You say, 'Hail, Marius Alyonn'

Marius Alyonn looks at ______ and begins to speak.

Marius Alyonn says 'Come to exchange your [helm] or you just like looking at gnomes?'

You say, 'What helm?'

Marius Alyonn says 'Yes that's what I said. I have been working with the dwarves to create a device that can alter the view of your headgear. This advanced gnomish technology, that's right gnomish technology, will remove the shroud that makes your helm invisible to the naked eye. It can also replace the shroud if you decide you don't like it being shown. Amazing isn't it? And it was all my design! The only drawback to this device, appropriately named the Helmet Eclipsing Liquidation Machine or H.E.L.M. for short, is that it is only compatible with certain [headgear].'

You say, 'What headgear?'

Marius Alyonn says 'Well, so far I have only been successful with the latest class quest helms but I am hoping to expand soon. For now though if you have any of these and wish to try my machine out, then hand it over and let the show begin.'

Marius Alyonn pulls a small item out of his pocket places it on the floor and stands back as it starts to unfold, revealing what looks to be a modified forge. Placing the helm inside the forge, Marius pulls a small lever on the side, removes the helm from within, and hands it to you. 'There you go! Let me know what you think. If you don't like it, you can always come back, but it will cost you. This type of technology does not come cheap you know.'

You receive a different version of your helmet, one without visible graphics when you wear it. Often the new version loses an important stat as well, so be warned: you pay a price for your vanity. If you have the new version in your possession:

You say, 'Hail, Marius Alyonn'

Marius Alyonn looks at ______ and begins to speak.

Marius Alyonn says 'Ah, so I see you have returned. Do you wish to change your headgear back? Or are you here to alter another? Either way, I am going to have to charge you a small [fee] this time. I am planning to sell this invention in Norrath and beyond, but I need to save a little more money first.'

You say, 'What fee?'

Marius Alyonn says 'Hmm . . . let me see . . . the cost of materials, having to perform maintenance after the process is done, opening the item and closing it again, plus a small labor charge. I think a diamond sounds fair, what do you say [yes] or [no]?'

You say, 'Yes.'

Marius Alyonn says 'Good, then please hand the gem and I will give you my latest version of the H.E.L.M. device that you can use at your leisure. But before you give me the diamond remember that this device is only compatible with the latest class quest helms.'

You receive a Disposable H.E.L.M. Device. Put your GoD armor helmet without graphics into it, then combine.

You have fashioned the items together to create something new!

Gaelin's Woodland Cap (druid GoD quest helm) is
http://lucy.allakhazam.com/item.html?id=68900
originally (no graphics)
and the helm-graphic version is:
http://lucy.allakhazam.com/item.html?id=67729
As you can see the stats of the item is identical.

Even though the quest text says "Well, so far I have only been successful with the latest class quest helms", the OOW tier 2 helm Everspring Cap of the Tangled Briars, cant be combined in the H.E.L.M. device. Cap gfx sucks :(

Erudite plate helms?

Just wondering if this makes the erudite hood disappear or not. I know the ldon helms would.

Yes, I do not want a helm with a handle, and the hood is just getting really really old.

# Aug 19 2005 at 1:18 PM Rating: Decent
I am an erudte enchanter and just did the quest and here is the deal. When you have a full robe on you still have hood and no helm. When you take robe off or have on a tunic you have helm with a handle. The cool thing I like though is that when you cast an illusion on yourself you get that race's version of the helm graphic which is cool.

So from what I am reading, Ldon Armor Helm would not work in this at all.

Anyway to fix the graphics on the Ldon Armor Helm? ok thanks

I think this is only for Qvic helm armor
Qvic helms only

As of 10/30/04 he will not take OoW quest armor helms, such as Oathbound Helm.
Fixed
# Oct 19 2004 at 10:12 AM Rating: Decent
Quest is fixed. Further, for all the confused, at the time being this quest is only for Qvic armor (Abysmal quested armor). This requires a muramite armor drop from Qvic, it does not work on EP, Ornate, or anything else. Also..

This is totally untrue. The helmet you receive back has the exact same stats as the one you hand in. You lose nothing, except any augments you forgot to remove before doing the hand in.

Yeah, and the name remains the same after customizaton as well. "Dakkamor's Helm of the Divine" after customization is still called "Dakkamor's Helm of the Divine", not something such as "Custom Dakkamor's Helm of the Divine" as was the case with Velious customizations.

Speaking of Velious, that's what the custom helms look like...Velious Plate. If you use Luclin models, you won't be able to really tell the difference between these helms and, say, a fine plate helm. If you use oldschool models, the unique and rare look is apparent. Examples are Human females with the dragon-wing helm, and the High Elf females with the egyptian-esque egghelm. Very different looking, and even casters can customize their Qvic helms to make it appear as plate.

Quest is working now but REMOVE ANY AUGMENTS before giving him your helm! I lost the auggy I had on mine and have petitioned to see if I can get it back.

I tried it Aug 9, 2004, and it is still broken.
Very disappointing if you like your helm graphical and not invisible.

I handed him Dakkamor's Helm of the Divine and he handed it back, so I of course, put it on. No graphic. He also ate the 40hp augment that was on it. Not dismayed I continued.

Disposable H.E.L.M Device. It's on lucy, but doesn't appear to be on here yet. The combine makes the container poof, if that wasn't a given.

I'm not sure where the quest text was taken from but that is not what he says upon hailing and speaking with him. Its an exact copy up until you say 'what headgear'. Then you get the text...

Marius Alyonn says 'Well, so far I have only been successful with the latest class quest helms but I am hoping to expand soon. For now though if you have any of these and wish to try my machine out, then hand it over and let the show begin.'

Which someone posted below. Also, attempted to hand in the blood-glazed helm and it was returned to me saying he didn't need it.

Really how you make them i would pay 21k in second to make that armor. It makes elementle armor look like crap.

Possible this is for Ornate and Elemental?
Velious Custom Helms
# Feb 14 2004 at 9:19 PM Rating: Good
If this does what it implies it would be VERY similar to customizing your helm in the velious era. All the posts talk about a waste here, but really this type of thing has been around a long long time(since velious). I think its a fairly neat idea to take a helm with no graphic and then be able to get a cool looking helm. Trolls and gnomes have some fantastic helm graphics and its a shame to see chain/leather/silk not be able to have a graphic
no success

I have only been successful with the latest class quest helms

Didn't work with normal drop item.
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 14 2004 at 1:48 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) So basically you turn in your helm to either show or remove the graphic on your toon.....
RE: How vain
# Feb 14 2004 at 7:23 AM Rating: Decent
Obviously you've never been a Barbarian with a hat that looks like a Bear's head, or a Half Elf with a hat that looks like a tent.
Sure these were pre-luclin graphics, but it clearly points out why someone would want to make thier idiotic looking hat graphic go away.

#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 14 2004 at 3:44 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Actually I've been a half elf since June, 1999. Consider this, how much coding went into this mob to produce this effect? I may be a bit jaded, but I'm also one of the people who had the crashing problem in Natimbi so forgive me if I think the effort that went into this 'quest' could have been better used elsewhere =)
invisible
# Feb 14 2004 at 12:08 AM Rating: Excellent
My text was a bit different... it seems he can make helms visible or invisible...

You say, 'Hail, Marius Alyonn'

Marius Alyonn looks at you and begins to speak.

You say, 'what headgear'

Marius Alyonn says 'Well, so far I have only been successful with the latest class quest helms but I am hoping to expand soon. For now though if you have any of these and wish to try my machine out, then hand it over and let the show begin.'
