Germand Reton is located on one of the lower decks at 135, 112, 99.

You say, 'Hail, Germand Reton'

Germand Reton says 'Hello. Not much time to talk. We have a big [problem] on our hands.'

You say, 'What problem?'

Germand Reton says 'Before the magical Buoys that produce the protective dome over the city were in place, a large sea creature damaged the bottom of the ship. The problem is we need some wood to repair it. There appears to be no wood on this new continent however. If you could perhaps [find some wood] and bring it to me I could find some sort of reward for you.'

You say, 'I will find some wood.'

Germand Reton says 'Very good. Please travel to the Jaggedpine Forest and find Ervonis Leaflow. He supplied us with a lot of the wood during the construction of the Queen of Thorns. Once you find him give him this note.'

You receive a Note to Ervonis. You can find Ervonis Leaflow at -480, -630, -40 in Jaggedpine Forest. Hand in the note. He doesn't respond to hail.

Ervonis Leaflow says 'Germand needs some more lumber? Well I would be happy to chop some for you, but unfortunately I [lost] my axe. It was my favorite axe so I will not be chopping any more wood until I get it back.'
You gain experience!!

You say, 'Lost?'

Ervonis Leaflow says 'I was washing its fine blade down by the river when those darned potameids attacked me. I ran but left my axe behind out of pure fear. If you could [find] it, I would be grateful and won't even charge you for some wood.'

You say. 'I will find it.'

Ervonis Leaflow says 'Great. I would start by checking near the river. Be careful though, those potameids are dangerous!'

You'll find the axe at -60, -2620, -50, before the queen's room in the tunnels where the potameids live, just under a potameid spawn. The axe looks like a wind-worn axe laying on the ground. Take the Axe back to Ervonis Leaflow.

Ervonis Leaflow says 'I cannot tell you how thankful I am. Just a moment and I will get you some wood.' Ervonis chops some wood for you and ties it into a neat bundle. 'It is a bit heavy, but I think you can handle it. Thanks again!'
You gain experience!!

Receive a Bundle of Wood. Take this back to Germand.

Germand Reton says 'You found some wood! This will really help us with fixing the ship. Take this for your trouble. An enchanter friend of mine makes these little trinkets. Their magic doesn't last long, but it might help you out. You have my thanks and the thanks of the entire Wayfarers Brotherhood.'
You gain experience!!

Germand can be found west of Jorlan the alchemy vendor. Turn your back to Jorlan and you will see a door in front of you, Germand is just behind it

In case you hadn't heard, NO RENT items can be stored in the Guild Bank and they won't disappear.

A: The timer on corpses slows to a practical stop when you're not logged on, just make a new one with this on it before you log every day
B: Any rogue / bard seeking the crown of deceit will be better off doing this, it won't drive you crazy like the crown will ;)
C: I love SoE for making this, some of the best old world items were NoRent items just so people had to go through the pain of making a corpse before they logged, but it's not that hard, just duel some one in the bazaar or guild lobby or something and bam you have a Crown of Deceit ;)
Some help for you from me..

I had huge troubles without the track ability on this one... So heres for you to not have problems. Germand (hardest ever!) IS on a lower one near wehre you can buy spells down that hall youll walk into the room straight from it and find the alchemy Barbarians go from that room and search around that area Germand is a DWARF! Ervonis isnt S E from the Camp N E really from teh Poacher camp which is along the potamaid river from the east and mid way in that lake from the east. Good luck and be a proud woody!
Is it worth it?
# Aug 28 2004 at 4:44 AM Rating: Decent
Well basically it would be worth it even as a norent item, if it were reasonably easily attainable. Cheaper than getting an illusion potion or camping undead frogloks for faction for other non-class specific illusion items. But the real pain is the potameid temptresses. They see through invis and one is permacamped outside the tunnel you need to get to, and another wanders the tunnels.

If you could just walk in, get the axe, hand it in, travel to abysmal sea and hand in the wood, it would take you about 20 mintues to finish, and would be well worth it. But as it is, the axe is a toughish fight to attain, which not many classes could solo (I managed it with my druid and a DC pet - but my SK was out of luck).

So basically forget this unless you happen to be killing the potameids anyhow, you might just want to grab the axe for when you do want the illusion item.

Nothing is at that loc. Does anyone have the true loc to this guy or his position on the boat?
RE: Loc Please?
# Mar 21 2004 at 8:05 AM Rating: Decent
I was confused at first until I realized that I was on the wrong level. He's at that location, but the entrance to the area is more near the back of the boat. You can find the instructions if you follow http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=14322

That is the correct location when I've seen Germand. I've never seen him anywhere else, but maybe he occasionally wanders. /shrug

frickin pointless
# Feb 12 2004 at 7:16 PM Rating: Decent
The people who might benefit from this most - non-enchanter evil races - are KOS in Jaggedpine Forest. Unless they already have an illusion item, it will be hard for them to get this one.

how stupid is that?

Got this item with my DE rogue the guy in JP is indifferent to me without sneak hide.. only hard part was the axe too 2 trys. if you go use the left tunnel to get to Axe as right tunnel has mobs that see invis.

Down side as a no rent item this is not worth the time and zone running, buy a potion in the bazaar they are cheap and far easier to get

Not pointless if you have sneak/hide. Also, there are other ways to manage it, such as: pacify the quest giver, open trade window from max range, then have someone invis you. I did that exact thing, on an MQ for part of my druid's epic, because the person who had the item was KOS with my quest mob in FV from PoG raids.

Many things are possible, if you think creatively.
Pointless due to no rent, anyway

My troll sk would have tried this, somehow, but since its no rent there is no point.

Availible potions in the game at the bazaar, for far less than my time is worth, make such no rent items moot.
No rent bauble

The nerf bat has struck again. Now when you drown yourself to hang onto those no rent items, you will suffer a decrease in exp.

you don't even have to kill anything for this quest. I think it's pretty decent if you need a wood elf illusion for a day for whatever reason.
RE: No rent bauble
# Feb 14 2004 at 2:37 AM Rating: Default
I have to agree, this quest is WAY too easy for it to be a permanent item with unlimited charges of illusion. As a porting/tracking class, took me all of 5 minutes. Didn't know it was No Rent until I did it though, lol.

Lesson learned: if it seems to good to be true, ESPECIALLY in EQ, it probably is.
Loc?
