You say, 'Hail, De`van Szostek'

De`van Szostek focuses his attention on ______.

De`van Szostek says 'Well, hello there. Have you come to listen to my tale of sorrow? Please say [yes].'

You say, 'Yes.'

De`van Szostek says 'Find a place to sit, for what I am about to tell you is a tale of fourteen great adventurers who met the full force of the Muramites head on . . . [continue].'

You say, 'Continue.'

De`van Szostek says 'When the brotherhood first arrived here, we sent out scouts to gather information about the area. Those scouts were some of our best and they were executing their task flawlessly until one day the information stopped. All of the brotherhood began to worry. We sent a young scout named Falcin to investigate. Soon after his departure, he returned in bad condition. Falcin died shortly afterward, but not before he detailed the gruesome practices of the Muramite army. This upset many, including a group of fourteen legendary adventurers who had arrived shortly after we hit land . . . [continue].'

You say, 'Continue.'

De`van Szostek says 'Feeling that things were getting out of hand, these fourteen came to me and asked that I help them by telling them everything we had found out about the continent thus far. Seeing the light of determination in their eyes, I decided to reveal confidential information to them. I figured they would just leave things to us once they knew how serious the situation was, but knowledge of how dire things could become just fueled the spirit of honor within all of them. I told them that it would be brought under control by the brotherhood, but they refused to listen. They decided that the only solution was to destroy the leader of this invading force . . . [continue].'

You say, 'Continue.'

De`van Szostek says 'That morning, those of them who chose to save us said goodbye to their friends and family, and the rest -- all good friends of mine -- asked me to honor them. They wanted me to say that I believed they would accomplish what it was they set out to do. I told them I would have a mug of ale waiting for all of them upon their triumphant return, but while I said this aloud, deep inside I knew that this would not turn out well . . . [continue].'

You say, 'Continue.'

De`van Szostek says 'The next morning I gathered all of them together and cast a spell on their leader that would allow me to communicate with him through his mind and see what he saw. So, off they went, leaving behind six of our residents -- Sophia, Verna, Irena, Jenna, Gizzmu, and Aprilia -- to wait for their return. Days passed and nights of unrest became worse and worse as visions of their battles popped into my mind. I saw them fighting through Qinimi and stalking through the sewers. I witnessed their arrival in Yxtta where they begin to have problems making it through. I saw one of them almost fall before the rest rushed to his aid and saved him. Even through all of this, they never once considered turning back . . . [continue].'

You say, 'Continue.'

De`van Szostek says 'A short time went by and my mind was oddly silent. I spent those moments trying to comfort the others as they began to ask me questions. Fearing I would reveal my worry, I reassured them that everything was fine and that our heroes would return shortly. There was more silence and my hopes began to wane. Then, I had another vision. They were still alive and were fighting in an area with a huge crater at its center. This, I surmised, was where some kind of explosion occurred that had caused all of the destruction I'd seen. Our friends fought on through this until they finally went as far as they could go . . . [continue].'

You say, 'Continue.'

De`van Szostek says 'They had finally made it to the entrance of Tacvi, the broken temple of the enslaved trusik. It was inside this temple that the trusik worshipped a false god named Trushar. It was here that the army's leader could be found, this ominous being we knew only as the Zun'Muram. It was here that I would receive my last vision and the link to my friends would disappear. The last thing I saw was all of them bruised and beaten, yet still determined to stop this threat to Norrath. Before entering the lair of the fearsome beast, they all embraced each other. That is where the visions stopped and the [mystery] began.'

You say, 'What mystery?'

De`van Szostek says 'Well, you see. this happened some time ago and as each day passes, me and the others sink deeper into depression. With our hope quickly dying, all we can do now is pray for some sort of closure. While I do not want to fully admit it, I believe our heroes all met their demise and now I just want them to be honored in death. I have taken enough of your time and I appreciate that you listened to me. Telling the story helps me feel better, but now I must go back to wondering what has happened [unless] . . .'

You say, 'Unless what?'

De`van Szostek sends this as a private message:

De`van Szostek says 'You seem quite interested in what I have said here and while I could be wrong, when I look at you I see a glimpse of the same honor-filled spirit I saw in them. I know it may be too much to ask, but we have all been suffering for a long time and . . . well, if you ever find yourself inside Tacvi, and you come across the remains of an adventurer, bring back what you find. For me, I would like to have the writings of Xenaida, Wijdan, Rytan, Kaikachi, Vahlara, Frizznik, Zajeer, and Valtron. As for the rest of them, I would ask that you return the memories to the six they left here on the boat. While this task is not an easy one, I shall handsomely reward anyone who returns all of these things to the proper people.'

Handing De`van Szostek any of the writings by the mentioned people nets you this:

De`van Szostek says 'This tome will serve as a remnant of a great warrior who died protecting our realm from the menace of the Muramites. I thank you, ______, and ask that you bring more if you find them.'

Sophia Florence is a dwarf located at -126.28, 236.84, 115.19, in the building with the baking and brewing merchants.

You say, 'Hail, Sophia Florence'

Sophia Florence focuses her attention on ______.

Sophia Florence wipes away a tear as she turns to face you. Hello ______, sorry if I seem somewhat antisocial but it has been many days since I last saw my father Lyndro and as each hour passes the possibility that he may never return becomes more apparent. While I have not given up hope it gets harder each day not to. If he is never to return to me I wish that I had something to remember him by, something that let me know he died just as brave a man as he has always been.

Give her Lyndro's Writings.

Sophia Florence takes the dusty tome from ______'s hands.

Sophia Florence's eyes open wide as she takes the journal and runs her hands over the front cover. Opening the book to the last page tears begin to roll down her cheeks and land on the parchment. Finishing the last line Sophia looks up to you and says, 'I don't know what to say but thank you. De'van mentioned that he had told someone of my worries and now here you are with the final writings of my father. You are truly a blessing sent by the Gods and I thank you once again, but I must ask that you do the same for the others who are worried about the loved ones that traveled with my father. If you have already helped everyone please tell De'van that your task is complete and he will reward you.'

Verna Abella is a barbarian located at -127.06, 227.74, 115.19, next to Sophia.

You say, 'Hail, Verna Abella'

Verna Abella focuses her attention on ______.

Verna Abella seems to be deep in thought. She ignores you at first but eventually turns towards you with a somber look on her face. 'Forgive me. I am not much of a talker these days since Silius left on his journey with Lyndro and the others. Sitting here everyday wishing that they would return has consumed me to the point that I can do nothing else. If only I had some proof of what has happened to Silius. Anything at all would help me in this time of wonder and worry.'

Give her Silius' Writings.

Verna Abella takes the dusty tome from ______'s hands.

Verna Abella takes the book from your hands instantly recognizing it. 'Does this mean he is . . .' She stops for a second choking back tears as the reality of Silius' passing hits her. 'I thank you for bringing this to me I shall cherish it always. Please help the others who have been suffering like me, bring them the closure you have given to me so that they can get on with their lives. Forgive me but I must be going there is much I must do. If you have already helped everyone please tell De'van that your task is complete and he will reward you.'

Aprilia Marrow is a human located at -115.71, 226.99, 131.19, upstairs in the same building from Sophia and Verna.

You say, 'Hail, Aprilia Marrow'

Aprilia Marrow focuses her attention on ______.

Aprilia Marrow groans softly as she turns to face you. 'Please leave me be. My darling Prathun has yet to return to me and each day weakens my resolve. I know in my heart he is out there somewhere, but with no word since the day he left, I fear that my heart may be wrong. If only I had something that would let me know what has happened to him.'

Give her Prathun's Writings.

Aprilia Marrow takes the dusty tome from ______'s hands.

Aprilia Marrow says 'I thought I would never have to face this reality, but here it is -- the proof I asked for. While these pages detail the adventures of my love, it is you who are the great one. While I shall forever be pained by this, I am in your debt for helping me. Please leave me now and find those others who suffer the continued disappearance of their loved ones. If you have already helped everyone, please tell De'van that your task is complete and he will reward you.'

Jenna Gurell is a gnome located at -170.21, 250.03, 115.19, in the same building and on the same level as Sophia and Verna.

You say, 'Hail, Jenna Gurell'

Jenna Gurell focuses her attention on ______.

Jenna Gurell says 'Please do not disturb me. I am mourning the loss of my dear Rashere. While I do not know if his fate has yet been sealed the empty feeling in my heart tells me so. If only I could see him once more, if only I could read his words again.'

Give her Rashere's Writings.

Jenna Gurell takes the dusty tome from ______'s hands.

Jenna Gurell opens the book and begins to read from the last page aloud. As she reaches the final sentence her voice begins to crack and tears stream down her face. Wiping the tears from her face Jenna looks up at you and says `Thank you but I really must be going. If you have done this wonderful thing for the others who have been suffering with me then return to De`van and tell him your task is complete and he will reward you.' Unable to continue she turns away from you motioning for you to leave.

Gizzmu the Wise is an erudite located at -250.35, 100.07, 117.49, one level down from the Grozmok Stone, to the right (with the magus behind you).

You say, 'Hail, Gizzmu the Wise'

Gizzmu the Wise focuses her attention on ______.

Gizzmu the Wise says 'Forgive me but sometimes I get so distracted when I stare out at the water here. I hate this feeling of worry that has overcome me. Here I am waiting for my son's return and yet something keeps telling me my wait is for naught. He is not coming back that is all I can think, but something keeps me hoping. I am sure you have heard our story, there are several others on this ship who have been awaiting the return of the 14 adventurers who set out to stop the Force Commander, one of them was my son Maddoc. While I am close to giving up, I would at least like to have something of his to remember him by. Something I can keep with me so I know somehow he is still looking out for me.'

Give her Maddoc's Writings.

Gizzmu the Wise takes the dusty tome from ______'s hands.

Gizzmu the Wise takes the bound volume from your hands and weeps. As she flips from page to page the crying becomes more intense until finally she closes the book unable to continue. 'Something told me you would bring an end to my worry. While this is not the happy return I had wished for it will help me move on. May your adventures be plentiful and your spirit forever blessed. If you have already helped everyone, please tell De'van that your task is complete and he will reward you.'

Irena Pereira is a vah shir located at -310.61, -179.49, 99.19, down the left stairs from the Grozmok Stone (with the magus behind you), then down the stairs to the left of Malandra.

You say, 'Hail, Irena Pereira'

Irena Pereira focuses her attention on ______.

Irena Pereira says 'You must be the one De'van spoke to. I'm not looking for any of your help. I know that the mighty Absor will return someday and until I am proven wrong I will continue to wait for him to arrive.'

Give her Absor's Writings.

Irena Pereira takes the dusty tome from ______'s hands.

Irena Pereira stops to look at the tome refusing to believe it is what it seems. As she leafs through each page she starts to get choked up. Slamming the book closed defying her want to shed tears she looks up at you and kneels. 'I thank thee mighty adventurer for helping place the spirit of Absor to rest. If you have already helped everyone please tell De'van that your task is complete and he will reward you.'

You say, 'Hail, De`van Szostek'

De`van Szostek says 'There is nothing more I can tell you. If you accomplish what I ask, then I will reward you. Until then, there is nothing left to say.'

You say, 'My task is complete.'

De`van Szostek says 'I thank you, ______, and as I promised, here is a reward for your efforts. Guard this with your life, for while it may not seem like much, I believe its potential will increase when we discover more about these beings and the realm they came from.'

You receive a Tome of New Beginnings (as of 13 Sep 2004, this is still not usable by berserkers).

this is repeatable however you do not have to turn in the last 8 to the NPC's scattered around AS, just give De`van Szostek his 6 and say to him My task is complete. make sure you destroy your old tome "or if you are on FV server put it in the shared bank/on an alt" to get a new one and chieve, though if you have the one you'll get the chieve, just not the check marks for turning in? IDK, and IDC TBH. just sayin how to do turn ins if you have already completed this task...

seems that if you goof and hand in one of the wrong tomes to De'van then you won't get credit for handing it to the select person but when you finish handing in the others to De'van then you will get credit for completion. Your /ach will still show complete but will be missing a checkmark by the one you goofed on.

For the achievement, give De`van his 8 books first, then the other 6 people their books, then go back to De`van and say "my task is complete". You will get all your checkmarks on your achievement.

Because if you hand in the other 6 books first and do De`van's books last, it causes a bug where you will get the achievement before all the achievement boxes are checked and you will end up missing a checkmark. Doesn't affect the achievement but can be annoying to be missing that one checkmark.

Yes. Use the journal to review what De`van Szostek has told you.

Use: Options / Journal / Search / type in "De`van Szostek" and Okay / use the "De`van" button that appeared in place of Search button

You should now see everything De`van Szostek has said to you and from this be able to determine what you need to do to finish the quest.

Done in alphbetic order.
Didnt have Absor's Writings at this time, so just coppied/paste from alla's link for completeness.
--------------------------------------------------
(Absor's Writings)
Text reads:

Tis a troubling time.

It was a hard battle, but we finally destroyed that hoofed beast. Unfortunately, I could not dodge all of her spears.

I lay here wondering if the rest will make it through.

We lost Zajeer at the entrance to the magical wards, if only he had listened to the warning of Sesnil, instead his unwavering paladin ways got him killed.

To you who may find this last writing, take heed of the warnings. Take heed.

Absor
--------------------------------------------------
(Frizznik's Writings)
Text reads:
No one listens. Never, never. Sure, my greatness will pass from this life to the next, but the point is -- no one listens.

I never wanted to come here in the first place and if I last long enough to chortle the person who had this great idea, I shall.

Why did I follow blindly? For the promise of fortune?

Maybe. For the promise of greatness? Pehaps that too. But, I said to stop. I told them to turn back.

And what did I get? Bruises and bleeding wounds.

Frizznik
--------------------------------------------------
(Kaikachi's Writings)
Text reads:
We are weak, tired, and nearly ready to give up.

But we must continue on for fear that the scourge of the Muramites may be the end of us all.

As we head ever deeper towards evil, I wonder if I shall ever see the light of day again.

I leave this as a testament to the dedication we all have to our common goal. Let not our deaths be wasted.

Kaikachi
--------------------------------------------------
(Lyndro's Writings)
Text reads:
And so here we rest, after fighting long and hard to make it here.

We're ready to face this last challenge. We have lost many to this adventure -- Valtron, Fizznik,
Rashere, Prathun, and others.

It is tragic, but it they all died honorably many to save the life of another.

I will do all I can to defend the lives of my friends and family. We march on with our heads held high.

Lyndro the Devious
--------------------------------------------------
(Maddoc's Writings)
Text reads:
As I look into the eyes of my friends, I can see their worry.

And with reason.

The battle here was like none we have ever experienced. These creatures know no mercy and now after many losses to our party we stand at this final fight.

I refuse to let doubt and worry cloud my judgment. The sacrifices that were made so we could make it
this far shall not be in vain, the threat of the Muramites will stop here with the death of this force's commander.

Maddoc the Noble
--------------------------------------------------
(Prathun's Writings)
Text reads:
I fear I may not last.

The trials that Norrath has seen have been great and the worst is yet to come, I fear.

The strength and courage of our world will be tested, but in the end I have no doubt that we will overcome this threat.

I leave this world with no regrets except that I will never set eyes upon my beloved again. Her image still burns in my memory.
Aprilla, my love, if you ever see these words, know that I will keep my promise. I will protect you forever no matter what danger threatens our realm.

Prathun the Trickster
--------------------------------------------------
(Rashere's Writings)
Text reads:
I must write as my life begins to
leave me.

We fought hard to get here and though I could see the pain in their eyes, I demanded that the others leave me to my fate and continue on.

My friends, should you find this, I thank you for all of your strength and bravery.
I Regret that I will not see the face of my dear Jen again, but I feel that somehow these words will reach her.

Jen take comfort in the fact that your smile was in my thoughts as I fell into my eternal slumber, destined to dream of you forever.

Rashere the Extraordinaire
--------------------------------------------------
(Rytan's Writings)
Text reads:
The pages are too damged to

make out any of the text within.
--------------------------------------------------
(Silius' Writings)
Text reads:
As I sit here outside the door to the chamber of this final fight, my thoughts drift back home.

Deep in my heart I have accepted that this will be my last journey and as I sit here with Lyndro and Maddoc I have to hold back a tear when I consider all who were lost.

I ask that you somehow get these words back to my beloved Verna so that she will know I was thinking of her as I faced death.

Silius Arcane
--------------------------------------------------
(Vahlara's Writings)
Text reads:
Our tale did not start with so much sorrow. The good cheer as we banded together with our ale and stew on the Queen of Throns. Our dreams and promises of victory. Our hopes.

Until now, we were true to our claims. We triumphed. But now our numbers are falling away and our way looks grim.

I can feel the light of my own eyes fading like an ended wick.

I have hoped for so long to make my way down the mountain and cheer for our victorous crew -- one to never be forgotten and one to be heralded.

I hope one of this great party survives to return with good tidings to our friends and family, but our numbers are too thin I fear...and so is my blood...

Vahlara
--------------------------------------------------
(Valtron's Writings)
Text reads:
The pages are too damaged to

make out any of the text within.
--------------------------------------------------
(Wijdan's Writings)
Text reads:
The pages are too damaged to

make out any of the text within.
--------------------------------------------------
(Xenaida's Writings)
Text reads:
If I knew then what I now know, I am not certain that I would have set off so freely from Neriak.

The things I have seen in this travesty of a place lead me to believe that there are many realms that we have yet to discover, and I regret very much my inability to be there when such things are encountered.

I only hope that thouse who come after us are brave, and that we have left you with the knowledge to succeed.
If I may, I shall leave you with one request, to bear in memory Lord Kanos as I have all this time.

Should somehow my rapier have survived this, ensure that it finds its way back to thouse who gave me the courage to begin this journey so long ago.

At the dawn of night, my dear Aeglos and Callisidrin shall lay it rest.

Have courage!

you need to look at it like this:

starting as a new character you now meet the 14 in gloomingdeep. as you go about your life and level up you eventually grow up to be a big bad hardcore raider in tacvi. you then notice the people you helped back in the gloomingdeep days had come to tacvi before you and met their end.

Got no map atm, but Maddoc's Remains are at the feet of the first Tunat'Muram version, the remains of Silius and Lyndroh at the fight spot of the 2nd Tunat'Muram.
The other eleven corpses are scattered around Tacvi, one in each connecting corridor with a Mastruq.

You say, 'continue'
You say, 'what mystery'
De`van Szostek says 'Well, you see. this happened some time ago and as each day passes, me and the others sink deeper into depression. With our hope quickly dying, all we can do now is pray for some sort of closure. While I do not want to fully admit it, I believe our heroes all met their demise and now I just want them to be honored in death. I have taken enough of your time and I appreciate that you listened to me. Telling the story helps me feel better, but now I must go back to wondering what has happened [unless] . . .'
You say, 'unless what'
De`van Szostek says 'You seem quite interested in what I have said here and while I could be wrong, when I look at you I see a glimpse of the same honor-filled spirit I saw in them. As for the rest of them, I would ask that you return their memories to the six they left here on the boat. While this task is not an easy one, I shall handsomely reward anyone who returns all of these things to the proper people.'
De`van Szostek says 'This tome will serve as a remnant of a great warrior who died protecting our realm from the menace of the Muramites. I thank you, Name, and ask that you bring more if you find them.'

You say, 'Hail, Sophia Florence'
Sophia Florence focuses her attention on Name.
Sophia Florence wipes away a tear as she turns to face you. Hello Name, sorry if I seem somewhat antisocial but it has been many days since I last saw my father Lyndro and as each hour passes the possibility that he may never return becomes more apparent. While I have not given up hope it gets harder each day not to. If he is never to return to me I wish that I had something to remember him by, something that let me know he died just as brave a man as he has always been.
Sophia Florence takes the dusty tome from Name's hands.
Sophia Florence eyes open wide as she takes the journal and runs her hands over the front cover. If you have already helped everyone please tell De'van that your task is complete and he will reward you.
You say, 'Hail, Verna Abella'
Verna Abella focuses her attention on Name.
Verna Abella takes the dusty tome from Name's hands.
You say, 'Hail, Aprilia Marrow'
Aprilia Marrow focuses her attention on Name.
Aprilia Marrow groans softly as she turns to face you. 'Please leave me be. My darling Prathun has yet to return to me and each day weakens my resolve. I know in my heart he is out there somewhere, but with no word since the day he left, I fear that my heart may be wrong. If only I had something that would let me know what has happened to him.
Aprilia Marrow takes the dusty tome from Name's hands.
You say, 'Hail, Jenna Gurell'
Jenna Gurell focuses her attention on Name.
Jenna Gurell says 'Please do not disturb me. I am mourning the loss of my dear Rashere. While I do not know if his fate has yet been sealed the empty feeling in my heart tells me so. If only I could see him once more, if only I could read his words again.'
Jenna Gurell takes the dusty tome from Name's hands.
Jenna Gurell opens the book and begins to read from the last page aloud. As she reaches the final sentence her voice begins to crack and tears stream down her face. Wiping the tears from her face Jenna looks up at you and says `Thank you but I really must be going. If you have done this wonderful thing for the others who have been suffering with me then return to De`van and tell him your task is complete and he will reward you.¿ Unable to continue she turns away from you motioning for you to leave.
You say, 'Hail, Gizzmu the Wise'
Gizzmu the Wise focuses her attention on Name.
Gizzmu the Wise takes the dusty tome from Name's hands.
If you have already helped everyone, please tell De'van that your task is complete and he will reward you.
You say, 'Hail, Irena Pereira'
Irena Pereira focuses her attention on Name.
Irena Pereira says 'You must be the one De'van spoke to. I'm not looking for any of your help. I know that the mighty Absor will return someday and until I am proven wrong I will continue to wait for him to arrive.'
Irena Pereira takes the dusty tome from Name's hands.
Irena Pereira stops to look at the tome refusing to believe it is what it seems. As she leafs through each page she starts to get choked up. Slamming the book closed defying her want to shed tears she looks up at you and kneels. I thank thee mighty adventurer for helping place the spirit of Absor to rest. If you have already helped everyone please tell De'van that your task is complete and he will reward you.
You say, 'Hail, De`van Szostek'
De`van Szostek says 'There is nothing more I can tell you. If you accomplish what I ask, then I will reward you. Until then, there is nothing left to say.'
You say, 'my task is complete'
De`van Szostek says 'I thank you, Name, and as I promised, here is a reward for your efforts. Guard this with your life, for while it may not seem like much, I believe its potential will increase when we discover more about these beings and the realm they came from.'
Tome of New Beginnings?

That's a pretty crappy reward for all the hard work this quest is. Just do the Lodestar quest, more AC and like 10 less HP. I hope that is just one of many rewards or one you can exchange for something different.

I think the reward was worth it. While I could get the Chimera stick from Anguish or something, I decided to go with this for now as it is very easy to get, assuming your guild can take down Tacvi, and it was cheap. We don't stop and waste time doing DKP on the books before Tunat's room, because that would take a billion years, so we just FFA those, and the final three books from Tunat's room are done with DKP. I got them for a single point and had this item about 20 minutes later :-P

It is worth it for a hybrid like myself because it balances out very nicely, not slacking too much on HP, and not TOO bad on AC. As a Pally I don't use arrows for pulling, not really, so I don't lose much bagging my bow for this, but to each their own. This item is very good, better than Loadstar for the most part for some classes, although LS is great for warriors, still. LS will just be replaced by the Screaming Skull of Discontent or the Totem of the Chimera anyway, but this item is no slouch considering the ease of getting it.

Basically, think of it like this: spending the time being a ninja on the FFA books (I hope you go FFA on the ones scattered about Tacvi hehe) and then paying a lower price for the final books to get the item versus the item just dropping from Tunat; if that item dropped, and no time had to be spent on the quest, it would go for a LOT more points.

Grats to those that are capable of getting it, and to those that aren't, don't be a hate'a! lol, just kidding, but seriously, it's a nifty item :)

I would /destroy Lodestar in a heartbeat for this. Much better effects for a caster. High-end game, its all about the foci and effects for most classes.

Pretty much beat a mob in Tacvi, and in the next hallway is their remainds, /open and then loot it, you can get the ones after the Zun`Muram's without doing anything special, but the other ones have mobs waiting for ya, so bring a raid or go defensive...

And if you consider the stats crap (which you are insane if you think they are crap) then how about the added bonus:

Additional Modifiers:
- Attack: +50
- Damage Shield: +15
- Dodge: +8%

If you think those suck, then let me see your badd *** Magelo, hehehe

Yes, I saw that too. Hopefully said player will submit the closing dialogues of the quest and additional faction hits, quest rewards, etc., as we'd prefer not to guess about such things.

#REDACTED, Posted: May 16 2004 at 4:55 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I forget the names of the stupid discord server winners but maybe this is the quest where you get the items that are named after them. By the way anyone else remember the discord server and how it was gonna go on with this thing once every month. Heh all I can say is good riddence, it was the epitomy of idiocy in which the game was ruled by groups of friends that played often and at the same time and lvl 6-15 mages who ganged up on people who had just turned level 6 and used earth pets so they could not do a thing. I hope each and every person who liked that server is just a little bit closer to death now that it's gone...

All EQ developers?

Apparently, all the people in this quest are based on current or former developers. Here's what I know for sure.

Rytan is Ryan Barker, the current guru on spells and one of the lead programmers for EQ.
Frizznik is Paul Carrico, who at one point served as head tradeskills person but has now moved on to other tasks. He was also a GM of Lanys at one point.
Valtron is Oliver J. Smith. At one point he was a server GM for Veeshan, and now he works in community relations. He was the prime player contact (and MC) for the Fan Faire.
Vahlara is Holly Longdale, the self-described "Lore Lady" for EQ. She's the one who writes the stories that detail the exploits of Morden Rasp and friends, and she's involved in the overall lore and storyline of EQ.
Maddoc is Jason Mash, current head of tradeskills and general developer for EQ.
Absor is Alan VanCouvering, formerly the Community Relations person and now a developer for EQ.
Xenaida is Carly Towle, one of the game designers who worked on GoD.

The following people I'm not sure about. Here's the information I was able to dig up about each.

Wijdan was a GM on Veeshan c. 2001. No info on what they're doing now.
Kaikachi was a GM on Rallos Zek c. 2001. No info on what they're doing now.
Zajeer is currently a "Game Designer for EverQuest" according to their info on the EQLive boards.
Lyndro was a GM-Admin on Rallos from 2001-2002. No info on what they're doing now.
Silius is a former server GM for Xev who also designed some GoD zones (Uqua being one). He now works at Sigil Online Entertainment.
Prathun was on the EQLive Development Team at least as early as 2003 (he worked on the revised PoHate). He's apparently working on GoD tuning now.

I couldn't find much on a Rashere related to EQ; all the links I found pointed to a developer for another game (Lost Continents?).
