Axe Me No Questions

Keras McArik is located at -110, -3400, +235 in the Lake of Ill Omen.

You say, 'Hail, Keras McArik'

Keras McArik says 'Aye, I see a familiar look in yer eye. Ye are much like me, friend. If ye truly wish to [master the fires] within ye and become a true berserker, ye must learn many lessons.'

You say, 'I wish to master the fires.'

Keras McArik says 'Much as ye are now, I was once saddled with unbridled rage, and now with age and experience, I have learned to master the power that comes with my anger. Once ye have mastered yer abilities, ye will be rewarded with a gift that only a true berserker can control. It is a gift that will harness yer rage and use it to yer advantage. This is why ye must walk the same path I did in me youth. Do ye wish to take this [great stride]?'

You say, 'I wish to take this great stride.'

Keras McArik says 'Ye do understand there is no turning back? I hope so. This is a journey -- and sometimes a long one -- depending on what ye've leared so far. Yer skills and wisdom in battle will be tested. Go talk to an old, fallen friend of mine, Lingering Axefall. We call him that because he reguses to let his spirit rest. He failed his task and remains bound here to lead others into the trial he lost. Be wary, though. He is elusive. The foe he stood against and lost to still wishes to extinguish his spirit. Take this axe and give it to him so he will know that ye are ready for the test and that I sent ye. Also, take this medal with you. It will help me keep track of your progress. Best of luck, friend.'

You receive Throwing Axe of the Spirit and Medal of Blood.

Trial of Blood

Lingering Axefall may be found at +65, +2490, +210. He does not respond to hails. Give him the Throwing Axe of the Spirit.

Lingering Axefall says 'Ah, yes. The signature axe of my good friend, McArik. Here to test your control, hm? I hope you have better luck than I did. As you can see, I didn't fare so well against the enemy I was sent to [defeat]. Here, take these. I fashioned them for you from McArik's throwing axe. You will need them.'

You receive 3 TEMPORARY Bore Axes of the Spirit.

You say, 'What were you sent to defeat?'

Lingering Axefall turns and begins to shiver. 'Argh, it has sensed my presence. It is near! You must protect me and save me from this beast. If you do, you will pass this test. You must yourself take a tooth from its mouth as evidence to show to McArik that you've passed this trial.'

He begins to follow you around as though he were a pet. An Impervious Bloodbeast, a large chokidai-looking mob, spawns near +635, +2455, +260. Your best bet is to stay out of melee range and throw Bore Axes of the Spirit at it. When you've depleted your three axes, hail Lingering Axefall for three more. The Bloodbeast does not aggro or summon. Upon killing the beast:

You gain experience!!
Impervious Bloodbeast's corpse roars in pain as its fixed gaze on the spirit begins to dim.
Lingering Axefall says, 'You have indeed proven your worth, my friend. McArik will be very pleased. Now I can rest and set my spirit free. I am all too pleased to have played a part on your glorious path of becoming a true berserker.'

Loot a Bloodbeast Tooth from the corpse and head back to Keras McArik. Give him the tooth and the Medal of Blood.

Keras McArik says 'Aye, ye have done well, ______. However, that was a simple task and I'm sure ye had much help with it. Now ye must go alone. Ye may want to take some bandages with ye and be sure yer skill with them is top-notch. Ye'll likely need 'em. Here, take some o'mine. Ye may find 'em to be most useful. Do ye believe ye're [ready for this challenge]?'
You gain experience!!

You receive McArik-Crafted Bandage (3 charges of Greater Healing) and a new Medal of Mirages.

Trial of Mirages

You say, 'I am ready for this challenge.'

Keras McArik says 'The challange is for ye, and ye alone. If you have anyone try to assist ye, ye will fail. Do not attempt to cheat yerself of yer own development. Ye must seek out Mardic Crimsonsteel and get his guidance. He will prepare ye to fight a mirage of a berserker that has been created through years of refined magic. I cannot tell ye the source of such magic, but ye must know that I used that mirage as me sparring partner, constantly improving me skills against it and advancing. Perhaps now it's yer turn to face it... alone. Take this sealed note to Mardic. It will give him instructions for yer test.'

You receive A Sealed Note for Mardic. You can find Mardic in the Field of Bone at +2115, +3625, -145.

You say, 'Hail, Mardic Crimsonsteel'

Mardic Crimsonsteel says 'Hail to you, feared one. I see the glint of rage in them eyes of yours there. One day you'll be able to recognize the same in others. I suppose now is the time to talk to you about the mirage around here. Tell you the truth, I wasn't able to beat it myself... that's why I'm out here and not establishing myself as a berserker. I wasn't meant for that path. I'm here to guide folk like yourself and help you gain control of the insane beast that lurks inside you. You must be prepared to fight one like yourself. All ye need are your wits, brawn, and skill, nought else. When you are ready give me the note McArik gave you and I'll send you to the training grounds.'

Give him the note. You get teleported to a sealed room by yourself. You will have a vah shir female called "Berserker's Image" spawn. The image cons dark blue at 46. You have to fight it one-on-one. At certain health percentage intervals, the Image stops fighting to let you heal, bandage, etc.

You have slain Berserker's Image!
You gain experience!
Berserker's Image's corpse nods and grins at you as you release its essence and falls. As its hands rest on the ground, one unfurls, revealing an essence vial. A notion enters your mind. It says, 'Speak return and you shall be back.'

Loot Axe of Lost Souls from Berserker Image's corpse.

You say, 'Return.'

You are teleported back to Mardic Crimsonsteel.

You say, 'Hail, Mardic Crimsonsteel'

Mardic Crimsonsteel says 'Hail, ______. Run along and give McArik the items he requested.'

You receive Image Essence. Head back to Keras.

You say, 'Hail, Keras McArik'

Keras McArik says 'Don't just stand there! Ha! Give me the essence and medal if you have them!'

Give him the Image Essence and Medal of Mirages.

Keras McArik says 'Well, I am indeed hopeful and pleased about yer progress, ______. Ye should be proud that you have now attained the Medal of Strategy. Well done, indeed! It seems that ye can best yer equal now. The next test of yer masters of yer abilities is much more difficult, however, and may require ye to ask yer friends for some 'elp... but it must be the right kind of 'elp. This test will determine how well ye [strategize in battle]. Ye must gather trustworthy friends and they must be willing to work under yer command.'
You gain experience!!

You receive the Medal of Strategy.

Trial of Strategy

You say, 'I will strategize in battle.'

Keras McArik says 'One of the best strategists I've ever met is ready and willing to help any who attempt to prove their skills in battle. Seek out Treanik Ireblade. She won't give ye any advantage, however. This is yer fight to win, not hers, though she'll be itchin' to get her blade bloodied. Take this note and give it to her.'

You receive Note for Treanik. Treanik Ireblade is located in Dagnor's Cauldron at -1585, +210, +180. Hailing her doesn't do much, so give her the note.

Treanik Ireblade says 'Me hopes you can hold your breath, ______. Me make sure to stock up before makin' dat long swim. Pesky goblins all over. Treanik must tell dat dere is much more dan pests here to taunt da likes of us. Dere be a beast down dere dat me not killed yet. Me much younger dan you, but me learn how dat [beast fights] -- it smarter dan da average creature, you know. Don't be fooled.'
You gain experience!!

You say, 'How what beast fights?'

Treanik Ireblade says 'Da only way to learn is to fight. It called Praklion of the Cauldron or sometin. Me hear it live here very long time, but rarely come out. It feed at weird times. Course, dat when it most mad. McArik found it traveling through deep craggy lands. Dat is how he decided it was good beast to test his ability to beat a baddy dat had some [sense of strategy]. It even took him long time to defeat it.'

You say, 'What sense of strategy?'

Treanik Ireblade says 'It do have sense of stragegy. It a creature dat has got smartz wit da magic too. Da way it mixes its abilities is good stuffs. You gots to try to catch it when it eats. It usually comes out when it dark out. And when you kill it, can you get my axe back? Me lost it to dat beast. Plus me needs proof you killed it so me can give you sumtin to give to McArik.'

You must find and kill Praklion of the Cauldron (location -525, -1400). Loot Treanik's Tarnished Axe and give it to Treanik Ireblade.

Treanik Ireblade says 'My axe! Me so happy! You are big force to be rekoned with, ______. Me wasn't sure... but now, look at you, like spiroc fluffing feathers. McArik be so pleased! Take dis amulet me made. I know not much, but me swore to McArik that anyone who passes dis test would get a trinket from me.'
You gain experience!!

You receive A Bone Trinket. Go back to Keras.

You say, 'Hail, Keras McArik'

Keras McArik says 'Seems ye need to hand over some goods to me still. How about ye give me the Medal of Strategy and the trinket me friend gave ye?'

Give him the items.

Keras McArik says 'Ye are well on the way, me friend. I knew the moment I saw ye that ye were going to get through this. I'm just not convinced that yer as powerful as even ye may think. So, are ye [ready] for the next trial ye must face?'
You gain experience!!

You receive the Medal of Fervid Rage.

Trial of Fervid Rage

You say, 'I am ready.'

Keras McArik says 'Eager one, aren't ye? Good to see, but do not underestimate how volatile our rage is. In me youth, it snuck up on me and in a blind rage, I had slain me sparring partner. It was then that I knew I was different and shouldn't keep close friends until I'ad my rage under control. There are some, though, that will [never control the rage].'

You say, 'Never control the rage?'

Keras McArik says 'Well, you see, the fire that drives the rage through us and into our muscles and minds can burn out of control in come creatures. I have encountered several in my travels, aye. They are merciless and blind to the rage, which makes 'em poor at strategy, but deadly in combat. Ye will have to [face one] of 'em so that ye may learn how dangerous ye can truly become if ye do not complete these trials and master the rage. I do 'ope ye appreciate this lesson.'

You say, 'Face one?'

Keras McArik says 'This creature is unlike any you have seen wandering the lands. this beast is fearsome and ethereal. It strikes out with its rage without thought or care. Ye must learn to recognize this type of beast if ye are to learn how to master it and yer own abilities. It will try to disguise itself so ye don't recognize the fury it holds within it -- it has an [enraged essence] within it and I want ye to bring it to me. Remember, ______, do not be fooled and always be aware.'

You say, 'Enraged essence?'

Keras McArik says 'I will give ye no more hints. Ye must seek this creature out alone. Look far and use your mind and brawn to beat it. Yer noggin will give ye an advantage o'er this un.'

The creature he is referring to is Ireblind Imp, found in the Plane of Fear. Kill A Scareling (/cons scowling) until Enraged Imp (/cons indifferent) spawns. Kill Enraged Imp to spawn Ireblind Imp (/cons scowling, has near-zonewide aggro and nasty AE mez). Kill Ireblind Imp and loot Burning Essence of Rage. Head back to Keras and give him the Medal of Fervid Rage and Burning Essence of Rage.

Keras McArik says, 'I am indeed impressed by yer control and ability to best such a horrific beast, my friend. Ye are certainly well on yer way to mastering yer rage and taking advantage of the abilities ye were born with. Here is your Medal of Hunting. Ye are nearly there -- nearly complete with yer trials, but there are a few more things ye [must do] for me.'
You gain experience!!

Trial of Hunting

You say, 'What must I do?'

Keras McArik says, 'For my mirage to remain part of my trials, I need some very specific reagents. There is a sickly gorilla that carries a rotting organ which I am in need of. Also, I need a paw of a very special and dangerous kobold. Lastly, bring me the poison sac of a dangerous spider. A potion that allows us to create a gate from one place to another is also required. If ye believe ye can do this for me, tell me so, and I will give ye a bag to hold them in. When ye have all of the ingredients, combine them in the bag I've given ye, and bring it back to me. Good luck in your hunt!'

You receive McArik Reagent Satchel.

You say, 'Hail, Keras McArik'

Keras McArik says 'Hello again, ______. If you needed yer memory refreshed, I'll tell ye what I need for ye to move on with your trials. Ye need to gather a decaying liver from a sickly gorilla, the paw of a fierce kobold, and a poison sac from a very rigid spider.'

The first item is Decaying Liver from Disease-Ridden Gorilla in Emerald Jungle. The placeholder is "a tottering ape" that spawns at or near -1525, -90 and wanders from there (note there are several tottering ape spawns in the zone, but only one of them is the PH). It is immune to snare/root/slow and is pure melee.

The second item is Gnashing Kobold Paw from Gnashing Kobold in Stonebrunt Mountains. The placeholder is A Kobold. It appears to be a static spawn at location +1885, +2340. It is immune to snare/root/slow and is pure melee.

The third item is Scent Gland from Reeking Skunk in Toxxulia Forest (not a spider as indicated).

Combine the three items and a Philter of Major Translocation (shaman made) in the bag to craft Bag of Image Essence Dust. Hand this to Keras McArik along with your medal.

Keras McArik says, 'Wonderful. Ye have earned yer Medal of Mastery, but ye are not done yet. There is one final test ye must complete before I can recognize ye as a true berserker. Ye must prove that in the face of great adversity, ye can keep yer wits about ye. This final test, naturally, is the most difficult, but I would not present this [next challenge] to ye if I thought ye could not finish yer journey.'
You gain experience!!

Trial of Mastery

You say, 'What next challenge?'

Keras McArik says 'For this encounter, ye must be prepared for the unexpected and, in the face of chaos, be able to focus on the task at hand. Yer stamina will also be tested. When I first encountered this wicked trap in me travels, even I had to attempt it a couple of times. However, I do have faith in ye. With my advance warning, ye shouldn't be caught off guard. This challenge will also prove how loyal and skilled yer own friends are. One thing is for certain, ye can't complete this [next test] alone.'

You say, 'What next test?'

Keras McArik says, 'Make your way to the woods in Kunark. Use the hunting skills ye have gained to find a most unusual and war-hungry creature. It has a very unique magic in its battle repertoire that will definitely test yer mettle. Off with ye, then. I do hope I see ye again...I've become quite fond of ye. I recently sent another like ye to do this trial and I haven't heard from him...'

The woods he speaks of are the Warsliks Woods. The berserker recently sent is the Lurking Hopeful, who is a female troll found at +175, +630 just north of where the river splits. She spawns at approximately 11 PM game time and despawns at 7 AM.

You say, 'Hail, Lurking Hopeful'

Lurking Hopeful says 'Ah, me also got one of dose medal tings. Me guess you here for da same reason me is -- to finish da final berserker trial. Me been waiting for someone to come by here. Me need to figure out how to do dis challenge. Me tried once and didn't have a chance. Me ran. Dat goblin is mad. Hey, if you give me 1000 platinum, me save you some time and show you where da crazy goblin is. Me hate to ask for money, but me needs to hire help for dis.'

Give her 1000 platinum pieces.

Lurking Hopeful says 'Good timing. Me can hear him giggling. Go down to da stream's end where it opens into a big river between da cliffs. Crazy goblin is usually in dat area stirring up troubles. Go tell him dat you are a berserker and be ready. He go nuts. Good lucks. Me go find help.'

She despawns. Go north along the river to where it widens into a gorge, and you will see a large goblin standing on the shore. He /cons blue and scowling to level 65, but will not attack.

Raving Goblinmaster shouts, 'Yes, I see you, you wander in the trees. If you cross me, I will bring you to your knees.'

You can hail him but he will not respond other than to turn toward you. This is the time when you should buff your groups and make sure you have some form of levitation on.

You say, 'I am a berserker and I am ready.'

Raving Goblinmaster says 'Why you come here is a mystery to me. If you are brave, chase me as I flee. Watch to the front and behind. To your right and left do not be blind!'

He begins running down the shore. Once he gets to approximately +1500, 0, he will stop and five of "a frantic goblin" will spawn. There are three waves of these goblins, and you have one minute per wave to kill them all. They are highly magic resistant, so bring melee help. Once the first wave is down, move further north along the shore until the next wave spawns: dispatch it. Once you have killed the first three waves, a wave of three larger goblins called "Ferocious Goblin" will spawn. You have one minute to kill all three. All of the goblins up until this point are green and can be assassinated by rogues or killed with headshot by rangers. Once this wave is down, move further along the shore and hug the left-hand wall until you come to the Raving Goblinmaster. When you ready, hail him and he will attack.

Raving Goblinmaster says 'Yes, indeed. This has been a surprise. You are better than most and more wise. However, you are not yet complete. Be prepared to try to knock me off my feet!'

Once he's dead, loot A Maniac's Garbled Tome and return to Keras. Give him the Medal of Mastery and the tome.

Keras McArik bows and holds your hand in his own. 'I am so impressed and proud of ye, ______. This had been a long journey, hasn't it? That said, this will be the most important adventure of yer life, for now you are a true berserker and a master of all of yer skills. As I promised, the completion of these trials would not only bring ye the honor of being recognized as a true berserker, but also a weapon only a true berserker can wield -- one that I fashioned myself. Use this weapon in yer travels and may it serve ye well in battle. Be well, ______ -- ______ the Berserker.'

Trial 1...

Just follow the locs and such and you’ll find the big beast with no problem.. All I did was bring a lot of axe components and put the Bore Axe in my range slot and my summoned axes in ammo got close enough for proc. and kept throwing (proc might dispel his dmg shield. /shrug didn't try) Great for getting your skill up a lil if it isn't maxed.. Had a necro friend do some dmg so it wouldn’t take for ever but I go the kill..

Trial 2...

Watch for pause in combat so you can start using them bandages quickly.. I only had temp on me when i went at lvl 49. wasn't that bad left with 20% hp left :) and missed one healing opportunity. With a few buffs and a decent weapon you should do fine. The image hit me for 156ish and hits prety fast, also she can frenzy.

Trial 5...
Well this has 3 parts of significance so, first off they all hit for 136 and all can be taken down by a single lvl 55ish caster or a couple lvl 55ishes.. Single 60+ easy.. They cannot be snared, rooted, or slowed

1) Disease-Ridden Gorilla.. Ph "a tottering ape" spawn point -1525, -90 in Emerald Jungle, wonder so, basically get a tracker or look around the big stairs for ph and or named kill if named woohoo your the luckiest zerker ever and if ph run to the spawn point and camp it.. I've heard this is a ruff one, I got luck and killed ph ran to spawn point and just as I located it the Disease-ridden gorilla popped on me :) killed got my liver and left happily

2) Gnashing Kobold (brown).. Ph "a kobold" (white)spawns in Stonebrunt Mountains at 1865, 2335... static spawn so just camp it.. Camp it some more and that’s it.

3)Reeking Skunk, roams around the entrance to erudin some say ph is "a skunk" but he was up when I got there so maybe yah should just check back every now and then if he isn't up

That’s all I have personally done so far..

I'd suggest brining a tank that has very high cold resist and drinking for the cauldron a bard is handy for getting resists up as well as a mage, have fun with it, one good group of 60ish lvl should work well... For Ireblind Imp, well you can try the dot stuff but I'd say getting a strong force of 3 good groups should do you well if they avg. 60+… If sub 60 for the most part maybe 4 or 5 and pull his spawn mob away from the other mobs in fear as you will be teleported around a bit like shadowstep and can agro adds that will wipe yah prety easy, killing all mobs is a valid options... Last fight, melee DPS must be extremely high, kill and kill quickly and your done, I read that the little gobbies are very resistant to spells, insta kills seem to work ok :)

Best of luck I'll post again as I do more

couple of typo's that are buggin me..
Disease-Ridden Gorilla and his ph are Wanderers, not wonder, at least the ph is for sure..

and you would probably need a pet to solo tho they dont have horridly high hp, they do hit fast

nother note on ireblind I forgot to mention, he summons waves of gobbies on yah at certain %'s of his health, good idea to kill or otherwise controle the adds so the don't build up and bash all yah heads in

sorry about postin twice :)

The Epics came out in Kunark. They were made in order to make a long quest for the highest level characters. I feel that now, they are pretty much out of date. This Berzerker epic is much better. I believe that instead of a nerf to the Berzerker epic, an upgrade to the other epics, nor nothing should happen. I believe that there should be a "new" epic for every class. One that is harder and leads to an uber item. I believe that the berzerker should also get a lower lvl one in kunark. So 2 epics for everyone. Here is an example

The Deadly Sword of Rallos Zek
Magic,lore,ndrop
2hs
80dmg 45 delay
25 to str,sta,agi,dex. 20 to cha. 10 to int,wis
300hp 15 mana 30-allresist -100end
Effect: Rallos GlareSmiley: glare (clear all hate, increase hate-700)
effect:Aura of *whatever* (4hp+regen)
Class:War
Race:all

Killing all the zek brothers hardest step of the quest. Easiest is getting Sillicosive Greece.

and this for the easier berzerker quest.

Axe of the Menacing Doom
magic,lore,ndrop
2hs
40dmg 45delay
15+str,sta,agi,dex
10+all else
200+mana,hp,endurance
haste:25%
Effect: Berzerking MenaceSmiley: banghead (10sec stun)
class:Ber
Race:all

Hardest being getting a rare drop off of a mob spawned by killing Nagafen. Easiest being getting a diamond.

/sigh i dunno it just kinda ticks me off cause when bsts came out their epic was mde "in line" with the other kunark era weapons ...so much so that it is basically just a copy of the ranger epic ...but ohh well the class is pretty broken atm so i feel bad for em
Get over it.

I may be flammed for this but who cares. I must say instead of complaining about the game and how unfair things are, take a step back take a deep breath and make a berserker if you dont like it. Dang people. I came here looking for good info on this quest and all I see is people cryin about how they dont have this and cant get that. Its all part of the game. Why not just be happy for the people that now get something worthwhile, and shut up. I play a 62 war and never posted waaaaaaaa why cant I have this. Unless you have something usefull to post keep it to yerself.

Now on to my 2cp about the quest. This does seem to be a easy Epic for the gain. Grats Zerkers.

Epics are meant to test your class to the limit, and as a reward you are serposed to get an amazing weapon, as proof if you like. This was as it was in kunark. I remember the good old days in ECommons, looking at people with epics, as they were the best in game at that time. Now, with the release of the Berserker epic, this follows the same rules. It is one of the best in game for the Berserker. Considering this, ALL the other epic need a HUGE revamp, as for classes such as a paladin (me) our epic is pretty pointless to get, and the majority of paladins dont bother. I think they need to bring epic quests back into the game, afterall, all the upgrades on them are basically dropped, and the name of the game sugessts you are meant to quest alot. Because of this, they need to revamp epics. Both stats an Effects... all melee epics should have haste, and SK and Pallys should get a sword and shield combo as well, as the warriors get 2hs and duel wield.

Pallys and SKs are already good enough for tanking. both those classes are way better than wars at holding aggro because of their spells i think warriors should get an update on their epic that makes it so both 1hd weapons and the 2hd weapon should proc an aggro proc. warriors are no good for anything else because when they made the game warriors were only suposed to do one thing and that was tank.

i agree mark
i'm a Paladin, and i DO love being able to control agro. but... the WARRIOR only really has one claim to fame - MEATSHIELD
it SUX big time that they haven't allowed our warriors to maintain their status as THE tank in game. shame really. an entire class is being forgotten. just like the old world zones.
they need to stop inventing so much and start fixing what they have left behind.

I agree.

A Sword of Truth and Shield of Virtue combo for a paladin... now that would be cool.

And SKs could get a Sword of Evil and a Shield of Depravity!

Just my little tangent.

The epic has been completed on Anon'ro. If you want to see a picture of it the guild Fellowship of dragons has one posted right now in there galley @ www.fellowshipofdragons.com. There are like 5 or 6 floating around the server there and the people there can tell you how to finish it. It has a 40% haste and a 40 to attack and is a 46 38. Name of it is Keras axe of Ire btw.

Zerker Epic
# Mar 11 2004 at 11:12 AM Rating: Decent
I gotta agree that this "epic" is completely out of line with every other epic in the game. Seriously, I haven't seen a SK epic in over a year. Warrior epics are obsolete by level 30 nowadays. And the only caster epics I see floating around are the cleric click sticks, and an occasional chanter snake staff. Thank god I haven't seen one of those gawdawful necro "Duckstaff" things in a while. But stat wise this thing outclasses any melee epic going. If SOE is gonna spit out a weapon like this for zerkers, then they OWE every other class a new epic.

I agree, this game is going into the ******* thanks to the "twink" factor. But think of what is needed to combat twinking. Making all gear "NO DROP"? Introducing level limits and/or recommended levels for all gear? It's too late for EQ. Imagine how pissed you would be if, after a patch you logged into your bazaar mule only to find that the gear you were hoping to sell for a few hudred thousand plat is now no drop. Or logging into your uber-twink monk, only to find that all your stats have been scaled to your level and you no longer have 300 str, sta, dex, and agi at level 1 along with 5khp. Hell, half the population would up and quit if SOE found a way to nerf twinking.

But for SOE to break out a brand new class, give it a shiny new epic that makes most melee epics look like that rusty short sword we all started out with, and expect no backlash? They've only been hinting at V2 epics since Luclin. Maybe they should get off they're ***** and try squaring zerkers with that paradigm of risk vs reward they cram the rest of us into. Because for the same risk,if not lesser, that everyone else takes for an obsolete piece of Kunark crap, zerkers are getting gear that only the uberest of PoTime enabled guilds see the likes of.

I hate to say the only epic out there worth the risk is the Cleric's. I mean come on with the revamp of the hole and POF and all the epics there its just not worth the risk. And they do insane stuff like make several epics use the same mob on a 24 hour to 7 day spawn time causing a LARGE amount of compitition on crowded servers resulting in KSing yelling screaming and worse.
I have come to the conclusion that SOE 's EQ descisions are made by a brain damaged Poodle

I have to say that cleric is NOT the only epic that's worth it.

Cleric is probably by far the most useful in regards to a raid guild.

Monk is pretty much the best pair of gloves that a monk may recieve in his/her entire career. I have a 65 EP flagged monk with EP gloves. I still use my epic quite often.

Bard is a nice epic simply for the fact that all instruments are tied into one. That frees up space in the inventory, and doesn't require swapping all the time.

So in essence, yes, there are many epics that are totally worthless/pointless, but not ALL and certainly not just cleric epic.

dont forget the rogue epic. i play a 65 rogue and although my epic is banked due to a decent guild, i used mine right up until BoT towers. not because of its ratio, but 40 haste and attack in offhand is damn nice to have. plenty of rogues still use their epics in offhand. i just wish it could go in my range slot...

RE: Zerker Epic
# Mar 11 2004 at 7:00 PM Rating: Decent
I agree with you Damerr that other epics should be upgraded. As I said in my post below, that alone would combat the twink factor because people would be at least a bit more inclinde to quest these weaps rather than try to by sub-par or even equal weaps from the bazaar.

This epic is no joke in comparison to the best bazaar weapons, and the effect even makes it much better than even the best you can buy. Though PoTime isn't required to beat it stat wise (Greatstaff of Four Winds from BoT towers will beat it I believe) the added effect makes it a hard weapon to shy away from, or waste hard earned platinum on.

If all the epics were brought up to a similar level, you would see far fewer young players running around with the "uber" droppable weaps from bazaar. I feel it would really bring the game back to its roots a bit because you would have a lot more people doing the "epic" quests. It would revitalize the game to a certain degree. Of course it wouldn't fix all the flaws, but I think it would be a welcome change.

just have to point out that the necro epic dosent suck that bad, you get a 75 dam a tic snare w/ epic. while on the other hand you get a 70 dam a tic snare at level 63. But yes i do agree on the status of most epics, epics are from the 2ed expantion (or 3rd, lost count) and we're up to what now 6?

I also agree it is out of whack. I was drooling when I saw the stats on it and the first thing that popped in my head was "I WANT ONE!!!" I hope Sony adds a quest to each class so they can get their epics updated with either a uber effect or uber stats!!
If Berserker epic were made in true Kunarkian fashion...
# Mar 11 2004 at 5:00 AM Rating: Decent
The complaining has already started about the stats on the Berserker epic, but before you gripe, consider this...

If SOE had given the epic crap stats like all the others, do you think that many people would actually do the quest? Sure there would be an intitial burst of interest to complete the quest for the first time, but if that stats had been crap, why would anyone do it when they can go to the bazaar and buy weapons that are far superior to a true Kunark era weapon?

As it stands, we now have an epic that is equivalent to high-end, Luclin, no drop weapons with a really nice effect. I for one will be rushing to get my berserker to level 46 so I can start this quest since this weapon will be my primary until I get my guy PoP flagged where superior weapons drop.

I think SOE made the right call on this one. We have a new class that they want people to play, and they obviously want to limit the ability to twink. What better way to do it than make a questable weapon that is superior to bazaar weapons? Now anyone who is serious about playing their berserker will be scouring the zones of Kunark to quest this weapon.

Now, I also think that SOE should probably make some modifications to older epic weapons to make them a more viable choice for the other classes. This game has become less EverQuest and more EverTwink. It is hard for anyone to avoid the lure of twinking a character since equipment is so readily available at low prices (excepting the really "uber" no drop stuff). If they revamp the epic weapons for all classes they would, I think, put at least a little bit of the "quest" back in EverQuest. How refreshing would it be to see young characters running all over Norrath completing their epic quests again? Think of all the activity older zones would see as people set off on the long road toward their epic weapons. Sure, I'm romanticizing a bit, but that's what this game is all about. How gratifying is it to say you saved 5k pp and bought a weapon from the bazaar, when you can say you just completed an epic weapon quest?

So does it suck that this epic is better than any others? Yes. Did SOE make the right call by making it so good? Absolutely. Should they make the older weapons a more viable option for other classes? Probably.

#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 11 2004 at 10:00 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Yes, it sucks that SoE made an Epic not only better, but FAR better than the other Epics. Why should Berserkers get a better Epic? How is that fair to the other classes? It's fair that theres no point in doing most other Epics because you can get better in the Bazaar for much less effort where Berserkers actually have something worth questing for? I don't think so. Epics are Kunark-class weapons, not "high-end luclin no drop weapons". Should the rest of the Kunark-class equipment be better than everyone elses Kunark gear? Would that be fair, too?

# Mar 11 2004 at 12:58 PM Rating: Decent
If you would perhaps read my entire post you would have noticed that the fifth, and largest, paragraph is dedicated to my thoughts on why SOE should upgrade all other epics as well.

Though I did defend their decision to make the berserker epic so nice, I also made it clear that they should consider revamping the older epics to benefit the game on a larger scale.

Berserkers don't have any old sh*t.

People made the same complaints about the beastlord epic when it was first completed. So Sony nerfed it to being in line with the other epics. But at least at the time, Luclin was new, the weapon market wasn't SEVERELY out of whack. As the original poster commented, Sony needs to give people impetus to do the quest in the first place. If you want to argue that Sony should add an upgraded epic for the other classes, fine. But don't pull the beastlord epic down to be useless when it's made...those other epics were worthwhile at the time. Except the warrior's ofc.

Their Kunark armor better? Heck no, better not be. Weapons are the single most-important slots for a DPS melee class. Just give them this one bone.

i agree well i have seen high lvl casters especially drOOds using their epic, because weapon is not where most their money go... a berserker which is purely DPS is very keen on what to feed in weapons slot, if it was some old piece of junk no one would get it... i my self is berserker, i had used 2000 pp on my weapon(no im not twinked i have saved 2k pp from the bottom with my zerker) before i even swithced from my newb armor, so if it was just plain stinky who wpuld get it? all zerkers got is damage, they where welcome to remove 4 slots of their choise if they doubled my damage, just to point out how important weapon is to us.

Here is my write up if allkhazams wants it. My berserker is woofgar, on tarew marr.
Where the epic left off.. you run to warslike woods , goto the middle fo the zone where the fork is in the river, at location pos 160 pos 690, there is a Undead Berserker troll. ( she spawns only at night time it seems, shes undead )

You hand her 1k plat and then she despawns

Lurking Hopeful says 'Good timing. Me can hear him giggling. Go down to da stream's end where it opens into a big river between da cliffs. Crazy goblin is usually in dat area stirring up troubles. Go tell him dat you are a berserker and be ready. He go nuts. Good lucks. Me go find help.'

Raving Goblinmaster shouts, 'Yes, I see you, you wander in the trees. If you cross me, I will bring you to your knees.'

Now run north, folloing the river to where it opens up. There you will find a big goblin named :Raving Goblinmaster

He is Dark blue con to level 65, he scowls to attack, but will not agro. Also he is not able to be attacked.

Say to the Raving Goblinmaster, I am a Berserker

Raving Goblinmaster says 'Why you come here is a mystery to me. If you are brave, chase me as I flee. Watch to the front and behind. To your right and left do not be blind!'

He runs off, follow him.

First wave of 5 spawned on right hand side of water.

Raving Goblinmaster waves his hands in the air and his image shimmers. 'Oh my oh my, look what I have found. Some mad goblins to defend my ground.'

Second wave of 5 was on the left

Raving Goblinmaster waves his hands in the air again, his image shimmering and splitting for a moment. 'For me, this game is so much fun, especially knowing you are nowhere near done.'

Last wave of 5 was also on left.

Raving Goblinmaster waves his arms about frantically and beings to shudder, the air around him hazy with magic. 'You do much better than I first thought; perhaps I should turn things up a notch. I will watch from somewhere near, as my goblins are quite mad I fear. Should you beat my goblins, I shall be waiting, You may come unleash the anger you are restraining.'

After killing the last wave of goblins, continue following the river until you see 2 iksar statues, go past them, keep going north. Up on the left hand side will be the Raving Goblinmaster again. ( he will not attack, not can be attacked)
You say, 'Hail, Raving Goblinmaster'
Raving Goblinmaster says 'Yes, indeed. This has been a surprise. You are better than most and more wise. However, you are not yet complete. Be prepared to try to knock me off my feet!'

He attacks the berserker ( you ), kill him and loot
--You have looted a A Maniac's Garbled Tome.--
run back to lake of ill omen and turn in ( no need to hail) your medal of mastery, and A Maniac's Garbled Tome.-- to Keras McArik.

Keras McArik says 'Wonderful. Ye have earned yer Medal of Mastery, but ye are not done yet. There is one final test ye must complete before I can recognize ye as a true berserker. Ye must prove that in the face of great adversity, ye can keep yer wits about ye. This final test, naturally, is the most difficult, but I would not present this [challenge] to ye if I thought ye could not finish yer journey.'

Keras McArik bows and holds your hand in his own. 'I am so impressed and proud of ye, Woofgar. Be well, Woofgar -- Woofgar the Berserker.'
You gain experience!!
