If you have the Scythe of the Shadowed Soul or have done the pre-quest, Kazen Fecae may be found at 405, -1135 near Lake Rathetear.

You say, 'Hail, Kazen Fecae'

Kazen Fecae says 'It has been a while since we have talked. You have done well in obtaining your Scythe. The time has come however for you to perform another task for me. I do not wish to waste time, so in short, I want you to collect a most powerful staff for me. I only have a piece of it as the rest has mysteriously disappeared. I wish to research this staff piece but first I need some special research tools. Take this note and travel to Steamfont. Find a gnome named Biddliss Sperandu and give him the note. When you obtain the research tools hand them to me.'

You receive a Note to Biddliss (if you did the pre-quest, you already have the note). Travel to +403, -1137, +4 in Steamfont.

You say, 'Hail, Biddliss Sperandu'

Biddliss Sperandu says 'Go away before I sic the clockworks on ya!'

Give him the note.

Biddliss Sperandu says 'Kazen wants some research tools? That is fine. I want something from you first, however. Bring me four gleaming zraxthil ores and combine them in this satchel. Why do I want them? Why do you care? Bring them to me or you don't get your tools. Now scram!'

You receive a Gleaming Ore Satchel, a 4-slot container. Gleaming Zraxthril Ores may be found as drops in Torgiran Mines. Combine four in the satchel to craft a Sealed Ore Satchel. Bring this back to Biddliss.

Biddliss Sperandu says 'So you're not totally useless after all. Maybe there is a reason Kazen hasn't destroyed you yet. Take these tools and give my warmest regards to Master Kazen.'

Biddliss Sperandu despawns (respawn time needed). You receive Biddliss's Research Tools. Take these back to Kazen Fecae.

Kazen Fecae takes the tools from you. He opens the case and pulls out a small magnifying glass. It seems to faintly glow as he passes it over the surface of the staff piece. 'There appears to be a small rune etched in the wood.' Kazen takes out a piece of parchment and draws a picture of the rune. 'I am not familiar with this rune. Take this drawing of the rune to Ruandia in the Plane of Knowledge. She is an expert on runes and should know what it means. From here on out I will want you to handle the research of this staff through my assistant Tebarin in the Plane of Knowledge. I am busy and do not wish to be disturbed further. Tebarin will communicate to me any progress you have made with helping to recover the staff.'

You receive a Drawing of Rune. Take it to Ruandia in the Plane of Knowledge at +440, +155.

Ruandia takes the drawing from you and studies it for a moment. Her face turns pale as a look of fear overcomes her. 'You must stop your quest for whatever this rune deals with. It will only lead to your demise. This rune has many meanings; the main meaning essentially being 'discord'. I am hesitant to tell you more about it, but I am sure Kazen would not be pleased.' Ruandia writes some directions onto the drawing. 'I am not responsible for the outcome of your quest. Keep that in mind.'

You receive Ruandia's Instructions. Take them to Tebarin in the necromancers guild at /loc -801.72, 1060.68, -155.28 in Plane of Knowledge That places him in Building between the Paineel and Overthere Portal Stones.

Tebarin says 'Kazen informed me that you would be coming. Ruandia deciphered the rune for you? Good. That witch better be accurate or Kazen will have her head. I need you to find two balls of elemental clay and combine them in this box. Return them to me when you have them.'

You receive an Intricately Carved Box, a 4-slot container. Balls of Elemental Clay have been reported as dropping in the Ruins of Old Paineel (The Hole) and Vegarlson, the Earthen Badlands. Combine two in the box to craft a Sealed Intricately Carved Box. Give this to Tebarin.

Tebarin takes the clay from you and combines them into a large ball. He then flattens it out into a thin sheet and carefully carves a likeness of the rune into the clay sheet with a sharp stick. 'The directions say we will require an ancient tome of lost lore. I believe you can find one somewhere in The Hole. When you find the tome, combine it in the intricately carved box with the oil and then hand it to me. The oil will protect the tome for the ritual ahead.'

You receive the Intricately Carved Box again and some Strange Smelling Oil. The Ancient Tome of Lost Lore drops from An Old Gargoyle in the Ruins of Old Paineel (The Hole). Combine the tome and the oil in the box to craft A Protected Tome. Bring it back to Tebarin.

Tebarin presses the sheet of clay into the tome and closes it. A red glow begins to engulf the tome. Tebarin opens the tome and you can see words slowly start to appear on the pages as if a ghost were writing on the pages. Tebarin studies the words within for several minutes. 'There is an explanation of the history of the staff. I have decided that our best bet of obtaining the staff is for me to attempt to summon it from its home plane of existence. I would advise you to prepare for the worst. This could end up being very dangerous. Hold the tome for a moment and try to attune yourself to its magics. Hand it to me when you are ready for me to begin the summoning.'

You receive a Brightly Glowing Tome. When you are ready, give it back.

Tebarin holds up the book with both hands and begins to chant. After several minutes, a sudden flash blinds you. When you regain your vision a few seconds later, you are amazed to see the staff floating in the air before you. Before you or Tebarin are able to take the staff as your own, a booming voice echoes throughout the room, 'All who seek my staff will be destroyed!' An explosion of bright magic stuns you as a magical portal opens. Five heavily armored paladins step through the portal and grab the staff. 'Not if we destroy the staff first!' one of the paladins shouts. The paladins rush back into the portal with the staff. Tebarin tries to follow them into the portal but it disappears. 'This cannot be!' cries Tebarin. 'We must ensure this tome does not also fall into the hands of the paladins. The tome is our only hope of recovering the staff before the paladins destroy it. We must build a [special box] that will protect the tome. Take this rune-covered insert. You will use it to construct the box.'

You receive a Rune Covered Insert.

You say, 'What special box?'

Tebarin says 'I must have a box made to protect the tome from these thieves! In addition to the rune-covered insert I have given you, you will also need one piece of gnarled wood, and one elaborate hinge. Find those items and combine them in a forge to make the box. If you fail, Kazen and I will not be pleased. Now go!'

The Gnarled Wood drops from a gnarled treant in the Plane of Nightmare. The Elaborate Hinge is an uncommon drop from the uncommon A Scrap Collector in the Plane of Innovation. Combine the Gnarled Wood, Elaborate Hinge, and Rune Covered Insert in a forge to craft a Glowing Box of Protection. The combine is no-fail, but you must have Blacksmithing skill >= 100 to attempt it. Give the Glowing Box of Protection to Tebarin in the Plane of Knowledge.

Tebarin says 'This should do nicely. At least I hope so, for your sake. Now that the box is secure, I want revenge on the paladins who took the staff! Find all four of the paladins and take their heads! Once you have their heads, combine them in this sack and hand it to me. I will make sure they are reanimated and suffer for many, many years for what they have done. Now leave me. I must ponder the turn of events that have taken place here.'

(Note: If Tebarin asks for "five" paladin heads, it is a bug in the text. Only four are needed.)

You receive a Paladin Headhunting Satchel. Go to each of the four Karana zones and bring a tracker. All four of the paladins (Sir Arlindo Goldheart, Sir Gerwin Thunderblade, Sir Telian Mottsworth, and Sir Gregon Sulltor) are level 70, very magic-resistant (tash or malo will help greatly). They are snarable and do not summon. However, kiting is difficult because they have a single-target stun and single-target mana tap. They can triple-hit for 1600 a pop, and will flee at low health. Loot their heads: Sir Arlindo's Head, Sir Gerwin's Head, Sir Telian's Head, and Sir Gregon's Head. Combine the heads in the satchel to craft a Full Paladin Headhunting Satchel. Give this to Tebarin.

Tebarin says, 'Your donation will please my masters greatly. I have a special reanimation spell reserved just for these do-gooders. Now you are to travel to Natimbi and find the paladin who has the staff. You might want to talk to the dead you come across as they often have valuable information. Take this orb to help enhance your natural abilities to communicate with the dead.'

You receive an Orb of Deathspeaking.

Head to Natimbi and find Whiahdi near the undead camp, at +385, -935. She will ignore you unless you have the Orb of Deathspeaking.

You say, 'Hail, Whiahdi'

Whiahdi says 'You speak to the dead? Not many have that talent. What is it you want from me, mortal?'

You say, 'I want the staff.'

Whiahdi says 'Yes. I did see a paladin with a staff. Before I give you any more information however. I wish for you to perform a task for me. I need you to travel to Barindu and find my most precious possessions from when I was once alive. A muramite in Barindu killed me and took all I owned. If you can get my earthly possessions back, I will help you in regards to the location of the paladin. Find my brother, Taiandao in Barindu. He is still among the living, but is a slave of the vile muramites. Ask him if he knows of the muramite that killed me.'

Bring a solid group to Barindu. Taiandao is found at +350, -130, inside a hut in the northwest part of the zone, directly north of the Ferubi zoneline.

You say, 'Hail, Taiandao'

Taiandao says 'What is it you want? I will be beaten if I am seen talking to you.'

You say, 'What muramite killed Whiahdi?'

Taiandao says 'Yes I know the one who took her life. His name is Viarglug. I hate him with every fiber of my being. If you kill him, I will forever be in debt to you. He should be somewhere nearby making life miserable for a slave.'

Viarglug spawns at -310, -35 in a cornfield near a tower northeast of the Ferubi zoneline. He is KoS but will not attack unless attacked or hailed. He has a mana drain/DoT AE that will overwrite Lich and KEI/VoQ. Once he's dead, loot Whiahdi's Earthly Possessions. A chest can spawn with additional loot. Give Whiahdi's Earthly Possessions back to her.

Whiahdi says 'You found my possessions! I am most greatful. The paladin you seek did walk by here some time ago. I believe he was on his way to Qinimi. He had a curious staff with him that seemed to whisper dark tidings. That staf seemed to have a very evil presence about it. I would advise you to let the paladin destroy it. I have in my possession another staff of great [power]. I can tell you about if you give up your quest for the paladin and the dark staff. However if you with to [locate the paladin] I will help you since you did help me.'

You say, 'What power?'

Whiahdi says 'I have come to know many spirits from other realms. they speak of a being known as Tarlang who resides in the Realm of Discord in a area known as the Nobles Causeway. He has wronged many of my kin and I wish to see him pay for what he has done. If you bring me his head. I will reward you with a weapon of great power. He believes himself to be indestructible, but he is not. In fact I think you have what it takes to destroy him.'

Head to Nobles Causeway to find Tarlang, along the left path at the end of the tunnel. He is a blue /con. If you have completed the previous steps, hailing him will cause him to respawn as a red /con (to level 70). The red-con can quad for 3200, can rampage, and has an AE melee/casting slow and DoT. This definitely requires a few groups, but probably not a full raid (depending on your gear, of course). He will AE immediately when you hail him.

He stays up for 25 minutes after being hailed. If you fail to kill him or he despawns, you must go back to Whiahdi and say "What power" again, or else Tarlang will ignore you while in the blue-con form.

Once he's dead, loot Tarlang's Head. A chest can spawn with additional loot. Bring the head back to Whiahdi.

Whiahdi says, 'Take this weapon for helping me. I regret giving away a weapon of such power, but having it near me was most unsettling. Do not ask how I obtained it.'

You receive Soulwhisper, a.k.a. necromancer epic 1.5. You also receive a new title, "Deathspeaker," and 5 AAs.

Did the 4 Pallies...
# Aug 31 2005 at 8:07 AM Rating: Decent
.. a couple nights ago with two almost-full groups of severely under-geared 55+... Aggro was bounced back and forth between a druid and myself, had a 69 shaman casting an unresistable malo on them.. Mana drain wasn't cast once, resisted a bout 75% of the stuns.. Ramped on me for a whole 70. (twirls finger in the air)..

Final word: The 4 paladins are pussies..

Lak and pig you both should seek some help dealing with your rage issues to talk like you do about another person over game issues is really mental and the world would be so much better with less of your kind )

Tarlang
# Jul 27 2005 at 7:00 AM Rating: Decent
Have 1.5 now, managed Tarlang with team of just 11.
1 war, 1 SK, 1 Ber, 1 Cleric, 1 Wiz, 1 sham, 2 necros 1 rogue and a couple others.

All decent geared toons except me.

Strat was simple war tanked, SK had ramp.
Cleric and sham healed like mad and the rest of us unloaded like mad. Fight lasted about 5 minutes. War and ber died near the end but we had enough nukes to finish off before Tarlang had chance to chew anyone else.

With decent gear/skilled peeps this is very 2 groupable, without decent gear etc I would recommend plenty of healing and DPS!

Hope to post my experience on the 2.0 fights before too long.

Return to Whiadhi and give her globe, epic 1.5 and 2 staff pieces

Dialog
[Fri Jul 08 00:29:58 2005] Whiahdi says 'It is against my better judgment to rebuild this staff, but I agreed to help you, if you helped me.' Whiahadi takes the staff pieces from you and sets them down on the ground. She waves her ghostly hands over the pieces and they begin to glow. A bright, orange flame engulfs the pieces as they begin to join, forming the staff. A bone-chilling shriek fills your ears. You look down to see the staff fully formed. 'Take the staff and leave. I have done something that I should not have done this day.'

Receive: Deathwhisper and 10 AA

Paladin kite
# Jun 13 2005 at 8:31 AM Rating: Decent
I kited all 4 paladins last night in under 2 hours.

For the 1st one (NK) it was me and a 66 chanter.

We engaged, chanter tashed and my snare was resisted. I got stunned, pet got ate we were in the process of running when we realized that the stuns do not last long, drain only about 200 mana and are very resistable.

With bouncing aggro I was able to summon another pet and continue the fight. I used life burn to regain the aggro and then found that lifetaps were the way forward.

For the other 3 we did EK then SK then WK I brought along my 65 mage bot for extra pet DPS.

The EK one was the hardest managing to stun and hit me and my partner several times and took the longest to kill (about 20 minutes)

The chanter said he got about half his nukes to land usually at a reduced amount.

To med up let your partner get aggro and just stand.

SoW is a must I feel and I assume MR is the resist to have for the stuns.

The few times I got hit it was 1900 500 500 or there abouts.

WK was easiest (or as we did this last perhaps our technique had improved) and EK was the hardest.

Although a tracker is recommended we just ran round looking and perhaps got lucky. The WK took longest to find at about 7 minutes. NK EK and SK we found within 1-2 minutes.

Now to get a Barindu group or 2 going!
Update on 2.0
# May 19 2005 at 5:49 AM Rating: Decent
Update on Deathwhisperer quest (2.0) All I have left is the Orb from Anguish and hopefully I will get it soon. Good luck.

Arlagai the Defiler -- Confirmed that he drops Staff Piece 2. He must be looted first. When you loot him, he spawns a chest. Arlagai is a caster, hits about 1500, little hit points. Also, Arlagai can gate.

Gornogg the Awful -- Confirmed that he drops Staff piece 3. He must be looted 2nd. Gornogg is a war, hits about 2k a lot of hp

Rargari the Destroyer -- Does not need to be killed and drops nothing. This guy is the worst of the 3. He is either a rogue or war, hits 3k and a lot of hp. Has a 2kAE with a 500 pt dot, Dark Inferno neg 350 fire resist and 100 range.

Solo'ing the Paladins
# May 18 2005 at 11:47 AM Rating: Decent
I am a level 67 Necromancer with decent gear including a few OoW pieces. I spent a good amount of time yesterday kiting all 4 of the Paladins. Here is what I learned:

First and most important: have some sort of speed available. I have fabled journeyman boots and they were enough. I am not sure the Run3 AA would be sufficient but I am guessing a SoW potion would. With my boots I had to take around 15 steps to get out of range so that I could stop and cast again. These guys run fast. I also have a black chain bridle but as much as I was stunned and the long time required to get to galloping made using it impractical. Don't worry about mana - as much as you are going to get stunned you will have plenty. I finished the hardest one with 85% mana. In the eastern Karanas I used pretty much the whole zone space to keep him off of me.
Second: ALWAYS keep Forceshield up. The worst one hit me for 1920 3 times. He almost ruined my masters duskwoven robes. Also having Virtue et.al. will help keeping you from taking a dirt nap.
Third: Extended range spell focus. Ceramic Swords are decently priced (but in my opinion extended range for a necromancer is a MUST in all situations).
Forth: He will eat your pet as a snack if you can't hold aggro. I would not suggest using Rune of Death or any pet enhancement. You will have a hard time re-petting (which I am the master of) due to the speed of the paladins. I did not send my pet in until the paladins were below 85% health.
Fifth: Short cast time spells. I have a spell haste item so my DoT spells cast in 2 seconds. Anything longer than 3.5 seconds will be a waste of time.
Sixth: Improve your damage. I have Critical Affliction 3 and Burning Affliction 5 and it still took me the times noted below.
Seventh: They are snareable, but not by us. I never was able to get Darkness in any form to stick.

If you do not have all of the above in your repertoire I would suggest getting someone (druid or shaman) to help you or a full group and go toe-to-toe.

All of the Paladins are basically the same fight. The western Karanas paladin is the easiest and took me around 10 minutes to solo. The southern Karanas was slightly longer - maybe 15 minutes. The northern Karanas took me 73 minutes to kite and the eastern Karanas paladin took 91 minutes of kiting. I was able to land Splurt and Saryn's Kiss over 90% of the time and Funeral Pyre most of the time for the easy 2 and rarely for the hard 2. I also landed Blood of Thule on the easiest paladin. The fight will go like this: cast your DoT, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE, stop, cast another DoT, get stunned and fail casting, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE, stop, cast another DoT, get stunned and fail casting, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE. Lather, rinse, repeat. At some point send in your pet and he will help. Resist and low health aggro are your friends here. The paladins chain cast 2 stuns and with a magic resistance of 188 I resisted about half of the time. They also have a very small direct damage and mana drain spell but as mentioned before with all of the time you spend stunned you won't run out of mana (but you might wear out your keyboard) and can barely notice the direct damage. All of the paladins turned and ran at about 5% health but were moving slowly and I was able to Life-Tap them to death in short time. Also, watch your distance. If, at any time, you get out of their aggro range they will return to their previous path even if you have active DoTs on them. The good news is they are horrible healers so you can re-aggro them with minimal loss. This actually works to your advantage if you lose your pet. You can feign death, let them walk off, re-pet and re-engage with only a minimal of health regained. There was no sign of any Lay-on-Hands type healing.

In general, if you aren't prepared to do this yourself and spend some serious time just grab a nicely geared group of 67-ish players and go monkey-stomp these guys. There are good directions on where to find each of them in the discussions under their specific Alla listings.

Times have changed all races now have it equally hard to get the 1.5s and 2.0s so there is no need for iksars to get their own 1.5s and 2.0s

On the werewolf fight there is no need to kill the four blue wolves just the higher lvl one, killing him will spawn the shady bandit clear accross the zone south of the wolves.

When you hand in the note the wolves will come running from the east so just run west the second you hand in the note no need to FD at least i never did with only run 4.

Singling them is simple and no need for bard for this once you get a certain distance between you and any of the wolves they will stop running after you and just stand there, they DO NOT go back to a spawn point. So the way i do it as to not get summoned or have the 4 lower ones near where we will fight is: have your group a ways away to the west of Yuanda, turn in note and immediately run west (doesnt have to be very far really), cast a NO DAMAGE spell like resist debuff on first one then run them far away like near NK zoneline or something i had 4th viewpoint so i could see them to select different ones while running snare each of the blue ones after id say 10 seconds he will have gotten far enough out of range he will stop running for you (unless you get back in range of him getting out of range makes them stop coming for you but does NOT clear agro) rinse repeat on next 3 till all you have left is the red/yellow one take back to your group and FD near them without being too close to have him smack the casters and tank can agro him anytime to start the fight he can be a little resistant to mag and fire when he wants, dont think i got any BoT's to ever land so may be immune to it got FPOK and DN to land ok esp DN after tash and i just stacked kiss and FOD on had ok tank but bkp healer is usually wanted. Easy fight no need for bard to do it all for you Nec can split them very very easily they dont resist snare or even root hardly at all but i prefer snare for the 2 minutes where root is unpredictable and shorter duration.

As for the pally fights get someone with high MR yes bard is good of course for this but others have a ton these days too, then have them kite pally around have them run them just within range of you to get lifetap dot(s) on it then just FD while dots take their toll "/rinse repeat" watch out for him changing agro to you when you stand to redot like this for the obvious reason of he will beat on you but also they seem to have a buggy thing of losing agro because of distance your kiter will get from him when he stops to running after him and gets on you then they take off running at high speed to who knows where, so just have your kiter make sure to stay near pally if he agros to you when you go to reDOT then FD again yadda yadda (lifetap dots are the only ones i could get to land most of the time so started not even bothering with anything else for it was a waste of mana)

GL and happy hunting, I am at last 1.5 fight and dreading it from the posts i see about how hard he hits 8(

Cannot confirm as I have not done that part yet.

Note that as of 12/25/04 (merry xmas!), Tebarin says FIVE paladins, NOT 4. Any idea where the 5th one is? Tebarin does not respond to "What paladins," "What staff," or "What revenge"?

Edit: looked at www.necro.mylostfantasy.com, and the text there also says five, but the necro posting there only combined 4 heads (successfully.) Looks like a bug in the text from SoE.

Actually this is correct 5 Palidan's take the staff. The Fifth Palidan is the one that has staff you find out form Whiahdi later on that the Palidan is killed...

Whiahdi says, 'I fear for you should you seek the staff, but I promised to help you. I can still hear the staff's dark whispers. It appears that the paladin wielding the staff has been killed and the staff returned to its master...

So see 5 Palidan in all you just never have to deal with him.

Pre-Epic Wolves
# Dec 14 2004 at 8:37 AM Rating: Decent
We killed the 4 woloves with 7 people.
Handed in the note, FD instantly. A bard pulled all 5 wolves, ran around somewhere split them up and faded to lose aggro. He came back with the higher conned wolf by itself no aggro from others. Tank did his thing while I Dotted it supreme. Other dps helped. Took a little bit to kill it, but it was rather easy and they do not corpse camp, they just plain dont path back to their spawn point because they despawn after 30 mins. They do not regen at all if you wipe and have to try again, remeber you only have 30 mins.

Shady Bandit was cake for 1 group
More info on the wolves..

A couple of notes on the first prequest encounter: the "a snarling wolf" mess. When you hand in note, back up as far as possible, turn in, and FD instantly. Then I had a druid use the level 67 harmony to split the wolves. At this point you can single pull the 'named'.

All of the mobs summon and it can soon turn into a nightmare if you have loose mobs that want to summon anything with low hp. You don't actually need the other 'trash' wolves for the drop so when we accidentally got two on the pull, I had the druid kite them. Told him take them wherever you like, I really don't need them. So he took them to God knows where while we focused on the main one - I think this is easier than having a chanter lock them down over and over and worrying about having them around. The main wolf does hit for around 1300 and our enchanter had a hell of a time landing slow after tash even. I think he said somewhere around 8 resists. The next time around (I've done this a few times now.. heheh) we had a shaman on slows - after malos he had 1 resist, and then it was slowed with turgurs for a partial slow. After that point, it's really about the dps. We had two full groups, VT geared at best and some a bit below. As far as I could tell it was infact immune to melee. One of our melees with strikethrough still wasn't doing squat to it, but I could be wrong. Fire landed pretty decently, had some resists on Pyrocruor but magic should be fine. For mobs like that I usually just load up on the lifetap dots and stack them up.

The wolves do NOT regen and if they do it's a very small amount - we had the main guy sit at 44% for 10 minutes after wiping. They also corpse camp which can be rather annoying. On a plus note they do NOT see through invis and they don't have linked agro. One of our "learning experience" wipes, we managed to single out the 'named' very far away. This would have been another way of splitting them. All of the mini wolves are snarable - not sure on the named. He never snared in all of our attempts, but cannot confirm if he's immune or just very resistant.

Another oopsie I made after we finally did finish the fight is I didn't kill Shady Bandit. He's on the south end of zone and if you don't kill him quickly (30 minutes or so I think) he will despawn. This in mind, I just had the druid keep kiting the wolves while we went and downed the bandit.

He wasn't so bad him, a lot less hp than the wolves and he ran when low. Shaman wasn't able to land slow on him but he didn't seem to hurt that much. He was somewhat poison resistant but fire and magic landed fine.

Combine the Gnarled Wood, Elaborate Hinge, and Rune Covered Insert in a forge to craft a Glowing Box of Protection. The combine is trivial between 180 and 230, but you must have Blacksmithing skill >= 100 to attempt it. If you fail, you get the insert back. Give the Glowing Box of Protection to Tebarin in the Plane of Knowledge.
Can anyone confirm that this info is still correct. I have been told that the combine is now a no fail attempt. anyone know?

Hey guys, im a 68 necro and have been working on 1.5 for the past week, i have my Scythe of shadowed soul, (please note: if u dont have scythe, the epic quest for 1.5 is different, and requires you to kill wolves etc, otherwise it startes with Kazen Fecae in Rathe mountains if u have scythe) So far, i have gotten the zraxthril ore from Torigan, the 2 balls of clay, these dropped off "a mass of living Earth" in POE. Got my hinge off a Scrap collector (Note, scrap collector camp sucks, so be prepared to take a while on this) got my Book from an old gargoyle in the Hole in about 1 hour of camping old city area. now im up to the kill the 4 paladins. I tried soloing the paladin in NK today, Sir Gerwin or something, hes level 70 and i got him to 85 % before one of his stuns got me, and he wiped me out hitting for 1350 a hit. I believe they would be soloable with enuff attempts, but one decent group could do it a lot faster. I still need to kill Tarlang and the guy in Barindu, but i can say this, a mob thats hit for 3190 is tough, but remember folks, with Recent patch all OOW zone mobs are now only partially slowable, so i imagine that Tarlang is no longer Fully slowable, making this an even tougher fight. Only way to be sure is to get as many ppl as u can, though prolly 45 + ppl to be sure...make sure u have a few GOOD tanks, and plenty of clerics and u should be fine.

Anyway, hope this helps someone, if u need a good walkthrough (only for ppl that have Scythe of shadowed soul already) then u can go here.. http://necro.mylostfantasy.com/Soulwhisper.html

Good luck and may the devil take your soul

Epic 1.5
# Sep 25 2004 at 3:50 PM Rating: Default
Got my epic and here are some notes worth mentioning:
1) Elemental Clay does not drop in The Hole. I clear all elementals there 3x and never dropped. They do drop in Plane of Earth, both A and B. I auctioned for mine in PoEa for 500p each and got them immediately, and saw one in PoEb while on raid. The Ancient Tome can also be bought (got mine in Bazaar for 300p).
2) Have no idea where these werewolves in the posts come from. I didn't have to fight any.
3) The paladins in the Karanas heal themselves. Start Mind Wracking them from the start. Chances are you can keep them from healing by the time they reach 50% hp. Use all fire spells. I used a druid to be a rabbit. Did without a shaman for the first two. Shaman debuffing the last two makes the fight go a LOT faster. The pally in EK has the most HP.
4) Tarlang also rampages. Also, when I did it after patch on 9/23, the chest never spawned. I /bug 'd it.

I am the Necro that got her epic with a VT guild. For an idea of who we are, check out our webpage. Tarlang is still the most recent news - 9/30/04 update.

http://www.invictvs.com/

Our clerics kept the tank alive, but I would suggest switching out the MA when defensive drops. Balance and keep him off the wall and away from the edge.

If you have quality raiders, then you will be fine. It's much more about skill than equipment.

Feel free to post again or e-mail me if you have questions.

This mob is level 73 not 75.
He is a Kyv Heartpiercer Model..nothing spectacular. He has some PR AE spell wtih -150 resist check, as long as you have 320 and over PR you will be fine
hits for almost 4K, although fully slowable.
4 Cleric CH chain works fine, 5 clerics if your tank is not 11K+ raid buffed
Lots of hps - is a 10 minute fight with 4 groups of time/GoD equipped peeps
Does rampage but nothing to worry about just have spot healers in groups to heal people who take hits
Lots and lots of DPS...go
