of enchanter. [Are you prepared] to meet this challenge?'

You say, 'I am prepared.'

a sarnak imitator says 'I have recently received this ancient tome; it contains knowledge that may prove invaluable to the construction of a new staff. Unfortunately, time has had its way with it. I need you to find the missing pages so we can get to work. There should be ten, unless they have been destroyed by time and decay.'

You receive a Tattered Illegible Tome, a 10-slot container. Now you must collect the ten Cryptic Pages (no unique item lore), which are all ground spawns that may be found as follows:

1. In Charasis (Howling Stones) at -135, +245, -165.

2. In Old Sebilis in the Ilis jail at -260, +355, -176 (go down the water tube, turn right, and go into the jail cell near the Echo of Sebilis).

3. In Cazic Thule at +430, -390 (just north of the wizard spire, in a room with lizards and pillars).

4. In Crystal Caverns at -590, -940, -536 (in the queen's room, practically under her).

5. In Skyshrine at +150, +385, +3 (the southwest tower).

6. In Velketor's Labyrinth at +260, -425, +21 (at the first dog tent on the left).

7. In the Crypt of Nadox at +785, +1745, -82 (near the broodmother).

8. In Najena at -160, -120, -19 (near Rathyl in the basement).

9. In Fungus Grove at +1135, +1275 (in the Lucid Shard camp in the Shik`Nar tunnels).

10. In the Ocean of Tears at +945, +7860, -232 (between three sirens).

If you miss a spawn, the Cryptic Pages respawn every few hours (need a respawn timer on these). Combine the ten pages in the book to craft a Complete Illegible Tome. Bring this back to Jeb.

a sarnak imitator says 'As I suspected, this is something extraordinary. You must go speak to Maelin at once. It has been many moons since I have entered the Plane of Knowledge. He may well have some new information for me. Go at once and tell him I sent you.'

You receive an invisible flag for completing the previous step. Now go to the Plane of Knowledge and speak with Grand Librarian Maelin.

You say, 'Jeb Lumsed sent me.'

Grand Librarian Maelin says 'This is from Jeb, you say? I will set my best researchers on it at once. We have recently made some discoveries that he should be aware of. Here, take this note down to Lobaen, she will retrieve them for you.'

You receive a Note to Lobaen. She's a dryad selling spells elsewhere in the Library at -85, +1060, -60. Give her the note.

Illusionist Lobaen says 'It is not often that I receive a request from Maelin himself. Please, take these and be most careful.'

You receive Sealed Documents. Take these back to Jeb.

a sarnak imitator says 'Interesting indeed. I see that I was not wrong in my instinct to begin this as quickly as possible. I have created a list of the items that you will need to begin the construction of this tool. Mind you, it will not be a simple thing. When you have gathered them all return to me. Would you like a chest to carry them in?'

He gives you a book called Assembling the Staff, which lists the components required. If you say, "I would like a chest," he will give you an Ornate Staff Chest. The text of the book is as follows:

Gold Filigree: This is needed to bind the staff. Last I heard a strange sort of mermaid made off with it. The hand of Marr may cleanse it.

Staff Section: This was shattered by Mayong's rage. I do believe something from his castle may in fact entice the one who holds it into speaking.

Staff Section: A strange scarab scampered off with this piece, seek him in the caves.

Staff Section: This was broken in a mountain pass.

Staff Section: The warcaller claimed this one long ago.

Staff Crown: A misguided siren mistakes it for a crown.

Incandescent Oil: This is needed to anoint the staff. First create a glowing concoction of moonwater, magic, light, and that which glows. Take this glowing concoction and brew it with a greasy sort of oil, oil of a dragon, and some dye.

All-Seeing Eye: You could also call him the eye of Bristlebane.

Gold Filigree

Kill an enticing potameid at -845, +1560 in Natimbi and loot the Sullied Gold Filigree. Take this filigree to Anthone Chapin in the right basement of the Halls of Honor (top of the map), a.k.a. Rydda Dar's basement. Pacify or kill the two guards nearby.

You say, 'Hail, Anthone Chapin'

Anthone Chapin says 'Mithaniel Marr himself has entrusted me with the power to purge taint from the most desecrated of objects.'

Give him the filigree.

Anthone Chapin says 'This filigree now shines from within with the holy light of Marr.'

You receive a Purified Gold Filigree.

Staff Section 1

Go to Mistmoore's Castle. Zone in invisible, and follow the tunnel around to the graveyard. Enter the graveyard and the building within. Fall through the floor at the front of the casket. Go up the ramp or stairs (can't remember which) to a room with four doors. Open the door to your right. It should open and be a fake wall. If it doesn't, it's the wrong door. If it is the correct door, directly to its left is a secret passage. Enter the secret passage and go up and up and up till you get as high as you can in the tower. If you have not seen the lift, you need to look up and click the piece of wood. A fruit called the Taste of Enticement spawns on the table in the same room as the Dark Huntress. It looks like a blue mushroom on the table. Take this fruit and go to the seventh floor of the Tower of Frozen Shadow, a.k.a. Tserrina's floor. If you use the master key, you'll be in a room full of mirrors. Just outside of this room is the Advisor Svartmane, whom you must charm. If you are careful, you can open the door without him aggroing, especially since he does not see invis. Charm him and hand him the fruit.

Advisor Svartmane says 'I can't . . I . . .of course, I do not think that Tserrina has any need for this. I can't imagine that she would miss it at all. Please, take it.'

He will give you the 1st Piece of the Staff. This part is soloable, but has killed many enchanters. Take along a pal for safety and stack runes on yourself.

Staff Section 2

The 2nd Piece of the Staff drops from the yrendan scarab, a rare spawn in the Plane of Justice at approximately -1300, -850.

Staff Section 3

The 3rd Piece of the Staff drops from any named in the Vxed trial.

Staff Section 4

The 4th Piece of the Staff drops off of War Caller Kaavi in the Bloodfields. To get to her area, you jump off the bridge port in area and follow the wall south west. When I went to do her, someone had clearly failed her. She was already targetable. We pulled 2 of her guardians (Sentry of Kaavi), and killed them. They easily mez/slow and are very much overcons. Then we pulled her and two more of her guardians. Mezzed the guardians and killed her. Her aggro is a little awkward but killed her easily enough. I took the same raid force for all major mobs. So we killed this mob with about 19 people. It was easily overkill.

Staff Crown

Faleniel of Darkwater spawns in Sirens Grotto. The easiest method to get to her is to teleport to Cobalt Scar, zone into Sirens Grotto, then evac/succor across the zone. Run to the well invised and drop down into her room. Nothing sees invis. You can get killed if your raid group can't stay invis.

She is perma-rooted, has many easily killed friends who may or may not heal her, and casts two AEs: Ice Rain and Drowning Panic. She can hit for 2k, and is difficult if not impossible to slow. She drops an Ornate Staff Topper. After you loot it, a chest may spawn with additional loot.

Incandescent Oil

Combine Abysmal Moonwater (found on the bottom of the Abysmal Sea at +485, +70), a Vial of Purified Mana, Essence of Sunlight (dropped in various old world zones), and Glow Lichen (foraged in Nektulos Forest) in a brew barrel to craft a Glowing Concoction, < 103 trivial, trivial needed).

Next kill the untrackable "a greasy clockwork" in the Plane of Innovation. From zone-in, turn left and follow the path to the four-way intersection. Turn left and you cannot miss it if it's up. It hits in the 1800's, AE rampages, and has an AE called Blinding Smog. The fight is apparently very similar to the one with the Junk Beast. It drops Glimmering Oil. After you loot the Glimmering Oil, a chest may spawn with additional loot.

Combine Glowing Concoction, Glimmering Oil, Dragon Egg Oil, and Prismatic Dye (not a Vial of Prismatic Dye) in a brew barrel to craft Incandescent Oil (< 103 trivial, trivial needed).

All-Seeing Eye

This is literally the All-Seeing Eye that spawns in the middle of the Plane of Mischief hedge maze. It is not perma-rooted, looks like a giant beholder, and hits for around 2k. Bring a raid force. Slow is difficult but possible to land, while cripple and weakness are more difficult. Strangle landed fine. It has an estimated one million HPs. Has single-target rampage and procs Gaze of the All-Seeing Eye. Once it's dead, loot the All-Seeing Eye. A chest may spawn with additional loot.

Hand-in

Combine the Purified Gold Filigree, 1st-4th Pieces of the Staff, Ornate Staff Topper, Incandescent Oil, and All-Seeing Eye in the Ornate Staff Chest to craft a Latched Ornate Chest. Give this to Jeb.

a sarnak imitator says 'You have done well, my student. The staff is now complete. In order to stand up to the true fury of discord, it will need purifying, but even in this state it shall protect you well.'

You receive the Oculus of Persuasion, a.k.a. Enchanter Epic 1.5 and the title Coercer.

missing 1.5 chanter drop in OOT
# Jun 17 2007 at 4:41 PM Rating: Decent
I can confirm that this drop is still at the old loc but u have to get off the boat before you actually get into the zone. I have been bugging the GMs trying to get this fixed. I hope that all of you other chanters will do the same till this is fixed. I was able to retrieve mine but i know that the lag challenged people out there will never get it till it is fixed.

We're trying to get this part (page in OOT) and can't get to it because the loc seems beyond the zonewall. We tried zoning in on boat from Freeport, but we're already at an island, well past that part, when we 'zone in'...

(sigh)

Cryptic Page in OOT is broken. I petitioned it and a GM confirmed the problem. With the revamp, they never moved the page to a new spawn point. The problem is the old spawn location is no longer a valid point on the revamped map. The GM forwarded it to the devs but no ETA for when they'll fix it.

It can be gotten, I got it yesterday on May 07 2007. You need to be sneaky though. What I did was take boat from Freeport... once I zoned over I immediately jumped off the boat... this allowed me to swim south to the spawn point and get the ground spawn.

In the end, it was really quite simple, but if you are in Oot trying to swim to it, you can not go there because of the zone wall.

I just made this with my chanter with brewing skill of 133. Made it successfully and got the message that I can no longer advance my skill by making this item. So trivial for Glowing Concoction is below 133.

The first piece of the staff you don't have to go to mistmoore. Taste of Enticement spawns in Lower Faydark near the ranger outpost (merchant) on the hand card between the buildings. Having just finished using this spawn to get the 1st piece of the staff I know it works. There is plenty of running to do, just thought I would take a little bit out. Good luck.

I don't understand the 4 pcs of staff
# Jun 26 2006 at 2:22 PM Rating: Decent
Why does this quest (Enchanter Epic 1.5) list the 4 pieces of staff as "Quest Items"? We used those in the Epic 1.0 to create "A Bundle of Staves" to be turned in for the Staff of the Serpent, which is also listed as a "Quest Item." I know that all 1.5 epics require the 1.0 to be turned in, but why do we have to have those 4 pieces of staff again?

because this is 4 pieces of a different staff. a much better staff =)... and you get them in a much different manner with a whole lot less running around and subquesting. if it wasn't for the fact that the 1.5 bypass sucks worse than the 1.0 quest(s), i would have only gathered these 4 pieces of the staff =P.

Corrections for Epic 2.0

"a luminescent geonid" is single groupable. I killed it with a decent SK and cleric. Very easy. Duoable most likely. A chest does not spawn at the end.

Fight info about the Tenebrous Mountains: I soloed him (8khp/mana buffed approx), no spells. Very easy. There is no intermediate steps between killing the vampire and handing in the blood to Vohnkare.

"a brownie noble" conversation is correct. You are not missing anything.

Chef Brargus is in the caves in Jaggedpine Forest.

Firwyn spawned near the location you gave (+130, -360).

Instead of combining the Oculus of Persuasion and the four Purifying Crystal Fragments together, you first need to combine the four Purifying Crystal Fragments by themselves in the Jeweler's Kit. The four Purifying Crystal Fragments then combine to form "Purifyng Crystal". Once you have the Purifying Crystal, combine that and the Oculus of Persuasion in the Jeweler's Kit to get the message telling you to go to the waterfall.

I hope this helps you Enchanters in your quest! You admins might want to update this and sync it with this quest.

The Volatile Vampyre Blood comes from A Coterie Insatiate in the Tenebrous Mountains (fight info needed). Give it to Vohnkare.

This fight was cake, easily less than one groupable, and did not use the vamp bane weapons from Katta quests.
Was goofing in towers with Pali friend working on 1.5 epic quest, had him lvl 70, and my three boxed team, 68 warrior, 67 chanter, 67 cleric.
GRM'd the group, warrior tanked for agro, with proccing weapons. Pali played undead wizard, nuking, cleric played undead wizard nuking, dotting, healing to cover lifetaps, chanter dotted, and DD'd. He has quite a few hitpoints, but was a simple fight The more you have in his immediate vicinity, the more hp he has to tap back to heal himself.

[Sun Aug 07 18:36:37 2005] Alaurin says 'My crystal, you say? Now that is something I hold very dear. It is my most beautiful trinket. I must say, I've never had occasion to use it however . . . Actually, I believe I can make you a deal.'

[Sun Aug 07 18:36:43 2005] You say, 'what deal?'

[Sun Aug 07 18:36:43 2005] Alaurin says 'I know of a stone that I could use in its stead, but before we go into that I must ask something of you. If you truly desire this piece of crystal, you must bring me the heart of a twisted stoneservant. I have heard stories of invaders that have infested this newly found continent of Taelosia, where they have managed to turn their very servants against them. This sort of utter control is very interesting to me, and I would like to study it. Once I have the heart, I know where you can find a gem to replace my crystal.'

[Sun Aug 07 18:36:49 2005] Alaurin says 'How very interesting. There is a geonid of great beauty that I

have seen nearby in the caves. I have coveted its shining gem for some time. Destroy it and bring me
the stone and I shall let you have your fragment.'
[Sun Aug 07 18:36:49 2005] You gain party experience!!

[Sun Aug 07 19:38:23 2005] a luminescent geonid has become ENRAGED.

[Sun Aug 07 19:38:54 2005] a luminescent geonid goes on a RAMPAGE!
[Sun Aug 07 19:38:58 2005] a luminescent geonid executes a FLURRY of attacks on Bryt!
[Sun Aug 07 19:39:16 2005] a luminescent geonid's corpse crumbles into a pile of glittering rubble.
[Sun Aug 07 19:39:45 2005] --You have looted a Luminescent Crystal.--

[Sun Aug 07 19:46:42 2005] Alaurin says 'It is even more beautiful from up close. Look at the way it

sparkles! Take your fragment then, and leave me in peace.'
[Sun Aug 07 19:46:42 2005] You gain party experience!!

a luminescent geonid spawns in the western most cave of the geonid caves at (-2500, 0). He rampages, flurries, has a stone grip that stuns, enrages and hits casters for a max of 2564, tanks were getting hit for 1400. He has normal magical immunity, shaman and enchanter slows landed for full first time without tashing. He drops a Luminescent Crystal, which looks like an opal. When you hand the Luminescent Crystal back to Alurin you recieve your Purifying Crystal Fragment.

Just a few things...
# Jul 11 2005 at 11:59 AM Rating: Decent
I figured I would add a few things that I didn't really see covered fully on the thread. Once you get the 2.0, and you have to get the crystals, you can get them all in 1 day easy. Vohnkare is the easiest by far. Just head to Tenembrous Mountains, head around the back of the castle, up the hill until you can see it eye level, and you can target the Coterie there. You will get 1 add but it is easily mezzed. Just burn the Coterie down and you have your blood. a brownie noble is the second easiest. You only need 2 people on this one. Clear everyone out of the room before Derikor's ramp. Have a 70 paladin with you (Miriku hits in the 440's). If the Vindicator is up, train him to WL zoneline, have the paladin train Miriku (in the room across the ramp from the Vindicator) to the room you cleared (so when Vindi paths back, he won't die). Then the paladin can kill Miriku easily. If Vindi is not up, then it is easy sailing and you can charm for DPS since Miriku is 100% immune to magic.
Aularin's is semi easy. The Twisted Stoneservent in Riwwi is an easy solo. Just charm one of the Hynid's in the little cages, and run into the arena, you get 2 on you but one can be mezzed while the other is killed. Slow them, rune tank them (you should have 1.5 anyways if your doing the 2.0 so you should have 3300 runes). Easy as pie. You only need 5 people for the Luminecent Geonid also, he hits for 2k max, but has no effects and can be slowed.
Feyana Lightwing's is the hardest IMO. The mountain pooka meat CAN* be solod, but it would be hard (I soloed for mine, ate 5 deaths, got rezzes for like 4). When you have the meat, you don't have to hail Feyana before you talk to Chef Brargus. Just get a group of 5 together and head to Jaggedpine. Both of her effects are useless, since both ranges are 200 or less, and on is single target. The hard part however, she spawns IN a tree... at negative 1, negative 256 (25 something, 6 I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong). Have the tank find the tree and run circles around it. Sometimes however, she won't spawn on time, you have to kill the pather's (including wolves, dryads, griffons, etc..). Firwyn is easy though, but her damage increases as her hp's decrease, so burn hard at around 40%.
Also, you CAN solo Miriku if Vindi isn't up, just rune your pet or rune tank to save dots (since he is immune to magic, your mana wouldn't normally move anyways).
All this is just opinions, so please don't flame. If I have said anything wrong, lemme know.

Just did this fight got the heart on the first kill. My method was I took my lvl 66 pet, put night's dark terror on it, speed of salik, rune of salik, i then runed up myself with rune of salik, etheral rune, and epic rune, I cast desolate deeds on the mob to pull put pet on it and I nuked it with psychosis the entire fight Desolate Deeds wore off at about 6% of the mobs hp and i was still at 75% mana when it died.

Yeah, because the charm nerf helped us out so much didnt it.

Lets go over your statements here:

"100pp donations for kei"

The key word here is DONATIONS. Thats what people hand us for casting KEI. 90% of us dont even care about donations, we'll just cast. If you feel like handing us money, SWEET...if not, enjoy your KEI.

"They get everything written up here while a lot of other classes have to search for their epic 2.0 on a buncha various web pages."

Excuse us because our community decided to actively go out and find this information and give it to Allah's to post for EVERYONE else. A shadowknight didnt figure this quest out, ENCHANTERS did. The enchanter community figured this quest out and put the information on here. Dont blame us because your class hasnt figured out how to use the "Post" button yet.

OMG 100pp donation? who are you kiddng, I no longer accept donations, but when I did, and even now when folks offer, more often than not its more like 10 and 20pp, I never got rich off casting KEI, the only way to really make any plat doing it is to sit in POK for hours and hours on end , and to me , thats NOT playing eq.

I didn't see the post you're quoting, but you made an excellent reply. I only wonder what's stopping him from gathering all this information himself and posting it on the Allakhazam boards for his own epic.

As for the donations, I know very few Enchanters who actually REQUIRE donations, and not a single Enchanter I know has required 100 plat for it. (Although I did meet one Enchanter who once announced to PoK, "I said 'donations,' not 'peanuts.' Anything below 50 plat is peanuts." Jerk. I and other Enchanters gave him hell for it.) I myself do it for free and don't accept donations at all, not even if offered.

And, if your friend is still reading this and if he thinks being an Enchanter is such a cakewalk, he's free to create one himself. A GM once told me that she regarded the Enchanter as the most difficult class to master and the most dependent on the group. Soloing is difficult for Enchanters. It can be done, of course. It's just very difficult. As one who has tried most other classes, I agree. Especially at higher levels, when Charm has been nerfed out of all usefulness.

Don't get me wrong. I think we're a great class, but it's not for those who like a challenge. We don't have the defenses of other classes, such as Feign Death or Evacuate when things don't go right. In terms of damage output, we are easily the weakest of pure casters. It in group situations where our slows, hastes and crowd control skills come into play. Our summoned pets don't attack unless we're attacked and without the Animation Empathy AA, there's no way to call them off if you need to. To say nothing of their weakness as compared to other pets, save the Druid and the Shadowknight. Charm, while giving us a controllable mob, is dangerous causes confusion. When the charm breaks, you'll find that many higher end mobs can summon, making escape difficult if not possible.

So, if he wants to think we're babied because we happen to have players who like to help each other by sharing information, and we happen to have the mana regen buffs that other casters need, I'm looking forward to hearing about the exploits of his high end Enchanter.

My wife plays a chanter, everytime I see someone demanding donations or a minimum donation we just go where he/she is doing this and announce a MGB. :P

I have enjoyed my chanter, which is my main a great deal. She was my first toon created and so very difficalt to play, as I had no idea what I was doing, being a true noob in every sence of the word. Chanters are known to be difficalt, to counter act this fact, we stick together like glue and share every bit of information we can find with out fellow Chanters. so forgive me for saying so, try sharing info with your class, you will find what you are looking for much faster.
as for "110p for kei" I do not in any way as for a donation. most of the time I do not even take one, unless I am in great need of fast fast plat. babied my hind foot. we are a silk class period, our pet does not taunt mobs off us, even whe shiny bob grabs agro he gets beat down fast. our 65 pet is not much of an upgrade, except for hitting for more i am having trouble seeing if he actually has more HPs. more as likely not.
so, creat a chanter and see if you can get her past 25, if so, then you may see what a chanter has to go through just to level. I currently have a zerker, dru and necro alt, and let me tell you none of those 3 put together has died as much as my chanter did in group. I am in no way saing we have it the hardst of any class, I am just stating how sick I am of hearing "chanters are babied and got it made cause they can mez, and got kie" and all sorts of other junk.

With some AAs you will find that your enraged pet will save your butt a lot.
