Canloe Nusback (Warrior Guildmaster) may be found at -20, +535. He's on Find (Ctrl+F). He's on Storm Guard faction.

You say, 'Hail, Canloe Nusback'

Canloe Nusback says 'Step forward and speak up, young ______! Kaladim can always use another warrior. Are you [ready to serve Kaladim] or has a yellow streak appeared down your back?'

You say, 'I am ready to serve Kaladim.'

Canloe Nusback says 'Then serve you shall. Let your training begin on the battlefields of Faydwer. Seek out and destroy all [Crushbone orcs]. Return their belts to me. I shall also reward you for every two orc legionnaire shoulder pads returned. A warrior great enough to slay one legionnaire shall surely have no problem with another. Go, and let the cleansing of Faydwer begin.'

You say, 'What Crushbone orcs?'

Canloe Nusback says 'The army of the Crushbone orcs is deadly indeed. They are great military strategists. It was a legion of them that brought down the great [Trondle Ogrebane]. Speak with Furtog Ogrebane about the Crushbones. He has need of warriors such as you.'

You say, 'Who is Trondle Ogrebane?'

Canloe Nusback says 'Trondle Ogrebane is the legendary dwarven warrior who single-handedly exterminated the ogre clan called the [Mudtoes]. He was recently killed in battle. It took an entire legion of Crushbone orcs to bring him down. Furtog is still fuming about that.'

You say, 'Who are the Mudtoes?'

Canloe Nusback says 'The Mudtoes were a small clan of ogres. They lived somewhere in the Butcherblock Mountains. They had an insatiable appetite for dwarves. They were finally destroyed by the hand of Trondle Ogrebane.'

Crushbone Belt drop from orc centurions all around Faydwer. Hand one in:

Canloe Nusback says, 'Good work, warrior! Now continue with your training. Only on the battlefield can one become a great warrior.'

AWESOME QUEST

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS QUEST!!! I've only had 2 backpacks eight slots full of belts at most and this quest has dinged me twice (lvl 10 and 11). It's great experience, especially if you give him the pads too. The only problem is being a high elf wizard, I can't use any of the stuff he gives you, but I just sell it and no harm done!

I bet your so proud a lvl 15 who hits just as bad as a lvl 1 this was my mistake too, only I only skipped to 6 and couldn`t hit anything it`s only now I`m repairing the damage from this quest. Sell em all 1pp each or use them at higher lvls to get faction you won`t even notice the damage then.

that post by ... err anonymous .. was funny about not being able to take out a level 7 when he was lvl 10. i had the same problem once when i made a twink and my friend kept casting damage shield on me and next thing i knew i couldnt kill deep blues either. solution to this is fight in a group and dont tell them how weak you are. but wait a minute .. ive got a bigger problem. im kos in kaladim and want to change that. how am i supposed to turn these belts in anyway?

You will get a lot of exp, and some pretty good armor for newbies. You usualy get some leather boots, and other asorted items, and it gives about 1-12 silver per vest (varries). The exp makes it worth it, as long as you don't try to power lvl this way (see below). Once I turned in 14 vests and went from lvl 3 to lvl 5. One problem with this though... If you lvl in this manner, your attack will realy suck for your lvl (when fighting normaly, you get better with your weapon). In my opinion, it's an ok quest to do, as long as you don't try to power lvl this way. Just use the belts as you find them (or sell them for the 5-10 gold you can auction them for).

I returned my first belt to him at 'apprehensive', and he gladly took it. Giving him 7 total jumped me from apprehensive to indifferent.

Then hail Conloe and hand in the belts/pads and/or give my bones in for exp and gate back or will I be KOS in or outside the castle. So far I have amassed 6.5 bags of belts, 1.5 bags of shouder pads. But I am still conning "Treatenly" by Guards and "Dubious" by the Merchants. I have killed TONS of Orcs!!

Was it a waste of time?

WOW! This quest is great. I am a lvl9 High-Elf Paladin and I still give all my orc belts to Canloe Nusbeck. Because the dwarfs and high elfs don't dislike each other, I just get about three backbacks full in the bank at Kelethin and then get them out at the bank in North Kaladim. It is good for exp and money, and I go there to get sharpening stones anyway, since none can be found in Felwithe or Kelethin. The items Canloe gives sell for 9silver 9copper. Good money with three bagsfull of orc belts. Also, the monsters in Kaladim are not agressive, so just stick to the road and you'll be fine.

Here is the info you will need to do this quest; I recommend it for people 5-9 for best experience, but more on that in a moment:

CANLOE NUSBACK is the name of the guy you give them to. You zone into S. Kaladim from Butcherblock, run through arch, take left, and wind your ways straight through the buildings to the white one with pillars against back wall. This is the Warrior's Guild. Go up steps, take 1st right, then 1st left. Go down stairs, cross banquet hall, take the right in the hallway, and you will see Canloe. LEFT CLICK on him and then CONSIDER him. Make sure you are at least indifferent. If you have been killing orcs to get your own belts, your faction is probably fine. /HAIL him and he will talk about the orcs, do the necessary [response] in order to receive the quest. (After you do the quest once, it is not necessary to hail him again, you can just come back and keep giving him belts.) Give him belts, up to 4 at a time.

YOU WILL RECEIVE THE FOLLOWING:
Cash (silver), faction, experience, and armor. I have never received cloth armor, I always seem to get leather or patchwork armor. When my 9/10 lvl chars did this, they sometimes got the small leather buckler. Even if you turn in just 1 belt, you still get all this stuff. Pretty darn good quest, IMHO!

Now, if you cannot wear the armor or do not want it, turn around and go back into the banquet hall, there is a guy standing there (forget his name) and you can just sell the armor back to that guy. Then if you're heavy with coin, just take a quick trip into N. Kaladim and stop at the bank! :)

TIPS:

1. PL-ing (power-levelling, for you newbies) yourself through several levels doing this quest is a stupid idea. If you already have the belts, go turn them in, the exp/cash/etc is great, but don't go out of your way to buy belts for this quest. The reason being that you simply will not learn your defensive or offensive skills properly... and there's nothing worse than having somebody in a group who has zero clue what they're doing with their spells, or who has not built up their offensive skills well enough to be effective. (Trust me, I know how hard it is to be patient about levelling... my main took almost a month to get through 19.)

2. If you are running back and forth from Kelethin and Kaladim, do the bard quest while you're at it. As you turn left from the entrance arch, the bard is standing in green/silver armor outside the first store on the left. /HAIL him, respond to him ("I am interested in delivering mail for you" and "I will deliver mail to Kelethin"), then get his piece of mail (lore) and take back with you to Kelethin. Go to Jakub Webdancer in the Bard's Guild in Kelethin (Bard's Guild is located off platform between newbie and POD lift platforms, he's the 3rd guy on the right) and give him the mail. You will get exp, faction and gold. Not bad since you were going back there anyway!

3. Like any quest, the higher your level, the less exp you get from it. With my chanter, I noticed she got maybe a full blue per belt; at 10, she was getting maybe 1/4 blue. At 10 if you're not bored hunting orcs (and you should be getting lego shoulderpads at that level anyway) then pack your bags and travel to another zone, young adventurer! There are all kinds of zones to be explored in lovely Norrath. :)

All that being said, I think this is probably THE best newbie quest I've seen in the game so far in terms of exp + cash etc. Other really great ones are the bandit sash quest (Qeynos/W. Karana), Dervish Cutthroat rings (Ro/Commons), and - if you can avoid being killed by Holly when you do it - the rabid bear/wolf pelt quest (Qey/Q. Hills).

May all your journeys be adventurous!

#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 10 2001 at 10:10 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) DAMN THIS IS AN EASY QUEST. I HAEV A LVL 55 DRUID ON BRISTLEBANE AND I DID THIS WHEN I WAS A MER LVL 4-8 AND LVLED REAL FAST. I DO THIS OON MY OTHERS CHARACTERS EVERY TIME I MAKE ONE. IT LOWERS FACTION YES, BUT THE FACTION THAT IS LOWERED IS THE FACTION OF THE PEOPLE/CREATURES THAT HATE YOU IN THE FIRST PLACE! AND IT SUCKS CAUSE YOU DONT LEARN YOUR SKILLS BUT DONT BUY THE BELTS, SO YOU CAN GET EXP FROM THE ORS AND YOU BRING YOUR SKILLS UP AT THE SAME TIME, THEN YOU GET EXP FROM THE BELTS! IT IS THE EASIEST QUEST FOR LOW LVLS AND I RECOMMEND DOING THE QUEST

I have a now lvl 10 druidwho got 1 whole lvl with these belts. I had about 25 belts and a few pads and got a lvl and a bubble. I started saving up at lvl 4 and when i reached 6 i went to Kaladim from Gfay. Plus i got small patchwork worth about 2gp each. This is a great quest as long as you have alot of belts

I've heard that the bone chip quest in Kaladim does a few things- for 1, give the same XP, and secondly, cost less. I'm gonna try and remember what I said on the other forum, but here's what I remember.

If you turn in 4 bone chips, it gives the same XP (Supposedly) as the CB belts. Now, considering that, at most, bone chips cost 1 gp from a vendor, 4 is 4gp, cheaper than any CB belt. For 20 chips, it's 2 plat. A backpack full, 16 plat. 8 backpacks, 128 plat, which is pretty easy for twinks. Now, if this will powerlevel you to, hmm, 8-10, it will be a tremendous help. I realize that all of your skills will go to ****, but I plan on usng a gnome magi/necro (Not sure which yet) to do this quest, so it won't affect me that much.
RE: Hmm...
# Jul 12 2001 at 1:20 PM Rating: Default
Here's the ideal way (re: MY way) to do this. Ok, you get good exp for bone chips and for the belts, right? As a wood elf druid, I killed lots of decaying skeletons in the Kelethin newbie area, and managed to collect 100 (5 stacks) by level 5. I turned them all in (ooh, my aching wrist!) and got to level 6.5 (that's 6 plus 2 and a half yellows). Then I switched to going for Crushbone belts. Why? Because after level 5, you no longer get experience for the decaying skeletons, but you do get experience for the centurions, along with their belts, and often some cloth armor and weapons. You can do this to about level 9 when most of the centurions stop giving exp. All in all, an easy way to go from level 1 to 9 in two zones in pretty good time, while still managing to increase your skills the old fashioned way at the same time.
CB Belts

This is a great quest for anyone between lvl 5-9 like that person said a little above me. What I did when I was really low lvl was I would join a group and scavenge all the corpses to get all the belts. That's how I got to lvl 9 so fast. After level nine its also nice to get CB Belts because I alot of people will pay 1pp for each belt making you a nice fourtune if you got 20 belts or more. If you want xp for very little work, do this quest.
Wanna do this quest?
# May 21 2001 at 8:38 AM Rating: Decent
Don't buy CB Belts! Unless you have a lot of cash it's not worth the normal 5gp-1pp price!! I use to go out and kill Orc Centerions just for these, not only do you get the belts, but then you get exp for the Centerions and something that may be worth a couple gp! Then you go and hand in the belts and you can get more exp and more items worth a couple gp!! LIKE GETTING DOUBLE EXP AND GP FOR SAME QUEST!!
umm there is a quest thats easy but i dont know if its easie

If you are worried about faction, just do the bone chip quest in Paladins guild - 4 chips each time - raises faction real fast and gives you minor items to sell in addition to exp.

In answer to an earlier question. I started a wood elf druid for this purpose. Four belts at level 1 get the druid to level 2.
Heads Up!!!
# May 15 2001 at 8:51 AM Rating: Excellent
This is a fast way to lvl. But there is an unspoken problem with lvling this way...that is your skill points for your various skills, Offense and Defense in perticular. You can not put training point into those and they only go up through melee... It sucks to be in a group and taking full damage due to the fact you are a lvl 12 and your defense skill is at 25...Defense is very important to a magic class but Offense and Defense to a melee...it is all the difference ...if you want to play this char i recommend no more than 2 lvls then melee for 2-3 then 2 more to keep your points balanced.
Hope this helps.

I was able to do this quest when I conned Dubious to him with my High Elf Enchanter.

I conned him and he came back dubious. I then Hailed him and got the proper reply so I handed him one belt to test the waters and got XP.

I was amiable in short order from handing in two backpacks full of belts.

I am a lvl 11 Wood Elf Ranger. I bought 12 CB belts for 4pp in BB. Great you think except Canloe told me to begone as I am not of the warrior guild.

That means either (a) My faction got lowered somewhere else or (b) lvl 10+ non-warriors can't do the quest.

At least I sold the CB belts for 6pp I suppose.

If you dont know, ... con a merchant first, then if less than indifferent(ie apprehensive so on), go outside their home and kill stuff. It works for everywhere. I personally am still trying to raise my faction w sylnis the bow parts merch in kelethin. And its my home lol. Shes the only one that cons apprehensive to me, and that stinks. Im gonna try doing a little of the low lvl emerald warriors quest to raise the faction???

This is a great quest. I recomend only turning in the belts after you maxed your skills so as not to get behind. Mu skills usually max out at about half a bar and have used the belts to finish off 3 lvl's so far. Really saves time. I'm a bard and have selo's but forthe rest of you get a sow before leaving Kelethin and BB isn't all that safe and the ogers have been out alot lately. I've seen then on almost every run to Kaladim. Got kill but then once. One is a caster and deadly to a low lvl.
Better exp
# Feb 26 2001 at 10:25 AM Rating: Default
The higher lvl orcs (Legionairres and above) also drop crushbone shoulder pads. Hand these in to Canloe 2 at a time for more exp, faction, cash and usually a slightly better item
