GoD Jewelcraft Collect: Help Rilwind

This quest will require six Raw Crimson Nihilites, found uncommonly off pretty much any mob within the Gates of Discord. Your Jewelcraft skill will be raised to 54 by doing the 140 combines associated with this quest.
You say, 'Hail, Rilwind Sitnai' Rilwind Sitnai says 'Greetings. We are busy here, and I have little time for pleasantries. I can sell you supplies, if you have need. I can even help you fix up that old Jeweler's [Kit] of yours. Or perhaps you are here to [assist] me with my work?' You say, 'I am here to assist you.' Rilwind Sitnai says 'I haven't the time to keep up with the needs of the Wayfarers, I have more urgent matters to attend to. We have discovered a rare form of a relatively worthless mineral. Some trauma seems to have affected the local ulexite, striating it, which has given it the unusual property of image transference, as well as imbuing it with some sort of magical properties. I can only imagine the sort of magical and geologic upheaval that would be required to make these changes in ulexite! I certainly would have been a dramatic experience. Study of this material is my primary concern. I also have a duty to the Wayfarers Brotherhood. If you could attend to some of my tasks, I would be grateful. If you can relieve me of enough of these [tasks], I can continue my study of the [Shimmering Nihilite].' You say, 'recipes' You have learned the recipe Simple Clasp! You have learned the recipe Wayfarer Signet Ring! Glirina Morningbloom says, 'Here you go.' You say, 'What Shimmering Nihilite?' Rilwind Sitnai says 'Nihilite appears to have two forms. The Pale Nihilite is relatively common. Shimmering Nihilite is infused with crystals that make the usual milky color of the stone glimmer with specks of light. It is truly beautiful, but hard to find. It seems to be concentrated in the interior of Taelosia. If you can find Raw Shimmering Nihilite, I can prepare it for you. In exchange, I will keep a small amount of it for my own work.' Disregard the spew about shimmering nihilite. What you need to do is go to Glirina Morningbloom, another jewelcraft merchant found in the same room as Rilwind. Upon handing her a Raw Crimson Nihilite (formerly Raw Pale Nihilite), you'll receive two Crimson Nihilites. Glirina Morningbloom says 'I am glad that I could assist you. If you discover more Raw Crimson Nihilite, please bring it to me.' Give one Crimson Nihilite to Rilwind, and he'll give you some materials to combine (10 combines) as well as a book: "Weapon Adornments." Rilwind Sitnai says 'Good. We are in need of some simple pendants made from Pale Nihilite, both for sale and for some of our research. Just take this Small Pale Nihilite and Thin Silver Chain and combine them in your Jeweler's Kit. Give me the pendants and I will be grateful.' You'll receive 10 Thin Silver Chains and 10 Small Pale Nihilites. Combine these one at a time in any jeweler's kit to produce 10 Simple Pale Nihilite Pendants. Hand these pendants unstacked to Rilwind. Rilwind Sitnai says 'Well done. I still have [tasks] for you.' You say, 'What tasks?' Rilwind Sitnai says 'There is much that needs to be done. I have several simple items that need to be made from the Pale Nihilite that Glirina can prepare for you. If you bring me some, I can set you to work on creating items from them. This will give you practice working with Nihilite and will give me more time to work on my research. Because I am asking you to provide the material for this work, I will be able to reward you more quickly than Glirina can. Just hand me the Pale Nihilite when you are ready to begin.' Hand him another Pale Nihilite for 10 more combine materials. Keep repeating this process and combining the materials. After 140 combines (Simple Pale Nihilite Pendants, Rings, Earrings and Silver Rings), and after handing him another Pale Nihilite: Rilwind Sitnai smiles at you. 'Thank you for your assistance. You have done enough to earn my gratitude. Speak with Glirina and she will show you the secret of preparing both Pale and Shimmering Nihilite. Be certain to mention to her all of the [work] you have done for us.' To Glirina Morningbloom You say, 'What work?' Glirina Morningbloom smiles broadly at you. 'You have been of great assistance to me. It would be improper for me to ask more of you. I will find others to do these tasks. I have learned much doing research while you have been helping me. Let me show you the method I have discovered for preparing the Nihilite.' She works swiftly, but you understand what she is doing as she carefully prepared the soft stone. 'Here is some of the special polish that we have devised for use with the Nihilite. What I have shown you will work for both the Pale and Shimmering Nihilite and you should be able to get useful stones from Raw Crimson and Raw Shimmering Nihilite.' You know you can reproduce the polish she has given you. You are certain that you can improve on the method she has shown you, given enough practice with the Nihilite. So far a week into Gates of Discord on Mangler, I yet to see any raw crimson nihilite or raw shimmering nihilite. The only Nihilite I have yet to see drop or in the /bazaar /barter has been shaped pale nihilite or shaped shimmer nihilite, which appear to just be vendor junk.

Don't know when they changed it or I never read the patch about this but after a few trial and errors, I found out that if I hand in the Raw Crimson Nihilite to Neysia Morningbloom instead of Glirina Morningbloom, I would get 2 Crimson Nihilites. I would hand in the Crimson Nihilite to Rilwind Sitnai and would get the items need for the combines.

Ok so you get two Crimson Nihilites instead of Pale Nihilites from Neysia Morningbloom for handing in 1 Raw Crimson Nihilite?

If you are reading this then don't worry about it. The item raw pale nihilite does not exist. It never came up in allakhazams search. I read that part of the task and i was like wtf. I never heard of that item before. I guess the name got changed at some point. Its now raw crimson nihilite and it is very easy to find now a days.

Hand Neriya a raw crimson Nihilite to get back 2 crimson nihilite. Turn one in to Rilwind, get the pieces and to the combines. There I got stuck for a bit; failed a combine but recovered one piece. What you need to do then is to delete that left over piece, turn in the combines you've done, and then start from all over again, giving him a new crimson nihilite.
The information here is not correct, the NPC you give the raw crimson nihilite to is Neysia Morningbloom, not Glirina Morningbloom, Glirina is for the newbie questing part if it.

I would like to point out the lvl restrict for this quest, i was disappointed to find out i wasted my time at lvl 15, i hope it's just auto-complete at 45.

The two tradeskill quests listed below follow the same format as the other tradeskill quests (there are two for smithing, and baking, tailoring, etc). There will be one quest that is described as a "newbie quest". Its free and without farming but requires about 400 combines (about 60 mins of time). The other quest is also free but requires farming. Both of them take you skill 54, and give you the ability to refine the GoD jewelcraft materials. The quests for the other tradeskills are similar (the cooking one lets you work with the Talosian wheat, etc).

Oddly enough, Many people in game choose to do the quests even when the yeild is minimal just to have made the accomplishment. Pally epic is a great example. I already had a planer weapon that surpassed the epic but I chose to do the quest because it was there..lol
Another prime example of this are the high level spells...for those that study the mana cost versus the effect, they know that many of the 64-65 cleric spells are not as effective as the ones in the earliest 60s..

Ok, just a quick question.
If you hand the materials to the tradeskill merchant, don't they do the combine for you?
If that is the case, what is the point in getting the ability to do the combine yourself? Do you get more results when you are successful? If not, what's the point in doing the combine yourself since failures will inevitably happen (assuming this isn't a no-fail combine once you learn it)?

Once you've acquired the ability to refine the raw materials yourself, the yield per combine increases (slowly) as you perform the combine yourself. Handing the raw materials to the merchant nets you 2 of the refined material, while combining for yourself will yield 1 per combine at the beginning, increasing to a maximum of 3 per combine after you've performed the combine a few hundred times.

Actually, the # returned may be skill based, as I refined some pale raw nihilite into two pieces of pale nihilite on my first combine of it.
Also, doing this quest is rather wasteful, there is another quest that will give you the ability to refine the nihilite, all you have to do is like 400 combines (assuming you perform everyone successfully) and you don't have to give up any of your nihilite, which is still rather rare :)

Sorry, I was somewhat unclear earlier. The yield varies from an average of 1 per combine up to an average of 3 per combine as your experience at it increases.
There was also a bug during the last couple of weeks where you were getting an extra item yielded by mistake. This bug has been or will shortly be fixed.
