Once you've completed the Necromancer 8th Rank quest, head to the Overthere and levitate down into the pit. Seek out an Iksar Necromancer named Ixpacan at +55, -1060.

You say, 'Hail, Ixpacan'

Ixpacan says 'Hmm. . .is there something I can help you with? I am far too [busy] to listen to your problems though so I take that back.'

You say, 'Why are you busy?'

Ixpacan says 'It is none of your concern unless you are truly gifted in the dark art of necromancy. If so, you will have some form of proof to show me.'

Give him your Necromancer Skullcap (8th necro skullcap).

Ixpacan says 'Oh, I see you are truly gifted in the dark arts. Well I will explain my dilemma to you now if you [wish to hear].'

You say, 'I wish to hear'

Ixpacan says 'I have recently found a volume on summoning a great minion from the Great Library of Charasis but I can't find all of the needed items. Being as I am one of the [sages of Cabilis], I request you go and [collect these items] for me.'

You say, 'What sages of Cabilis?'

Ixpacan says 'Ah, they are all but a memory now. We used to be welcome within the city of Cabilis but our quest for greater power led to our exile. No matter now, go retrieve the items and you will be one of the chosen to walk beside greatness.'

You say, 'I will collect these items'

Ixpacan says 'As you should broodling. The the first is a brittle bone, which was once used for reincarnations. The second item is a poisoned soul, this is from an iksar that died a cruel and twisted death. The death was so awful, it's spirit still roams around angry. The third you will find in the burning heat. The final item is a gem of reflection. I have yet to find someone that knows how to create one. Even those fools in Cabilis probably wouldn't know. Maybe you can locate that one yourself. Bring all of these items back to me and I shall do the rest.'

Ixpacan gives you Ixpacan's Tome, a four-slot container. You'll need to obtain four items:

First Item: Poisoned Soul
Head to Emerald Jungle, look near the Cliff bottom in some of the ruins for an angered spirit. Kill it and loot a Poisoned Soul. This is a static spawn, so is pretty much always up.

Second Item: Gem of Reflection
Find Harbinger Glosk in the Cabilis Tower of Death (Cabilis West Necromancer guild).

You say, 'Hail, Harbinger Glosk'

Harbinger Glosk halts his chanting. 'You dare to interrupt me? You had best have a good reason. I care not for small talk.'

You say, 'Tell me about the Gem of Reflection'

Harbinger Glosk says 'I have not been asked that in ages but I can recall the last person that asked me. If you are in league with that scoundrel Ixpacan, I will slay you where you stand! But if you are not, you will not mind ridding your kin of a [menace] as of late.'

You say, 'What menace?'

Harbinger Glosk says 'It seems as though a rogue marauder in a jungle near here has attacked several of our trade suppliers. If you can bring me back his head I will gladly share the information you have asked for.'

A rogue marauder is found in Trakanon's Teeth. Kill him, loot his head, and take it back to Harbinger Glosk.

Harbinger Glosk says 'You have done well in doing what I have asked. To make a gem of reflection you will need some Mt Death mineral salts, a green goblin skin, spiroc bone dust, essence of rathe, blue slumber fungus, and a vial of pure essence. Combine all of these in this container and you will have what it is you seek.'

Harbinger Glosk gives you a six-slot container, Glosk's Sack. Go get the six items and combine them in the sack to get a Gem of Reflection:

Pure Essesnce (no drop) - from a named drixie, Marinda Flockwings in Firiona.
Mt. Death Mineral Salts - from goblins in Frontier Mountains, Droga, Nurga.
Green Goblin Skin - also from goblins in Frontier Mountains, Droga, Nurga.
Spiroc Bone Dust - from Spirocs in the Timorous Deep.
Blue Slumber Fungus - ground spawn in Lesser Faydark, also dropped by myconids in Sebilis.
Essence of Rathe - a spell research item from countless mobs all over Norrath.

Combine these six items to get the Gem of Reflection.

Third Item: Brittle Bone
Head to Charasis. Brittle Bone is a random drop off any skeleton in the zone. You need not even head into a wing to get this drop, falling off the entrance and killing the skeletons in the basement is all you need to do.

Fourth Item: The Burning Heat
Head to Skyfire, from the druid zone-in head north to the first volcano you see (shows up as a lake of lava on the map, there are three in the zone, you want the one north and closest to druid portal). Climb to the top and jump in the lava. A lava walker will be floating inside the lava. The Lava Walker looks like a chromadrac drake, cons indifferent. Pull him out of lava and kill him. He drops the orb you need.

Now, combine all four items and hand the tome to Ixpacan in the Overthere.

Ixpacan says 'Wonderful! You have brought all of the items I have asked for. Your future seems very bright with the rest of the Sages. Step back now as I conjure the child of Charasis.'

As Ixpacan starts his incantations, you can see an image begin to appear from the shadows.

Ixpacan says 'It's out of my control! Defeat it before it destroys us both!'

A Child of Charasis spawns. Kill it, loot it's remains, then turn them in to Ixpacan.

Ixpacan says 'I see now that I lack the skill necessary to control the Dark Arts. Maybe it would be wiser to allow another such as yourself to continue forward. Please accept this token as a reward in your mastering of the Dark Arts.'

You receive the Demi Lich Skullcap.

This quest can be soloed by a 65 darkelf necro I just did it , it took me a day and a half to collect everything i needed. The hardest part would of had to been getting the brittle bone in charsis (now im kos in overthere but well worth it)It takes 3 charges of illusion of iksar for when you get the quest , go to cabilis and to finish the quest, the child of charsis is easly soloable just toss on your necro slow and let your pet do the rest good luck everyone Ravey Shadowspirit 65darkelf,necro

This mob was surprisingly tough in that it resisted everything I cast, except Seduction of Saryrn and undead DD spell. So I just healed the pet a lot. It was a lot closer than it should have been. I started out at 3m (mistake of underestimating the mob) and finished with a scant 1m. And get shackles up.

My partner and I got 2 brittle bones out of the basement. Took about 4 hours total. I believe both drops were from Sepulcher Skeletons.

My pet got hung up on the terrain a lot, be careful. And the named mobs there can kill you quick.
Possible MQ for another necro?

I just completed this quest after about 4 days from Cap #1 to Cap #9, got lucky on a few drops but wasted time on Swashbuckler who apparently doesn't spawn anymore.

At any rate, I noticed that Ixcapan gives you back the #8 cap when you get the book. So I was curious if you could (and I'm not sure why someone would want to but ...) hand in the #9 cap a second time to get the book, get the items again, then have someone else loot the Child's remains so all they do is turn them in for the 9th cap. Something to think about. I'm wondering if the quest is (slightly) broken as all previous quests keep the old cap.

Also ... you can usually purchase the 5 droppable items for the Gem of Reflection in the Bazaar.

Another point of interest, since I only had 1 inventory slot open I tried to do the marauder head turn in first so I could complete the Gem and he returns the head. You MUST go talk to Ixpacan in OT first before you can turn in the head.

THe quest description says it drops off any skeleton in charasis, is this a fairly rare drop off them, or am I just unlucky?

I eventually got the brittle bone from the skels in the pit right after you zone in. I did it in two sessions but probably (rough estimate) got it after about 10 spawn cycles. It does seem a bit uncommon.

Here's the info I have as related to a lvl 65 solo.

Spells that Landed: Shackle, Horror, Sarin's Kiss, Destroy Undead, Scent of Terris

Spells that did not: Darkness, Blood of Thule

The 122dmg per hit and 8Khps I think is about accurate. although the scorps did aggro on me for some reason.

Max hit is 122, it is undead, but I haven't tried to slow it. It has 8kish HPs and went down rather quick. Can be soloed (was 65 when I killed him) by chain casting Destroy Undead, it does not summon.
Was db to me at 65, fairly easy mob.

i soloed all of my caps at lvl 56. worst drop i had was the tomb raider because it was insanely long. as for the rest of the caps they all had atleast a small challenge. as for the child it took me to 6% hp before i got off bond of death and then only thing i could really do is lifetap so use lifetaps to kill em and/or heal pet. if i never have to see chief rokgus again it will be too soon.

u got 2 earz and one mouf...
u should listen 2wice as much azz u tolk..

-- You have looted a Child of Charasis Remains --

(Turn in remains)

Ixpacan says 'I see now that I lack the skill necessary to control the Dark Arts. Maybe it would be wiser to allow another such as yourself to continue forward. Please accept this token as a reward in your mastering of the Dark Arts.'

I put in the to. Seems like the text has a grammatical error.
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 05 2004 at 9:40 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) It doesn't need the "to" there. It's correct as it is but it means the same thing with or without it...

First post on this quest. I must say this item was well worth the wait. When I made my iksar necro I was just doing it for the regen then they patched in this new regen system and it got tons better. Then one day I just happened to want to check out the skullcap quests and I go all the way to 8 then they add in this item with a better click effect than our friggn epic.

From experience in using it, there is no limit to it's usefulness in farming being that it just adds free damage at any time to any fight and using it on a mob basically negates any stray lich damage you are ever taking. Maybe it's not very useful in a group but when a pull is incomming and you really don't want to create much aggro yet just click the cap and you get to start off the fight with a solid 122 damage a tick and healing for any damage you might accidentally take.

Ok anyway I can name the items you need for the gem part:

Mt Death Mineral Salts
Green Goblin Skin
Spiroc Bone Dust
Essence of Rathe
Blue Slumber Fungus
Vial of Pure Essence

Most of these items I purchased in the bazaar but each I found listed on allakhazam except for the pure essence. It is a no drop item from a named Firiona Drake in Firiona Vie named Marinda Flockwings. The book you get from combining the 4 items together I think may have been called Ixpacan's Book but I can't be sure being that I only had the item for a span of like 30 seconds...

I could have sworn that the name was Ixcapan, but the name of the item you get by combining the fiery orb, brittle bone, poisoned soul and gem of reflection is Ixpacan's Tome.
