You say, 'Hail, Silverwing'

Silverwing says 'So, young one, you have come to seek an audience with me. What do you want? Hurry up and speak carefully. I'm not known for my patience or trust of your kind. Perhaps you can [assist] me by collecting a few items, then I may learn to be more trusting.'

You say, 'I will assist you.'

Silverwing says 'Very well. One of my scouts has been attempting to acquire the locations of powerful, yet inscribable words for me, but has not returned as soon as I'd like. I've grown impatient -- as you might guess. These words contain great magic, I'm sure of it, and when incanted correctly, create a fabled spell of extraordinary power. I had obtained some, but more are missing. Here is my lexicon and a list of found words so far. Go quickly and acquire all eight of the words I need and the spell scroll.'

You receive a book called Silverwing's List, which identifies as "List of missing words," and Silverwing's Lexicon, an 8-slot GIANT container, which identifies as "An empty lexicon." The book reads as follows:

1) Nadox
2) Siren's Grotto
3) The Deep
4) Torment

The four words mentioned are drops, and the mobs they drop from can appear to glow. The drops have been reported as follows:
  • Crypt of Nadox:
    • A Broken Skull Acolyte
    • A Broken Skull Seeker
  • Siren's Grotto:
    • A Siren Myrmidon
  • The Deep:
    • An Elder Thought Horror
    • A Thought Horror
    • A Thought Horror Evoker
  • Plane of Torment:
    • A Kaniz Hunter
    • A Kaniz Ravager
The four words not mentioned in the list are ground spawns: one outside Venril Sathir's room in Karnor's Castle, one in King Tranix's room in Nagafen's Lair (a.k.a. Solusek B), one in the center of the circle in the first house on the right from zone-in in the Plane of Valor, and one straight out in the hallway from zone-in in the Temple of Veeshan.

Combine all eight words in the book to craft a non-container Silverwing's Lexicon. Give this to Silverwing.

Silverwing says 'I'm somewhat impressed, stranger. You cannot imagine the power this spell may unleash. Take this reward and leave me. If the reward I have given you is not pleasing, hand it back and I will give you a different one. Make haste and leave me be, for I will need to recite this spell in private.'

Casters get a Ring of the Silver Dragon, and melee classes get an Earring of the Brood. If you'd rather have the other, for whatever reason, give what you got back to Silverwing.

Silverwing says 'How utterly obtuse and arrogant. How about this one then?'

You receive the other one.

Quest Broken on Ragefire

This quest is currently BROKEN on our time locked progression server Ragefire. The ground spawn Inscribable Words are NOT spawning in King Tranix's throne room and also NOT spawning in Temple of Veeshan. I have used /bug to report the problem and also used the Daybreak Games support procedure to report the quest as broken. I got one reply saying they would send the information to someone to see if it could be fixed...and that was about 2 months ago. No help as of yet.

Well....maybe if I had read better. This quest is listed as being in "era" for Gates of Discord. I guess it isn't ready to be completed yet. SIGH!

At the entrance after you go down the hallways with the pictures you'll come across a door on your left or right. Go in either, then head to middle of the crossroads which lead to various north, west, or east sides. In the middle of the crossraods is a big pillar-like thing. Retrace a couple of steps back and you should see it, or someone else took it recently and it hasn't respawned yet.

We just got the words in The Deep. They dropped from An Ancient Thought Horror for ranger epic 1.5. I just thought I would share that.

I have done this quest 3 times now and in regards to the DEEP. First time I did this quest, I spent countless hours at the shrink wand camp trying for a drop. I must have spent 40+ hours and only was able to get some spells / componants and the occasional shroud from the named guy. Eventually I had friends help kill elders to get a drop. This was about 4 months ago. Well today, Took the cleric / necro in and the very first Evoker dropped the indescribable words. 4 clearings later, another evoker dropped the words. This was approximately 30 mobs with two drops. which tells me i'm epically lucky as of yesterday, or they have increased the drop rate on evokers near the elders. BTW, elders are now slowable.

The easyest way I have found to kill them is to take over the Alter room where Spiritseeker Nadox spawns.

This on most maps is marked as Alter room. From the hidden backway you coem into the room where " A Cloister Sentinel " spawns. on the map you will see a rectangular room just north of that, this is the spot.

The room has 13 mobs in and around it. all of them are Seekers, Acolytes or Prophets. I was getting a word drop ever other clearing of this room.

If you run out of those mobs and have extra time you can pull from the rooms to the west often marked on maps as Ironmaden room.

Hope this helps
What words?

Since you can't identify the words, it's a bit of a trick to use an unintended feature to magic up the item number. You do this by making an item link and putting a semicolon in front of it. No space between semicolon and link. If you do it right, it will tell you that you issued an invalid command, and what that command was.

You get a bunch of numbers, like so...

;A Broken Dragorn Sword Tip
Invalid Command:
0036501-00001-00001-00001-00001-000010CFAA05DA

The first part is item number, the 00001s are empty aug slots (though that by no means guarantees you can even aug the item once, and I have seen none with five slots), and at the end of the last 00001, the unique item ID, and the trailing A is the first word of the item's actual name.

Likewise, this works for inscribable words. These are the item number (ie the first set of numbers) plus zone of origin for each.

(dropped)
0069332 Deep
0069331 Siren's Grotto
0069330 Torment
0069329 Nadox
(groundspawns)
0069328 Karnor's Castle
0069327 Solusek B, Nagafen's Lair
0069326 Plane of Valor
0069325 Temple of Veeshan

In case anyone is interested about the ground spawns repop time , here is the best info i got for ya.
Tonight while scooping up all the ground spawns, i headed to poV first . I knew where that drop was cuz i had seen it before. It was there, I gathered. Then I headed to DL . As i arrived, and made my way down to VS's area , i saw a warrior in the area. I asked if he was there for the ground spawn , or VS - but he was there for the spawn . He had just picked it up . I asked the warrior which others he needed so that he and i were not bumping routes, and he said Sol B.
At this point, i headed out of KC, and met a druid friend in poK . We ported to CS- and made our way to ToV to collect the ground spawn from there. It was laying on the floor and i gathered.
Since i knew the warrior had just headed to Sol B , i decided to check KC again, and sure enough , the ground spawn was there. After i gathered that , i headed to Sol B and the ground spawn i needed there was also laying there.
So while i dont have any exact time, i can tell you its a short period of time between ground spawns. Most certainly less than 45 min.

on handing back the earring Silverwing says,
"How utterly obtuse and arrogant. How about this one then?"
and gives you the ring instead.
giving back the ring gives the same reply and the earring back.

Doing this quest with my Druid and she got the Earring (unuseable by Druids) and handed it back to get the Ring...

Silverwing seems to always give the Earring first, and regardless of what class is doing the turn in...

They are class specific and no drop. The reward will be given to you based on your class.

NO DROP doesn't mean you can't give it to a mob; it simply means you can't give it to another player.

The question arises about alternate rewards because Silverwing itself mentions the possibility in its last line of dialogue above. It's still unanswered as far as I know.

Worst camp so far is the Nadox ones for drops. Got the other 3 in a reasonable timeframe but after clearing the room for 4 hours i still didn't see a drop.

2 words dropped in 6 kills off the elder thought horrors. These are unmezable, unslowable, unpaxable, and unrootable and hit for 500. Better bring a good posse. Otherwise kill the easy ones, but that will probably take a while.

SG was about an hour to get to a good spot and 1-2 more hours to get 2 drops. Probably 1 in 20 kills.

Torment was about about 1 in 20 or 25 off ravagers or hunters. No clean camp spot there so unless you pull to the bridge expect adds on your camp. If you pull to the bridge then you have a few other mobs in the way to clear each cycle.

Just thought I would mention, in about 500 kills of horror trash on the far side of the Deep, I have never seen the words. Either that is one hell of a long streak of bad luck, or they only drop off elders. I've given up trying to solo that part and will collect the others first, then get some friends down to kill the elders.

I got the word from the deep at the intersection just before Koxiux the Imperceptible off A Thought Horror Spiriter, if i recall correctly. I was there solo, and only had a chance to get in about 3 kills before I had to go.

down the "hole" in the north part of the zone. you go all the way down to the bottom and swim north and come up behind them. break in is kind of a ***** can of the ones you can see that aggro in the water.

After finally getting to ally faction ( i'll never harm another Guardian wurm) a total of about 20 hours grinding in mistmoore over a couple days. I started to gather the words, well the ground spawn ones were rather easy at first, 2 I found right off the bat , and a third later that evening after a raid, I do believe that Tormax's was the hardest to find up , probably because of the way level 65's like to pillage that chamber, the last I obtained the next day sometime. The dropped ones I knew were going to pose a challenge, I had read other posts and noticed the long hours involved. Anyhow I just stuck to the Origional post at the top and within around 4 hours total , including KEI stops in PoK, I had 3 of the words. The Torment drop from a Kaniz Hunter about 1 hour total on that one, (and that included the wipe). Next we hit the deep and boy is that place over crowded with mobs, whoever populated that zone is out of their tree, I mean common, Invis breaks and you get 11 adds. About 2 hrs on that one, on to Nadox.
Oh by the way this is all me 65 Monk, a 65 shaman and a 65 paladin , well an AFK paladin, and a teency bit of Beastlord to get it going.
Killing the light blue Alcolyte's wasnt showing much promise, as I'd been there before soloing them cause it went kinda fast. However this time the shaman was with me and I picked up a 48 cleric for some easy PL'ing , * why not share it * so we started at the light blue alcolyte's again , nothing for 30 mins,, move down the hall towards spiritseeker nadox's room and start killing the Dark blue ,( drk blue to lvl 65 now I'm talkin) Seekers and Alcolytes and within 20 mins, Drop. all in 4hrs time max. So Get to it. We killed that spiritseeker Nadox guy too, Monk tanking, resist his ae easy with 300+ dis resists, dropped the belt and only that. Good luck,, its worth doing !

The deep is very easy to AE because the mobs have low HP. At least with a druid. Regen, DS and two AEs should clear any pre-bridge train. It gets a litlte hairier when you get close to Ssra.

Another tidbit / update. I did get the Deep page off an Evoker. It took about 10 hours of mass Horror slaughter. So far I've been clearing the Spiritmaster's room for about 8 hours. No pages... so luck is definately playing a big part in this quest.

The drop from The Deep must be more common off Elder Thought Horrors than normal ones. The only mob I have found with it is an elder. Killing Thought horrors over the bridge for 3 hours yielded nothing. 2 boxing 65 nec + 65 enc I can walk through the caves ripping things up so you can imagine, I have killed a lot of thought horrors. I may try the elder who is glowing but Im still shivering from the days when THO raids were hard. THO takes, what, 3 groups now? lol
Why 65?
# Aug 02 2004 at 4:25 PM Rating: Decent
Most of the droped items appear to drop from 55-61 level mobs why then is the quest listed as 65?
I have to be missing somthing?
SolB word?

Can anyone give me an exact loc of the SolB groundspawn please? Ive been back several times over several days and cant find it
RE: SolB word?
# Aug 01 2004 at 3:52 AM Rating: Decent
Right in front of King Tranix's throne. When I got it, I saw Nagafen was up. Rather than spending a bunch of time clearing, I simply ran in, grabbed it, and headed for Naggy's room for a courtesy port out.
Final Dialogue
# Jul 31 2004 at 2:14 PM Rating: Excellent
Final Dialogue:

Silverwing says 'I'm somewhat impressed, stranger. You cannot imagine the power this spell may unleash. Take this reward and leave me. If the reward I have given you is not pleasing, hand it back and I will give you a different one. Make haste and leave me be, for I will need to recite this spell in private.'

NO final faction hit.

On a side note, in the deep I'd suggest camping the Elders, cause the normal mobs drop it extremely rare, while the Elders drop it pretty common. But beware, they have huge agro ranges and you will get adds on every pull which you dont expect. You are also unable to paci them. The Thought Horror Overlord is permarooted so dont mind him.

I have 3 of the 4 ground spawns needed for this quest. I am missing the one in Venril Sathir's room. I have been there 3 or 4 times over the past 2 days and can't seem to find it. Does anyone have any idea exactly where in his room I can find it? Or spawn times on the item? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

thanks :)

The ground spawn isn't actually in VS's room. Its outside his room where VSR spawns. Same spot most people kill VS. It spawns on the floor between the 2 doors to VS's room. Hope this helps.
A Kaniz Ravager
# Jul 27 2004 at 9:00 PM Rating: Decent
I went to torment with a 65 Druid, and duoed, skipping all other mobs excluding Kaniz Hunters, because I thought only they dropped the Words.

However, we were forced to fight a kaniz ravager, the one at zone-in, and well, he drops the Words. Just a heads-up that a Kaniz Ravager can also drop the Inscribable Words.

How common are the drops off mobs?
RE: Rarity
# Jul 29 2004 at 4:54 PM Rating: Decent
It all depends. Do yourself a favor and have your particle effects up a bit. It helps you to see that certain mobs glow and these are the mobs that drop the words.

In the Deep, it took me approximately 3 hours to get one and that was only because it dropped for another group nearby.

In Nadox, it took about 2.5 hours of clearing the Spiritmaster room and it dropped off of a seeker.

SG was easy. There were 4 glowing mobs up when we went, so most of the group got one in 15 minutes. I know someone else did it, and it took about 2 hours clearing to get one to pop.
